Work Text:

Koyama takes a big breath as Shige's laughing at Massu's last comment.

“Guys?”

Two pairs of eyes are on him the next second and suddenly, he's losing his resolve. But – hey – if you can't get your true feelings off your chest around Christmas, when can you?

“I have something to ask you.”
“You scare me,” Shige replies and Massu doesn't nod, but he seems equally frightened.
“You're not going to propose to us?”

Koyama forces a chuckle and his two beloved members look even more reluctant. There's no coming back.

“Would you... do that with me next year too?”
“Do what? Have dinner?” Massu asks, frowning.

Something passes on Shige's face and Koyama knows he has understood what's going on in his mind, however he can't tell if Shige's favorable or not, so he braces himself and keeps talking.

“Yes, have dinner, just the three of us. One week before Christmas. I want to do that again next year, and the year after that, and so on, even after we're done with our group activities. I know it's not easy to keep a day free with your schedules and you can't even take the time to rest, but... I'll treat,” He adds as if money could possibly be an issue for Johnny's.

A hushed silence follows his declaration. They hear nothing but the noise of other customers and waiters, while Koyama stares at his hands. Massu's the first to speak.

“Tonight's on me.”
“Guess I'll treat you next year, then,” Shige replies.

Koyama's eyes become teary as he looks at both of them. Shige scoffs mockingly.

“Massu and I sounded so cool, don't ruin it now!”

Massu bursts into laughter and Koyama ends up giggling and crying with relief.

“He always does that,” Massu points out with a mischievous smile. “Remember how serious he was when he asked to be our leader?”
“Of course I remember, I helped him. I did all the work, we even gathered at my place! All he did was ask the big question with puppy eyes! I should be the leader!”

Shige keeps going with his rant a little more and soon Koyama's tears are only tears of laughter.

“For real, every time he wants to ask something big I'm scared he's about to propose to us,” Massu says.
“Don't worry. The day he'll propose to us, I'll know it, because he'd have me planning it,” Shige indicates.
“Oh my god, he would. Booking the restaurant and all.”

Koyama's cheeks hurt from smiling. He exhales sharply and tries again to pull himself together.

“I'm so grateful I got to spend half of my life with you, and I'm looking forward spending the-”

He chokes over the next word and suddenly he's reduced to saying ‘I love you so much’ between two sobs.

“Please take his drink,” Massu says to Shige, only to be responded with a miserable sniffle. “Not you too!” He screams as Shige's busy wiping his face.
“When he cries I cry!” Shige bursts out.
“Are you for real?” Massu chuckles but after twenty years of knowing him, Koyama can tell he's holding back his tears as well.
