The nightmares had become less frequent, but Law wasn’t sure they would ever entirely disappear. He had learnt to deal with them.
That was why he was awake when Luffy shot up next to him, panting and sweating, and Law automatically extended an arm to steady him. Luffy felt everything at a hundred percent, both the good and the bad, and the nightmares were no different.
“What was it this time?” Law asked, voice just above a whisper to match the sliver of moonlight that fell in through the porthole.
“The lava,” Luffy whispered back. “I was drowning in it.”
Law didn’t say that you couldn’t drown in lava, it would burn you before that ever happened, and instead just held Luffy close.
