Pining. For Ghost life is easy. People are targets, not humans. They drop like chess pieces wherever he goes. He watches them. Life melting away like sand trickling through fingers. He never tried to be close to someone. Never cared for other people enough to feel bad about the blood trail he leaves behind. Never cared enough to feel.
But when he starts to watch John MacTavish his brain itches, interest sparks. And maybe it's okay to watch a little bit longer before his shot will take another one's life away.

He feels warm skin under the shirt radiate heat against the palm of his hand when he catches John as the target stumbles backwards. He can feel the air getting slowly pulled in through strong working lungs, feels the body vibrate under the tips of his fingers. For a moment, time stands still. Then Ghost pulls his hand away again.
“Careful,” he says in a low voice, pushing his cap deeper into his face as he turns away. “The floor seems to be wet.”
