Eldritch!Xie Lian ficlet

Summary:

A silly ficlet about eldritch Xie Lian and human Hua Cheng, told via a fake scientific journal. If you’re a real scientist, I’m very sorry. :D

As I’ve established in previous studies, San Lang considers me to be his mate despite the species mismatch. (Of course, I have permanently shifted to my species’ “mated” matter state to respect this.) This study is a follow-up on the activities he has introduced to our specimen-researcher relationship.

Notes:

Original idea:

Human Hua Cheng stumbles into the lair of eldritch creature Xie Lian, and Xie Lian decides this is the perfect opportunity to study humanity. He has a very cute, very willing human right here! (Hua Cheng fell in love immediately.)

He starts out with experiments like “how high can humans jump” and stuff, but eventually he pivots to an extended study of humans’ habits in long-term romantic relationships with eldritch beings. For science, of course!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

As you may know if you’ve read my 46 previous studies on this specimen (referred to as “San Lang” from here on), I have been caring for a human for some time. He is mostly unwilling to socialize with his fellow humans. I did get him to briefly interact with Shi Qingxuan and Quan Yizhen’s human specimens, but he has communicated via simple throat vocalizations that he prefers to socialize with me.

As I’ve established in previous studies, San Lang considers me to be his mate despite the species mismatch. (Of course, I have permanently shifted to my species’ “mated” matter state to respect this.) This study is a follow-up on the activities he has introduced to our specimen-researcher relationship. Short list of most common activities:

- Touching outside of oral cavity to outside of tendrils
- Sharing information via vocalizations
- Consumption of human food items I have interacted with
- Creation of simple 2D or 3D art pieces depicting the aspects of my body he can comprehend
- Rhythmic insertion of tendrils into orifices

I would have included the results of a survey I conducted on San Lang’s preferences, but he rated all of them 5/5 stars every time I asked, so there isn’t really anything for a graph.

Moving on: the habits of this species are fascinating and

In conclusion, humans are incredible creatures, and in my completely unbiased opinion, San Lang is the most incredible one out of all of them. Despite only being able to comprehend 4 dimensions, he is intelligent, gentle, and a committed mate. We should all appreciate how wonderful he is, and how much he’s contributed to research on 4-dimensional creatures. Thank you for reading.
