Summary
“Does the floating take up more…. force power?” Din asks, as he watches Skywalker meditate, hovering over the floor of the shuttle they find themselves in, “-‘Cause I can turn off the gravity systems if you want.”
Skywalker opens one eye to look at him, mid-air.
“I can’t tell if that’s a joke or not.”
“I’d never joke about the force.” Din says, seriously. “-mostly because I don’t understand it.”
Skywalker snorts to himself, even though it truly wasn’t a joke.
He stops meditating, fluidly getting his legs under him without floating back to the floor.
“The Force doesn’t work like that.” He says, “-dunno know whether I should try to explain it.”
Din shrugs.
“Up to you. I wouldn’t understand any of it, probably. But. It’s not like my schedule is full.”
Skywalker snorts again.
“Well, according to the computer, I have about a week or so to explain it to you, so, a bit of a time crunch.”

After a mission gone sour, Din finds himself stranded on the edge of space with no hope of a rescue. If the prospect of slowly dying alone with Luke Skywalker wasn’t enough, there’s also the little fact that Din happens to be in love with him. It’s a long story.
