Work Text:

Your wonderful, affectionate, handsome, amazing, and loving husband, Gojo Satoru had been violently sick the past few days. It’s surprising to see how much an illness can affect the world’s strongest sorcerer. Even after one of his toughest fights, he looked better than this. It seemed like his cursed technique couldn’t do anything about a disease.

In the battle between Satoru and Influenza, the sorcerer was struggling. His skin was pale, hair sticking out in every direction, and ultimately, he was stuck in bed. His best friends through this trying time were the trash can on the floor on the side of his bed, the boxes of tissues taking up all the, and most importantly of all, you.

Using all the energy he had left, Satoru dedicated that to devotedly clinging to you.

He made it till 11pm without making contact with you on the first day he was sick. While you were laying on the couch, watching a movie, and slowly falling asleep, you were suddenly interrupted with a groggy “My wife…” as your husband standing in the entry way to the living room.

“Sweetheart, I’m dying.” He whined, and crawled on top of you, slightly squishing you with his body weight.

“You’re not dying, you’re sick and we have modern medicine.” You protested, slightly pushing him off of you, not too strong to hurt him but you weren’t in the mood for getting sick.

“My beautiful, strong, amazing, beautiful, perfect… did I say beautiful yet? My wife. I need you.” Satoru pouted as he grabbed both sides of your face, making eye contact with you through his tired, half-lidded eyes.

You appreciate his compliments, but you can only focus on the tiny bit of snot starting to drip out of his nose and it’s grossing you out.

“You’re going to get me sick, ‘Toru.” Your rebuttal seems a little weak as the pout on his face worsens in response.

“You can’t get sick, you got your flu shot like two months ago, you’re invincible. I need you, you’re the cure, please.” The puppy eyes on this man are dangerous. You open your mouth to say something, but you’re cut off with another “pleaseeeeeee.”

“You’re lucky I love you.” You say as you sit up, getting ready to walk the both of you back to your shared bed.

Satoru’s face lights up instantly, “I love you!” and he leans in to give you a kiss only to be stopped by your hand. “No kisses for the sick!” You declare but get up and grab his hand, leading him to the bedroom. “Now let’s get some sleep.”

Waking up the next morning, you faced the magnificent scene of sweaty Satoru, loudly mouth breathing in his sleep as one his arms was wrapped around your waist. As a jujutsu sorcerer, you’ve built up a tolerance for all kinds of nasty, and compared to everything you’ve faced in your life, this is extremely mild.

Even though you love the man more than anything and feel so bad that he is as sick as he is, the thick, glistening layer of sweat dripping down his forehead and the smell attached to it is more than you can take at the moment.

Before another second can pass, you find yourself gagging at the scene, it was disgusting. For a brief moment, you’re surprised by the fact that symptoms of the flu are making you nauseous, despite all freakish cursed spirits you’ve ever battled. You didn’t have that much time to think about it before you were gagging again, but you’re not sure you can hold back this one.

Frantically, you smack Satoru in the face, not enough to hurt him but to wake him up. Suddenly, he was awake and completely disoriented, “Huh- “

“Bucket!” You exclaim, giving him another smack on his arm and he looks up to see your face pale, ready to throw up. His eyes open in shock, fully aware of what was going on now. “Bucket!” You say again and he reaches over to quickly grab the trash can on his side of the bed and to bring it over to you.

Immediately you were emptying out the bile from your stomach into the empty trash can. Throwing up was worse when there was nothing to get rid of in the first place. Satoru places a comforting hand behind your back and holds your hair out of the way. He didn’t last very long before the sound of you being sick started to make him queasy.

“Babe I’m- “ He pauses, gagging, “Babe I’m really sorry. I’m gonna-“ Satoru doesn’t finish his sentence as he quickly gets out of bed, running to the bathroom to throw up in the toilet.

It was an amazing start to the day.

After the two of you had recovered, you were back in bed, your husband’s arms tightly wrapped around you, and his chin resting on your shoulder.

“I’m sorry for getting you sick.” He said, feeling guilty. Him being sick was never an issue, sure he would complain, but he would endure it and be fine, but the last thing Satoru wanted was you to suffer in any kind of way, especially if it was because of him. “It’s my fault.”

His apology made you think, sure you threw up, but you didn’t have the other symptoms he did. No fever, no coughing or sneezing, your color had come back to your face after recovering from your nausea. You’ve been in great health for a while now, you haven’t had bad period cramps recently.

The realization suddenly hit you. It had been a couple months since you and Satoru had that conversation about starting your family and you stopped taking your birth control. You needed to take a test and see what was going on. But before you embark on a mission to the nearest convenience store, your man came first.

It would be hard to miss the sincerity in his voice with his apology and you shifted around in bed to face him, giving him a swift kiss on the cheek, despite your no kisses rule.

“Don’t worry about it.” You said with a soft smile, trying to cheer him up.

“If you say so.” Satoru replies as he reaches his hand to your face, his thumb brushing your cheek affectionately.

You lean into his touch, before begrudgingly getting up out of bed.

“I need to go to the store; do you need anything?” You asked, shuffling through your dresser to find something to wear rather than your pajamas.

“Hey!” Quickly sitting up in bed, Satoru’s head started to spin a little bit, but he continued with his objection, “Are we ignoring the barf party we just had? If you need something, I’ll get it for you.” His grand declaration was followed by a loud sniffle to stop the snot from leaving his nose.

“Okay hot stuff,” You say, turning around to face him. There was no good reason to make Satoru get out of bed, he really needed his rest, “I appreciate it but I’m really doing better. Just look at me.” You debated telling him about your suspicions of being pregnant because you didn’t want to get his hopes up if you weren’t.

“I’m pretty sure I don’t have the flu.” You admit and the confusion on Satoru’s face was visible. “I think…” You’re not sure why you can’t get the words out, but you make yourself say it, communication has always been important between you and your husband. “I think I might be pregnant.”

“Really?” Joy was seeping into Satoru’s voice, just the possibility of you being pregnant was amazing to him.

“Don’t get too excited yet!” You protest, “I still have to take a test and I don’t want you to be disappointed if it’s false.”

“Well, let’s not wait for my hopes to get any more up.” His… unique word choice really reflected the fact that he was sick. You watched as he formed his hand signs to teleport and as you opened your mouth to advise him that teleporting while being this sick wasn’t the best idea, he was gone.

With a sigh of defeat, you put the change of clothes you were going to wear back in the dresser. You were more than happy to stay in today.

A couple minutes later, Satoru suddenly appeared in your room again, but he stumbled on his landing. Normally teleporting was as simple as breathing, but this time it was really tiring him out. He’ll secretly admit that you were right, like you typically are.

Your husband’s mission was successful though, with a pregnancy test and a box of his favorite candies in a plastic band in hand.

“No time like the present.” He reached to scratch the back of his neck in embarrassment, suddenly realizing how eager he was. “If you want to.” He quickly adds.

You hide a laugh, admiring just how excited he was to find out the result. “I’m down.” You say, reaching in the bag and taking out the pregnancy test.

Going to the bathroom, you sat down on the toilet, looking at the instructions for how to use the test. Looking up from the box, you find yourself making eye contact with Satoru, and you could feel the awkward silence.

“Hi.” He says, giving you a sweet, dorky smile.

“Hi.” You respond, and the two of you start laughing, realizing just how awkward you were both being without any reason.

“Okay,” You continue, “I have to actually take this test now.”

“Need any help?” Satoru says, with an overdramatic wink.

“I didn’t think you had a piss kink.” You poke a small jab in good nature.

“Oh definitely!” He responds, joking along with you.

You playfully roll your eyes and before long, the two of you are standing at the counter, waiting to see how many lines will show up on the tiny piece of plastic.

Watching the timer on your husbands, it made you feel a little nauseous. It was freaking you out, not knowing if you were pregnant or not, but you didn’t know which one you wanted to be.

“I need to sit down ‘Toru.” You said, turning around you put the lid down on the toilet and take a seat. Satoru’s face immediately turned into a look of worry seeing you upset. He completely disregards the test and gives all his attention to you.

“Are you okay?” He asks, reaching for your hand to comfort you.

“I just…” You avert your gaze to the side, “I don’t know.” With your confession, you look him in the eyes and continue, “I don’t know if I’d be a good mom. I get really excited about having a baby, but what if I mess it all up?” Tears prick the corner of your eyes, trying your best to not let them fall.

Satoru’s hand reaches up to your face to caress your cheeks, “That’s the last thing you’ll have to worry about. You’ll love our baby, right?” He asks and you give a slight nod in response, “Well that’s all that matters,” He smiles, your response making him happy, “if you love our baby, we’ll both do a great job raising it.”

“Step number one,” You begin, and rub the tears from your eyes, “We have to stop calling our hypothetic baby an it.” You smile at your own joke, trying to lighten up the mood and your husband smiles back.

The alarm on the two-minute timer goes off, meaning the results of the pregnancy test were ready. You were anxious to know if you were pregnant or not, and so was Satoru.

“Ready?” He gives your hand a squeeze and the two of you stand up as he turns the alarm off on his phone. You nod and reach for the test sitting on the counter. Taking a deep breath, you turn it around revealing two prominent stripes. You stare at it for a moment, not showing emotion and Satoru turns to wait for your reaction.

“I’m pregnant.” You state and your husbands rubs his thumb over the back of your hand, “I’m pregnant.” You say again and turn to look at him, a smile beaming across your face.

“You’re pregnant!” He exclaims and leans in to give you a kiss, breaking the no kisses rule for the second time today.

“We’re going to have a baby!” You say, excited for the future.

“We’re going to be parents!” His own excitement was growing with yours. He begins to pepper your face with kisses, pulling you into an embrace and you laugh, basking in the affection. Satoru begins to laugh and pulls away from you, then gives his attention to your stomach.

“Hi baby!” His hands go to your abdomen to caress your stomach.

You giggle at the touch, “That tickles ‘Toru!” You say and he uses your words as motivation to pester you more, pressing a kiss you your stomach.

Giving into his antics you place your hand over your womb. In the world you live in, magic was normal, but it was still so freaky to know you were growing a life. Despite that fact, you were in bliss because it was your baby. You and Satoru’s baby.

“Hi baby.” Your words were so sweet, and it made Satoru’s heart melt as he looked up at you lovingly, excited for what the future held.

To make the moment perfect, your husband broke out into a coughing fit. For a moment you forgot about him being sick.

“Sorry!” He says, standing up to be face to face with you again.

“Don’t worry about it.” You say and reach to hold his hand. “It’s impossible for this not to be one of the best days ever. Even with the barf party.” You add and give him a small poke in the side.

“Now let’s get back to bed, I think we both need the rest.”
