Chapter Text
Two people are walking around the catacombs. They were bored during their free period and decided to explore the underground tunnels beneath their school.
Both of these students are hybrids which is much more common nowadays than it was when their parents were young. There was a girl with a ponytail and snakes coming out of it. There are wings folded on her back as well. She has bandage wraps, sunglasses, and a green and gold dress. There are snakes and scarabs all over the outfit, giving it many little details. The other was a boy who had light pink fur-like skin and fangs. There are wolf ears on top of brown hair that swivel at every noise. Bat platforms make him taller, still a couple of inches shorter than the girl. He’s wearing a jacket for the soccer team and a pink dress shirt with a black vest over it, and black shorts show off more fur. The vest has a night sky embroidered on it. Jewelry also adorns both people.
“Nubia, do you even know where we’re going?” The boy asks, crossing his arms and giving her a skeptical face as they keep walking. “Honestly, not really. I’m just walking and taking random turns” Nubia says, not looking at the boy. He rubs his hands down his face, “Oh my God, we’re never getting out of here.”
“Calm down Wolfy. We’ll just call Mitch if we’re lost. His family knows this place like the backs of their hands.” The snake girl reasons, but Wolfy still looks pouty. That is until they heard a bang behind a door up ahead. They stop and look at each other, having a conversation with their eyes.
Finally, they decide to investigate the sound, walking up to the closed door. As they open it, a scene is played out in front of them. Roberto, a steam-powered robot, was standing under a giant disk, trying to hold it up as the machine it goes looks like it accidentally turned on. Acting fast, Nubia goes to shut down the machine as Wolfy helps Roberto lift the disk to the place it is supposed to sit.
Once that’s done Roberto starts to speak, “Well hello! Thanks for the help, you guys. I was in a pickle with that one” He ends up rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. “No problem, but what are you doing?” Nubia asks, walking over to the two boys. “Oh, I found all of these old parts in my grandfather’s old workshop and I’m trying to put the invention back together again. From what my mother’s notes say, it’s a time machine!” He claps his hands together in joy, “All I need to do now is attach this disk and we’re good to go.”
Roberto turns to screw the big thing into place. “Do you believe in this time travel thing?” Wolfy asks Nubia, whispering to not make the robot sad. She shakes her head, “I’m not sure but we can see how it goes.”
“There we go! We can start it up now.” Roberto says, moving over to the control center, he flips a couple of switches. Suddenly, the disk lights up a light blue color. “Woah!” The friends exclaim, not thinking anything would happen.
Strong winds start to come from the portal, pulling the two closer. Nubia’s wings fly out trying to hold her back, but the wind is too heavy for the both of them as they get dragged through. Roberto tries to shut it off but it’s taking the energy from everything else in the room.
Nubia and Wolfy disappear into the portal just as it shut off. “Oh no.” That is all Roberto could say as he looks at the reflective disk his friends just gotten lost in.

They’re screaming as they feel like they're falling. But as soon as it starts, it stops, dropping into a room that looks similar to the one they were just in. This one has fewer inventions around and it’s cold and dark.
“No no no no no no, this can’t be happening. We are getting into so much trouble!” Wolfy started to hyperventilate, “Hey hey, you need to calm down. Take deep breaths with me, okay?” As they do that, Wolfy gets calmer and calmer.
“Okay, we should go find someone to help us,” Nubia said, starting to walk out of the room. They navigate the catacombs as best as they can until they find an elevator. Stepping inside they ascend above the ground. What they see makes them pause. People lounge outside the school talking to one another and they see some of their friends' parents, much younger but it’s still them.
“This cannot be happening,” Wolfy says understanding that their parents will also be here.
