Chapter 1: 1. Hope, Landon & Caroline

Chapter Text

•Prologue•

Hope Mikaelson huffed, brushing her sweaty bangs out her as she busied herself by painting a large symbol on the ground. While Caroline Forbes, set three little golden bowls filled to the brim with their blood, along with Landon Kirby's blood in a triangler fashion. Both the tribrid, and the elder vampire placed things where they needed to be while he leaned back against the bar. Drink in hand. If not for his humanity being tuned down, he'd say truthfully he was exstatic about the plan his incredibly sexy and smart girlfriend thought up on her own before bringing Miss Forbes into the fold. The blonde was everything he heard of at the Salvatore school. So much so, that when they first officially met, she immediately started mothering Landon in her own, odd unique way. He liked her thus far, and wished like Hope they had met under better situations.

So if this spell worked as she meant it to. Her father would be returned to them, and Landon would be returned to his Phoenix state. This only left separating him from Malivore, abd putting an end to the drama before it could start. This also meant stopping his half brother. Well, that among other things. Such as getting the hollow out of Hope's father. While they didn't know how for certain if it would work, they agreed Landon would take the hollow, from there, a quick snap of his neck should put an end to it. "Alright. Everything is ready. Just need to light the candles and we'll be under way."

Caroline smiled, Landon grinned cockily though his smile didn't reach his eyes. This made Hope sigh sadly. Fingers crossed all around, she lit the candles, and soon the chanting started. At first, it seemed like nothing was happening, or maybe the spell had been a false lead. Till a rush of wind came flying in their direction. Hope's chanting grew louder, her hands, spread to before her, all of their slowly lifting into the air as she continued. Her eyes turning a bright shade of blue as she unleashed the full power of a fully turned tribrid. Ever since the death of her mother Hayley Marshall she had been holding back. Too afraid of more people she loved being killed. Thanks to her fear, she lost another. Landon. Never again.

A white flash of light enveloped the group, a burning sensation torching them on the inside, and with that, they left being the world they knew in favor of one they used to. When things were easier.

•One•

Hope's body burned. Ached with heaviness as she came to. She blinked, the blinding light making her eyes water as she became aware of surroundings. While everything looked familiar, and she recognized being in New Orleans, she questioned the when. As she gained the rest of her senses, she could feel the power of her magic flowing through, just not as strongly. This was expected as she wasn't a tribid just yet. Something she'd be fixing soon enough. Though upon further inspection she also didn't feel her wolf. Could it be possible she traveled back further than intended?

While the questioned had been retorical and she knew no one could answer it, apart from Landon and Caroline. Shit! Landon and Caroline? What if they hadn't showed up in this time with her? What is she were the only one? What would she do then? Her mind grew into a mild panic with her breath getting caught in her throat. It took every inch of patience to reatrain it. To remind herself that she wasn't completely sure of when she was. Not just the where. But fate must've smiled and took pity on her, as she felt the distinct vibration of a cellphone in her leather jacket.

Rapidly pulling it free, she nearly drop the damn thing in pure shock. There on the screen, was her father's name flashing in bold letters. This, wasn't her phone. In fact, it was her mother's. To her horror it hit her just when she landed in time. The start of where everything went horribly wrong. Her mom. Her dad. Uncle Elijah, who needed a nice smack to his head for his stupidity and removing his memories. She'd have to have Marcel fix that. Right after she chewed him out for even thinking to this without consulting the Mikaelson family. Taking a deep breath, hands shaking, she clicked answer and held the phone up to her ear. "Dad?"

She heared him breathing on the other end, and for a minute, she stopped breathing herself. "I was looking for your mother."

Swallowing, she replied, her words the same as the first time. "Yeah, so were we. I don't know where she is. She's missing."

Lieing never did any good. She knew that now. But onw final lie just till she could help them all, would have to do till she could reveal the truth. Helping her mom break the wolf binding spell that was placed upon her, would need to be taken care of immediately. "I'm on my way."

"Hey dad," she blurted just before he could end the call.

"Yes Hope?" He asked, worry lining his tone over her well being. While he was never near enough to spend time with his daughter as he wanted, it didn't mean he cared any less. Only that he wanted her happiness, and her safety.

Her voice may have cracked a bit. "I missed you."

"I've missed you to." She held in her sob, just barely enough for him to hang up. Dropping to the floor, all the grief she held in over her father's death, to have heard his voice again after the message that had been given to Landon, meant so much more. After all, she was his peace in this world. She stayed there on the ground a few more minutes, wiping her tears, and regaining control over her breath. While it left her mildly puzzled to how she got her mom's phone when it had been her aunt Freya who brought it to her the last time. She didn't spend much time over thinking it. There were things that needed to be done, and two others she needed to get a hold of. Among taking care of a traitorous ex who helped with killing her mom. Perhaps she'd let Landon deal with him?

She knew very damn well how angry he had been to learn of Roman's involvement. Was pretty upset at the time she declined his offer in teaching him manners. Should he offer again this time, she may just let him. Her mom's phone in hand, she quickly dialed Caroline's cell. She would need to stop by the grill to pick up Landon on the way.

The first ring hadn't even finished when her adoptive mother, answered. "Hope?"

Grinning, she simply said, "Hello, Caroline."

"Did we do it Hope? It wasn't just a weird dream?" She asked, probably as exstatic as she is in this moment.

"Yes, Caoline, we traveled back in time. But first, I need you to do me a favor." Hope nothing but laughter.

"Of course dear. What do you need?" No hesitation. No questions. If only the others at the school would be as welcoming of her as Caroline had been from the start.

"First, I need you to grab Landon and come to New Orleans. Secondly-" she riddled off the rest of her list, a thing she picked up from Caroline. Making a list of things to be done, usually meant everything got solved in a timely fashion. And if everyrhing was done to the letter, hopefully, everyone they loved, would be spared of pain this time around.

Notes:

So? Good? Bad? What did you think of the Klope bit? What became of Caroline & Landon? Any guesses to where they might be?

Chapter Text

•Two•

Caroline had been in her old room when she recieved the call from Hope. Tears prickled in her eyes at she saw a minor glimpse of her daughter while leaving in a mad rush for her car. Barely telling Alaric she had an emergency to take care of. It was on her drive to pick up Landon did it occur to her, that he was right in pointing it out. How could Alaric be the headmaster of the Salvatore school when he himself was not witch, werewolf, or vampire. Plus his biased view against Hope? Allowing Lizzie to bully her? All while claiming he spent so much time with Hope when she herself was not his daughter. If he truly worried so much about her turning bad like Niklaus why not have put her in school counseling? Why not notify Marcel or Freya once in a while about suspicious behavior and let them handle it?

While Landon may not have been around for long, it was for the reason, he got a clear view at the Mikaelson family, as well as a clear look at Caroline her connection to them. He didn't think her stupid. He just wanted a better out come for the twins, and for them to have a parent who wasn't going to put up with Lizzie's behavior, as well as getting Josie some help with her depression. After all, if it wasn't for her being lerft out by her father and sister, the need for dark magic, and feeling like something special, wouldn't have come to pass.

So when she recieved the phone call, she launched herself into action, making the long drive down to the Mystic Grill. Funny enough, Hope's plan was to sneak away to meet with Roman like last time, only this time she would text a false message, asking Caroline to grab her father, and let him know where she and her mother was. But to make sure, her mom didn't get hurt, she would bring Landon along, pretending that he was a new student she was collecting for the school. It was at this moment, she would say when she got the concerning message, and went in search of Klaus. New student in toe. This way, Elijah also wouldn't have the chance to snap her neck again.

The Mystic Grill was a bit packed, with many students from the local highschool just getting out, and enjoying their dinner. It was there she found Landon, just finishing up his shift. She slowly approached, and called his name, just loud enough for him to hear. "Landon!"

His bobbed upward, and for a minute she worried he might've not returned back with him. She didn't know how hurt Hope would be if that is the case when this whole thing was to save both Klaus, and Landon. Her fears were bashed to the side when a small smile slid onto his face, his curly hair falling into his eyes a bit which held a glint in them. Pure happiness that she hadn't ever seen on a persons face since all three of the girls were small. Seeing such a look on his face tugged at her heart painfully. His manager, who was near by, watched the entire exchange, questioning Landon on how he knew Caroline.

He merely laugh and quickly came up with a lie. "She's my new foster mom."

With that he scooped up his backpack, his leather jacket as rushed around one of the tables. The two of them made their escape, and Caroline found herself grinning like she hadn't in many years. While she hated the whole lie, and wanted to raise her students to tell the truth always, for now, she let it slide. Landon slipped into the back seat, no questions asked, besides, he had a feeling Klaus would be wanting the passanger seat. He told her as much when she gave him a look of confusion through the rear view mirror. This led her to dropping her head foreward, a mild scoff slipping free. Damn Phoenix saw everything. Her annoyance lasted a couple minutes till she remembered the stories Hope gave her about his childhood. Her fingers gripped the steering wheel tightly, and while she normally was big on sparing humans, being a mother, she couldn't help but want a single request from Klaus.

The drive from Mystic Falls to New Orleans took longer than either of them would've liked. Each worried for Hope, worries over her potentially losing Hayley again. As the last time, Caroline found Klaus easily. Thank the stars for a vampires perfect memory. While she thought Landon should stay in the car, in a town full of the supernatural? Keeping him close was better. Before they went for Klaus, they picked up some snacks, water. They both wanted the story of Hope's text to seem more legit.

"Should I bow?" Startled free of her thoughts, Caroline paused in her steps.

Curiosly she peered over her shoulder at him. "What?"

He clarified himself. "Should I bow? I mean, isn't he king around here?"

She laughed. "No. Just, don't draw any attention from him in a way that'll lead to him killing you."

It was Landon's turn to laugh. "Good to know."

They walked through New Orleans, enjoying the view. Especially Landon, as sadly he died before he ever got the chance to see it last time. So, yes, momentarilly he may have gotten distracted. She dragged him along, and when they neared the home of the originals, she entered, her new student in toe.

The both of them heard the frustration of the hybrid as tossed the future around. Roaring loudly, as he broke everything piece by piece. It was then she asked for Landon to stay behind her. She didn't him to become the prime target of rage. While she he would calm down for when alone, she had yet to try this in front of anyone else. Inlcuding Hope. "Klaus? Klaus?"

In his hands he held a glass vase, pausing mid throw to greet her. "Hello love."

The bang of glass shattering led her to jumping. Of course he would find a way to flirt with her while breaking furniture. Taking a deep breath, pushing her shoulders back, she kindly asked that he quit what he was doing, and listen to what she had to say. Then, and only then, did she put into play Hope's plan, and with the words that flowed from her mouth, she knew she had his full attention.

It took every inch of nerve and steal not to fall to the ground in pieces. She needed to be strong. Be strong, help Hayley survive, and only then, would she handle the wave of emotions she was submurging under being here with the love of her life.

•Three•

Klaus listened to Caroline, his eyes burning just seconds after showing him the text from Hope. If he wasn't upset before in regards what happened with his daughter's mother, he was certainly now. His little wolf and littlest wolf both needed him. So, without any hesitation, Landon followed close behind the pair, watching them quietly. In the first five seconds, the all powerful hybrid watched back. Staring at him with a curious gaze, puzzled by his being there, but at least he wasn't a percieved threat. He bet it wouldn't go over well between father and daughter. The ice was broken when he finally asked, "Caroline, who is this?"

A hand was waving in his general direction while she kept her eyes on the road. Oh. Introductions are usually an important when it comes to your girlfriend's father? He mused over in his head. Perhaps in they were all ordinary humans he wouldn't be losing his sleep tonight wondering if he got the great Niklaus Mikaelson's approval of being in a relationship with Hope.

Sticking with their story planned ahead of time, he simply said, "I'm her new foster son."

It was worth seeing the look of surprise cross over onto the hybrids face. If this was to be his last day on earth, it was well worth toying with him. Just a bit. Caroline laughed at his antics, and laughed even more when she risked a look at Klaus's reaction. She supposed, he probably never thought she'd take the adoption route knowing the dangers of doing so. Not many reacted well to learning of their vampirism. "So sorry, he's actually a new student for the Salvatore school. I asked that he say that should people ask about the two us on the drive back."

The tension in Caroline's body had completely gone. Finally relaxing, and calmly getting reused to being near Klaus again. It had been so long. She truly missed him more than she thought possible. He wasn't wrong in saying he'd be her last love. Out of all the guys she got involved with, he was the only one to keep his promises to her prior to his death. Perhaps they could work on that a little better this time around. "Klaus Mikaelson, Landon Kirby, Landon Kirby, Klaus Mikaelson."

She watched as he threw her a small smirk from the rear seat as her eyes mildly flashed onto the rear view. Dear gods, what was he up to now? "So, how long have you two been dating."

A look of horror smacked dead onto her face, and her body stiffened like someone dumped an ice bucket of water on her. Klaus on the other hand faced Caroline for a few minutes before he let out a bellowing laugh. For fuck sakes she thought to herself as her felt her face burn red from embarrestment. Landon Kirby had been no where near being a Damon 2.0. More like he may be a mini Kol Mikaelson who teased the daylights out of his older brother. Only, he was purposely teasing her. She risked one more look at the phoenix and realized he was also possibly a klaus 2.0. Only, with a lesser kill count. A non existant kill count which may just start today. Starting with the vamp bitch who hurt his girl and cause so much pain for her in the future. Roman was already on his hit list. His mother was next.

When Landon awoke in his old bedroom in his foster's parents house, he was both angrily morbid to be back there again. The only thing to keep him from raging or causing a problem, he grabbed the stuff he needed and just headed to the Mystic Grill. Work his shift like he always did in the past and waited for Caroline to come get him. Turning in the passenger seat, head quirked to the side, Klaus asked, "So, what are you then? Vampire? Werewolf? Or witch?"

"Or something." He answered. Not wanting to give himself away. His being a phoenix would be a shock all around. For Klaus, Hayley. For Caroline who hadn't got to know him previously when he was alive. She heard the stories from Hope, but never got see him take on his other form. No one but Hope really got to see him like that. On the full moons, he had taking to shifting with her so she wouldn't be alone. Not as before. The other werewolves were too sensitive to be anywhere near her for being who she is, and who her family is. As if family was a choice. Surely he never had family, or anyone who loved him.

The fact that Hope put her faith in him, loved him, and trusted him, it burned his heart with something he never knew in all the time he grew up in the foster homes. Life was a bed of nails till he met her. The only one who as cliche as it is to say, was and is his only Hope. She'd the change he wished for when he was only six years old, when a foster father he had burnt him with cigarretes.

Funny how life works. His 'or something' hadn't slipped past Klaus's mind, and he was going to be having questions with Caroline about the boy later. If not a vampire, and possbly one of the other two, he was certainly calm. Almost too calm. But then again, it wasn't like this kid knew who he is. Or his history. Little was he aware of how much Landon actually knew about him. "Klaus Mikaelson. I'm asssuming it's actually Niklaus Mikaelson am I right?"

"Klaus!" Caroline shouted, stunned as he lurched from the passenger seat, hand gripping Landon around his neck, fingere digging into his skin, likely leaving a bruise once he let him free of his grip.

He ignored her of course. To focus on the one who held his ire. "Who are you that you know my full name? Hmm?"

If not for the life and death thing with Hayley Marshall, Landon without a doubt, wouldn't hesitate to smart mouth him out of instinct. One of his coping mechanisms to deal with the abusive assholes in his life. For Klaus, he knew he had paranoia, and being on the run from an abusive prick like Mikael Mikaelson, he wasn't gonna be one to judge him of his behaviour. Instead he simply responded with a question, wanting to shake him up just a bit. "You're Hope's dad, aren't you?"

He coughed, air burning his lungs as the oxygen finally hit at full force. His next question he directed at Caroline, putting a tint of curiosity in his voice. "So I'm right, he's Hope's dad isn't he?"

She sighed in relief. Smiling in spite of what happened between the two. Now she saw what Hope mentioned about him not having a preservation instinct. Likely due to his upbringing. She really should send Klaus after them. Maybe as a small token of affection she held for him. "He is. Time to focus though. We have arrived at our destination."

The old house brought many dark memories to mind, and with the plan they cooked up. Never again, would they suffer. Not if they could help it.

•Four•

Klaus's mouth parted wanting to further question this Landon Kirby and his connection with Hope. But it wasn't the time. His little wolf and littlest wolf needed him. Without another thought the three of them were out of the car. Marching in the direction of the house until Landon yelled, "watch out!"

He didn't even think twice shoving Caroline out of the way and getting his neck snapped by Elijah Mikaelson. She gasped in horror in spite of herself. She knew he was immortal, a phoenix but it was still jaring to comprehend. Klaus roared with anger at his elder brother. It was clear he truly lost his mind. Yes, like him he's killed countless others, but since having his daughter the amount of killing had been limited down to those who actually deserved to die. It was due to her he had been given a second. Sadly, from his perspective, not aware of what Landon actually is, he thought the poor boy just lost him.

With this, he launched forward and nipped Elijah on the neck while snapping it in the process. What goes around comes around. He left him lying there, alone with Landon, marching forward to take care of a pest problem. Caroline followed suit. The two of them entered, with Klaus peaking in, only for the rage he felt to boil over at what he saw. Roman held a tight grip on Hope, who looked frightful, while Hayley, was pressed up against a wall. Fangs bared as she failed miserably against his mother. "Klaus!"

Both he and Caroline wasted no time. Roman shoved Hope forward, directly into the blondes arms, who now tried to comfort her, while keep her safe as her father delt with the problem. "Stay with me."

She bobbed her head, annoyed with the bracelet romans mother had placed upon her. It sucks because the stupid thing prevented her from doing any type of magic. Had she been able to, she would've put Roman and his mother on their asses where they belong. As for her dad, her eyes stung and went blurry at the sight of her mom and dad. Only one small whisper from Caroline, was enough to settle. "Landon is here. He'll be in soon."

But the last thing, she only mouthed to her. Just enough that she got the message no one else needed to hear. With the broken neck from Elijah, this allowed for him break the magic lock on his abilities and become a full on phoenix with many powers unknown to them just as her own powers were to herself and others.

As for Hayley, the damn vampire had stabbed her arm through her back, hand squeezing her heart. Klaus was growing frustrated in how to free her from the bitch, and save his daughter and her mother. But with her being in such a way, it made things difficult. His eyes glowed a vibrant yellow, wanting so much to sink his fangs into her and be done with it.

She was so very close to screaming at Klaus to just take Hope. Knowing that with Caroline around, she'd be safe. She'd still be loved by the family. That was enough for her. However, someone must've been watching out for her. Be it her dead parents or someone, as a small creak in the floor, told her someone else had entered the house. While she couldn't see who it was, it did trouble her. Till it didn't.

The evil woman currently clutching her heart with her fingers screamed in pain. It echoed in her ears. "Let her go. Now."

A smug grinned line Klaus's facial features. Perhaps the boy is indeed a vampire. No witch or werewolf could survive a snapped neck and tell the tale unless one of the undead. Likely newly turned. It explained also how he might now his daughter. He knew that the witches at Hope's school helped in bringing the new students in for safety reasons. As they were only ones capable of stopping werewolves and vampires with a single flick of the wrist.

Hope had never been more attracted to Landon other then now. A breath of relief escaped her, while Roman, who been trying to get to her, to explain, she knew the truth of him. Been done with him for his. Now, it was time for him to pay up. Perhaps a torture session between her father and Landon would help them bond more as future son and father in law. And just like always, he put her needs above her own. "Hope, you okay?"

With her silent okay, he pulled his arm back, taking the vile nazi vampire's heart with it. She dropped to the ground like the stone, and for a single minute, Klaus gave Landon a look of approval. He even turned to Hope and said, "keep this one."

His daughter looked startled, watching as Landon stepped over the womans body in the direction of Roman who looked terribly afraid with no one longer around to protect him. He knew nothing but his the pain of having his neck snapped followed by darkness.

Stepping forward, Hope moved towards her mother gripping Hayley close. Quietly sobbing against her chest as she always did when she had a nightmare. Both her mom and dad hushed and quieted her. Today was hard on the three of them. For this reason, Caroline and Landon stepped outside, throwing Roman's boy into the truck of her car, along with Elijah who Caroline staked to ensure he slept for rhe ride back to the home of the Originals. Grabbing a large thin blanket from the back of the car, plus some gloves for Hayley's hands, Caroline handed them over to Landon, while she brought the car closer to the front porch.

To which Landon felt a little bad about. He knew Hope had been without her parents for so long, but they couldn't wait on the sun to go down. They'd be to vunerable here. An easy target. Speaking of which, he needed to remove the stupid bracelet that was placed upons Hope's wrist. It irritated him to high degrees that any one stupid as Roman would lay his hands on her.

"Sorry to intrude but these are for Hayley." He gave her the gloves first, then handed her the blanket. He then took his girlfriend's arm into his hand, tearing the bracelet free. She smiled, casting a small protection spell on the blanket just for her mom to get home. As for Klaus and Hayley, they didn't know what to make of the boy who seemed to know Hope and vice versa.

From the look Hayley saw the two of them flash each other, she'd say they were an item. But how could that be? As far as she knew, Roman was the only one she had been seeing. What was it about this boy, that he captured their daughter's attention? What made their daughter open up to him so completely? More than she ever did for the last few years.

A honk of Caroline's car horn, and they were out. Klaus and Caroline in the front, Landon, Hope and Hayley in the back who rested her head against the door, ensuring the blanket didn't slip off of her once. The last thing anyone wanted was to see her die so easily. As for the love birds in the back seat, while they thought no one was looking, they all caught glimpses of the two holding hands, and Hope resting her head upon Landon's shoulder. Tired from today's events, as well as from the hollow inside of her. The next thing on the list which needed to be crossed off.

The car doors slamming shut woke the two, each startled by the noise. Klaus looked at them both curiously as he helped Hayley into their home. While Caroline ushered the children in, as well as taking care of the dead weight in her trunk. Once everyone was in, after a few blood bags, the blanket gone, Hayley dropped down onto the couch pointing in the direction of the dark curly hair teen who seemed to charm her baby girl so much. "Who's this?"

Hope blushed, rubbing at the back of her neck nervously. While Landon, took the lead and lifted tons of problems off her shoulders. "That Miss Marshall, is a long story."

Hayleys lips twitched at the Miss Marshall hit. In her mind she figured he's likely an ex foster kid just like herself. "Hayley is fine. And we've plenty of time. Just start at the beginning."

This time, her daughter took charge. Clearing her throat, and mentally preparing for the wave of questions to be thrown at her, she opened her mouth to speak.

Notes:

So, yay! Hayley is alive. Roman and whatever his mom's name is will be punished accordingly. Looking forward to you reading what I have planned next chapter.

•Five•

Hope breathed deeply. Letting a wave of calm over flow her as she thought where to begin with their story. All of them were sitting amongst each other. Caroline near her dad, Landon beside her, holding her hand and rubbing small soothing circles with the pad of his thumb which hadn't gone unnoticed by either of her parents. Both who narrowed their eyes in his direction. Her mother Hayley did so as she didn't know Landon, and with what happened with Roman plus his mother she is weary of his intent and involvement with her only child. Her concern stemmed from the possibilty of him just using Hope as Roman did.

As for her dad, Klaus while he was mildly impressed by Landon's actions earlier today. The fact his daughter shared her family history with this boy, weighed heavily in his stomach. Some part wanted to end his life before he could cause trouble for them. The other half, wanted to be able to give him a minor amount of trust till he proved otherwise. But by then, who knows, he knew he could be entirely wrong. He'd wait for his daughter to give her explination, beyond that, well he'd decide Landon's fate when it was over.

A war raged on the inside of Hope. Her magic combined with the hollow, becoming almost too much to bear. So she chose to start there, then move onto the rest of the story. With Caroline and Landon at her side, giving their silent nods of approval, that's where she led with. "I know how to get rid of the hollow."

Klaus and Hayley both sharply inhaled at that. His eyes turning gold while her mother's turned into that of a vampire. Blood red, with black veins appearing beneath them. As far as they knew, the only way to get rid of the hollow was for the host to die. Something they did not want for Hope as it meant to lose the best part of both of them combined. Hayley was the first to speak. "You do? How?"

She threw a smile in her mom's direction. "We both know, to destroy the hollow, the host must die."

"We do." Was the response.

To which Hope threw a small smile in Landon's direction who smirked proudly as he said, "that's where I come in."

"What do you mean?" Her dad asked. Perhaps the boy was just a young vampire? A baby as his Caroline had been when they first met. Perhaps, the lad was seeking death. Vamlirism wasn't for everyone. Not just anyone could handle the benefits of immortality.

Looking her dad directly in the eye, "I know you've taken a guess on what Landon is. Though you couldn't be farther from the truth."

This puzzled Klaus greatly. In most instances, he hated to be proven wrong about anything. "What is he then? He clearly isn't mortal. That much is clear."

He watched as Landon's head dropped forward, his shoulders shaking as he laughed. Till Hope smacked him up side the head, softly asking, "will you behave yourself?"

"Yes love." He said out of reflex. The two of them freezing in place for a minute as Caroline fell back against the cushion of the couch she sat in. Hayley looked amused at what she was witnessing whereas Klaus looked simply amazed by how free his daughter seemed. It made him realized that in might not be simple infatuation she felt for the boy sitting next to her. How on earth could such a person exist that he checked off almost every box on the list he personally created for Hope's potential suitors. The one he made when she was only a day old.

She cleared her throat, pretending that she hadn't accidently started flirting with her soulmate in front of her parents. "He's something other than a vampire. But for you to believe what I say, we'll have to show you."

It is only then did he leave her side, stepping to the center of the room, he took a deep breath and let himself bring forth his other form. It took a tedious amount of months and tons of encouragement from Hope in order to get him this far. He felt the warmth of his fire, floating around his body, starting at his ankles and moving up. Like before, Hayley and Klaus gasped at the sight, watching as the flames grew brighter, and bigger as they encased themselves around Landon who was now floating in the air. Head tilted back with his arms out to his side. With a thrust forward, gone was the boy with the dark curly hair. In his place, a giant black bird, with sharp pointed feathers on his wings and tail feathers stood. Tall, and proud.

Head once again thrown back, he released a bellowing screech which echoed throughout the entire Mikaelson home. His eyes, burned a fiery red. Pupils narrowed to slits as he eyed up Hayley and Klaus. His wings, flattened against his side as he stepped forward. Taking to stand at Hope's right side. In this form, his only instict was to protect his beloved. His mate, Hope Mikaelson.

Hayley and Klaus gaped with their jaws dropped open. Caroline stared in pure awe. The Landon looked to her, in a small way, it reminded her of the Maleficent movie which came out. Only, instead of horns at the top of Landon's head were a bundle of long, thick black feathers. To which he croaked, and cooed at his girlfriend who is now lightly running her fingers across his skelp. "Landon is a phoenix. He's also agreed to take the hollow from me seeing as a phoenix can die, and be reborn."

Let it be said, that upon this day, her father actually shed some tears for the first time since becoming a vampire. No one, but them, would be privy to this secret. What's more the big bad hybrid that is her dad, took the offered comfort given to him by none other than Landon, who viewed Klaus with his head tilted directly at Hope's delicate touch. Stepping away and towards her father, he clicked his beak twice, heads spreading out to the side just a tad as he bowed in front of the king of New Orleans.

Never again, shall he or the rest of the Mikaelson family know pain. This is a silent he made to them, as he vowed to Hope.

Notes:

So? Hayley and Klaus are in the know. Where do we go from here.

Also, I took some inspiration from Bloom's transformation in the Winx Saga. Also from Maleficent. 💜

And Handon? What did you think of them?

Chapter 7: 7. Klaroline & Handon

Notes:

Hey everyone, I apologize for the time I've been away, but I've been busy with job hunting and working on the second installment to an original work I self published on Amazon.

So, as penance, I brought you this cute little chapter with Klaroline & Handon who I do not own. Sadly they belong to Julie Plec.

Also, I've been debating if I'll give you guys a sample of the original work I wrote here on A03, or not. Dealers choice?

Hayley was drinking down bag after bag of human blood. With a rough look of disgust on her face. Disgust, and sadness. Losing her wolf side, burned freshly in her mind. While she tried to focus on the positive, such as Hope, and her boyfriend, Landon, it was near impossible.

Caroline and Klaus, didn't have the same problem, and were now tucked away in his art room. She looked around the room, taking in the paintings he had drawn over the years, including the ones he drew of her. She eyes them all, shyly peaking at the corner of her eye while he smiled with his dimples on display. She missed that when he was gone. Her only way of seeing them was on Hope, a painful reminder of what she lost. Last love indeed.

As for Hope and Landon, once he returned to human form, they had gone out for dinner, as well as collecting the remaining Mikaelson's. A quick call to Kol, Rebekah, and Marcel done with swiftness. All soundly as equally puzzled as their brother. Elijah, was another matter entirely. While a part of Hope would always love her uncle, the other side of her, would never stop hating him for being involved with the death of her mother last time around.

For this, Landon checked her multiple times. Knowing the hollow could easily twist her emotions. Twist her pain more then what it was. They bought pizza, a rare occasion for them both with the whole malivore BS they handled. Caroline, was livid to learn about Alaric being a terrible dad. She told him time and time again that the girls needed love and guidence. His choosing everything else over them. Stung more than she'd ever make known to them.

It was that alone, she was even considering having this discussion with Klaus. She knew he'd do what was asked of him. No questions. When she told him about the twins, what they went through, a new word would need to be invented to describe what raged under his skin. Daily he got refered to as the great evil. Abomination. His siblings all cast their remarks not knowing it was their own words which led him down a path of darkness.

Oh, he more than knew he wasn't a saint. Never claimed do be one. But to claim they suffered when he daggered them? They never knew the same kind of abuse he did when Mikael beat him to near death since he appeared to be the weakness member of the family. Was it his fault that their damn mother, had to go and screw a werewolf? No!

Yes, they play the victim. But none of them understood him before nor after his wolf had been locked away. Which is why as soon as Freya arrived, he'd want a daylight ring, bracelet, anything of Hayley's choosing made for her. Just till they could unseal her wolf.

In a small way, Caroline knew the feeling of not being her. Of being trapped. Unable to scream out her pain while Damon abused her over and over again. A bit of informarion she wouldn't share with anyone just yet.

"Mom? Dad? Caroline? We brought pizza." Caroline and Klaus fell apart hearing those words. Such a teenage thing to want nothing other than a greasy deep dish. Things would be alright. They just had to be. Always and forever.

Notes:

So? Klaroline? Handon? I will try to bring future chapters, but know I also have a Wattpad account & Inkitt account for posting my originals, which along with this fanfic, takes a good amount of time.

Please do let me know if you'd like a sample however & if you'd like me to continue the story. Plus, any grievences you have had with Legacies comment below, I may selected one for the next chapter.

•Seven•

With Landon falling into his reseach mode, wanting to track some sort of info on Malivore, her father and Caroline teamed up with him. Her father subtly hinting he'd be doing what he did best. Being her loving, over protective dad. With her aunt Bekah, and Kol catching their flights to Louissianna, this left just her and her mom Hayley.

Hayley, who is still wrapping her around the fact that in another time line, she died at the hands of Greta. The Nazi vampire as her daughter refered her as. Roman was, her daughters ex, was still locked up below, unlong with Elijah. She grimaced. She loved the stupid elder original brother more than anything. But with him choosing to lose his memories of her and the family, she didn't know if she'd be forgiving him right.

It stung that she hadn't been enough in his eyes. One thing for sure, he'd be sleeping out on the couch from then on. Memories of her or not. As for her daughter, she couldn't be happier then to know she found her epic love.

So while they waited on Landon, Klaus, and Caroline, Hope urged her to join her for a movie. A movie! She never allowed for her to watch movies as a small child. Wanting her daughter to always relie on her wits, and power. She never wanted her to fall into a false view point of the world. But it seemed that Landon had caught her up to speed on the cinema world. In fact the movie she found on Amazon Prime was none other then an old MGM film by the name Anastasia. Ironic that both Hope and her are princessess who lost their family. The very first movie the two of them ever watched.

It brought tears to Hayley's eyes when they arrived at a point in the movie, seeing her sing along. "Home, love, family, there was once a time I must of have them to. Home, love, family, I will never be complete until I find you."

"I will never be complete until I find you." Caroline joined mid song, dropping down to the opposite side, arm thrown over Hope's shoulder. As it turned out, she to knew of the movie, and nothing could be more fitting for someone who shared the same horrors in her life.

This was one of the few movies, next to StarWars that allowed for Hope to make peace with herself at the loss of both her parents, and an orphan. She didn't question it when Caroline returned to the living room. Likely her dad would keep an eye on Landon and still interrogate him. She laughed at the thought.

"Far away, long ago, glowing dim as an ember. Things my heart used to know, things it yearns to remember. And a song someone sings, once upon a december." She sniffled, wiping at the tears gathering at the corner of her eyes, as both her mother's wrapped her in their arms. For once since in a very long time, she drifted off to sleep, as if nothing in her life had ever gone wrong.

So? Good? Bad? Comment thoughts below.

Landon's eyes were planted firmly on the text book in front of him. Sitting at the table, just on the opposite was the powerful hybrid, Hope Mikaelson'a dad, Nikalus Mikaelson. He to had pitched in on the research project. Long enough that Landon's eyes were beginning to sting with exhaustion. It wasn't till Hope and Caroline came knocking some odd hours later did they relent in their searching for breakfast. Both recieved a kiss to the cheek, while Niklaus looked positively scandelous recieving such attention from his love, Landon down right looked afraid and worried that Hope's father would seek his head on a silver platter. She led him out to the kitchen. The smell of food hitting his nostrils.

For this morning, they had waffles, chocolate chip pancakes, sausage, bacon, toast with creamcheese, cooked ham and the like, with freshly made coffee. His mouth water at the sight, his stomach rumbling in eargerness to be filled with a nonfast food meal. This looked like everything he could want, as he took a seat next to his love. Hope, already setting things on his plate, giving an encouraging smile, and reminding him that he had right to eat, and that it didn't need to be earned as his foster parents made him believe. He tucked in, following her example. Something which had gone unnoticed by her father who was now joinning them at the kitchen table with Caroline at his side. He knew he'd be asking the boy of his history before making the final judgment. Roman already slipped through the cracks. He wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

All he wanted for is his daughter's happiness. Something he knew Hayley agreed with. As for Hayley, while he didn't see her there amongst them, he knew from Caroline she had gone and turned in. Having finished a few bloods bags. Hope, kindly spelled her mother a ring, for her to wear out in the sun. She dare not live to see her mother burn to ashes if she could help it. All around, things worked out pretty good. Till Rebekah, Kol, and Freya appeared. While they planned to leave her out of things, they had been too busy to give the eldest of Mikaelson a call to notify her that things worked out for the best.

Things were certainly up to a great start this morning.

Notes:

Please let me know what you think.

Chapter Text

*Nine*

It had been a good amount of time since Hope seen her aunts and uncle Kol. With her family all gathered here, right before her, it was hard to not start crying. Her shoulders started as her quiet sobs turned louder by the minute. As for Landon who had been standing the closest to her, he said one thing that had her dying of laughter. "Guess I should've brought some icecream."

While she knew it was a dream of his to taste something so horrid, she prefered a peanut butter blast with whipped cream at the bottom. As for everyone else, they had gathered close. Especially her mom and dad who, after hearing everything of the future, and what became of their daughter, left them very worried. In a single glance between Hayley and Niklaus, they nodded in silence. Which didn't go unnoticed by the rest of the Mikaelson's.

As for Caroline, she allowed all of them their family moment. She missed Nik terribly, but now wasn't the time for her to be jumping his bones. Their always and forever could wait. Hope needed her family, and their love in order to feel safe. So, with a single look to Landon, they left the ones they loved and returned to the kitchen. Ten minutes later they returned serving everyone before taking care of their personal needs.

Which thanks to Hope and Niklaus, a seat was saved by each of their dear ones. Time for the show to get on the road. As Niklaus and Hayley hadn't believed, neither did the others. So, as before, Landon transformed for the second, this time with Hope's parents looking on in awe. Hayley couldn't be more prouder that her daughter found her epic love.

Who would've known that the most powerful being on the planet, would meet another powerful being. That said, from what Niklaus saw of Landon thus far, he knew he'd become an honorific member of the family. That is if he so wished. Never would he allow his daughter to suffer again as she had. Now first things first. Whatever were they to do with Elijah? Yes, his memories would need returning. But, he for sure needed to learn his actions would have dire consequences. Something Hayley, was all too happy to provide. Along with Freya and Rebekah.

As for Kol. He wanted to learn more about Landon, and his phoenix abilities. While he never got the chance to be a witch. He certainly didn't mind looking into what his future nephew in law could do. To which Landon, and Hope fully agreed.

Chapter Text

*ten*

Shortly after more explaing went on, discussions about Elijah and what was to be done had taken place and for the first time ever, Hope's father daggered him. A simple punishment. As they felt too untrusting to leave him be when he might harm the family intentially again. Sure Rebekah didn't like the thought of doing this to her elder brother but even Kol eventually got her to concede to the idea. Marcel was more than willing to compel him, had he still had the ability to do still. But seeing as his new found upgrade turned out to be a temporary thing, even he knew, that for his uncle it was for the best.

As for Hope, she left a while ago, along with Landon to take a nap in her bedroom. Door open of course at her boyfriends insistance in not wanting to anger her hybrid father with a closed door. Of course sleep did not last long when the Mikaelson's been raging and argueing what course of action might be best to protect her. How could they? How could Klaus? Knowing that he died, leaving his daughter alone in the world as he had been for thousands of years? While his siblings argued he hadn't been alone. He knocked that right back explaining that even if they were apart of his life, they never truly understood him, or what he felt having his wolf side trapped for thousands of years.

His daughter truly had been his saving grace. To which he loved her all the more for guiding him back to the light. For reminding him how he been in his human life. Now, with Caroline, and her bird boy, second chances for them, as well as for his love, eternity would be in their grasp. He hated that she would be turning into a full tribrid soon. He would never push her into turning unless she desired. Ever. But as she requested, he would follow. No questions asked. He found her in the art room. Having heard her foot falls upstairs. Her bird boy perched in front of the window, in phoenix form with wings folded at his sides as she painted swirls of colors on the blank canvas. Silent, attentive to the detail much as he did with Caroline in the past.

As for Hayley, she said her goodbyes to Elijah. Tears streaming down her cheeks. She to, had grown weary, tired from the adventure. Not quite processing that she nearly died, and actually did die in an alternate reality to her own. But really with Elijah's betrayal, she wasn't sure if death wouldn't be the worst thing. Being locked away from her wolf. Hurt. But to collect the ingredients to undo the spell would take time. For her daughter she'd try. Try to hold out till all the mess of their family was fixed. Its what family did after all. Always and forever.

Notes:

So, I don't recall if Klaus ever daggered Elijah in canon. But for this fic, he has been.

Please comment below. Let me known what you think.

Chapter Text

*Eleven*

The moment to ride her of the hollow came three days later. With the ingrediants collected, she got down to work. The symbols all perfectly painted on the bedroom floor. Landon stood off to the side, breathing in the cool air through the doors of her balcony door. He watched, waited, then when she began chanting he moved five inches toward her. Watching as a bright blue glow surrounded the girl he loved.

The rest of the Mikaelson's stayed down stairs, all holding their breaths as they listened to her words. Caroline and Hayley both held onto Klaus, knowing that he could not resist in going to his daughter to ensure her safety and well being. But his worry was for naught as the hollow became a giant blue orb of energy, radiating freely as it dropped down into Landon. He schreeched at the unbearable pain as the blasted thing entered his body, even getting dizzy as he dropped to the floor. Eyes glowing that brilliant shade of phoenix red.

With the spell completed, the only thing left to do, was to kill. Something Landon quietly agreed to allow Klaus to do as he knew it would be hard on Hope to kill him for a second time. He knew having her tear his heart out would be a little to on the nose seeing as she stabbed a knife made of her blood the last time.

"How do you feel?" She whispered after a time. Though she knew it was pointless to ask, she did have the hollow lodged within her for four points of her life. Landon sucked in a labored breath, heading planted firmly on the wall of her bedroom.

"Tired. But okay. I'll feel better once this thing is gone." He responded second handedly. He smiled in her direction and she smiled back. Her forehead sweaty from magical exertion. The black veins that had been growing in her forearms, completely gone. Now, all that remained was to gather up the nazi vampires and kill them all. But this time, it would be Rebekah taking on Elijah's role. She would put on the facade that Elijah had secretly recruited her against all hybrids.

A little on the nose, but who better than her? Klaus was finally released and the others followed behind him to check on the young couple. They found them there on the floor, drained of energy and very much in need a good meal. As for Landon, he gave a subtle nod to his girlfriends dad giving him the all clear to kill him. Of course, they would wait until Hope was alseep. Till then, they would all just enjoy the moment knowing their legacy's future had been secured in the form of phoenix boyfriend.

So? What did you think?

Chapter 13: 13. Landon & Klaus

Chapter Text

*twelve*

Hope's chest rose and fell with every breath she took while slumbering on. Landon planted a gentle kiss to the top of her head, knowing that her father Klaus was standing there in the door way, scowl on his face. Hybrid eyes on display in front of him. He sure wasn't happy about there being a teenage boy in his daughter's bed. Landon knew whole heartedly, that if it were possible to wipe him from the face of the earth, he would've done so the minute Hope mentioned retiring for the night and bringing him along with her by the tug of the hand.

No time like present. Slipping off the mattress, Landon brushed past Klaus in the hall, making his way down the stairs, and out the front door, where Hayley, Caroline, Kol, Rebekah and Freya waited. Klaus, was close on his heel as he turned to face his future father in law. Emphesis on future. He knew, that thanks to douche bags like Roman, he's be trying even harder to win him over. He knew from stories that Hope told him previously just how paranoid he could get over the safety of his family. Hence why he dagger them, and put them in coffins for so many years.

"Lets get this over with." Landon says, eyes shining, happy to help out the love of his life and her family.

Kol snickered, as did Rebekah. They couldn't believe him to be so brave, or foolish as to command their older brother as he just did. Klaus, smirked. Please that he had the chance to do this. He lerched forward, hand stabbing through the boys chest, gripping at his beating heart as he yanked it out. The life he had left Landon's eyes, as he dropped dead at Klaus's feet. The rest of the Mikaelson's making their bets to how angry Hope will be over her father killing her newest lover boy.

Wiping the blood off on his pants, the others watched and waited. Minutes ticked on by, smoke, arriving first, then a full on blaze surrounded Landon, his body, seemingly reduced to ash and like a baby bird that breaks free of its egg, so did Landon, rising out of the ashes, free of harm, and more importantly, alive.

Freya, who watched for the most part, checked if the hollow was gone, by letting her magic flo freely around her family. Thankfully, the protection spell prevented the hollow from entering them or Hope ever again. They were safe. The entire Mikaelson family was safe thanks to one boy by the name of Landon Kirby.

Notes:

So, who loves the duo of Niklaus Mikaelson & Landon Kirby?

Next chapter will be the epilogue. But don't worry, I'm not quite finished yet. I have a sequel in mind, I just need to think it over first. I will and try to post again soon, but again, life comes first. Be that Depression or anything else.

Chapter 14: 14. Handon & Klaroline

We've reached the end. But don't worry, it is not the end.

Chapter Text

*Epilogue*

To say Hope was pissed at her father, pissed at Landon was an understatement. She could see the how and why, and admired her love for wanting to spare her the pain of watching him die, though temporary. So that morning over breakfast, she gave both a stern warning of not doing something like that again behind her back.

For the most part, they calmly discussed how they'd move forward together, things such as looking for Raf, as Landon wouldn't be without his foster brother. That, plus Caroline needed to depose Alaric from the school. Having being told everything about the man, what happened while she traveled, still disturbed. Klaus, agreed to join for the travel.

How would Lizzie learn to bully if not from her father who was biased against Hope's dad? He made a whole fuss ovee him killing Jenna, but didn't fuss much over Kai killing the twins mother Jo. It left a sinking feeling over the group, and, even Freya questioned if the man held any love for his daughters. Likely not if he was too busy gaslighting her neice than to spend time with them as the twins deserved.

Plans made, it was time to head back to the Salvatore school and take care of business. First starting with Landon inrolling. To make things fun, they decided to spin the lie of Klaus being the one to discover his phoenix abilities while he visited their in New Orleans with his daughter, and from that, a phone call to Caroline being made. Mentioning the whole time traveling business, plus Hayley nearly killed mattered not. Mikaelson's looked after their own family. A fact which Landon Kirby was now apart of Always & Forever.
