Chapter Text
Imedienty after your last mission you are called by the council for another. You dread the meeting that's waiting before you, taking your sweet time getting to the conference room. You'd be lying if you said you didn't have the smallest bit of time to yourself. Well- if going to a Senate "get together" after their defeat of the biggest droid manufacturer on a "neutral" planet, chaperoning Senator Amidala, counts as you-time. Though it was fun, the Senator always does know how to make a night brighter than before, You'll give her that.
You slowly pace yourself. Not too slow to draw attention from the younglings that love to chat but not too fast to actually arrive at the destination. Though punctuality is probably in your best interest if you'd ever want the rank of master but that's not one of your top priorities at the moment. Nice and steady strides are all you need. 30 seconds of mental preparation is all you need. A goddamn drink is really what you need but actually consuming it is horrifically unpleasant. You squeezed your eyes shut. You feel uneasy with apprehension, pondering what will be asked of you in a few short moments. All most there... FUCK. All most there...
"Shouldn't you be headed somewhere?" A familiar voice sounded beside you.
Great.
"Master Kenobi, how glad I am to see you" You slowed your pace even further, plastering a fake smile on your face. You shouldn't feel so...anxious about meeting with the council. You've been doing this since you were a Padawan for crying out loud. The worst moment of your life feels like dust in the wind compared to the anxiety you feel, but that's just hyperbole. You don't even want to think about that day.
"I wish I could say the same...Your thoughts are very loud. I'm surprised the Padawans next door aren't clawing their ears off-" Kenobi remarked dramatically.
"As much as I would LOVE to stroll with you on this absolutely beautiful afternoon, I do have a meeting to get to." You cut Obi-Wan off eager to get away from him. Obi-Wan Kenobi was doing the complete opposite of soothing your worry.
"Of course young Jedi Knight, good luck." Kenobi said slowing his pace. Finally, You arrived and took your place in the middle of the room. It felt as though 100 eyes were on you instead of just 12.
"Hello Masters." You bowed slightly, feeling awkward. Bowing? Really? Is that what we do? Do Jedi bow? You suddenly can't remember and everything seems foreign. You really need to work on your social anxieties but maybe that's just all in your head.
You held the access sleeve of your robe in your fists to stop your fidgeting.
"Excellent your mission went, Young Knight." Master Yoda said with a small booming voice. There was a familiar Croke that made your lip twitch, threatening a smile from the approval. Out of all the Jedi you look up to Yoda the most. Seeing all there is to see in the vast galaxy and still having a great willingness to serve beings as a true peacekeeper is quite amazing. Not that you wouldn't but, you've seen your fair share of doubt in humanity and the likes of it.
"Thank you Master Yoda" You said bowing again. Yeah...Jedi bow. That's a thing. 'I need to get out of my head' You thought scratching your eyebrow a bit.
"We are here to assign you to your next mission. Given your recent success, you will be partnered with a Maser on an important mission. It is imperative this mission goes successfully, this assignment will bring us closer to ending the war." Said Master Mace Windu. And just like that Master Kenobi appeared without a sound adjacent to you.
"Accompany you Master Kenobi will." Yoda declared. And with that, the meeting was adjourned. You silently let out a breath.
"Meditate with me you must Young Jedi" Yoda said tapping Your knee on his way out. Every evening You meditate with Master Yoda and sometimes help with his younglings meditation class. What he wants You to see must be important.
Obi-Wan turned to you as everyone fled to their awaiting priorities.
"See you in a few hours” He said with a small smirk, walking out the door.
