"He's so pretty." Kaminari mumbled, leaning against Mina who just laughed at her friend, wrapping her arm around him. He was staring at Shinso who stood in the corner of the room, talking to Tokoyami with a small smile on his face. . He was in a purple crop top and jeans, little reindeer earrings dangling from his ears which caught the light when he turned his head. Jiro had managed to get him to wear some makeup- some purple eyeshadow, and silver winged eyeliner. Kaminari damn near kissed him on the spot. Of course he never approached his best friend (and crush) and complimented his makeup nor outfit. That would be ridiculous. Instead he avoided him. The entire party. And here he was, hiding with Kirishima or Mina and complaining about his massive crush. He couldn't help but stare from afar, wanting to go talk to him, but was far too afraid.
He was being ridiculous. Shinso was his best friend. He could talk to him normally without panicking- But in a crop top and makeup? Denki didn't need the alcohol in his cup to make him completely forget how to speak. Or walk. Or even function like a normal person. Shinso turned towards Kaminari and he went red, burying his face in his soft scarf. He could hear Shinso's laugh, light and warm, filling the room. When he looked back up at him, he was laughing at something Midoriya had said.. When did he show up?
He couldn't tell him. It could ruin everything. What if Shinso hated him for it? What if he didn’t want to talk to him anymore? The small gift in Denki's pocket felt heavy. It was a necklace, a little purple cat and his voice changer pendant. He had spent forever trying to figure out what to get him, spending all of the money he had earned working odd jobs for the past few months. Why not give it to him now and maybe confess while he was at it. Maybe . There were way too many people at the party, and if he pulled him away it would be clear what he was going to do. He wasn't exactly subtle with his crush, complaining to his entire friend group that Shinsou couldn’t tell he liked him. Despite all his flirting.
"Go talk to him, you idiot. Pull him into the kitchen, give him your gift, let him open it, and tell him. Christ Denki. You've been crushing on him for months. Talk to him or I'll fucking make you." Mina threatened, grabbing Denki's arm and pulling him up. Denki panicked and pulled away from Mina. There was no way he was letting her do that over to Shinsou. Nope nope nope. If he was going to do it, he was going to do it himself.
"Fine! Fine! I'll go."
"That's the spirit."
Denki groaned and turned to where Shinso was standing. Only to find that he was gone. Shit. This was going to be difficult. Kaminari rubbed his eyes before wading through the crowds of students, Christmas music blaring throughout the dorms and he could see Mic and Aizawa in the corner of the room, Midnight and Vlad nowhere to be seen. It was obvious they would chaperone. They were permitted alcohol and with most of them never having drank alcohol before it would be obvious that some people would take it too far. So far Ojiro had to be put to bed after drinking too much. By the way Sero was looking, he would be next.
Slipping into the kitchen, Denki sighed in relief as he saw Hitoshi on his own, getting a new drink. The music was barely audible in the kitchen, the window open to let in some fresh air. He shivered at the chill breeze. Hitoshi didn't notice him as he walked into the kitchen, making Denki reconsider. Before he could make his escape, Hitoshi turned to him and smiled, pouring a second drink and handing it to him. Denki took it with a smile, his mouth completely dry.
"H-hey.. Hitoshi. I- umm." He dug his hands in his pocket, feeling for the box and pushing it towards Hitoshi. "This is for you. Christmas present. I-I got you a Christmas present. I know you don't really celebrate it because of your foster family and you're not used to stuff like this but you're one of my closest friends and I love getting the people I lo-like presents so... I figured I should get you something."
Hitoshi laughed a little at Denki's rambling, opening the box before letting out a little gasp in surprise.
"It's okay if you don't like it- I just-"
"No, Denki-"
"I guess it's a bit much and-"
"Denki. Stop your adorable rambling and look at me for a second." Denki looked up at Hitoshi, face slightly red. "I love it. I love your gift and I wish I got you something too. Can you help me put it on?"
Denki's brain short circuited for a moment, frantically nodding his head. Hitoshi handed him the necklace and turned around, his back to Denki who unclipped the necklace before attaching it around his neck. Denki tapped his shoulder when he was done, Hitoshi turning around with a smile, his cheeks tinged with red. His fingers traced the pendants, lingering over them for a few more seconds.
"Thank you. I love it and I won't take it off." Hitoshi promised Denki, who was looking mildly panicked but ecstatic that Hitoshi liked his gift and even promised to never take it off. At that moment Denki didn't care enough to worry that Hitoshi might be lying and hates it. He was clouded with happiness and was almost jumping in his space. He stared at Hitoshi for a moment, overwhelmed with the want to kiss him right there and then. But he couldn't. He wasn't even sure if Hitoshi liked guys. He never showed any interest in guys.. or anyone for that matter.
"Denki, are you alright? You're looking a little pale. Did you drink too much?" Hitoshi reached out to touch his forehead, frowning when there was no type of fever. Denki reached up to hold his hand without thinking, turning red when he realized what he did. A sound from the other side of the kitchen made them look back at the doorway. Shoji stood there with a look of slight panic and slowly backed out of the kitchen, apologizing for ruining their little moment.
It was now or never, Denki knew that. He knew the next day he would be too panicked and would carry on crushing on him and try to ignore the feelings whilst still being one of his closest friends. He didn't know if he would be able to stop himself from blurting out his confession mid conversation in class or at an inappropriate time. Why not confess now they were alone. Then Mina would stop harassing him about it.
"Hitoshi I-'' Denki sighed and grabbed his hand, pulling him into a doorway further away from the party. It was silent in the doorway, keeping Denki semi-calm. "Hitoshi I like you. I really do. I like you more than a friend. I like you, you're one of my closest friends, but I want to be more than friends. I want to kiss you and take you on dates and show you off and call you my boyfriend and I've liked you ever since I met you. The first time I saw you I panicked because you are so goddamn attractive and seeing you now in a goddamn crop top it's now or never and I just really like you. It's okay if you don't feel the same because you've never shown interest in anyone let alone guys and-"
"Denki, you like me?" Hitoshi cut off Denki's anxious rambling, holding either side of his face. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah- I really do and I just want to kiss you and fuck it-" Denki reached up to hold Hitoshi's face pulling him down and pushing his lips onto Hitoshi's. He pulled away a second later, panicking at the thought he just ruined everything. Hitoshi was completely red in the face, eyes wide with an expression Denki couldn't read. He wasn't sure if it was excitement or panic or disgust. Slowly, Denki released his face, taking a small step back into the dark hallway behind them. "I'm sorry."
"Can you kiss me again? Please." Denki looked confused for a second before grabbing Hitoshi by his top and pulling him into another kiss. Hitoshi smiled into the kiss, cupping his face in his hands, letting Denki almost press him against the doorway. Denki giggled happily into the kiss, going back to kissing him when Hitoshi pulled him closer.
They kissed for what felt like five seconds and five years, only pulling away when they were out of breath. Denki wrapped his arms around Hitoshi's neck, letting Hitoshi lean up against the doorway, looking up at the ceiling. Using his finger, he lifted Denki's face up so he could see mistletoe hanging in the doorway above them. Denki laughed, leaning his head against Hitoshi's chest.
"So does this mean we're dating now and you like me back?" Denki asked, still a little uncertain. Hitoshi laughed.
"Yes Denki. I do like you. And I'd love to be your boyfriend. Can I kiss you again?" Denki didn't need to answer that.
Aizawa watched Kaminari and Hitoshi disappear into the kitchen and he already knew that Kaminari was about to confess. It was about time too, he couldn't stand to hear Kaminari complain about his son for one more day. If it didn't happen that night he would have to step in and lock them in a room together until one of them confessed. Hitoshi was just as useless. Countless nights were spent ranting to Hizashi about Kaminari and it took a lot of control to not explode and tell him that Kaminari liked him back.
He checked on them ten minutes later to find them making out in the doorway. Clearly their confession went well.
