Summary
Jack Kline would have once considered himself boring. He graduated at the top of his class, he volunteered at his church, he followed the rules...usually. Except the fake ID. The one that led to a drunken night, and ended with his kidnapping. He found himself as the mercy of a serial killer. His fractured mind remembers a monster, but his capturer was probably only a man...right? Now that he's out, he's trying to heal, and it's proving to be harder than he'd expected. After years of being forced to assume the identity of Marlon's dead wife, Jack has lost himself entirely.
The state has offered him resources. Housing. A kind therapist by the name of Sally Malik. A social worker, Aidan, who does his best to keep Jack's panic attacks at bay. Slowly, with their help, Jack is healing. He's not as scared as he used to be...until two detectives show up at his home. Agents Smith and Greer ask a lot of questions specific to vampires.
But vampires aren't real...everything he remembers about Marlon's fangs, and Josh - the Lycan he kept locked downstairs, was all imagined. Right?
