Allister doesn’t like people very much. That’s something pretty widely known– he far prefers the company of his Pokemon.
The pokemon don’t poke and prod, aside from the odd kind hearted trickery. They don’t hound him for statements about the new challengers or his fellow gym leaders. They’re good to him, they treat him with a tender gentleness he appreciates deeply. Mimikyu settles at his side quietly, allowing him to fiddle with his costume. Gengar puts on his own little shows alongside Dusknoir– they spin and dance, elegant despite their sizes.
Even without speaking a word, it’s clear what they mean. They care about him, they’re there for him no matter what. Whenever he’s feeling down in the dumps, they’re willing to do what they can to assist him through his woes.
It all brings a smile to his face, hidden behind his mask.
Yes, his Pokemon are much nicer company than people.
