Summary:

George is tired. Alex happens to be in the last open bed.

Work Text:

"You might want to find another room." Alex called from his bed in the on-call room.

George was exhausted and just wanted to sleep, but with the latest crisis at Seattle Grace, nearly everyone was on call for the night. Due to a severe car accident involving multiple victims, many of the doctors decided to stay at the hospital in case anything else came up. He had already checked four other rooms before the one he was currently standing in.

"Are you kidding?" George groaned. "Is everyone staying here tonight?"

"Yup. Can't you just go to Mere's?" Alex asked.

"She's staying too, I don't have a key. Not much choice."

"She didn't give you a key? Are you sure you're her roommate and not some creep staying there?" Alex joked, trying to whisper to not wake any of the other doctors.

"Oh, shut up."

"You can stay here if you need." Alex said.

"You just said it's full?"

"Yeah but I'll scoot over. We can share."

George felt himself blush. He put a hand up to his face, trying to fake a yawn. It wasn't very convincing.

"See, you're too tired to move." Alex teased. He moved over to the right side of the bed, leaving just enough space for George to lie down.

"Fine, but don't make it weird." George said as he walked over and sat on the bed.

"Me? You're the one who's making it weird."

"Just go to sleep."

Alex laughed quietly in response. George felt his heart skip a beat as he laid down next to the other intern. As he tried to get comfortable he felt Alex wrap an arm around his waist.

"What are you doing?"

"Be quiet. Sleep." Alex muttered into his back.

George laid there in shock, heart beating fast. He slowly tried to relax and close his eyes, which he did within a few minutes. He and Alex laid there, with only a couple inches in-between them. George's heart was racing. He had never felt this way before, especially not around Alex Karev. He tried to move away and put more space between him and Alex, but Alex just clung onto him tighter.

"Relax O'Malley. I can feel you freaking out." He whispered.

"I'm not freaking out."

"Sure."

George turned abruptly and was now face to face with Alex.

"You're an ass." He said. Alex smiled.

"You're adorable."

"I- What?"

"You heard me."
