Lydia wasn’t exactly accepted by semors people. Despite how impressive she was, how strong and how devoted to her king husband she was…she wasn’t one of them.
Lydia is a half human half meta being. Meta beings are humans with innate superpowers along with other physical differences. Theyre stronger, faster and more durable with slit pupils and glowing eyes. They have sharp claws and fangs as well. Lydia had all the physical qualities of a full meta being and was her section of the multiverses fire elemental.
But..to the trolls it didn’t matter. She was small…weak…fragile. So she was hidden from most unless semor put a spell on her to appear like a troll. Everyone inside the castle and court knew the truth though…and they did not treat her well.
Especially when the monthly meetings took place. Every month Semor had to gather counselors and advisors to talk about whatever issues arose.
There they were sitting at the massive meeting table, talking amongst themselves about a rather minor issues. Lydia stood by semor, pointing out things in notes helpfully. She rested a hand on his shoulder as she always did, occasionally telling a joke to make him smile. she knew he hated these meetings and wanted to make them bearable.
Soon enough the councellors talked about the queen.
“shes useless…she hasent even given him a child yet..”
“i bet she thinks shes something because of her criminal bloodline.”
“who knows if she’ll live long enough to make a dent…I doubt it. I think shes lying about being half meta being…she looks so plain.”
Lydia shrugged it all off. When she was younger she would have blown up…and back when her and semor were first dating SHE DID! But…her husband has a reputation and she cant fuck it up. She lowered her gaze and tried to focus on the notes.
Semor heard it all too. He didn’t like what they had to say but yelling at them wouldn’t do anything.
but one comment..one set him off this day…
“...shes nothing but a glorified concubine…”
Lydias eyes watered and she looked away, not wanting them to see how they got to her. Semor took a moment to process that sentence…and when he did his blood boiled- he saw red. He stood up and slammed his fist against the table, cracking it.
“stand up…whoever said It.” he spoke lowly, furious. No one moved but the room when silent. Semors eyes narrowed and he yelled “I SAID STAND UP.”
The advisor responsible stood shakily.
“im not oblivious to the things you say. I hear every bit of disrespect and vitrial you spit at my wife and YOUR QUEEN. I don’t care about whatever your deluded biases make you believe but she is more than qualified and capable of her role. That being said…hear me NOW. I don’t give a damn what you think or how you feel about her…you will respect her…or ill get rid of you. Insulting your queen…mocking her in the halls and spreading rumors about her relfects on NOT ONLY our kingdom but your character. If your character is not worthwhile then your service will be terminated.” semor announced, glaring at the advisor and all others at the table.
Lydia sniffled and looked up at semor appreciatively. “if she wasn’t such a forgiving queen she might kill you herself…I can guarantee you shes capable and well within her right to do so…” he pulled her close to him. “meeting adjourned.
Everyone was excused leaving lydia and semor alone in the room. Lydia let the tears flow from her as semor held her tight. “I should have done that a long time ago…im sorry.” he apologized, picking her up and cradling her.
“i hate them..” lydia admitted, burying her face in semors chest. “yeah me too…ill get rid of a few…then tonight im taking time off- we havent had date night in so long” semor kissed his wifes forehead. Lydia smiled, tears slowing.
“we’re gonna go to the floating isles and watch the moon flower bloom…” semor explained further, counting off activities by tapping her ribs. “walk through the garden…have dinner in the underworld aannnddd come back home whenever you want.”
Lydia leaned up and kissed semor “perfect...you are perfect…”
“...so are you my queen…I promise.” semor picked her up and walked out of the room.
