Chapter 1: Forest/Moon
Chapter Text
The cold breeze ran through each of Enid's bristling hairs. A trickle of steam trailed from her mouth with each agitated breath and her arms held Wednesday's tiny, slender body against hers. The forest had become their favorite place to escape to in the evenings when they wanted to be alone. Nights when Wednesday's lips would desperately seek out her partner's to savor her sweet strawberry flavor.
The girls broke apart as the need to breathe became uncontrollable. Enid let go Wednesday allowing her to recover up. There they were, facing each other, in the middle of the forest, freezing to death, but so close that Enid could taste Wednesday's breath; intoxicated by it. This gave her the courage to express, for the first time, everything she felt and had kept in silent for months. Those months in which her favorite activity was to sneak away with the raven for a heated kissing session. However, for Enid that wasn't enough. Not after knowing that her friend possibly felt the same way about her; so that night the she-wolf opened her game and risked all.
"Enid..."-Wednesday gasped.
"Can you let me finish, Wednesday?"
"No."- For the first time the goth laid her eyes on the ground- "What you say is beautiful, Enid, but..."
"Wednesday, look at me"- Enid asked, taking Wendesday's chin with her hand, forcing her to look up.
"I'm sorry, but I can’t give you what you want. What you're asking for."
"I'm not asking you anything."
"Implicitly you are. I... I just don't feel the same way, Enid. I'm never going to fall in love."
Enid let out a sigh and Wednesday blinked.
"Oh, that's it" Enid took a breath and Wednesday just nodded- "You know what, Wednesday... Forget it. It was me who misunderstood everything"- she said as she felt her voice starting to crack- "After all these months, I thought that..."
"Please"- Interrupted the blackhaired girl- "It was all a mistake"- Sentenced Wednesday with her deadpan look as always used in superficiality, but Enid knew her best. She had never seen her like that before. She looked so bewildered, as if the blonde had penetrated a place in the goth's soul: unexplored and unchanging; cold and impassable, cracking every wall of the huge castle in which the raven kept her heart. Enid could see it in her eyes: Wednesday Addams was making a mistake and dragging her down with it.
Although tears threatened to fall from her eyes, the she-wolf held her gaze as she hugged herself to ease the chill of the forest and the cold of her lover's words. The moonlight showered their bodies, tracing them on the ground as if it were a dire prophecy.
Neither said a word for a long time. Enid let the cold air penetrate her skin and travel to her heart. Took a deep breath and looked at Wednesday one last time before turning to walk away. She waited a few seconds, but Wednesday didn't stop her.
Enid knew that was better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Chapter Text
In the middle of the room, right where a few months ago was an endless line of dividing tape, were Wednesday and Enid. The black-haired girl rested her head on the wolf's shoulder while Enid hugged her around the waist. They were moving in a slow but rhythmic swaying. Their silhouettes were reflected on the wooden floor and their bodies were illuminated in different colors as a result of the moonlight hitting the stained-glass window on the room.
Wednesday didn't know if it was the scent of vanilla, wildflowers and cherry invading her senses, the alcohol in her blood or the music in the background, but she was grateful that the party ended with her in Enid's arms. Dancing with her was such an honor. The song they both enjoyed went beyond the melody, it was a rhythm that only they could hear. Her and Enid's footsteps had become a single sound; a path that the black-haired girl was willing to walk until the end of her days.
"How am I doing it? "Enid asked without letting go the embrace.
"Wonderfully, Lobita. You are mesmerizing"- Wednesday replied without looking at her. She didn't want to let go that shared moment. She didn't know if she loved or hated Yoko and her stupid idea of throwing a party in her dorm, but she was certainly grateful to her.
"I don't want to stop"- Said the blonde once the song had finished playing.
"Don't."
And so, they danced one more song... Wednesday understood at that moment that her destiny was there with her roommate. She knew that they have been there before and that no matter if the song changed, the party was over, or she could no longer stand up because the dance has come to an end; she would always find Enid in this life or in another. Not matter the circumstances she would enjoy this dance for eternity.
"Wednesday!"- She heard after coming back from her trance. Her vision was still blurred, and it took her a little while to regain her senses. She released of the grip of the she-wolf and stood up rearranging her clothes.
"I'm fine, Enid."
"That vision lasted too long, Wendesday"- Enid said still worried. She followed the raven who was already halfway to her desk- "I've never seen you like this before... Are you sure you’re okay? What did you see?"
"You'll know someday"- Wednesday replied without looking at her. She settled back in her chair and began typing- "Now, please don't distract me. It's my writing time."
Enid snorted and just lay down on her bed a little annoyed; she didn't like to be left out about anything, but she knew that her friend wouldn't tell her and didn't feel like insisting on it either; she had always respected the space and topics her roomie didn't want to talk about.
Enid took her phone and started to listen to music. After a while she fell asleep.
When Wednesday didn't hear a noise, she turned over to see the blonde. What did it matter if she never told her? At that moment, in that place, she felt immensely happy, for the simple fact of knowing she was in love.

Chapter Text
Wednesday finds little notes in her books every day. The first time one of these caught her eye was after her first two months at Nevermore: the note was a little yellow smiley-face post it that had written on it, with glitter pink gel, “Have a nice day, Wednesday." Sinclair, she thought and tucked the note in her coat. When she arrived at the dorm, she placed it inside a small black wooden box with gold moldings.
Sometimes they appear during the mornings, when she arrives to class and opens her books, the little post it rests there, right on the page the teacher tells them to answer. This time the note is in the shape of a heart and has written on it "Study time. Library. 5pm." Occasionally they come as a reminder: "Stop reading and come down for lunch. See you in the quad." Some days, they include words of admiration like "You're so smart" or "I loved the song you played on the cello last night."
Other times, Wednesday finds the notes in the book she usually reads at night. Notes that inform her when Enid will be late or leave due to the full moon... These are her least favorites. She can't help but feel a little jealous when she reads, "I'll be with Yoko until after midnight" or "I'm going to the movies with Ajax". The notes are different in content, but she always finds them inside her books, in a post it in the form of a cloud, a sun, a heart, a star and many other cute figures that the blonde adore. Always signed with her name and a drawing of a small pink, deformed wolf in the bottom. And yet, Wednesday keeps them all in her box. Without realizing it, she wakes up every day anxious to find these notes. To read them, laugh internally and kept with the others as her personal treasure.
The first day she didn't receive a note was the day Enid's grandmother passed away. After the funeral, the walk to their room was silent; Wednesday didn't know what to say and Enid didn't expect words of comfort either, the raven's presence was enough for her.
When they arrived in the bedroom, Enid went to her closet and took her favorite pajamas. "I'll take a shower," she said, dragging herself to the bathroom. Wednesday didn't mumble a word. She opened her desk drawer and took out a small sheet of paper and her inkwell.
Enid came out of the shower and saw that the black-haired girl was standing on her side of the room, near her bed. The she-wolf just crawled into her blankets without looking at Wednesday and covered her face with the pillow. She didn't want to talk to her roommate, nor did she care to know about her unusual behavior. She smelled the scent of Wednesday's perfume as she sat next to her. The gothic laid one of her hands on Enid's blonde hair. She cried all night.
When Enid woke up the next morning, she found herself alone. She looked around the room but didn't find any sign of Wednesday or Thing. Instead, she spotted a sheet of paper folded in half resting on her nightstand. As she unfolded it, a dried white carnation fell from it. The girl took it, let out a sigh and opened the note. Inside, in black ink and perfect calligraphy, it reads:
“Those we love never leave.”
Wednesday Addams
Enid felt warmth in her soul.
Chapter 4: Snoods/Flirt
Summary:
"You should wear your battle scars with pride. They are a reminder that you saved me"
Notes:
This was based on an quote on tumblr but I just couldn't find it.
Chapter Text
They were sitting in the middle of the quad, after a boring school day. Bianca, Divina and Yoko were gossiping about the new substitute teacher, Ajax and Xavier were playing of punching each other in the arm to see who would get a bruise first, while Eugene was devouring a bag of chips without really paying attention to the others. Wednesday was reading a book and Enid, sitting next to her, had barely touched her food, and was not participating in her friends' conversation. Something that was unusual for her and caught her friend's attention.
Wednesday looked up from her book and found Enid looking at herself in a small heart-shaped hand mirror, gently running her hand over the scars on her face. She pouted sadly and let out a sigh.
"You should wear your battle scars with pride. They are a reminder that you saved me"- Wednesday said returning to her reading- "Besides, they make you look even more feral and beautiful."
Silence reigned and everyone stopped what they were doing. They turned to look at Wednesday who avoided looking at them. Enid's face turned red and without a word she put away her mirror hiding her face in her sweater.
“Did she just…”- Asked Yoko trying hard not to laugh
“Shhh… Don’t ruin the moment”- Answered Divina
Chapter Text
Family. It was a difficult word to define.
Enid had never felt fully part of her own. As she was growing up, she noticed that she was so different from her brothers; At the beginning, she attributed it to being the youngest of the pack, but when it became impossible to her to wolf out like them, Enid understood why she didn't seem to fit in. Sure, she loved her parents and her siblings made her so happy, but she always felt misunderstood, disconnected.
Then she entered Nevermore; there she understood that family was a polysemous word.
Yoko appeared with her great style, charm, and maturity and soon, without realizing it, the vampire had become her best friend. Yoko seemed to be the first one who understood her and who made her feel appreciated. Enid knew that their friendship might seem strange, but there was no one who knew the she-wolf as well as she did. Suddenly, Divina came along and although Enid thought Yoko would stay away, it was quite the opposite. The three of them fit together perfectly and for the first time in many years, Enid felt part of a pack.
After the fight with the Hyde and all the drama of the semester, her family became bigger. Enid found in Bianca a study and practice partner for fencing and potions; in Xavier an older brother, whom she liked to torment and with who she talked about art and movies. Finally, there was Ajax who had become her confidant, with whom she enjoyed playing video games and skating in the park until the sunset.
With Wednesday and Thing, it was different. She never had to consider if they were her family. She felt like she had lived more than a thousand years with them. Wednesday was something more, something more than love. They were her life partners; she simply could not imagine what her existence would be like if they hadn't come to Nevermore that day, that day, which Enid liked to refer as the first day of the rest of her life.
"Pequeña?"- Enid felt a hand resting on her shoulder pulling her out of the memories-"It’s everything ok?"- Mr. Addams' tone was a gentle caress to the blonde's soul.
"Yes, all good. I was just remembering my friends at Nevermore. I think I miss them."
"Ah... The friends. They are the family we choose, mija. But don't worry, always remember that absence makes love grow." - He said with a dreamy voice placing a hand on his chest. Enid just smiled; she understood perfectly how Mr. Addams was in love with life. Herself endlessly adored every little thing in the world. "Now, come on, Solecito, it's your turn to put your calaverita on the altar."- Gomez handed her a white sugar skull decorated with pink, purple and blue flowers, and twigs; it had two little chocolate candies for eyes, her signature hair color and on a pink glittery paper, was written her name.
With a wave of his hand, Gomez turned his back to Enid expecting her to follow him.
"Thank you, Mr. Addams." - Enid said standing up from the couch.
"Why?"-He paused to look at her. He hadn't done anything. She was the one that should be thanked for how happy she was making his little tormenta.
“For caring…”- She answered, while smiling up to him.
"Of course, Lobita!"- Said Gomez extending his arms- Somos familia- He held her in a hug so warm that it almost made the blonde cry- Come on, you are gonna light up the first candle!"
And for the first time, Enid felt like an Addams.
Notes:
Some notes:
Traditionally, the calaveritas de dulce are placed for each member of the family, those who are alive. It is supposed to be something funny.
The altar and the light up of the candles is usually done only by the family. Also I love Gomez using pet names in Spanish
Thank you soooooo much for all the kudos!
Chapter 6: Soulmates
Summary:
Wednesday felt like she was being punished.
Notes:
I know it took me soooo long but life is hard sometimes
Thanks for all the kudos :)
Chapter Text
The reception had ended in the park of memories. It had been a short ceremony, but filled with emotions. For the first time in years, Wednesday allowed herself to cry. Whoever had ever said she was bad at feelings had definitely proved wrong. Wednesday felt too much for one lifetime and for such a small body, but she was at peace because she knew that feeling everything for Enid had been the best decision she ever made while she was with her.
She paused for a moment to look up at the sky, dyed in a peach color. It brought back the memory of the first time she had shared a kiss with her best friend. She smiled before placing the colorful flowers in the coffin; she took a handful of dirt and threw it on top of them. Neither the logic of the world ever divided them, nor had the future seemed so uncertain to her. Wednesday had always thought that she would leave before Enid and that it would be after many decades.
Perhaps this is how their story was meant to be: brief. Maybe, in this life, their pact was only meant to last an instant. She knew that soulmates were destined to meet in this or other realities, but she didn't care now. Wednesday felt like she was being punished.
"If I had known I wouldn't have so much time with you, I would have searched for you sooner."- She said before standing up, disappearing into the colors of the sky.
