Work Text:
Morgan and Alex went to explore another reality; unbeknownst to them, there was already an explorer investigating the realm, another traveler.
The three meet in an abandoned mansion. Alex is suspicious of the girl. Morgan doesn't care about why she's there, just what happened.
She explains that she's hunting a creature, that her name is Cassie Lake, and the creature she's hunting is called a Weeping Angel. If caught by the creature, it'll send them back in time where they'll live until they die, and when that happens, they feed on your life force. The life you could have lived had you not been sent back in time.
Alex knows she's telling the truth.
"The creature appears as a stone angel, and you can't kill stone, but then you turn your back..."
She says that Weeping Angels can only move so long as no one is looking at them. That no one can blink if you're in a room surrounded by them.
Morgan asks how she's to kill them then.
She explains that if she gets them to look at one another, they'll become stone for good. They're the world's loneliest assassins, old as time is.
Alex asks why they'll turn to stone forever when they stare at each other.
She explains again that a weeping angel cannot move if anything is staring at it, including themselves. Then she warns that should you find yourself staring at one, do not make eye contact. Because that's how another weeping angel is created.
And that a countdown will happen; when you get to one, the weeping angel will take over your life, and the creature will hunt again. "The image of an Angel is itself an Angel."
