Work Text:
Craig and Tweek were hanging out in Craig’s room as they usually do, everyday after school. They weren’t doing anything really just basking in each other’s company.
Craig has recently been picking up on more of Tweek’s anxious mannerisms. At the moment Craig is guessing the blond is having a more anxiety ridden day. Normally the boy’s hands just twitch occasionally and his nervous twitches don’t happen too often. Or at least in Craig’s presence.
At the moment, Craig notices that’s Tweek’s hands are shaking and along with his nervous twitches, he lets out a yelp occasionally. Normally Craig would ask Tweek if he’s alright however he’s found that it’s not really effective. The latter normally glares at him, tells him he’s fine or that he’s never really “alright”. Not very positive responses, so Craig decided to just stop asking.
Tweek was just scrolling on his phone. Craig would look over occasionally but he was really just focusing Tweek’s movements.
The blond hadn’t pulled on his hair or started picking at the skin around his nails or biting his lip yet. So Craig has to assume Tweek’s going to have a panic attack sooner or later. He hasn’t quite figured out how to stop the panic attacks from occurring.
Even when they’re laying next to each other, doing nothing, he still has one. Craig tries asking him if he would like to do something, to try and distract him but that doesn’t help either. Trying to tell Tweek he’s being irrational and illogical doesn’t help either, if anything it brings a negative reaction from Tweek.
Craig is really at a lost with this.
After staring up at the ceiling for a while he looks back to Tweek’s phone. He notices the boy is on instagram, looking at stories of their friends and other people at school. Nothing too interesting is on his phone so Craig looks away again. He stares up at the ceiling of his room.
The ugly popcorn ceiling with messily place glow-in-the dark stars. He knows the placement of the stars by heart. He’s continuously bothered by the stars placed too close together and the way they aren’t spread evenly across the ceiling.
He’s completely forgotten about the blond laying on his chest. That is until Tweek let’s out a “Argh-“ and his head jerks. Then, Tweek sits up rather frantically. Craig shoots him a confused look but Tweek doesn’t meet his gaze.
Tweek’s eyes are searching around frantically and he grips his arms quite harshly. “Honey, are you alright?” Craig says concerned, sitting up as well. Well Craig feels concerned but he’s not sure his voice showed that.
The other boy doesn’t make any indication to hear him.
Tears begin to well up in Tweek’s eyes and his hands move to grip his messy blond hair. His eyes are still frantically searching around the room, however never meeting the other’s concerned gaze.
“Tweek” Craig says again, a bit more sternly. Tweek breaks into sobs as his expression seems to turn into frustration. He starts yanking his hair and the other feels frantic.
Craig is slowly reaching out a hand towards the blond. Then Tweek finally meets the other’s eyes. Craig stops moving and Tweek looks at him with frustration. Craig feels like he should something.
Maybe say something like, ‘stop’ or ‘what are you anxious about?’ but the seemingly angry look on Tweek’s face makes his mind feel blank.
“argh-“ Tweek let’s out a noise and twitches. He looks up at the ceiling and yanks particularly hard at his hair. His hands were shaking so badly and his breathes quick and uneven.
Craig is still at a lost for words as his boyfriend has a panic attack. That is until Tweek’s hands are in front of him, with two fistfuls of hair. His frantic breathing stops and he seems to stop shaking as he stares in disbelief at the hair in his hands.
He looks up at Craig with wide, tearful eyes. Craig’s eyes are also wide as saucers. “I- I- ngh- pulled out- my hair!” Tweek frantically screams. He shoves his fistful of hair in Craig’s face.
The hair falls from his hands as he seems to cry harder and panic more. His whole body seems to jerk and rack with his sobs. His hands shakily reach up to his hair again but instead of pulling at it, he just runs his hands through it in a frenzied way.
Craig swiftly pulls the chullo off his head and puts it onto his boyfriend’s head. Tweek looks at him with surprise, his hands stopped in mid-air, still shaking.
Craig takes a hold of the other’s hands and brings it to the strings of his hat. As Tweek’s hands wrap around the string, Craig puts his hands on the blond’s shoulders. Tweek just looks at him in a confused daze.
He hesitantly brings the boy into a tight embrace. Tweek doesn’t return the hug for a moment, he’s still in the other’s hold. His sobs and harsh breathing filling the silence.
Tweek’s feels more tears well in his eyes as he grips tightly onto Craig’s sweater. Craig had a feather light touch on Tweek’s back. “You’ll be alright babe, I’m here” Craig tried to make his tone soft but he’s not sure it sounds right.
“Thanks Craig” Tweek says but it’s muffled against Craig’s sweater. Tweek’s still shaking in his embrace but his sobs aren’t too harsh and his breathing seems fine. He’s stopped his nervous twitching but Craig could feel his hands shaking and twitching against his back.
“Did that help?” Craig asked, unsure that he’s doing the right thing.
Tweek’s doesn’t even seems to hear him as he doesn’t answer. He’s probably still stuck in his own head. “Craig?” Tweek calls out, his voice still muffled.
Craig hums in response.
“Do you- do you actually like me?” Tweek mumbles. His voice so low and quiet, Criag only heard him because he’s so close to his ear. “You’re my boyfriend” Criag dead pans. He’s confused on why Tweek would say such a thing. Why would they be boyfriends if Craig didn’t like him? Why would Craig go through that trouble.
“I know- argh- but do you really- like me?” Tweek replies softly. “Yeah I do” Craig says. His voice back to its regular tone, finally feeling like Tweek was calming down. Tweek let’s out a “mrgh” and turns his head bury it into Craig’s shoulder. “You- you don’t sound like you do- ack” Tweek says into his boyfriend’s shoulder. His head jerks to the side at the end of his sentence.
Craig feels…weird. His chest felt tight and it felt like it hurt. Was Tweek feeling anxious because of Craig? Did Tweek not feel Craig’s love for him? He didn’t know what to say, he doesn’t really know how to make it sound like he likes Tweek.
If anything, it seems easier to just run away then try and figure out how to convey to Tweek he actually enjoys his company and likes him being around. He doesn’t even really know why he enjoys Tweek’s company, he just does.
He’s not very good at communicating, nonetheless conveying how he was feeling.
“Sorry for making you feel like I don’t like you Tweek but i do. I like being around you and I want to be with you all the time” Craig replies. His cheeks heat up and his chest swells, a feeling he’s still getting used to. Criag lets out a groan and buries his head into Tweek’s shoulder.
He feels Tweek lift his head. “Craig. Are you- argh- alright?” Tweek asks, voice laced with concern. “I’m fine sweetheart” Craig says against the blond’s shoulder. “Just feel weird” he adds. “oh god- ngh- are you sick Criag?” Tweek says frantically.
“No i’m not sick. I’m just- you make me feel all weird” Craig replies. Tweek pulls away from the hug to look at Craig’s face. His face is beat red and his hands are covering his cheeks.
“ack- like good or bad weird?” Tweek asks. The blond puts his hands on Craig’s shoulders. “Good weird i guess” Craig replies. He couldn’t bring himself to look at Tweek. His heartbeat was elevating and he felt so embarrassed he gets like this.
“I really like you Tweek and I’m sorry I don’t know how to convey that” Craig replies. Tweek feels his face flush at Craig’s words. “Thank you- argh- for telling me Criag” Tweek replies and quickly plants a kiss on Craig’s cheek.
Craig felt like he was about to faint or something. Craig puts his hands on Tweek’s shoulders and puts his head on the blond’s lap. “You’re welcome babe” he mutters.
“Oh god- ngh- was that too much?” Tweek says and his head jerks. “No, it’s fine honey” Craig replies.
