Chapter 1: The Octo And The Boopkins

Summary:

A lost girl meets a fish/bug thing

Chapter Text

There was an octoling named Desti.
She died.
--
On top of a hill, above a vast forest, there stood an altar. And sleeping on this altar was a girl with purple hair made of tentacles and a black hoodie, gloves and boots with a chibi octopus on it. Awaking from her slumber, she noticed it was night out but there was no moon in the sky and she was completely alone.

“How am I...? Must’ve been magic.“ The girl figured as she got off the altar. “Where is everyone?“

The girl walked down the hill and into the dark woods, calling the names of her friends as she walked. But all she heard were the howls and growls of unseen creatures further in the woods. With no direction all she could do was move forward, climbing, jumping and pushing through any obstacle that got in her way. As she got tired, she found a tree of white bark and red leaves and sat down at its base.

“Okay guys. If this is some kind of prank, you can stop now. This isn’t funny.” She said to anyone that could hear but once again there was no response. As she rested, tears started to fall from her face as the realisation hit her.
She was lost and alone.

“Why are you crying?” Came a childish voice that sounded too deep and too high at the same time. This spooked the girl out of her state as she turned her head towards the face and saw a familiar green fish creature with a blue mohawk. The only difference was that he was flying and glowing green.

“What that...? You’re that anime nerd who wasn’t a jerk.”

“Anime? What’s anime?” The green thing asked.

“Okay.... Do you know where your friends are?”

“Friends? I don’t have any friends.”

“Now that’s bullcrap!“ The girl screamed. “I know for a fact you have friends. Like Meggy. Or the red, fat guy. Or the dirty guy in the robe with knife hands. Or the angry anime chick.”

“I’m sorry. I don’t know any of those people. You’re the first person I’ve ever met.“

“You’re kidding.” She said to which the green boy just shook his head.

“No. I’m sorry. Oh, I know. We can be friends! I’m Buggy Boopkins.” He cried as he flew for a hug, but the girl just pushed him away.

“Yeah, no. Unless you can help me get home,” She said as she got up and walked away. “Leave me alone.“ The girl resumed her trek through the woods and it was isolated as before until she reached a tree with a locked door with no way to unlock, some symbols above the door and several lamps nearby. “Dammit“ she said under her breath.

“What’s wrong, friend?” Boopkins said from beside her. The girl just breathed in frustration.

“Nothing. I’ll just find another way around.”

“Why don’t I unlock it for you?”

“Good luck with that. Can’t see how can-“ And she stopped talking as he glowed an emerald green and used this glow to light the lamps upon the tree and opened the door. The girl was speechless.

“There you go.“ Boopkins cheered as he flew to hug her and she didn’t do anything to stop him.

“Ah...Thanks.” She said and walked inside. The room was small with a statue of a man who looked like Mario, a sword was pierced into the ground in front of it and there was light from an exit on the other side of the room. The girl walked over to the exit when a monstrous growl. As she and Boopkins backed away, the monster revealed itself to be...

A yellow rabbit.

“That’s a relief. I thought it was a-” The girl gloated but the rabbit just bit her arm. “AAAAHHH!! GET IT OFF GET IT OFF GET IT OFF“ She screamed as Boopkins went up to the rabbit and blind him with his light. The girl acted like she was trying to draw a weapon but to her horror she was unarmed.

“The sword! Get the sword! I can’t keep him blinded forever.“ Boopkins yelled. The girl pulled the sword from the ground and in one quick slash, cut the rabbit in two. The two breathed a sigh of relief when Boopkins saw her arm. “Oh no! You’re bleeding!”

“Oh this? Trust me kid. I had way worse than a bite wound. Let's just go.”

“No. Not till you’re better.”

“Boopkins you don’t have-” But she was once again silenced by Boopkins light as he healed her arm til the wound wasn’t there anymore. “I have to admit Boopkins, I’m impressed.”

“You’re welcome.” He said with a hug and the two made their way outside.

“Desti.“

“What was that?“

“My name. It’s Desti.“
