Regency England is a delightful place to fall in love, but it is even better when magic is just around the corner.
Elizabeth Bennet is a bright naturalist with a particular interest in making a study of spiders. She studies her spiders happily in Hertfordshire until it is clear someone is trying to attack her. Her brother John Bennet sends her away to his good friend Duke Darcy's estate in Derbyshire. The duke is a cold, forbidding man, who seems to want to remind Elizabeth that she is not allowed in certain spaces in his estate, but she is far too taken by his handsome features to be scared off for long.
Fitzwilliam Matlock, the Duke of Darcy is a man who cannot allow himself to love. His family carries a terrible curse, and he refuses to pass that along to his children. He lives in seclusion in his estate Pemberley, seeking to trouble no one and expecting no one to trouble him. That all changes when he honors a favor for an old friend and opens his house up to a Miss Elizabeth Bennet. She immediately disrupts his peace, and far more disturbing to Duke Darcy, she awakens desire and passion he thought he would never have. More surprising still is how their souls are intrinsically intertwined.
