Chapter 1: An Undesired Reunion
Summary:
Ada finds Luis, along with a call from an old face
Chapter Text
Ada shut the door behind her, hearing her pursuers yelling out where they thought she went. When confirming that, yes, she was in the clear, she looked around the room she hid herself in. Her eyes widened a little when they landed on a familiar face in a chair.
A face she hadn't seen in six months
"Luis?" she asked as she headed over to him. When she got a closer look, she saw that he had his eyes close and obviously not responding to her. She placed two fingers on his neck, relaxing a bit when feeling a pulse.
He was still alive. She wouldn't know what to do if her partner was dead. Sure, he wasn't in the best condition but that was better than a corpse in her book.
Who would've guessed that Ada would get attached to the Spaniard?
She wiped off a little bit of blood from his cheek, letting out a little sigh. "Idiot. What did you get yourself wrapped up in now?" she muttered quietly. Her thumb paused as she saw Luis' eyes flicker open.
"Hmm... Ada?" he asked hoarsely, turning his head to face her. "Yeah, I'm here," Ada reassured quietly, making the Spaniard smile. He then grabbed her wrist gently, placing a soft kiss on her palm. She felt her face warm up at the action but made no move to stop him.
Oh, how she missed this. His gentle touch. His soft kisses. It truly wasn't the same without him.
"You have a lot of explaining to do," she stated. Luis drawled out a sigh in response. "I know. And you'll get it," he promised. Ada was going to say something else, but the sound of something ringing made her stop. She grabbed the device that was ringing. When she looked to see who was calling, it shifted to a cube.
"Simmons?" Ada asked, seeing the man's face on the cube. "Ada Wong. It's been a long time," the man said. "Not long enough," Ada stated. "I see you still like to play games."
"Old habits," Simmons replied. "Besides, a phone call can be so...impersonal." Ada was silent for a moment as she placed her hand on her arm. "Oh, did you like the gift I left you?" he then asked. Ada glanced over at Luis, making the quick connection that he was the 'gift'.
"I prefer them in good condition," she said as she joined Luis' side, seeing that he was becoming more alert to everything. "Now, what is it that you want?" she asked, turning her attention to the cube again.
"I've received some interesting intel on you, Ms. Wong," Simmons admitted. "Intel that'll influence your future. Curious?"
Ada gave a slight scoff. "Not in the slightest," she stated. However, she was sent something. When she took a closer look, she saw some coordinates. She looked over at Luis, who raised a brow at her.
"Are you actually not curious at all?" Luis asked. Ada looked back at the device, staying silent for a moment. "Maybe I am a little curious," she admitted before looking back at him.
"But first, we need to get you cleaned up," she stated, causing Luis to laugh.
"Am I really that bad?"
----
Ada waited outside the bathroom, the two making a pit stop to their shared apartment to let Luis get cleaned and changed. She looked at the cube, her thoughts focused on what Simmons wanted her to see.
She sat down at the table, turning on the laptop that lay there. After logging in, she looked up where she was going, should she actually take up Simmons' offer. When she saw where they would bring her, she raised a brow.
The place Simmons wanted her to go was an abandoned submarine. She tilted her head, wondering why Simmons wanted her to go there. What was so special about this submarine?
She didn't have much time to dwell on these questions when she heard the shower turn off. She turned her body and saw Luis come out of the bathroom, buttoning up his shirt.
"Whew. I forgot what it felt like to take a hot shower," he said with a laugh. "Find anything about where Simmons wants to take you?" he then asked. He pulled a chair over to sit next to her.
"Some submarine," she replied, moving to let him have a better look at what she found. "Got any ideas on why he wants me here?" The look on Luis' face told her that he at least had an idea.
"I'm not fully sure, so I won't say anything. But I do have my suspicions about what Simmons' 'intel' is," Luis admitted, having Ada shake her head with a slight laugh. "I guess being gone for six months wasn't enough for you to not be secretive," she teased.
"Not like you're any different, Ada. I'm sure you still have some things you're hiding from me," Luis said with a grin. Ada didn't say anything in response, but the way Luis' grin grew wider told her that her face said it all.
"Speaking of being gone for six months..." she said, deciding to cut to the chase. "You still need to tell me where you ran off to," she reminded him.
Luis let out a soft laugh. "Still a stickler for details, huh?" he asked. Ada hummed in response.
"So, where did you go? Back to Valdelobos? Find some other isolated place?"
Luis chuckled at her guesses, even if none of them were serious. "Oh, you'll be surprised at what kind of mess I got dragged into this time," he admitted. "I don't think there's anything that can beat what you've done, Luis," Ada pointed out him.
"Perhaps, perhaps not. Just hear me out, alright?" he requested. "You know I always do," she said, having Luis let out a soft sigh. "You probably also want to get comfortable. It is a long one."
Ada raised a brow but shrugged. "Whenever you're ready, Luis."
Luis took another breath. "So, six months ago, after that little job I was assigned..."

Chapter Text
Luis tossed up a small gem, catching it before it hit the ground. "Sorry, amigo. Orders are orders," he said to the now dead body of the person he got the jewel from. He walked off, pressing a finger on the earpiece he wore.
"Good news, Ada. Got our target," he said as he opened a couple of drawers in the office he was in. "And found a pretty little gem." "Planning on selling that little gem?" Ada asked, causing him to let out a laugh. "If the price it right."
"Just don't linger around for too long. Who knows what kind of trouble might come," she warned. "Yeah, yeah, I know. Don't worry, I'll be careful," he promised, grinning a bit. "If you say so," she simply replied.
"Hey, after this, wanna go out for some drinks? They'll be on me," he offered, changing the subject. The woman on the other end gave a small laugh. "Fine, if that'll make you happy," she replied. "Then it's a date," he said, grinning wider.
"Whatever you say, Luis," Ada simply replied with before hanging up. Luis laughed a bit as he did a more thorough search of the office. "Always a tease," he muttered, grabbing a file he found. He opened it up and began to skim through it, seeing if there was anything interesting.
He didn't get too far before something caught his attention.
From the corner of his eye, Luis caught sight of some headlights. "Oh mierda," he muttered, setting the file down.
He cracked a window open, carefully stepping onto the ledge. He shut it behind him before taking a look to see a few cars parked in front of the building. "Adios," he muttered, taking out a hookshot that Ada had given him a few weeks ago. He aimed it at a billboard and fired it, using it to swing his way to the roof of a building nearby.
He landed near the edge, loosing his balance a bit. He luckily regained it before he fell down and got more towards the middle of the roof. He looked around to figure out his next course of action. "Oh, you gotta be kidding me," he muttered when seeing one of the cars from the building heading towards his direction.
"Sorry, Ada. Looks like drinks might be delayed," he said quietly before he moved from rooftop to rooftop to loose whoever was trying to follow him. When he headed to one specific roof, he raised a brow when seeing someone familiar.
It was...Ada. But instead of her usual red outfit, she was wearing a blue dress with a red scarf.
"Hey, señorita. Changing up the colors?" Luis asked as he headed closer to her. "Red is more of your color but...blue does look nice on you too," he admitted, looking at her up and down.
Ada simply rolled her eyes, causing him to frown a bit. Maybe she was in a bad mood?
"You alright, Ada? You usually like my compliments," he reminded her. "Let's go," she said, completely dodging the question. Before Luis could question her, she began to run off. "Oye, wait up!" he called out as he quickly went after her.
"Are we still doing drinks tonight?" he asked hopefully. However, he got nothing in response. Damn, did he really offend her with his compliment or something? She usually never gave him the cold shoulder.
"Hey, if it's about what I said, I didn't mean it in a bad way. Blue's your color too," he said, trying to get some form of response out of her. But, no luck. She was still refusing to talk to him.
Before he could try any other way to get her attention, she suddenly stopped. He quickly skidded to a stop as well. "Are you going to tell me why you're-" he began to ask before Ada suddenly turned around and punched him right in the face.
Luis stepped back, putting his hand over his nose with a cry of pain. When he moved his hand, he saw some blood on it. "Joder, not even Chris or Leon hit that hard," he muttered, looking at Ada. "What do you think you're doing?" he then asked. Sure, he might've said some things that probably annoyed her in the past. He'll admit that. But did that really mean he deserved to get socked right in the face?
Of course, he got no response. Instead, she tried to kick at his head. However, Luis was more prepared and moved out of the way. "If this some kind of- whoa! -prank, then it's not really funny," he stated as he tried his best to dodge or block each of Ada's attacks. It was pretty hard since, man, she moved quick.
"Okay, haha, very funny, Ada. Great joke. You can stop trying to-"
Luis cut himself off with a grunt when he got kicked in the stomach. He held it, coughing a bit. It hurt badly because of both the force and the fact that the woman was wearing some damn heels. He didn't have time to recover before he was given a head kick. His vision blurred and he fell to the ground.
He looked up at Ada, who was holding a gun, the butt of it pointed at him. "Sorry, Luis. Orders are orders," she said, her voice sounding a bit muffled by the Spaniard's ears. The last thing he saw was the butt of the gun hitting his face before the world went dark.
----
When Luis came to, his head was pounding. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying to wait for the pain to subside. What the hell happened to him?
Before he could even recall anything, he heard footsteps. He opened his eyes and saw Ada walk in, still wearing that blue dress and red scarf.
"Ah, glad you're finally awake, Dr. Serra," Ada stated, her hands behind her back. "I need your help with something." Luis raised a brow at how Ada referred to him. She never called him doctor. She always said his first name, even when he was being more of the biologist he studied to be.
"You're acting really weird, Ada," he said as he watch her circle around him. "You never call me that." "Maybe I've decided to change my mind," she stated. "Right...well, what exactly you needed my help for? And why the hell did you knock me out?" he asked.
"To make sure I had your cooperation," Ada replied to his second question as she kept walking around him. "What I need your help with is to find a vaccine for a new virus called the C-Virus," she then said. "The...C-Virus?" he asked as Ada stood in front of him.
"A combination of t-Veronica and Golgotha virus," she explained. "Wait...Golgatha...as in the G-Virus? Dr. Birkin's project?" he asked, having her nod. "You don't know about t-Veronica?" she asked, having him shrug.
"Well, anyways, we do have two possible candidates whose blood could have what we need," she said, holding out the cube device. She then pulled up two profiles of a young man and woman. The names he saw were Sherry Birkin and Jake Muller.
"Recognize them?" Ada asked. "I know of Sherry. Don't know her personally," Luis admitted. "And Jake?" she asked, looking at him as if she was expecting some kind of reaction. "Mmm...nope," he said, popping the 'p'. "Nothing is clicking."
"He's Wesker's kid," Ada replied, putting away the cube. "They both have certain viruses in their blood. One of them could have what we need," she continued.
"Okay...first, Wesker had a kid? Never knew he was actually the type." Luis was pretty surprised at the news of his former superior actually having a son. He thought the man would see himself above everyone else.
"Second, what if I refuse to do this project? I mean, you're basically asking me to experiment on these two," he said, thinking Ada wasn't going to do anything. However, he was proven wrong when a gun right at his head. "If you refuse, I'll blow your brains out here and now and turn you into taco meat," she threatened.
Luis stared at the gun for a moment. "You know, that is a very good reason to not deny it," he said, his voice a bit strained to hide how terrified he was. Ada lowered the gun but didn't put it away. "Glad we're on the same page. You'll start working tomorrow," she said before she left the room. He watched her until he heard the sound of a door opening and closing. Once he knew she was gone, he sighed.
"Ada, what has gotten into you?'
----
During the next six months, Luis was pretty sure this job that he was "hired" to do at this Neo-Umbrella cooperation was borderline illegal.
Every time he would have to go and draw some blood, Jake would try to attack him and Sherry would glare at him. So, that checked off that they weren't consenting.
He was also pretty sure that the "vaccine" he was making was not actually one. He wasn't seeing a decrease of these "J'avo" nor was he hearing that it was at least making progress. So, either he wasn't getting anywhere (which he doubted since he has seen that his vaccine was doing something to the virus) or this was Los Iluminados all over again and he was making a stronger virus without doing anything directly. Again.
He really just loved to attract some kind of trouble with bio-weapons, didn't he?
However, Luis did have a plan on how to get out of here. Would it work? Not likely. But, Luis would take any chance he would get.
So, he waited until a J'avo came into his lab. He knew that they understood basic human needs. And since no one was breathing down his neck anymore, he could try to take his chance.
His chance came and a J'avo came into the lab. "Oye, amigo, mind if I take a little bathroom break?" he asked. The J'avo said something that Luis assumed to be just gibberish before doing a motion to follow.
The Spaniard did so and once far away enough, he grabbed the J'avo by the head and snapped its neck. "Thank you, BSAA," he muttered. He then dragged the body into an empty room and changed into what the J'avo was wearing.
He peaked his head out to make sure no more were coming before he left the room and quickly went to find an exit. Maybe he could catch a ride if there were any that were going to go out or something.
After a lot of twists and turns and having to pretend to be just a J'avo on patrol (thank god he didn't need to talk or else he was going to be more toasted than his grandfather), he did eventually find his way out.
He removed the mask, taking a deep breath of the sweet fresh air. He couldn't enjoy his freedom for long since he heard someone sneak up behind him. Before he could see who it was, he felt something hit the back of his head, knocking him out. Again.
----
Back at the present, Luis leaned back in his seat after he finished his little story. Of course, he left parts out, like the second Ada, the Neo-Umbrella, and Sherry and Jake. Mostly because he didn't know what she knew about everything and didn't want to feel like a jackass.
Plus, even if she didn't know, it would be nice to be the one who's more in the know for the first time around.
"So, that's what happened, huh?" Ada asked, leaning back. "From memory. I'm sure I had those moments of coming on and out of conscious but you don't remember those too well sometimes," Luis said.
She hummed, leaning forward a bit. "Well, now I'm curious if the submarine has information about the little project you were forced to work on," she admitted, crossing her arms. "Really?" he asked, blinking a bit.
"Yes. We'll go in a couple of days. I need to make sure we have a way to get there," she said with a slight grin. Luis grinned right back.
"Let's go treasure hunting."

Chapter 3: Finding Pieces
Summary:
Ada and Luis begin to explore the submarine
Chapter Text
Two days after Ada found Luis, the two arrived near the body of water that this submarine that Simmons wanted Ada to go to was at. Luis looked around and she could see the confusion on his face.
"So, how are we going down there?" Luis asked as he looked over at her. "Maybe what I learned has now been disproven but I'm pretty sure we can't just swim down there." Ada gave him a slight smile. "I managed to get us a couple of suits," she replied as she led him where their diving suits were.
Luis followed and she couldn't help but laugh as she watched his face shift from excitement to a bit of disappointment when seeing that the suits were not what he imagined.
"I was imagining something more...spy like," he admitted when seeing the bulky suits. "Just get in," she said as she got into one. He followed suit.
When the suits were all set up and ready to go, the two dived into the sea. They descended down until they found the submarine that they needed to go into. They swam toward it and worked together to opened the hatch. They then descended into the submarine.
Once inside, the two opened the suits before they climbed up.
"Mierda, that was a bit cramped," Luis admitted, popping his back a bit. Ada stepped out, raising a hand to silence him as her little communicator went off. She took it out, shifting it to a cube as she answered it to see Simmons on it again.
"I knew you couldn't resist," he said as she and Luis began to walk. "We're just here to find out what you're up to," Ada stated. "Then by all means, proceed," Simmons stated.
"So you know, Level 4 requires a handprint access," Simmons admitted. "I'll make sure you're both recognized." "You've got both our prints on file?" Ada asked, a bit surprised. She glanced over at Luis, who just shrugged in response.
"You're not playing around, are you?" she then asked, looking back the cube with a bit of an impressed look. She didn't expect Simmons to go this far for just something he wanted her to know.
"Oh, I got much more than just your prints, Ms. Wong," Simmons stated. "You'll see. Good luck." He then hung up.
Ada put the device away before looking over at Luis. "Let's see what he's hiding," she said to the Spaniard. "Don't need to tell me twice," Luis said as he joined at her side.
They headed to a door and Ada twisted it open. Once it was unlocked, she opened it before the two went down the path the door opened for them. Once reaching towards the end, they both went behind a wall since they saw a guard.
"We could go say hi. But we do have somewhere to go," Luis muttered quietly. "This is the new breed you mentioned?" Ada asked quietly. "One of them," he replied. "Here, let me take care of this one," he then said.
He went behind the guard, snapping its neck in one clean motion. "Never fail to impress," she said, having him grin. "Told you I learned something there."
Ada chose to shake her head in amusement as her response. The two kept walking around the submarine, the path they should follow being easy enough to follow. They ran into a few more of the guards but Ada decided to take care of them.
She used her crossbow on most of them considering that the two were trying to not create much attention. So, Luis just hung back and made sure she didn't miss anyone.
There was one where she decided to slam into the ground with her legs. Was she just trying to show off? Maybe. And she definitely got Luis to get a reaction.
The Spaniard let out a whistle. "Remind me to not mess with you," he said with a grin as the two kept going further into the submarine.
When they walked into a room that would get them around a barrier, Ada shot the guard in there. However, instead of just falling down and turning into nothing, this one seemed to decide to take a page out of the plaga's handbook and have something explode out of it.
She glanced over to see Luis recoil a bit. She couldn't blame him. Even if what happened in Spain was years ago now, it still was disturbing to see it.
Luckily, it wasn't too much of a pain and Ada managed to take care of it with just her crossbow. The two then kept moving, going through another vent.
They kept following the linear path, jumping down to the next floor. They then arrived somewhere that was a bit too high up, even if they boosted each other. Luis looked over at Ada with a grin.
"Shall we go up together?" he offered, holding up his hookshot. "We don't want to be late, right?"
Ada chuckled quietly. "If you want to hold me, just say so," she said with a teasing smile as the Spaniard wrapped an arm around her waist. "Well, I didn't want to come off as needy," he said with a chuckle.
Luis fired the hookshot, lifting them both to the air and onto the area above. He let go of Ada once they were standing on the ground, putting away the gadget. The two then kept moving.
Ada took out a couple more guards with her crossbow. After arriving at a small set of stairs that would lead them down, they quickly took cover. Luis moved behind a wall and Ada behind a railing that hid her well.
The guards waiting for them below had some guns on them. Ada knew that her crossbow probably wouldn't be the best since she might get torn up before she could get half of them down. "Looks like it's your time to shine, Luis," she said.
Luis grinned as he pulled out his handgun. "Got my back?" he asked. "Always do," she assured.
He moved out from where he hid, firing his gun at the guards below. Ada peaked out from her own spot to fire at them as well. It didn't take them too long to take care of them and they kept moving.
Ada placed a hand on Luis' chest when they reached the next area to stop him from walking. She looked over and saw his confused look. She then tilted her head to the other room. "There's an alarm," she whispered.
Luis' face shifted to one of understanding. Without another word, he stepped back and let her take the charge.
Ada slipped out from behind the wall they hid behind. She fired her crossbow at the guards, not giving them the chance to set off the alarm and possibly cause them a bigger problem. After taking care of the last few, she motioned Luis to catch up to her.
When Luis was close enough, she led him down to the floor below them. They then went through a vent, the other side leading them to a room that made Ada think for a split second that they were on a yacht rather than a submarine.
"You never did have taste, did you, Simmons?" she muttered quietly as she looked around. "Right, let's split up. Chances are, we need to unlock something," she said, looking over at Luis. The Spaniard gave a nod before he walked off to do some exploring.
After a couple of minutes of Ada trying to figure out how the lock to the door worked, she heard Luis call out. "Hey, there's something here! But I can't look through it. There's something blocking the view."
Ada headed over to what Luis was talking about. "Oh, I think I know how to fix that," she said. She went around and pressed a button below of the mounted sheep head. The horns of the sheep shifted and she at least hoped Luis could look through now.
"Ah, it worked," Luis said. He was then silent for a moment, causing Ada to raise a brow. "The picture...shifted," he said after a moment. She became confused and headed over to where he was. "Let me see," she said. He moved out of the way and she looked through it.
Sure enough, the picture did change. "A bit unsettling, no?" Luis asked. "You're telling me. Might be related to the door, though," Ada muttered.
She backed away and looked over at the Spaniard. "You get two, I get two?" he assumed. "You read my mind," she said. The two then went to the stands that had pieces of the lock that was near the door. After a bit of them making sure everything looked right, Luis pressed the button. When the light turned green, he let out a sigh of relief.
"Well, that was a pain in the ass," Ada said as she opened the door. She stepped out, accidentally triggering something to have a gun go off. She quickly moved out of the way, relieved that she didn't drop dead.
She couldn't say the same about the poor soul that also happened to be in the line of fire.
"You alright?" Luis asked, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Yeah. Guess it's a good thing that teamwork isn't their thing here," she said, causing him to laugh. "Watch your step," she then warned.
The two continued to go further into the submarine. Once reaching to where there was the trigger for the gun, Ada held her hand up to stop Luis from moving. She peaked around the corner and saw another guard there. She quickly moved to trigger the defense system before moving back to safety.
She peaked around the corner again and saw the guard now dead. "Let's go," she said before the two continued down.
They reached the end of the path, ending up at a door with a handprint scanner. She placed her hand on it and was given access. "He wasn't kidding," she muttered as the duo walked into the room.
There was a projector aimed at the wall. Luis headed over to it, checking to see if there was anything in it. "Well?" she asked, crossing her arms.
"There's something in here. Ready to look at it?" he asked, looking at her. She nodded and he started the projection. The two then brought their focus to the wall as the video played.
"My dearest Ada Wong," Simmons' voice began to say in the video as images of things Ada didn't really recognized flashed through. "Jake Muller has been located in the Republic of Edonia. Your mission is to find out if his body has antibodies to the C-Virus."
There was an image of a young man when Simmons spoke about this Jake Muller guy. "That's Muller?" she asked, glancing at Luis. "Yeah, pretty much. Doesn't look much like Wesker, does he?" the Spaniard said with a slight laugh. The two then continued to watch the video.
"We cannot allow a vaccine to be produced," Simmons stated. Images of maps, probably pointing to where Muller was, appeared.
"Agent Birkin will be sent in to acquire the target. Your job is to ensure they escape the country alive," Simmons continued, images of Sherry Birkin appearing. "She surely has grown," Ada commented.
"Good luck," Simmons concluded and the video ended.
"Well?" Luis asked, crossing his arms. "I don't remember those orders. It was dated back six months ago so it can't be right," Ada admitted. "Do you know anything about this?" she then asked.
The look on Luis' face told her that he did know a little more than he was letting on. "Well, I won't let Simmons' fun be ruined. Besides, even with what I know, it won't help much," he admitted.
Before she could press on any further, the sound of the door opening could be heard, followed by approaching footsteps. "We got company," Luis said, taking his gun out.
"We're continuing this later, then," Ada stated before they both began to fire at their unwanted guests.

The two fired at the guards that decided to show up. "Didn't know this was a movie night," Luis stated, causing Ada to let out a small snort. "I would hardly call that a movie," she stated. "Hey, don't be mean. Could've been his first time," he said with a laugh.
When they dealt with the guards, the duo left the room and went to where a new section opened up. "Guess this is where our friends came from," Ada said as the two fired at the ones that stayed behind. "What did you say they're called again?" she then asked. "J'avo, from what I've heard," Luis replied. "You mean to tell me these are the same ones you dealt with back at whatever lab you were in?" she asked, to which he just shrugged in response.
She rolled her eyes a bit, annoyed a little at the answer. But, she supposed she couldn't ask for much more, could she?
A couple of the J'avo had the plaga-like mutations, one having something to replace its head and the other had something big come out from its chest. The two took care of them with little difficulty and went through the vent that was above. They crawled through it, standing up when arriving at the other side.
"Looks like we got some people who want to join our dance," Luis commented as some of the J'avo came out of their hiding spots. Ada hummed. "Guess we'll have to break it to them that we're doing a tango," she said as the two jumped down from where they were. "And we can't just avoid the dance floor, can we?" he asked as he fired at some of them. "Afraid not, Luis. Hope you can handle sharing," she said.
The two went through the J'avo as they advanced to the other side of the room. However, as they got close to their destination, they saw that there was a machine gun on the other end because of course they could operate one.
"These bioweapons are making their little rats more and more smart. Remember how the T-Virus didn't do much to most people?" Ada recalled, firing her crossbow at the approaching J'avo. "Well, besides that one big guy but that was one in a few." Luis laughed as he fired his gun.
"Las Plagas probably started that trend," the Spaniard admitted. "You've seen the weapons they used, right?" She gave a slight snort. He definitely had a point there. Who knew that you could use half the weapons those ganados had while infected with that parasite?
"Then who knows what came after that," Ada muttered as they continued to fire their weapons. There had been so many viruses and parasites and whatnot that she was pretty sure that Luis couldn't even keep track anymore. Or if he did, he sure didn't show it.
They finished off the last of the J'avo and headed to the other end of the hall. There was a door that required a handprint again. "I did it last time," Ada said, backing up for Luis to use his handprint. "Taking turns, are we?" Luis replied as he placed his hand on the scanner. "Can't have you feel left out, can we?" she replied with a slight smirk. He gave her one of his infamous grins that made her heart flutter and her stomach twist.
'Damn you, idiot. We're on the clock and you're still gonna give me that smile.'
The gate that was blocking them from getting to the door opened, letting them through. They walked to the door and opened it, going through the other side.
"All we've found was those orders from six months ago," Ada stated as they headed to the door on the other side of the room. "Maybe he's just trying to manipulate me. I always hate playing other people's games," she stated. "You can say that again," Luis muttered.
"The rescue sub shouldn't be too far from here. I think we've had our fun," she then said as Luis twisted the handle of the door, opening it. "Sounds good to me. Never been a fan of being underwater anyways," he said in response. The two then went to the next room.
They jumped down through a hatch and Ada noticed a type of shotgun on the table. Bit weird but hey, never hurt to have more weapons on you, right? Even if it was a bit weird it was just laying out in the open. But, who knows? Maybe it was a gift from Simmons.
She grabbed it, taking a look at it. "You want this?" she then asked, looking over at her partner. Luis took a closer look at the gun before he took it. "Why not?" the Spaniard replied with a grin. Ada gave an amused hum before they kept moving to the rescue sub.
They ran into a couple of J'avo but they weren't anything the duo couldn't handle. They reached a ladder and climbed up it. Once reaching into a bigger area, Ada gave Luis a warning look.
"Careful where you shoot. One misfire and this will be our last submarine trip," she said. "You think I'm that stupid?" Luis asked in mock offense. However, that look shifted into one of slight realization when he saw the look on her face. "Alright, alright, I'll be careful, amor," he promised. "Good."
They came out from their hiding spot and were met with a rain of bullets from the J'avo that were waiting for them there. The two fired back, moving behind cover when needed. They were also careful on where they shot.
Ada could not say the same for the J'avo.
One particular J'avo that she fired at seemed to either been squeezing the trigger just before she shot her crossbow or didn't wanna go down without taking one of them with him. Either way, the bullets from the J'avo's gun hit something, causing a small explosion and broke a pipe open. Water then began to fill up the ship.
"Think about where you are before you shoot. I mean, really," Ada scolded with an eyeroll. Luis laughed a bit, "Guess we gave them a little too much credit on being smart," the Spaniard stated as he pulled out the hookshot. He grabbed her by her waist and fired the tool, bringing them to the door that was on the platform above.
She headed to the door and twisted the handle opened as an automated voice rang out. "The hull has been compromised. Prepare to evacuate immediately," the automated voice ordered. She got the door opened and the duo rushed into the room.
Before they could get too far, something caused the submarine to shake. This had the two lose their balance for a moment. "We need to hurry," Ada stated. With a nod from Luis, they quickly moved through the room. There was a J'avo that was in the room but Ada managed to take of it.
Luis opened the door to enter the next room, seeing there was fire and water leaking in. "Looks like this place isn't gonna last," the Spaniard said as they jumped over a gap. "No kidding," she said in response.
Luis used the hookshot again, lifting up to somewhere that was above where they were. However, the platform they landed on either was already going to fall or their combined weight was too much because it fell into the ever rising pool of water. They continued running, small explosions going off and the submarine shaking, causing them to lose their balance here and there.
They managed to reach the other side, Ada helping Luis on not falling down and getting trapped. Or worse.
Ada twisted the door's handle before she kicked it open. They both rushed through the door, arriving at a broken down lift. Luis used the hookshot to bring them to the next level.
"Should we-?" Luis began to ask before cutting himself off with a grunt as the submarine shook again. "Should we just ignore the J'avo?" "As much as we can," Ada replied. With a nod from the Spaniard, the two began to quickly get through the area they arrived in.
There were a few J'avo in there but they just managed to avoid them. Once reaching to another area that seemed like could've been a lift, Luis used the hookshot again to lift them up to the area above. As they went up, Ada fired at the J'avo below to make sure they didn't try to shoot them down or something like that.
When they reached the area above, the submarine shook again. The two stumbled, trying their best to regain their footing. Ada held onto Luis' arm to make sure they both stayed stable. "Come on, the sub is just up ahead," she said, keeping a hold of his arm to make sure they both stuck together. And maybe she liked how it felt in her hand but we won't talk about that part yet.
They carefully walked towards the sub as some explosions went off. It was hard to keep their balance since not only did the explosions cause the ship to shake but there were also some things being blasted towards their way. Now, it usually wouldn't be a big deal but with the ship swaying, it was already causing them to lose their footing. Whatever was rolling down the ground beneath their feet was just that icing on top.
One certain explosion caused the submarine to shake badly, causing the duo to fall on all fours. Luis did start to get up but Ada stopped him. "Don't. We might be better off crawling, no matter how embarrassing it'll be," she stated. With a sigh from the Spaniard, the two began to crawl their way to the rescue sub.
Boxes and cans began to come down their way, causing them to move out of the way as best as they could. But, it wasn't too much of a pain since it was easy enough to just move enough to not get hot face first with a box or a can.
Explosions still went off, causing them to pause sometimes to make sure they didn't get hurt from the blast or the flames. But, there was progress being made so Ada wouldn't complain. Even if that progress was being made at a snail's pace.
"We're almost there, Luis. Hope you can hang on a bit longer," she said when they were about a few feet away. "What? You think I'm out of shape or something?" Luis shot back with a laugh. "Have some faith in me, dama." She slightly raised a brow at the Spanish word but she'll question about it later.
However, lady luck was not on their side since when it felt like that maybe they could get out of here and figure out those orders and get answers from Luis, another explosion went off. This time, the boat tilted to where they both slid down the now wall. They landed on a crate that was falling to whatever was below.
"Jump!" Ada exclaimed when seeing an opening. She grabbed Luis' wrist and they both jumped from the crate and to the ground. Luis let out a breath of relief as he held his stomach. She felt some pain in her side but she definitely was not going to show it and have the Spaniard dote on her. Not yet, at least.
"Well, so much for the rescue sub," she said. "Time for plan B." "What's plan B?" Luis asked as he stood up a bit straighter. Ada just took off down the path.
"You'll see!"
"Ada!"

The two went down the small path, reaching a dead end. However, there was something in the area above them. "Only way is up," Luis said. Before either of them could even began to head up, the sub shook, causing them both to lose their balance for a moment.
"We better speed things up," Luis said the sound of water splashing came into earshot. "The torpedo controls should be up ahead, Ada stated as Luis fired the hookshot. "The what controls?" he asked as they were lifted to the area above. Ada chose not to answer.
"I wonder if Simmons is watching us right now," Ada said as the duo climbed up ladders and went through vents while water filled the sub and the vehicle shook now and then.
"Watch your step, Luis. One slip up and we'll be going down with this ship," Ada warned while they climbed up one of the ladders. "Yeah, I figured that one out," Luis replied.
One of the areas they arrived at did have a couple of J'avo waiting for them. However, they decided to just thet the ever rising water take care of them.
When they had climbed as much as they could, Luis used the hookshot to lift them up and through the open hatch. They both then kicked it close. They were both still for a moment to make sure it wasn't going to pop open anytime soon.
"I think we're good to move on," Ada said after a moment. The two kept moving, dropping down through an opening to see a swarm of bugs. "Well, that's a new one," Luis said as the two fired at it.
The swarm quickly moved away, allowing the two to climb up a couple of ladders. The duo then jumped down, landing next to some panel. "Seems like we need to get the power going again," Luis said. The two jumped down and began to head towards where to activate the power when Luis stopped.
"There's a vent. One of us can go see where it leads," Luis said, pointing to the vent he was talking about. "You wanna do it? I have a feeling that panel might need me to activate it," Ada said. "Give me a boost," the Spaniard responded with.
The two headed towards the vent and Ada lifted Luis up. Luis opened it and went through it. "I'll let you know if I need some help," he said. Ada opened her mouth to say something but he had already left to turn the power on. "Don't die," she muttered quietly.
----
A few minutes had passed before she saw the panel turn from red to green. "Should be working. I'll be there as fast as I can," Ada heard Luis say into the earpiece. "Thanks, partner," Ada replied. She didn't have much time to think about what she said when an automated voice came through.
"Initiating verbal identification. Answer all questions into the microphone," a male voice stated. Then, a female voice said, "Identify yourself."
"Alright, I'll bite. Ada Wong," she replied. "Authorization approved," the male automated voice said. "Ada, there's some company coming your way. I'll try to do what I can to keep them off your back but I suggest you to hurry," Luis stated. "Copy that, Luis," she said.
"Ms. Wong," the female voice began, "Six months ago, you performed experiments on humans in Edonia along with your partner, Luis Serra Navarro. You were following Simmons' orders but it was your choice to do so. How do you plan to atone for your crimes?"
Luis seemed to have left out some important details with his recounting of what happened during his six month vacation. Something that she had to talk to him about.
"Interesting story. Might want to do some fact checking, though,' she said in response. "Neither of us wok for Simmons. I have nothing to atone for."
"I know everything about you Ms. Wong. Everything," the voice stated. "I know what it is you're looking for. A world with chaos...am I right?" Ada let out a scoff.
"If you know me so well, you wouldn't need the validation," she said in a bit of a snarky tone. "Besides, a world of chaos? Not on the top of my list at the moment. But I might reconsider since it would make Simmons squirm," she admitted.
"Perfect answer. Now, for the final question. Are you ready?" the female voice asked. "Now, hold on. I believe it's my turn to ask," Ada said in response. "Who are you?"
"I have no obligation to answer you.," the voice said. "Now, my final question. What are you fighting?"
"Whatever the hell gets in my way. And it always seems like a virus makes a cameo," Ada replied. "Perfect answer. Identification complete. Simmons is waiting for you. I can't wait to see how this unfolds," the voice said in response.
"Authorization complete. Releasing locks now," the automated male voice stated. Ada looked up and saw the door above open. Just then, Luis came back through an opening "What happened to the vent?" she asked, seeing his jacket was a bit torn up.
"Like I said, had to deal with some unwanted dance partners," Luis replied as he climbed up to join at her side. The two fired their own hookshots, Luis aiming higher than Ada. When Ada seeing where Luis landed, she used her acrobatic skills to join at his side. Luis chuckled, shaking his head.
"Show off."
"Guilty."
She then felt something vibrate and reached into her pocket, pulling out the communicating device. When she answered, she saw Simmons face.
"Find anything interesting?" the man asked. "A recording from six months ago," Ada replied. "Then the trip was worthwhile," he said, sounding pleased.
Just then, a pipe began to leak out water. Luis began to get to work to get them the hell out of here.
"What's wrong? Still haven't figured it out?" Simmons asked. "Allow me to clarify, then. Tomorrow, the U.S. will suffer a bioterrorist attack. After that, China. And then, major cities all around the world will suffer the same fate at the hands of Neo-Umbrella's very own Ada Wong and Luis Serra Navarro," he explained before hanging up. By then, Luis got the torpedo pod open.
"If you think we're going to be your scapegoats, Simmons, you got another thing coming," Ada stated before the two entered the pod. The door shut and the torpedo began to fire out.
"You've neglected to mention about me being involved in the experiments," Ada said, watching as Luis lit up a cigarette. "Trust me, I wouldn't know where to begin with that one," the Spaniard admitted. "Start talking," she said.
Luis took a drag out of his cigarette. "I don't know how but this Neo-Umbrella cooperation...they managed to make a clone of you," he admitted. "So, that's how you got caught, huh? They used my copycat to trick you," she said. "Bingo. I knew something was off but I was too curious for my own good," he said.
"Well, that's a new problem. Far as anyone would know, we were the masterminds behind this virus," Ada said. "Unless we somehow prove our innocence. Which would be near impossible for me with my...eh, past occupations," Luis said. "Which could almost make it the same for me. Unless we find concrete proof," she said, looking at Luis.
"Tell me everything you know during your time at Neo-Umbrella. No leaving out information this time," she stated, causing him to laugh.
"Such a harsh demand. But if that's what you wish, my dama de rojo," he replied, causing her to raise a brow at the Spanish phrase. However, she decided to ask for a translation after Luis finally explained everything.
"So, who do you want dirt on first?" Luis asked.

Chapter 6: From One Catacomb to Anotger
Summary:
Luis and Ada arrive at Tall Oaks to learn more about Simmons plan
Chapter Text
Two days after the submarine investigation, the two stood on a tower. They arrived at Tall Oaks to get more answers. Rain poured down on them as they looked for where they needed to go.
"Over there. I think that's where the cathedral is," Luis said, pointing forward. "Now, let's get into Simmons' lab," Ada said before the two used their hookshots to get to another area below. The sight they got just showed how serious Simmons was about his plans.
"He actually went through with it," Luis said as they walked along where they landed. "Poor town. This bears investigating," Ada said.
They didn't go too far before they both saw a familiar face kick open a gate, along with an unfamiliar one.
"Guess Sancho got mixed up in this too," Luis said. "Let's hope he has the stomach for what awaits,' Ada said. They both used their hookshots again to bring themselves down to ground level.
They ran down a small path, leading them to a cemetery/ A grave happened to be coincidentally opened up to lead them somewhere. "Are we really going to have to jump down there?" Luis asked. "Don't tell me you're scared after all these years," Ada teased before jumping down, Luis right on her heels.
"Seems like we're in some kind of catacomb system," Luis said as the two followed a path. "Bit suspicious that this was just open up for us, don't you think? I doubt Leon and his new friend gotten far to open this up for us," Ada admitted. "I think you might be reading too much into this. Simmons probably wants us to see this," he pointed out. "I don't think this is Simmons. This doesn't feel like his M.O. Something's off." she admitted.
There wasn't much more for them to discuss since they arrived in a room with a chest. The chest was held shut with a lock that was rusted with time. "Shouldn't be hard to just shoot off," Ada said, aiming her gun at the lock and fired it off. When opening the chest, they discovered a piece of something in it. "Interesting," she said as she picked it up.
When she did, a gate behind them shut, blocking off the way back. "Well, shit," Luis muttered as he backed up. He then let out a shout as he tripped over a body, landing right on his rear. "Woah!" he then exclaimed, firing his gun at the reanimated corpse. "Great, more zombies," Ada said as she fired at the other zombie that was in the room with them.
The door in front of them opened up, letting them through. Ada helped Luis up and the two left the room. Luis fired his hookshot at the hole, grabbing Ada by her waist and letting the device lift them up. They followed the path to a ladder and they climbed up it.
The ladder brought them back to the surface. Across where they were was a door. "Seems like we need some kind of key," Luis said when they moved close enough to the door to see there was something on it that they needed to put in.
"Maybe it has something to do with that piece we found. Let's complete it and see if it fits," Ada said. They both then turned their heads when hearing a door swing open. "That's definitely not creepy," Luis said. "Let's go check it out," she stated. The two then headed to where the door was.
"Another catacomb, huh?" Ada observed as she looked down the hole. "Shall we?" Luis asked. Without a word, she jumped down, the Spaniard following. They followed a path to a door, which Ada opened.
As Luis searched around the area, Ada fired a rusted lock, having a bridge come down. She went over it and opened a chest, taking a key from it. She joined back with Luis, seeing him pull a lever.
"No power connected. Damn," he said as he looked over at Ada. "Got better luck?" "Hopefully," she replied as she headed to the door that matched the chest she got the key from. She slid it into the slot and it opened.
On the other side, there was a chest on a platform. A zombie that was in the room pulled a lever and the chest fell down.
"Well, that's annoying," Ada stated as she fired her crossbow at the zombie. It didn't take long for it to drop dead. The two headed to the lever before looking at each other. "So, who's taking the drop of fate?" Ada asked. "We can rock-paper-scissors?" Luis suggested.
"What are we, five?"
"Do you have a better idea?"
"Yes: you do it," she said, shoving Luis towards the platform. The Spaniard grunted, having to regain his balance. "Easy, easy," he said as he went on the platform. Ada pulled the lever and watched as Luis fell down to whatever was below.
She let go before seeing another door. She went over to it and saw a small slot in it. "Of course it wouldn't be that easy," she muttered. She then heard static in her earpiece before Luis' voice became clear.
"I think I got a power source running. Try that lever and see if it works," he said. Ada left the room and headed to the lever Luis pulled. When she pulled it, the gate opened and revealed some zombies on the other side. "Something tells me I can't just walk in," she said as Luis joined back at her side.
"So, what's the plan?" Luis asked. "Watch your step. It might be a trap," Ada warned. "Right. Still doesn't answer my question on how we'll get there," he said. "Just stay here in case something happens," she said before she jumped over the little gap.
She stayed still for a moment to make sure that nothing would happen. Once confirming that she was good, she quickly made her way to the chest. She ducked her head as she heard Luis fire his gun at the zombies. She watched for a moment to see that the bullets were pushing them back. "No risks, right?" Luis pointed out.
With a slight laugh and a shake of her head, she reached the chest. She pulled out the ring from it, tilting her head. "Well, this might be useful," she muttered, putting it somewhere safe so that way she wouldn't lose it.
She joined back with Luis and the two headed to the door that the chest matched with. She put the ring and it opened. "So, what was in the chest?" she asked as the two went through it. "The second piece to our little emblem," he replied as they arrived at a broken staircase.
Luis fired the hookshot while grabbing Ada's waist. It lifted them up to the other side to where a ladder was. They climbed it up, arriving back at the surface.
"Now where to?" Luis asked as Ada took out a device. "Says here that we need to go this way," she said, pointing to a direction. Using the hookshot, the two arrived at another catacomb. Below was a pit, illuminated by blue flames. They jumped down and headed to a skull that seemed incomplete.
They heard moaning and looked up to see some zombies. Two of them specifically caught their eyes.
One had an eye that matched the skull and the other had a golden tooth that was eerily identical to the ones on the skull. "Wanna play a game, hm?" Luis asked with a laugh. "Ready or not, here we come," Ada said.
"So, who's going after who?" Luis asked. "I'll go after the tooth. You can get the eye," Ada said. The two climbed up their respected ladders to find the missing pieces for the skull.
It was time to play a little bit of hide and seek.
Chapter 7: Searching for Parts
Summary:
Ada and Luis split up to complete the skull and run into a familiar face
Chapter Text
When Ada reached the area she saw the zombie with the golden tooth head towards, she saw it go through a gate. Before she could even run after it, the gate shut. "Dammit," she muttered as the other zombies in the room began to move towards her.
She didn't have too much trouble with taking care of the zombies in the room. When she shot the last one, the gate opened to let her through. She quickly went over to the next area, which was a long hallway. The zombie she was chasing down just entered the next room, having that gate shut. "Oh, you got to be kidding me," she muttered.
She once again dealt with the zombies in the hallway, not having much trouble. However, one did catch her eye. On the chest where it lungs would be was this red-orange tumor-like thing. She fired at it, causing it to rupture. The zombie fell down to its knees before letting out a loud screech, causing Ada to cover her ears. The zombies around it also fell dead.
"Got to be careful around those things," Ada muttered to herself, shaking her head a little to get over what that zombie did. She then looked to see the gate on the other side had opened again. "Least it helped with that," she said as she went through the gate.
She headed down some stairs and entered another hallway with a blue door at the end of it. She also saw that zombie with the tooth she needed. "No more hiding," she said as she began to fire at the zombies. Once again, there was a zombie with that weird tumor-like growth on its chest. She fired at it, this time keeping her distance as it tried to run towards her.
She ruptured the growth and the zombie fell to its knees like the previous one did. Like before, it let out a shriek, causing the zombies around it to drop dead. Luckily, Ada wasn't so close this time so it didn't really affect her. She finished off the rest of the zombies that were still alive, even not having difficulty with the one with the tooth.
She headed over to its body and grabbed the tooth from its mouth, making a face at the feeling.
"Looks like I won this game."
----
Luis had to use his hookshot to reach where the zombie with the eye went to. However, he didn't get to walk far before the floor below him broke, causing him to fall down. He landed with a grunt before hearing something. When he looked over, he saw a blade out of the wall. "Mierda," he muttered before he started to crawl away, hearing the blade beginning to move.
As he crawled, he saw a couple of zombies in his path. "Of course this wouldn't be easy," he muttered, firing his gun at the two zombies. Luckily, they weren't too difficult to take care of. However, as Luis began to reach the other side, a pretty huge zombie then appeared, trying to grab him.
"Christ! What has he been eating?" Luis muttered as he quickly went through the vent path on the left. It did lead him to the other side and he got out, brushing himself off. He then saw the zombie with the eye he needed. "Bingo," he said, pulling his gun out and firing it at the zombie. It didn't take long before it dropped dead.
He went over to the body and grabbed the eyeball. "Gross. Never thought it would feel this squishy," he muttered, feeling disgusted on how the eye felt in his hand. He peaked into the vent, seeing that the big zombie was not coming back. He then looked over to see a door open. "Guess that's how I go back," he muttered.
He went through, going up a small set of stairs and reaching a small crawl space. He went through and looked around, seeing Ada come out of one as well. "Got the tooth?" he asked her. "Got the eye?" she asked back. He gave a laugh as the two jumped down and headed to the skull.
They put the pieces in their respected places and the skull opened its mouth. When it did, the door opened. "You're a twisted man, Simmons. As twisted as they come," Luis heard Ada mutter. "More twisted than Wesker?" he asked, more as a joke. "Wesker was his own level of twisted," she stated.
The two went through, reaching a chest. Ada opened it to reveal another piece of the emblem. "I think that's all of them," she said as she grabbed the piece. "One way to find out," Luis said, pulling out the hookshot. He grabbed her waist and fired at the railing, bringing them up to the top. There was a ladder which they climbed that brought them back to the surface.
They headed back to the door and placed the pieces where they needed to go. Once the emblem was put in place, the door slid open. They jumped into a new set of catacombs and headed over to a set of doors. When they went through, they heard someone yell out.
"Deborah! Just hold on, we're almost there..." a woman called out. The two shared a look before they went closer to the source to see what was going on.
"Deborah, just stay with me, alright?" the woman said. The two were close enough to see Leon and the woman he was with, standing in front of another woman. "Deborah," the woman muttered. The other woman, who Luis assumed to be named Deborah, burst into flames.
Luis cocked his gun as he heard the woman call out to Deborah. He aimed it at the cocoon that was previously Deborah, something coming out of it. When he fired his gun, Ada fired her crossbow. Once they hit whatever Deborah was going to become, they jumped down to meet with the two.
Leon had his gun aimed at them but lowered it when recognizing them. "Ada! Luis!" he said in surprise. Ada gave an amused chuckle as Luis had an amused look.
"You look like you've seen a ghost," Ada commented. "I didn't think ghosts would spook you that bad, Sancho. Something tells me you found something quite shocking," Luis added. Before anyone could say anything else, the woman Leon was with aimed her gun at them.
There was a tense silence on what would happen next. Leon then put his hand on her gun before looking at her. She lowered her gun and let out a sob, falling to her knees. "Ada, Luis, what the hell is going on?' Leon demanded. "It's a bit complicated right now, Sancho," Luis admitted.
Before any elaboration could be made, the catacombs began to shake. "But this isn't the time or the place," Ada stated. "We need to head to the lower levels. These walkways won't hold us much longer," she stated.
Luis watched as the woman Leon was with brought the body of Deborah into her arms. "Deborah, I'm so sorry! This is all my fault!" she cried out. "Helena, get away from her!" Leon exclaimed. "I would listen to him, señorita. Whoever she was is long gone," Luis said. When he turned to look over, he let out a noise.
Out of Deborah's back came out four spider-like appendages. Helena moved in front of her, her arms held out. "Stop! Don't shoot please!" she pleaded before Deborah pushed her away.
"Oh, that's what you meant," Luis said as he began to fire his gun. "Yeah, that's what I meant," Leon replied, firing his gun as well.
It didn't take too much before Deborah had enough of the gunfire. She swung one of the spider legs into the pillar, causing it to break. No one had time to react before the pillar pieces broke the ground below them. Luis tried to catch himself but he was just a little too short and fell down.
Down.
Down.
Chapter 8: Fighting a Spider Lady
Summary:
Ada and Luis help Leon and Helena with Deborah
Chapter Text
Luis groaned as his back hit the wooden platform. "Mierda, that's gonna leave a mark," he muttered before standing up. He looked around and took note of two things.
The first thing he noticed was that Ada and Leon were on the completely other side of where he was. Whether or not that was Deborah's intention was left unknown.
The second thing was that he was with Leon's partner. And she was already running off.
"Deborah! Where are you?" she called out. He sighed as he quickly followed her, using the hookshot to make any descents down a bit easier on him. The two didn't have to deal with too many zombies as they reached a lever.
Helena was about to pull it but Luis held up a hand to stop her. "Hang on a second. Let Ada and Leon catch up," he said. "Fine," she said, gripping onto the handle but not moving it.
Luis aimed his gun at the opening above, just in case anything wanted to come down and say hi. Luckily, Leon and Ada seemed to be able to handle the ones up top.
When Luis saw the two in front of a crate, he gave a nod to Helena. She pulled the lever, which moved the crate from their path. He pulled out his hookshot, looking over at Helena.
"You get motion sick?"
Helena gave him a look before shaking her head.
"No?"
"Good." Luis grabbed her by the waist and fired the hookshot. As Ada and Leon swung from a rope, he jumped off the ledge to meet them on the other side. However, it seemed like Deborah had other plans and slammed into al four of them.
Luis groaned when he landed on the wooden platform. "Shit," he muttered, feeling more pain down his back. He had shut his eyes for a moment, opening them again to see Ada with her hand held out.
As he took her hand, Leon warned them, "Watch out, you three. She's strong." "Watch out for yourself," Ada stated, pulling Luis up.
"You alright?' she then asked, checking him over for any injuries. He gave a soft laugh, saying, "I didn't break my spine." "Good," she said.
The two then aimed her weapons at where Deborah was before they began to fire at her. With the help of Leon, it didn't take long for her to fall to the ground. The two jumped down from where they were to help Leon and Helena.
"Deborah!" Helena cried out, cradling the other woman in her arms. Deborah growled before pushing her away. She then jumped up to the top to probably get some distance.
"You should put her down if you have any sympathy for her," Ada told Helena. "This is a nightmare...it can't be real!" Helena stated. However, Luis seemed to be questioning something completely out of pocket.
"Okay, but why is she naked?" he asked as he began to fire his gun at some of the zombies that wanted to join in. "What do you exactly mean?" Leon asked, firing his gun as well.
"Well, okay, think about it. I get she came out from a pod and I'm sure the acid in it burnt off her clothes," Luis began. "Right, that makes sense. Where exactly are you going with this?" Leon questioned.
"Her mutation is based off of a spider, right?"
"Yeah...your point?"
"Why can't she either, I don't know, make herself a web outfit or have some kind of shell over her body? I don't want the last thing I see be spider boobs."
"You know...I see your point, actually. I can't even imagine how uncomfortable moving around naked like that must be."
"Are you two done with your boy talk?" Ada asked with a bit of a scolding tone. "Keep your dicks in your pants."
"First off, I have my standards, Ada. You know that," Luis began, "Second off, I'm just wondering why I have to see a naked spider lady."
"You can ask the people who made the naked spider lady if you get the chance about that."
"Are you jealous?"
"Luis, shut up."
"Shutting up."
Deborah jumped down to the ground, releasing one of the legs. The leg had this orange bubble on it, which screamed to Luis to be a weak point.
"Hey, aim for the spider legs. That might be her weak point," he called out, firing his gun at the leg. Ada and Leon immediately did so but Helena was hesitant. Luis didn't fully understand why but he wasn't about to pry.
The three of them focused on Deborah's legs while Helena dealt with the zombies that came down as well. Deborah did try to jump back up but when there's someone who's constantly shooting at her, it made it difficult. Even when Deborah try to pounce on one of them, the bullets being blasted into her made her quickly step back.
They were quick with getting rid of the orange bubbles on her legs due to the fact that they kept her on the same level they were on. Of course, Deborah had other plans.
Just like before, she broke the floor below the four of them. This time around, she just used her legs instead of using something like a pillar. Mostly because there wasn't anything she could break that would cause the same amount of damage.
So once again, Luis landed on his back with a groan. "I really need to learn to not land there," he muttered to himself. He then saw a hand outstretched towards him. "Don't tell me you fucked your back up again," he heard Leon say, causing him to laugh.
"Not this time, Sancho," Luis promised, taking his hand and letting him be pulled up. "Come on, let's get moving," Leon said before the two began to descend down. Luis noticed the girls descending down on a minecart.
"Ada, Helena! Mind giving us a hand?" Leon called out as zombies began to head their way. "As things change, things stay the same," Ada said in response. Leon seemed to choose to ignore that since he dealt with some of the zombies in their path.
"So, you've been running around with Ada for the last four years, huh?" Leon asked as they went down, being careful as the catacombs began to shake. "Why is that? I thought you said you were done playing people's games?"
"I am. Before, I was simply a pawn of a bigger chessboard. I wasn't her partner. Now, we actually have established that," Luis explained. He would like to think that Ada wasn't keeping anything from him that she didn't have to.
"I hope you're right."
The two soon reached where the minecart stopped. They reached a crank and Luis was the one that decided to turn it. The crank moved the cart to where the two boys could jump to it with little difficulty.
Once they were on the cart, it began to move. "All aboard!" Leon called out as they went into the tunnel.
Luis leaned against one side of the cart, reloading his gun. "Let's hope this is a non-stop ride outta here," Leon said. "I wouldn't count on it," Ada said.
"Doesn't this bring back memories, Leon?" Luis asked with a laugh. "I just hope we don't have to deal with chainsaw-wielding zombies," Leon replied. Helena looked at them in confusion. "Chainsaw-wielding?" The two men looked at each other before at her.
"Don't ask."
The ride seemed peaceful for the most part. Sure, they had to duck under some things but overall, it seemed pretty relaxed. Until they heard a very familiar screech.
"The naked spider lady is back?!" Luis exclaimed. "Her name is Deborah," Helena scolded. Luis was going to continue to see her as the naked spider lady though since that was far funnier to him than simply Deborah.
"Just stop it, Deborah! This isn't you!" Helena shouted, causing Luis to sigh. This whole thing was getting old already.
He understood where Helena was coming from. He had people he knew be infected by bioweapons. He knew it hurt to see them like this. However, he also knew that people like Deborah can't be saved when they reached to this point.
Not like he would say that out loud, of course.
Deborah jumped down in front of the cart, causing it to hit her. "Deborah!" Helena exclaimed as the spider lady got on top of the edge.
"Don't tell me you're still crying? She's trying to trick you!" Ada stated. "Don't you think I know that?" Helena asked. "You better start acting like it then," Luis stated.
Once again, the weak points that needed focus was her spider legs. Of course this time, they couldn't stop her from trying to swipe at them or stab them with her spider legs. It was also hard to really move with four people in a cart. It kind of made everything cramped.
However, they managed to get Deborah off of the cart and to wherever the hell she decided to crawl towards. Luis let out a sigh, leaning against the cart. "I still hate bugs," he muttered.
He let out a yelp when hearing something explode. He looked over to see that most likely there was some kind of explosive barrel that needed to be taken out of the way. "Christ," he muttered.
The ride was once again relaxed for a moment. Until Deborah came back again onto the cart.
"Oh, you gotta be kidding me. Does she just refuse to die?" Luis muttered. "Guess so," Ada said as they once again began to fire at the legs.
However, before they could shoot her down, the minecart crashed into a wall. It fell down, moving to where all four fell out. Luis landed with Leon and Ada, grunting as he landed on his side. "Mierda," he muttered as he pushed himself up. His eyes widened when seeing Ada dangling off of a board.
He quickly ran over to her and grabbed her hand. He pulled her up before looking over to see Helena with Deborah, the latter having something out of her mouth. Leon had his gun aimed and fired at the orange bubble on it.
"Gross," Luis muttered, watching as Deborah moved in pain. The thing that came out of her mouth went back in and she slid off of the platform.
"Helena!" Leon called out as she grabbed Deborah before she fell. She seemed to be talking to her about something before she let go, the screams of Deborah echoing around the catacombs.
The three of them joined Helena, Leon helping Helena up. "Mind explaining what's going on?" he asked her. Luis made a face but stayed silent as Helena began to speak.
To summarize, her and Deborah, her sister, were captured by The Family, an organization Simmons ran. Under the belief she was saving her sister, she agreed to be apart of Simmons' plan to take out the US president. Obviously, not everything turned out in her favor.
Hearing the story did make Luis feel a little bad about some of the comments made. Just a little bit, though.
"I didn't know what else to do. So, I helped him," Helena said, turning to face the three of them. "I helped Simmons breach the president's security," she stated, putting a hand on her chest. Leon seemed to be taking a moment to process everything.
"That sounds like Simmons alright," Ada admitted, putting a hand on her hip. "Why the hell would he do all this?" Leon asked, looking between Ada and Luis.
"Long story," Ada simply replied. When Leon looked at Luis, the Spaniard only shrugged. He then watched as Ada pulled out that device she's been carrying around since they met up again since it was ringing. However, she decided to ignore it for now.
"We're up against the people who really run this country in a very dangerous game. And if you don't play your hand right..." Ada trailed off. She tossed Luis a hookshot before she ran and fired her own.
Leon and Helena looked at Luis, who once again shrugged before firing his own to meet up with her. When he landed next to her, she answered the call. Of course, it was Simmons.
"How are you two feeling?"
"Why don't you come down here and we'll show you?"
Simmons laughed at the response. "I think I'll pass. There is something I want to show you two, however."
The two stopped walking and Ada put her hand on her hip. "More geese to chase?" Luis asked, already unamused with all the running around they've been doing. "Not quite. Just something I think you would benefit from knowing," Simmons replied. "Proceed to the research lab."
Ada hung up, putting the device away. "I don't like this," she stated. "What other choice do we have?" Luis pointed out, crossing his arms. "It still doesn't sit right with me," she stated.
"Before we go, I do have to ask," Luis began, grabbing her by the chin. A smug smirk was on his face as he asked, "Were you really jealous of me talking about another woman?" "Luis, this is-" Ada began but he cut her off.
"Just a simple question," he simply said. "No strings attached. Well, maybe a couple but none that are important."
Ada refused to make eye contact as she said, "No comment." Luis chuckled, knowing he got his answer from the way her cheeks went a bit pink.
"If it makes you feel better, your boobs are the only ones I wouldn't mind seeing before I die," he said. She turned her head to scold him but he just gave her a forehead kiss with a very audible 'mwah'. He then walked off to where they needed to go, turning his head to see her completely embarrassed.
"Well, come on. Clock is ticking," he said. That made her catch up with him as he let out a laugh.
He still had his tricks.
Chapter 9: A Race Begins
Summary:
Ada and Luis find out how the Ada he ran into six months ago was made
Chapter Text
Ada followed Luis down the tunnel and into the elevator. When they were both inside, she pressed the button to make it move.
"So, what do you think we'll find?" Luis asked, having Ada turn her head over. "Answers," she replied.
"Well, yeah. But, what kind?"
"Any kind is good at this point."
The elevator's doors opened, letting the two walk out. Ada opened a door, revealing a room with a lot of cages.
"Just what the hell were they doing here?" she muttered. "Want an actual guess?" Luis asked. "Hit me," she replied as the two crawled through a small space to reach the other side of the cage.
"Lots of experiments. If my hunch is right, they aren't ones that will be too friendly to anyone," he admitted. "Well, I'm sure that will be fun," she said sarcastically as they reached a door.
"Locked?" Luis guessed.
Ada tried to open it, only to see that it was indeed locked.
"Locked," she confirmed.
The two looked down when the ground began to vibrate. "What was that?" she asked, looking around before seeing a giant zombie-like creature in one of the cages. She could hear Luis audibly shudder.
"Saw one of those things when getting that eye. Either that's the same one or his brother," the Spaniard said. "And he probably has the key we need," she added in an annoyed tone. "Well, come on," she then said.
The two headed to the cage that the zombie was at, sliding under the gab to get inside.
"Grab and go?" Luis asked. "Grab and go," Ada replied.
The two managed to get around the giant zombie and grab the key they needed for the door. However, when they tried to go back, the gap was blocked off by another giant zombie trying to crawl in.
"Mierda, they're persistent bastards," Luis said. "Guess grab and go isn't an option after all," Ada said. They both then pulled out their guns before firing at the two zombies.
One of them whacked Ada into one of the sides of the cage, causing her to groan in pain from the impact. The blow did cause it to fall so that was something, at least.
She got up with a grunt as Luis came to her side. "You alright," he asked as he helped her up to her feet. "Yeah. Didn't know they packed a punch," she admitted. "Should we just make a run to the door?" the Spaniard asked.
Ada looked behind them to see the two giant zombies charging right towards them. "Let's see if we can outrun them," she said, looking back at Luis. With a nod from the Spaniard, the two made a run towards the door.
When they reached it, Ada pulled out the key and unlocked it. They went through it and Luis used the hookshot to lift them up to the area above. They then looked down to see the two giant zombies trying and failing to get them.
Ada smiled a bit at the sight while Luis laughed. After she did a motion, the two walked along the path. It didn't take long for something to bust down the wall and charge right for them.
They both quickly moved out of the way before firing at it. It didn't take long for it to drop dead. However, when it did, it revealed another one of those giant zombies. "These things just don't let up," Ada said as they began to fire at it.
The zombie eventually dropped down, allowing the two to continue following the path. It didn't take long for one of the creatures with a hard shell to come busting down a wall and towards the duo again. However, like before, they both moved out of the way and killed it with ease.
They reached a hole in the floor and they both jumped down, landing in a sewer. They went under a gap in the gate and Luis fired the hookshot to bring them to the area above. Ada saw a screen with a lever next to it. Taking a closer look, she noticed something a little strange.
"Seems like someone just used this," she said. "I'm willing to bet it was Leon and Helena," Luis admitted. "That would make sense," she admitted before the two went into the next room to see bodies covered in something.
"This is what this virus can do?" Ada asked. "I would suggest not touching it. I don't know if it can spread like that but I'm not willing do find out," Luis said. With a nod from her, the two continued towards a door. Only for it to shut on them, along with a siren and a flashing light to go off.
"Aberration detected," a female automated voice said. "All laboratories will remain locked until safety has been verified."
Creatures began to come out of the bodies that were around the entire place. "Guess it's time to do some house cleaning," Ada said. "We better get a raise for doing a maid's job," Luis said. The two then began to take care of the creatures.
They were of course the ones with the hard shells. Luckily, there wasn't many of them. Just very annoying to deal with. When they took care of the last one, the alarm went quiet and the red light turned off. The door then opened.
"Finally," Ada said before the two went through the door, arriving at a room with a TV. The TV was showing static and as the two went closer, Ada saw a tape in a player. She pulled it out to read what it said.
"Happy birthday Ada Wong?" Luis read in confusion. "It's your birthday?" he then asked. She didn't respond and put the tape in to let it play.
The static was then replaced with a close up of a cocoon, similar to the one that Deborah came out of when she mutated. Many things flashed that was too quick for either of them to catch fully. It then showed the cocoon again, this time something coming out.
When it broke open, it revealed...Ada. The Ada in the video was of course naked and covered in something from the cocoon. The body plopped down to the ground before she opened her eyes, staring at the camera.
"Hmph. Looks just like me. No wonder Leon is confused," she said. "So, that's how they made Ada 2.0," Luis said. Before either of them could say anything else, they heard a ringing noise.
"Go search the lab. I'll take this," she said to Luis. The Spaniard nodded and walked off. She took out of the device to answer the call, making it shift into a cube. Once again, it showed Simmons' face.
"Enjoy the show?" he asked. "Yes. It was quite...revealing," she replied. "How do you mean?" Simmons asked.
"Well, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it you on this tape, "Ada"?" she asked as she began to walk around, being sure to stay out of Luis' way while he searched around. "You're the one behind Neo-Umbrella," she stated.
"I...don't know what you're talking about," "Simmons" said. "Simmons would never be foolish enough to show his cards," Ada stated, "He and his Family want one thing- to stabilize and sustain the system they've created. But you...you want to destroy it."
"And the world will blame you," her doppelganger stated before hanging up. Ada stared at the cube before putting it away. "So, we've been following a trail left by your clone?" Luis asked. "If she wants a game, she'll get one," Ada stated as she headed to the TV. "With the real Ada Wong," she added as she set a timer for a bomb before placing it down.
She began to walk off, taking the device out again. She typed in something to call someone.
"Who is this?' a man's voice asked.
"An old friend, Simmons. Ada Wong," she replied.
"Ada?!" Simmons asked, sounding surprised. "Let's ditch the pleasantries and get right into it," Ada stated, "That little doppelganger you brewed up just told me she has her heart set on destroying the world." Before Simmons could really ask anything, she hung up.
"So, what now?" Luis asked. "We're getting the hell out of here before we get blown with it. Then, we head to China," Ada stated. "Looks like we have a race," Luis stated. "Let's see who comes out first," Ada added.
The two walked off as the bomb counted down. By the time it went off, they had already left the area.
Chapter 10: Meeting Old and New Faces
Summary:
Ada and Luis arrive in China to find her doppelganger
Chapter Text
It was the night after they went to Tall Oaks. The two were now in Waiyip, China, having the high ground of two BSAA members, one who Luis was familiar with.
"HQ, this is Alpha leader. I need a location on Ada Wong," they both heard the leader, who was known as Chris Redfield, say. "This is HQ. We got the location for you. Ada Wong has left the city and is heading south for the harbor," a man replied. As the two agents left, Luis and Ada fired their hookshots to get down.
"Repeat. Ada Wong is heading south for the harbor," the man said before ending communication. "They're throwing a party for me and I'm not even there yet," Ada said. "Guess we better get to it before we're late," Luis said before the two began to run through the city.
As they did, they ran into the J'avo that were running around in the streets.
"I'm guessing these are what we ran into in the sub?" she asked. "Bingo," Luis replied before they began to fire their guns at them.
It wasn't too difficult for them to deal with them, which lead to small talk. But it was something Ada did not expect Luis to bring up.
"We're actually partners this time, right? These last four years weren't some elaborate plot to use me, were they?" he asked and the way he sounded made her chest go tight.
If he had asked her that years ago, she probably would've given a vague answer. Probably would've been thinking that she was using him. However, she knew that would be a lie. Then and now.
"We're partners, Luis. Anything I've hidden from you was because I had to," she promised.
"Are we really just partners?"
Ada was silent for a moment.
"Why do you ask?"
Luis sighed. "Don't try to play dumb with me, Ada. You know as well as I that we teeter totter the fence," he stated. "We'll talk about that later," she said.
The two kept going through the streets, passing by cocoons as they opened up to reveal hideous creatures. They went over some vehicles with their hookshots, landing on the other side to see a cocoon open. She tilted her head as she saw something come out.
What came out was a chainsaw before slicing it open to have the rest of the creature come out.
"Chainsaws. How elegant," Ada said as the two used their hookshots to gain higher ground. They ran along the structures as the creature swung its chainsaw around, destroying structures left and right.
When they ran out of places to run, they used the hookshots to head into an alleyway, landing in front of a door. Before the creature could chop them up, Ada put a bar in front of the gate to keep it locked.
"There, that should hold him," she said before they kept moving to the harbor.
They ran into people who were infected with the virus, having Ada sigh. "Look at what has become of this world," she muttered as the two fired at the zombies.
One of the bodies had a key. Luis picked it up and went to use it on the door before Ada heard something. Something that was very close to a chainsaw.
"Luis!" she warned once the creature with the chainsaw came out. He quickly moved out of the way, looking at his hand. Ada noticed that the key Luis tried to use was now on the chainsaw.
"That wasn't very nice. You shouldn't take things that don't belong to you," she said before the two fired at the creature.
There were also zombies crawling around, which Luis dealt with while Ada dealt with the chainsaw bioweapon. Eventually, the creature fell and she was able to retrieve the key. Her and Luis made eye contact, which she just pointed her head towards the door. The two headed over to it and she unlocked it.
The two used the hookshot to get on top of some buildings, running along the edge. They then got on top of a bus to get a free ride. Apparently, the creature had the same idea. "This thing just won't die," Ada said. "Reminds me of a lot of things," Luis admitted.
"We didn't come halfway across the planet to play games," she stated. The two swung from side to side to avoid attacks of the chainsaw and hanging signs. The creature wasn't so lucky.
After a bit, the two went up to some tracks. Luis hung out by the edge while Ada landed in the tracks. The creature headed down with her, causing her to sigh.
"Alright, fine. I guess I could spare a few more minutes with you," she said. "I'll help from above," Luis said. They both then began to fire at the creature.
After a bit, a train was coming her way. She fired her hookshot and managed to get out of the way. The creature jumped up to try and slice her while in the air but she kicked it down. "Switch!" she called out before she went above the tracks. Luis jumped down to deal with the creature face to face.
As they fired their guns at it, she heard Chris begin to speak.
"Alpha to HQ! We got a visual on Ada Wong! We're in pursuit!" he said. "This is HQ. Ada Wong has been spotted in the canal. Charlie and Delta Teams, form a perimeter around Koocheng. Repeat: Ada Wong has been spotted in the canal," the man that represented HQ said.
"Guess I'm heading to the canal," she said. She watched as Luis pushed the creature into the tracks before grappling over a passing train. The train hit the creature, sending it flying to somewhere she wasn't too interested in knowing. She saw Luis land on the train before he pointed his head. With a nod, she grappled over and the two got in through the window.
They sat down at the seats and Luis let out a breath of relief. "Whew. That got me beat," he said with a laugh. "Thought you would be used to this by now," Ada teased him, which had the Spaniard let out a laugh.
The two leaned back before Ada laid her head on his shoulder. No words were said as he wrapped an arm around her.
A few minutes later, Ada looked out the window. "We're almost there," she said before the two stood up. "Can't wait to meet this doppelganger of mine." The two used the hookshots to go through a small opening, which brought them on top of the train.
As they walked along, they saw a plane fly over before crashing in the distance. It exploded soon after. "Wow...someone really wants this world to burn," she said as they kept walking.
When at the spot they wanted to be at, they grappled at a sign and used the hookshots to bring themselves on a roof. Ada opened the door to reveal a flight of stairs going up and some going down. They went to the set that went up and entered a room that was of uninterested. They then went through another door to arrive at another roof as Ada took out a rifle.
She looked through the scope to see two faces. Sherry Birkin and Jake Muller.
"Sherry Birkin...and he must be the host of the C-virus antibody," she said. Luis took a look through the scope to see what she was talking about. "Indeed he is," he said, stepping back. She looked through the scope again to see them run off. When she moved the sights, she saw the chainsaw bioweapon.
"Looks like they're not alone," she said before firing the gun, shooting it right at the head. She watched Jake and Sherry get on some kind of raft before the creature appeared again. "Looks like the rookies could use some help," she said as she watch Luis pull out his own gun.
"I suppose we should return the kindness their parents showed us," Luis said as they both moved to catch up to Sherry and Jake. "Now's a good time to do that." "I'm gonna guess you mean that in a very loose way," Ada admitted. "What gave it away?" he asked with a grin.
When the two reached the area that would be best to help the two down below, they began to fire their guns at the infected. It didn't take long before they saw the one with the chainsaw again.
"Why is it that nothing can stay dead anymore?" Ada complained as they kept firing their guns. "Just the world we live in, Ada. Every other thing seems to want to just spite us," Luis pointed out. "It's sure annoying," she said.
After a bit of them shooting, Ada watched as the one with the chainsaw hit a sign before falling into the water. The sign soon fell down with it. "That better be the last time we deal with him," she said as the two moved to follow the raft Jake and Sherry got on.
They reached on top of a crane after going over a roof and some structures. "Wesker Junior...must be hard for him to work with the good guys," she said as Luis sat down on the edge.
The two watch as Sherry and Jake moved the boat along the water. But, of course nothing could stay dead since she saw something else in the water. "Looks like someone wants more," she said, watching as whatever was down there cut off part of a crane to have it fall over into the ocean.
Luis sighed as he stood up. "This is getting old," he said as the creature came out to fight Sherry and Jake. Ada aimed her rifle and fired at the creature while it tried to fight the other two.
After a bit, she noticed Luis aiming his gun at the pipes the crane they were on held. "I think we should end this game of cat and mouse," he said before he fired it, having it drop on the creature.
The two let out a sigh before they kept moving. "They would be in hot water if it wasn't for us," Ada stated. "I feel like we're getting too old to save their asses," Luis said with a laugh.
Ada sighed when she saw the creature come out again and move the raft before Sherry got off. "Speak of the devil," she said. "Poor little Sherry...always chased by monsters," she said. "You wanna do it?" Luis asked. "You worked with her parents," she pointed out. With a shrug from the Spaniard, he used the hookshot to swing himself over to Sherry and grab her. He brought her back to Jake before joining Ada's side again.
"If that doesn't kill it, I don't know what will," she said, motioning towards the creature getting grinded by the helicopter blades. The communicator then activated and a voice began to speak.
"This is Piers Nivans. Ada Wong is moving south towards the military port! Advising all personal to be on alert!" a man by the name of Piers said. The two headed over to see a red car being followed by a BSAA truck operated by Chris and who they assumed to be Piers.
"It's like a Raccoon City reunion," Ada stated as they both began to walk off. She looked down to see Sherry and Jake still there.
"We'll catch you two later," Luis said before the two began to make their journey to the military port.

Ada and Luis find all the pieces about why her doppelganger did what she did

Chapter Text
The two ran across the building structures, using the hookshot a couple of times to get across. When they were above the dock, Ada say something that caught her eye.
A jet ski.
"Now that's a way to travel," she said as the two jumped down. They headed to the jet ski and Luis got on first. Ada got on behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist. It felt nice having them there. It felt natural.
"Hope you like thrill rides," Luis said with a grin before the ski sped off to where this port was.
----
The ride was silent between the two. Something Ada was grateful for since that gave her time to think about her relationship with Luis. He was right that they were on the fence of being partners and being more than just that. Maybe they were always like that and just never brought it up until now.
Ada looked up when Luis stopped at an aircraft carrier. "Think this is it," he said, grabbing her by the waist. He fired the hookshot, lifting them up to an opening where they could get inside.
"I wish she could stop running. We have so much to talk about," Ada admitted as Luis took out a J'avo that was right there. "Do you really think she will stop, though?" Luis pointed out. "Not a chance," Ada replied as the two ran through the ship, taking care of any J'avo on the way.
They reached a door that did not require one but three passcodes. "Three separate codes?" Ada asked as she took the cube out, typing in some things. "Can't get through without them," she then said. "We each get one and work together for the last one?" Luis suggested. "No. Something tells me we'll get all of them in the same path," she admitted. With a shrug from the Spaniard, the two headed down a path where a door was.
Ada opened the door and the two went down a flight of stairs. She aimed her crossbow at a J'avo, putting a bolt into it. Before she fired it, she heard Luis shout.
"¿¡Qué carajo es eso!?"
She didn't know what the phrase meant but she did hear the panic in his tone. When she turned around, her eyes widened at what exactly freaked Luis out.
There was a creature coming down the stairs, letting out noises that were similar to either a pig or a baby. "What are you waiting for?! Shoot it!" Ada demanded. Luis aimed his gun at the creature, firing bullet after bullet into it. It was split in half by the bullets but the thing didn't die, causing Luis to whimper.
"I say we run and just get the damn codes," Luis stated. Ada simply nodded before the two made a run for it down the halls of the ship. They ran past any J'avo and those creatures that they could. They eventually entered a room that looked to be a small laboratory. Inside was a J'avo, which was quickly taken care of.
When the J'avo fell, something came out from one of its pockets. Luis grabbed it and held it out to Ada. "Think this is what we need?" he asked. She took the cube out and scanned it before giving a nod. "Seems like it," she said.
One of those unknown creatures then came out of the vent in the room, making Luis jump and drop the code. Something came out of its head and it grabbed the code with it. It then went back through the vent.
"Do we need to go after it?" Luis asked nervously. "Well, it would be rude not to in case someone else needs it," Ada pointed out. The Spaniard shuddered but left with her to track down the creature, which wasn't hard to do.
Ada pulled out her machine pistol and after firing over half of the bullets loaded into it, the creature turned white and squirmed around while screeching out. "I guess it's dead," she said, looking over to see Luis shuddering in disgust. "Let's just keep going," he said.
They didn't make it very far before two pipes burst, causing the two to be trapped by fire. One of those creatures then dropped down in between them. Luis jumped over it and Ada kicked it into the fire, watching the flames easily kill the creature.
"Well, that seems to do the trick," Luis said before the two turned around to see another one of those creatures. Ada watched as the Spaniard shoved the creature into the flames with his shoulder, letting out a grunt. "Guess fire does kill them," she said as the sprinklers turned on to put out the flames. "Come on, let's get the two other codes," she said before the two continued to move.
The other two codes weren't too hard to get. A J'avo had one, which wasn't hard to kill. The other code had already been dropped by the one Ada killed earlier when they first ran into those unknown creatures.
"Almost too easy," Ada commented as they headed to the door. She used the cube to put the code in, which had the door open. The two went through it, ignoring whatever was at the other side. Luis took out the hookshot and fired it, sending them to the platform above. A voice then echoed around.
"Can you feel it spreading through your body yet?" the voice of Ada's doppelganger asked. "I'm just giving you exactly what you gave me, Simmons."
"Ah, there's my evil twin," Ada said as they approached an elevator. "Seems like your twin has gone rouge on even Simmons," Luis muttered.
"At first, you'll be afraid. But don't worry. You're just becoming the monster you were. You and everyone else on the planet," the fake Ada stated, "You and your Family may have shaped the world into what it is today, but starting tomorrow...it's all going to change."
"What the hell did Simmons do to you?" Ada questioned. "Guess there's only one way to find out," Luis said before the two entered the elevator.
----
The ride was quiet, both of them thinking about the information that was spewed at them. When the doors opened, they went through to see they were at a different part of the ship.
"Wonder when I'll meet this doppelganger of mine," Ada said as Luis fired the hookshot, bringing them to the are above. As Ada began to open the door, the elevator on the other side could be heard. When she looked over, she saw Chris and his partner in it.
"Ada, stop!" Chris demanded as she opened the door. The two rushed in and Luis slammed the door. They saw the door on the other side began to shut.
"Seems like they want to bark up the wrong trees," she said as the two slid under the door before it closed. "Not like we have time to explain to them," Luis pointed out.
The two began to run in order to lose the two BSAA agents. Ada raised a hand when seeing a lot of J'avo in a room. "I want to avoid those guys. Let's find another way," she said.
The two took a different path that led them outside. Spotlights were around and something told Ada that they didn't want them pointed at her or Luis. "I know it'll be hard for you but we gotta stay out of the spotlight," she teased him, causing him to chuckle.
The two stuck to the shadows, making sure that they hid if a spotlight did get on them. They soon reached a vent, which they crawled through. The vent allowed them to see what was in the room below, which was the room that Ada wanted to avoid. Chris and his partner came in, firing at the J'avo.
"Thanks for keeping them busy, fellas. We'll see you around," she said as the two continued to crawl through the vents.
They heard the sounds of gun firing and the sound of either the BSAA agents or J'avo getting hurt. They eventually reached an opening where they jumped down. They ran up some stairs and through halls and rooms, making sure to stay ahead of the two agents.
They arrived at what seemed to be a control room. There was a door at the other end of it that opened with a button push. They went through it and jumped out of a window. They went down a hatch, seeing more spotlights.
"Guess they really want to make sure we can't just sneak around," Luis said before the two used some cover and the shadows to ensure that they didn't get spotted.
They reached the end and used the hookshot to bring them to the area above. They kept low as they kept moving, seeing a ladder with a J'avo next to it. Ada used her crossbow, killing it.
The two headed to the ladder and climbed up it. They soon reached another vent they had to crawl through, this time invested with bugs.
"Like cockroaches," Ada said as she fired at them.
There was only two so it didn't take up too much time. The two crawled through the vent, jumping down from the opening when they reached it. They went through a hallway and up some stairs before entering a room with a briefcase on the desk.
The two headed over to it and Ada examined how it could be opened. She placed her thumb over the scanner, which did unlock it to reveal a couple of things. Two files and a recorder.
Luis turned it on, the two taken off guard when hearing Simmons speak. The two listened as they went through the files.
"No, that's not good enough! That's not Ada Wong!"
"Why won't it work!?"
"Combine the DNA-sequence with the cocoon's bio-structure."
"Find another subject!"
"Use Carla for the next pass, she's a close match. Be careful what you say around her, I don't want her catching on."
"Yes, yes! This is it! She may have left me but now I have her back!"
"Happy birthday, Ada Wong!"
The recording ended, which gave the two all the pieces they needed.
"Now I get it," Ada said as they looked at the photos of Simmons and who they assumed to be Carla. She picked up a statue of the Quad Tower but didn't have much time to think what it meant. The sound of a helicopter could be heard before the two rushed out. There, they saw Ada's doppelganger fall down to the ground with a blood splatter.
The two looked at each other before they went back inside. They headed down some stairs and a hatch before reaching an elevator. They went in after Ada pressed the button to go down. The communicator went off as they waited for the doors to open.
"Alpha Team, this is HQ. We've confirmed that Wong was telling the truth. There's a fully armed aircraft carrier in open water not far from your location. Satellite imaging indicates they're getting ready to fire missiles on the mainland. It's imperative that you stop them from launching even a single one." "Copy that, HQ," Chris said in response before the line cut off.
The two left the elevator and headed to where Carla's body lied.
"Your hatred for Simmons drove you to tear down the world they created, but it was your conscience, Carla, that saw you fail," Ada said. "After all, isn't that why you brought me-" She looked over at Luis before correcting herself, "-us into this?"
The two went closer as Luis began to speak.
"It's a shame, really. If you had only sought for vengeance against Simmons for what he did to you, we would have helped you," the Spaniard admitted.
The sound of something dropping caught both of their attention before Carla's eyes snapped open and she began to wiggle around. She gagged as something came out of her mouth, causing the two to back up.
Carla stood up as some kind of white-gray substance covered her body. She spat it out at the duo, causing them to move out of the way. They watch as she pushed herself up before looking at them.
"Get over yourselves," Carla stated. "Help me?" she then questioned before putting her hand on her throat. She groaned as the two shared a look.
"I'm the real Ada Wong!" Carla exclaimed. "I don't need help from anyone! My plans aren't failing. They're thriving!" She spat out more of the substance, the stuff on the ground beginning to move like it was alive.
"And soon, this frail shell of a society will collapse!" Carla exclaimed, her voice changing as she lost her appearance of Ada. Carla let out a groan as she shot out more of the substance.
"After that, you know what would be left of this world?" she questioned before she began laughing. "Nothing!" she proudly shouted. "Hell will rise and chaos will reign!" Her body then sunk down into the substance before her voice echoed, causing them both to look around.
"And I, Ada Wong, will be queen of the new world!" Carla proclaimed. Before the two could say anything, the substance began to move towards them. The two rushed inside of the ship, shutting the door before it reached them. They then looked through the small window on the door.
"Hate to break it to you, but you're a cheap knock off at best," Ada admitted. "You're not planning on queen anytime soon without me, are you?" Luis asked jokingly. Ada gave an amused hum before looking down. "Rest in peace, Carla," Ada then said before looking back at Luis.
"Let's get the hell out of here."

Chapter 12: The End of a Copycat
Summary:
Ada and Luis face off Carla and reunite with Helena and Leon
Chapter Text
"She must've injected herself with a pretty powerful dose of the C-virus. That's the only explanation for...well, that," Luis said as they jumped down a hatch. "Is that a good or bad thing?" Ada asked. "Remember what happened to William Birkin?" he reminded.
That was all she needed.
The two made a rush out of the ship, especially as the white substance began to make its way in. As they did, they heard Carla speak again.
"I'm Ada Wong..."
"Derek...Derek..."
Luis helped Ada open and shut a couple of the doors. One of them brought them to a hallway covered in something that could only be described as something flesh-like. It didn't take long for them to get through but it was creepy as hell.
As they continued to walk, Carla's face appeared. The two then began to run, arriving at another hallway of flesh. They avoided whatever came out of it as they reached an opening. They used their hookshots to make sure the head didn't reach them and landed on the ground. They both then turned towards the head.
Ada saw two cans of nitrogen. The two shared a nod before they fired at the cans, causing them to explode. Carla's face disappeared and the two stood up. "Ugh," Luis muttered with a shiver as they headed to a door. Ada twisted the wheel and the two pushed it open. They shut it behind them before seeing where they needed to go. However, they didn't make it far before Carla's head appeared again.
"I hate you! I'll kill you!" Carla cried out as the two fired at her, the damage causing an opening to form.
"So big yet so emotional," Ada said as she fired her machine pistol. "It's time for you to shut up, Carla," Luis stated.
"I'm the real Ada! Me!" Carla exclaimed as they kept firing. The opening was big enough to reveal the cans of nitrogen, having one of them fire at them. The cans exploded, having her face go away and the two to proceed.
"You tried so hard to destroy the world. Now, you've destroyed your body. Hope this is what you wanted," Ada stated as they got on the lift. She then pressed the button to make it go up. When the lift reached the top, the two headed inside of the helicopter. As Ada got it started, she heard a jet. She looked over to see one fly off.
"We'll let them take care of Carla's mess," she said. Luis chuckled before grabbing her gently by the chin. Before she could ask him anything, he placed a small kiss on her lips. "Had to make sure you were my Ada," he said with a wink. "You just wanted an excuse to kiss me," she accused, which had the Spaniard shrug. "Maybe," he said with a smirk.
Ada then took out the statue of the tower. "Now, let's go take care of Simmons," she stated.
The helicopter lifted off of the ground and towards the city. Straight to the tower.
----
They flew above the destroyed city. Luis let out a low whistle.
"She really was serious about this whole thing," he said before the communicator went off.
"This is HQ, requesting damage estimate."
"More BSAA stuff," Ada muttered.
"This place is done! There are B.O.W.s everywhere!"
They saw zombies attacking innocent people as they flew to the Quad Tower. It really did look like some kind of hell.
"She wasn't kidding about raising hell," Ada said before an explosion went off. She directed the helicopter towards it, arriving at a spot where there were zombies.
Along with Leon and Helena.
"Like a moth to a flame," Luis muttered as Ada began to fire at the infected.
"Leon, it's-"
"Ada! I thought she was dead."
"Let's move while we can."
"What? They said nothing about me?" Luis asked in a fake hurt tone. "Well, not like you had an evil twin," Ada pointed out.
"Shit! There's too many of them!"
"I think we're like his personal bodyguards," Ada commented. "Well then, let's do some guarding, shall we?" Luis said with a grin. They heard Leon and Helena give each other commands before Leon said something that caught Ada's attention.
"I wonder if this is apart of Simmons' plans?"
"I doubt it. Even Simmons wasn't this sloppy," Ada admitted. "Which means it must've been our proclaimed Queen Ada," Luis concluded. "Everything seems to line up," she said.
"Ugh, this sucks!" Helena exclaimed.
Once the last of the infected had been dealt with, Ada decided to bring them back on course. "You're on your own now, you two," she said before she directed the helicopter away.
As she flew the helicopter, she noticed how much traffic there was in the air. "Seems a little crowded up here. Someone oughta tell their boss has retired," she said, firing at the helicopters that appeared. Luis would warn her about any incoming missiles to make sure they weren't blasted out of the air.
"They're getting desperate," Ada observed. "You really didn't want us getting to this tower, did you, Carla?" she then asked. "I wouldn't blame her," Luis admitted.
After a little bit of piece, a unique looking aircraft appeared.
"That's a nice model. Wouldn't mind one of those for myself," Ada admitted as she fired at it.
It took quite a bit of bullets and even a few of the missiles for the aircraft to go down. "All style, no substance. Typical," Ada said as she watched the aircraft explode. "We've wasted enough time here. Let's get to the tower," she then said as she directed the helicopter towards the tower.
"Are you sure we can get this thing there?" Luis questioned as they got closer. "Just trust me," Ada replied, managing to find an opening in the building to get the helicopter to the tower's entrance without causing any destruction.
When she found where Simmons was, she also saw Leon and Helena. Simmons was most likely infected with the C-virus with how he looked. He turned his head towards the helicopter before limping closer.
"I know what you did, Ada!" he exclaimed, his voice distorted from his mutation and his body twitchy. "You disobeyed me! You took Wesker's son away!" He began to twitch more and his skin seemed to be burning off.
"You took the bastard's blood...to make the virus stronger!" He let out a scream, his body contorting in pain.
"That's what you get for trusting Ada Wong and Luis Serra," Ada stated before she began to fire at Simmons. It didn't take long for him to mutate into a giant dinosaur-like creature.
"Oh, he's a big boy," Luis said.
"He's...huge!" Helena said in disbelief.
"Oh boy," Leon said.
"Wish you were here, Carla...so that way you can clean up your mess," Ada stated as she kept firing, watching how Simmons reacted to the bullets on his back. "Don't use up all your energy, Simmons. Save some for us," Luis said with a soft laugh as Simmons jumped around the area.
As she fired at him, Simmons shifted back to normal. "No!" Simmons yelled out. "That's it? Show's over?" Ada teased. "Better than Krauser, I'll give him that," Luis admitted, causing her to snort.
After a bit of Simmons possibly recovering, he mutated again. At the same time, a car arrived and she watched as Leon and Helena got in. Simmons began to chase the vehicle while she kept firing at him.
"Speed up!" Helena shouted. "I'm going as fast as I can!" a new voice shouted in response, who Ada assumed to be the driver of the vehicle Simmons was driving.
"All this for the love of a woman. Tragic," Ada said. "That's obsession for you," Luis admitted.
"Get ready!" the driver exclaimed while Ada kept firing at Simmons. "That looks fun," Luis said. "Unload on that fucking bastard!" the driver exclaimed before they saw Leon and Helena fire from the back of the care at Simmons. It was short lived since Simmons tossed the vehicle, dumping Leon and Helena off. It soon exploded from the impact.
"I think we pissed him off!"
"Just stay focused! I think we can take him!"
"He's angry now," Ada muttered as another explosion went off. When the smoke cleared, it revealed Simmons in his human form. She began to fire at him.
"This is what you get for playing with the C-virus."
"And for trying to play some weird fucked up god."
After a bit of shooting, Simmons shifted to and fro, and making some small comments, Simmons was finally down. Ada moved the helicopter over where Leon and Helena were, the light flashing at them.
"Can't stay out of trouble, can you Leon? And always one step behind," Ada said before having the helicopter go up to reach the top of the tower.
Chapter 13: Fighting a Madman
Summary:
Ada and Luis face off against Simmons
Chapter Text
"You and Carla have left a lot of misery in your wake, Simmons. We're gonna make sure it all ends here," Ada stated. When she reached the top, she saw some people trapped on the roof. "Maybe we can at least buy these people some time," she said. "We've all seen enough senseless death for one day," Luis said.
With that, Ada began to fire at the zombies at the roof. It didn't take long to clear them out, but on a different part of the roof, there was more to do. So, Ada directed the helicopter over and fired at those zombies too.
When she fired at a particular one, it must've had a bomb because it exploded. Part of the tip broke off and fell down, impaling a zombie. "Hope they got insurance," Luis said as Ada began to direct the helicopter towards somewhere else.
"I'd like to do more, I really would. But carrying everyone out isn't an option," Ada stated as she headed towards a helipad. Of course, there just had to be zombies there. Just their luck.
"Excuse me, we're trying to land," she said as she fired at the infected. It didn't take long to clear them out and she soon landed the helicopter. The duo got out and Ada pulled out a rocket launcher before letting it rest against the helicopter. "Now, time to clean up the last of Simmons' mess," she said.
The two used their hookshots to get from where they were to the crane and from there to a different part of the roof.
"Okay, last item on the list: eliminate all traces of the theft of my identity," she said as they landed on the roof. "Sounds easy enough," Luis admitted as they headed to the door on the other side of the roof.
When they entered the floor below, an explosion went off. The two quickly rushed over to see an elevator getting blown off. Two people jumped out, causing the two to chuckle in amusement. "Ever the survivor, Leon," Ada said.
Luis cocked his gun back. "Well then, no rest for the weary," he said. "Let's play a little bit more of bodyguard for Sancho, hm?" Ada gave a laugh before cocking her own.
The two were quick to move out of the way before they caught up in an explosion that caused a hole in a wall. They both peaked their heads out before Ada looked up to see an elevator come down. "Perfect," she said before the two jumped on it. As they did, another familiar face showed up on the other side.
"Ada!" Simmons yelled out. "Back for more? You really are a glutton for punishment," Ada stated. She couldn't tell for where she was what his mutated form was supposed to be. Whatever it was, the tail could shoot bullets, causing the duo to move out of the way.
One of the bullets hit the elevator, causing it to be unstable. The two used their hookshots to get to the area above. When they did, Simmons spoke again.
"Ada! Welcome back!" he said as he charged at the two. They moved out of the way to not get thrown off before zombies began to appear. "You've finally come back to me," Simmons said.
"You deal with your fan. I'll take care of the zombies," Luis said before he began to fire at the zombies that appeared.
"You and I...we're destined to be together!" Simmons declared. "You were never as perfect as the real Ada!" Ada fired her gun at him, moving out of the way when he fired his tail.
"It was a mistake making you," Simmons stated as he got ready to charge at her. She fired her gun at him, quickly dodging the charge before he did hit her.
"I made you! That means you must obey me!" Simmons exclaimed. His tone then became calm. "Don't worry. I'll be gentle."
Ada and Luis met back to back as Simmons said, "You're mine! Every inch of you belongs to me!" "That's not creepy," Luis stated as he began to help Ada with Simmons while there weren't any zombies.
"Give in your feelings! You can't live without me!" Simmons stated as he fired his tail at the duo, causing them to move out of the way to not get hit. Ada was very grossed out at how Simmons spoke but bit her tongue. He was a madman and there was no way to talk sense into people like him.
"Ada!" Simmons yelled out just as the platform above began to fall. The two used their hookshots to get to higher ground. And surprise, surprise, Simmons was there too.
"You disgust me. Let's get this straight: I'm not your little doll, Simmons," Ada stated as the two fired at him. "In fact, the only thing I have in common with her is hatred for you."
As they fired their weapons, they saw Leon and Helena on the other side.
"Appreciate the gesture, but we're a big girl and boy, Leon. We can handle this ourselves," Ada said as she heard Luis fire his gun at some zombies. Simmons began to speak again.
"You were to be at my side, when I sat on my throne. Why...why aren't you obeying me?"
"Because she isn't your puppet. We've already told you," Luis said. "And he says he loves me. I thought he would know the difference between us," Ada said. Simmons seemed to choose not to listen.
"You are my masterpiece! My beautiful creation!" Simmons exclaimed.
"Am I going crazy or did he not say only two minutes ago that he regretted Carla?" Luis asked. "No, no, you recall correctly. It's just a manipulation tactic," Ada replied. Simmons began to shift back into a human, which hopefully gave them more openings.
"I want you by my side! Come to me, Ada!" Simmons yelled out. In response, she kept shooting bullets into him.
"Why...why can't you understand my love for you? Look at me, Ada! Yes. Yes! Look at me!" Simmons exclaimed. Ada kicked Simmons down before repeatedly punching him. She ended it with a sock in the face that knocked his head down before she got off of him.
"Why must you torture me?" Simmons questioned as he mutated. "Bow before me and prove your loyalty."
The platform they were on began to fall. So, the two used their hookshots to get to the area above again. Surprisingly, they were only met with zombies.
After dealing with some of them, Ada saw Simmons climbing up the building Leon and Helena were. She then heard Helena's voice in the communicator.
"Ada, Luis. If you can hear me, shoot him now," she said. Ada took her rifle out and aimed it at Simmons before she began to fire. "He's off to kill the competition," she said. "Guess I'm a target too, then," Luis said as he fired his gun as well.
The two fired at Simmons, which kept him down. Once zombies joined the fray, the duo switched between who was shooting Simmons and the zombies. However, Simmons seemed to catch on and jumped off the building. He then ran right at them. Luis moved out of the way but Ada wasn't so lucky. He knocked her down and her head hit the ground hard.
The world then went dark.
Chapter 14: Tying Loose Ends
Summary:
After Ada and Luis cleared up evidence of her identity theft, Luis has something to tell Ada

Chapter Text
"Ada!"
Luis rushed over to her, holding her close. "Shit," he whispered when seeing that she was knocked out.
"Stay away from her, Luis! You're not half the man she needs!" Simmons stated. "Come with me, my love. We'll be together forever."
"Not on my watch."
Luis looked up to see Leon was in front of them, gun aimed at Simmons.
"Leon, I need you-"
"I'm on it!"
While Leon distracted Simmons, Luis took out a scanner. He let the beam go over her body, feeling sweat form as it determined her vitals.
"Please be fine, please be fine," he said softly as the results loaded. When he saw what her condition was, he relaxed a bit. She had a few scratches but nothing life threatening.
"Come on, Ada, wake up. I refuse to believe that you'll let this take you out," he stated. "We both can get through this. We've been through worst."
"Luis!" he heard Leon call out. He looked over to see Simmons aim his tail at him and Ada. Without much thought, he moved to use himself as a human shield for Ada. He gritted his teeth from the pain in his back but pushed through.
His eyes widened in relief when he saw Ada open hers. "I was just resting my eyes," she said softly. Without much of a thought, Luis kissed her. At that moment, all he cared about was that she was safe. His heart fluttered when she kissed back.
He pulled away after a moment, brushing a strand from her face.
"You shouldn't sleep on the job," he lightly scolded. "You can write me up later. Right now, let's deal with Simmons," she said. With a nod, Luis helped her up to her feet. The two then helped Leon deal with Simmons.
"In case you haven't noticed, Simmons doesn't take rejection well," Ada said. "Is there some kind of back-story I should know here?" Leon asked. "Nothing worthwhile," she replied.
For the next minute or so, the trio sort of just ran around and stayed out of Simmons way. Making sure that he didn't knock them off, shoot them too badly, or any other tricks he might have. Granted, it was hard for Luis due to his back hurting but he wasn't gonna make it turn him into a liability.
Soon, in his human form, Simmons kicked Leon to the ledge. Luis and Ada shared a look before a nod. The two then went behind him as he spoke.
"Do you want to live? Then beg! Beg for your life!"
"I'll pass."
As Simmons kicked at Leon's hands, Ada pulled out one of her arrows. "Can't always get what you want, Simmons!" she stated before stabbing him with it. She then pulled him down with her as he shouted before she fired her hookshot. Luis followed suit, following her to the other side of where Leon stood. When Luis looked over, he saw how confused Leon looked.
"So cute," Ada said. "You're really confused by all this, aren't you, Leon?" she asked as he watch her take out the cube to send something. "It's fun to watch," she then said as she put the cube away. She gave a wave before she walked off, Luis following.
"So, you're gonna keep him in the dark?" he asked. "For now," she admitted as she looked over at him. She then raised a brow. "Something's on your mind," she said. He gave a laugh. "Let's deal with your identity theft first," he said before the two headed to the lab.
----
Ada used her hand print to open up a door that revealed a small hallway. Luis let out a small whistle at the sight.
"So, this is where Carla did her experiments, huh?" Ada questioned. "Looks like an experiment place," Luis admitted. She turned to look at him.
"You would know, wouldn't you?"
They reached a panel and Ada pulled out the Quad Tower statue. She placed it down, causing the lights to come on and monitors to light up. The voice of Carla then rung out.
"Another failure. Bring me another subject."
Images of what they saw in the "Happy Birthday Ada Wong" tape flashed across the screens, including new ones that probably relate to what she did as Carla's voice continued to speak.
"Why do you think we had this lab built in the first place? Just go outside. There's thousands of subjects to choose from."
"Tell Simmons that we're busy. I'm on the verge of solving this."
"Are you refusing my orders?"
"You're the one that chose me as a test subject, aren't you?"
Another voice then could be heard as the images kept flashing. This voice sounded like a man. A young one, if Luis had to be more specific.
"No. No...no, it was Simmons! He forced me to! Please! Don't do this!"
Carla's voice began to speak again.
"Believe it or not, I said the exact same thing."
"...Finally done it. This will be my greatest work yet!"
The monitors turned off after zooming in to an eye from an image of Ada. "Well then, that was informative," Luis said before the two continued walking. They entered a small room with a cocoon in a test tube.
The cocoon began to open up and a pair of hands came out. Luis shook his head in disgust as he heard Ada say, "We're beyond sympathy at this point."
Ada and Luis aimed their guns at two different things. Ada aimed hers at a cocoon while Luis aimed his at one of the machine that could explode. Luis then spoke.
"We're beyond humanity."
The two then fired their guns along the lab, destroying everything they could and causing multiple things things to explode. When they destroyed everything they could, Luis watched as Ada pulled out the device that had been leading them around during this whole thing. She then tossed it towards a computer, which had a photo of Carla and Simmons opened.
"Now then, what-" Ada began to say before her phone rang. Luis chuckled as he began to leave. "Meet up with me. You should know where I want to meet you," he said. Before she could respond, he left the lab and headed for the exit of the tower.
----
Luis leaned against the railing that prevented people from just falling off the ledge of the roof as rain fell from the sky. He heard the sound of heels hitting the ground and turned to see Ada, causing him to grin.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" she asked. "Always straight to the point," he said with a laugh. He then let out a breath, feeling nervous as he thought about how he wanted to word his next sentence.
"I-I've been thinking. About...everything. These pass, what, fifteen years? And...I'm quitting. Fully. I'm done with bioweapons fully," he stated, looking down. He didn't hear Ada say anything. He then blinked when feeling her had on his shoulder. He looked over to see her giving him a sympathetic look.
"You've been thinking about this for a while, haven't you?" she asked gently. Luis chuckled as he took her hand. "Our relationship these pass four years...I don't regret it. However, I would not forgive myself if you get hurt because of my past. Whether or not I actually had a hand in it," he said softly. "So, I'm not only doing this because I'm sick of dealing with bioweapons. I'm doing this for you."
Ada laughed. "I'm a big girl, Luis. I can take care of myself." "Even big girls need help," Luis said in response.
"So, where are you going to go?" she asked as she stepped back from him. "Back home. I think it's about time I held up to the promise I made when I graduated and become the village's doctor. It's perfect timing too," he said with a chuckle. He then headed over to her.
"But don't think of this as a good bye. Think of it as a see you later," he said softly. She gave a soft smile at him, causing him to smile back. He then kissed her cheek. "Just promise one thing."
"What?"
"No te pierdas."
The look on her face told him that she didn't know what it exactly meant but that she understood the gist.
"I promise," she said, having him smile. The Spaniard then held his hand out. "Now, may I have one last dance with you?" he asked. She chuckled before taking his hand, letting him pull her close.
The two then danced around the rooftop as their feet splashed the puddles that littered the ground.
They knew that once Luis left, there would be no telling when they would meet again. If they would meet again. However, in the moment they shared, they didn't worry about that.
They focused on the love they shared. The memories they had, good and bad. The way they felt at this moment. Each other.
The future could wait.
The present all that mattered to them.
