Summary
Zack lives in a conquered land. Land conquered by invading vampiric armies. He is an untouchable, someone who is designated at birth to be the one that may never be touched, but used as an outlet for any all village stressers. He’s isolated, he can’t trade, he can’t sell, he can’t buy, he can’t live within his village. But he can be ridiculed and abused by the village populace, used as their outlet for frustrations. It’s simultaneously an awful life, a spit upon life, but a virtuous and holy life. All that changes when their new conquerors want offerings of people to be made into slaves for blood. His village, unwilling to part with any of their own, reluctantly offers their most holy, and most abused person to the vampires. And these vampires, who scoff at his people’s traditions and religion, decide on making use of Zack’s allotment in life, but not in any holy of virtuous way.
