In a kingdom on the farthest of majestical lands, lived a princess, and her trusted knight. They lived in a place called; The Otori Kingdom. In this kingdom, there was a myth. This myth was where if you fell in love at first sight, the person you fell for was practically your soulmate (bonus if they return your love). Of course, falling in love at first sight was a rare thing to happen.
Normally, you would need to spend time with someone to grow feelings for them. But sometimes when you see a person, you go think, "Oh yeah, they're definitely the one." Or, "Oh my god, they're so hot!" (help that was cringe) In Nene Kusanagi's case though, she never had these thoughts about anyone. That was until she was assigned to protect the youngest princess, Emu Otori.
The second Nene caught a glance of who Emu was, she fell in love. Nene's first thoughts were...
'Wow... She's so... Pretty... W-Wait, I just met her, why am I falling for her already?!'
Of course, Nene wasn't stupid. She knew about the myth. Hell, even thinking about it is enough to get her face dusted in pink, but there were 3 questions bothering her.
Does the kingdom allow girl x girl love? Was she even aloud to love the princess, even though she was a knight? But most important of all...
Did Emu love her back?
The answer to Nene was obvious. No. Of course Emu wouldn't love her back, they just met for crying out loud. Even so, there was a very small chance that Emu felt the same way. I mean, the myth works on royalty too, but it only happened once in royal history, which was 10 decades ago.
It is a possibility though.
"Nene-chaaan!"
"Ah, h-hello, you're highness." Nene kneeled.
"Hehe, why the fancy talk? You could just call me by my normal name y'know!" Emu giggled.
"Oh, right... Emu."
Nene forgot that Emu gave her permission to use her regular name. But with Nene falling her Emu, she always ends up forgetting.
"Soo... Nene-chan, wanna go outside for a bit?"
"Sure. Where shall we go, your highne— I mean- Emu?"
"Hmmm... Can we go to the forest? I wanna see the animals!"
"Alright then. Let's go mention this to King Otori—"
"Nah! We don't need to do that!"
"Eh? Won't we get in trouble if we don't inform him?"
"Nope! Father trusts me now! He also trusts you to protect me, since you're one of the top knights~" Emu hummed.
"A-Alright then... Shall we head off?"
Emu then held Nene's hand, while Nene's face begins to turn pink.
"We shall! Let's go, Nene-chan!"
As they walk to the forest, something didn't feel... Right. So Nene kept her guard up, just in case something, or someone were to cause harm. They arrived at the fresh, green forest, as many animals came to their area. It seems that Emu is quite popular with the animals, since they all seem so happy to see her.
"Wonderhoy, animals! I'm so happy to see you! ☆"
Nene thought it was quite cute to see Emu be so happy to see animals. It was like... She was a Disney princess or something, with the animals flooding around her.
"Ooooo, Nene-chan! This bunny reminds me of you!" Emu cheered, as she held up a greenish-grey bunny.
The bunny was basically the colour of Nene's hair, and it also seemed quite shy. The bunny wasn't shy around Emu though, as it warmed up to her in no time. As Emu cuddled the bunny in her arms, Nene spotted a smaller bunny, but it was pink, just like Emu.
The pink bunny hops to Nene, as it's head tilts slightly out of curiosity while it looks at her. Then all of a sudden, it jumps in Nene's arms, startling her a bit. Nene cradles the bunny gently in her arms, humming a soft tune. Emu notices this, and admires how Nene looks so happy.
'Awe... Look at Nene-chan, she looks so happy!' Emu thought.
She walks over to Nene, smiling.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself, huh Nene-chan?"
"Y-Yeah... This bunny reminds me of you, it's cute." Nene stated, not realizing what she said out loud in the last part.
That compliment led to Emu's cheeks become a little pink. After that, Nene had just realized what she said out loud.
"Ah! I-I mean... Y-You know—"
Emu giggles.
"No worries! I'm not mad. Just surprised, y'know?"
"I-I see... I'm glad then- I-I meant how I'm glad you're not mad...!" Nene rambled.
As Nene continued to ramble about how she meant whatever, the pink bunny hopped down from Nene's arms, and went to the previous bunny Emu was holding earlier (the greenish-grey one). It hopped energetically to the other bunny, giving it a little nuzzle on the nose.
That gave Emu an idea.
"I meant...! *sigh* Maybe I should just stop talking—"
Emu shut Nene off with a kiss on her cheek.
'Huh...?' Nene thought in shock. 'H-HAAAAAAH?!'
"E-Emu?!"
"Hehe, sorry! The bunnies gave me the idea to kiss you! Also, you're face is really red! Are you okay, Nene-chan?!" Emu shouted in worry.
"I-... I have a confession to make..." Nene whispered.
"Hmm? What's your confession, Nene-chan?" Emu's head tilted.
"You know the myth in the kingdom about how if you fall in love at first sight, the person you fall in love with is your soulmate...?"
"Mhm! Why?"
"I... I've fallen for you since the day we met!" Nene admitted nervously.
"So... Perhaps we are soulmates... But of course, we only met a year ago, so I don't think it's possible that you love me back—"
Emu interrupted Nene with a kiss. A real one this time. This caused Nene's shoulders to tense up, surprised by the sudden kiss from her highness. She melted into it though, as it was impossible to resist. The kiss was a little short, but mesmerizing at the same time.
"Hehe, I've fallen for you since the day we first met too, Nene-chan! I think we were meant to be~ ♪" Emu sang.
"Haha... Perhaps you're right, Emu." Nene giggled as she cherished this moment.
