Work Text:
“Christmas is coming, yay!”
“Koyama, you've been saying that for a month,” Shige points out calmly as he brushes glitter off his pullover – with little hope, because he's totally getting those glitter back with him at home, just as it's been the case since November started.
He thinks that there is more glitter at his place than at Koyama's at this point, and that's saying a lot.
He doesn't even know when or how Koyama's obsession for Christmas has started. Surely, it wasn't that bad the year before ; he would have noticed. Koyama always gets excited around that time of the year, but he usually waits until December before decorating his place (and his cat). Today, Milk is wearing a green collar and a little bell.
“That's animal abuse, you know,” Shige says while exchanging a look with her.
The way she glares at him is so expressive that he decides to take it as her approval.
“At least now I know where she is,” Koyama replies without losing his Christmas smile.
It seems that everything turns into Christmas in Koyama's apartment : Christmas candles, Christmas mugs, Christmas blankets, Christmas fireplace playing on the TV, Christmas cat... and Christmas boyfriend starts to feel a little worried, to tell the truth.
“Please tell me you won't make me wear a little bell.”
“Depends where,” Koyama teases without looking at him.
Shige chuckles and grabs his mug – the one that says ‘Have yourself a sweet Christmas’. He should consider himself lucky that the coffee inside is black and bitter, just as it should be.
He enjoys the relative silence of Christmas jazz music to look around. He could swear that extra decorations have appeared since last week. Shige knows of all people that Koyama is not the kind of person to accumulate things, simply because it’s the main reason why they gave up on moving in together : Shige is lots of things but not a minimalist.
“Why do you like Christmas so much, all of sudden?”
Koyama doesn't answer immediately, arranging a golden angel figurine that loses an awful amount of glitter in the process.
“I don't know,” He whispers but the line on his (open) forehead says otherwise. “Isn't it nice to celebrate the light when everything's getting dark?”
Shige humms thoughtfully and it's enough to snap Koyama out of his reverie. The leader smiles at him warmly, however there’s a sadness in his eyes that he cannot quite hide from his partner.
“I know what you think about Christmas : that it's all about consumerism and religious propaganda. But it's a nice occasion for couples and... children.”
Koyama's voice trembles a little on that last word. Shige doesn't say anything. He just gets up and comes behind Koyama to hug him.
“That's a nice occasion, indeed,” He admits, leaning his chin on Koyama’s shoulder.
“Are you free next Tuesday? Miki's inviting us,” Koyama adds.
He nods and places a few kisses on his neck. Koyama tilts his head diligently to give him better access.
“Is it the perspective of getting a little bell?” He asks facetiously and Shige scoffs.
“Best I can do is matching pullovers.”
