- Lana’s ace is her darling Primarina, who she evolved from a Popplio after rescuing him from some children bullying him on a beachside. This incident spurred her interests in Pokémon and environmental activism, which led her to some questionable places.
- Those questionable places being Team Aqua. She joined the organization in her early teenage years, out of her desire to see Water-type Pokémon, and all types of Pokémon, be treated to proper habitats and protection from human cruelty.
- She wasn’t present for the events surrounding Kyogre, nor was she aware how deep that rabbit hole went. Unfortunately, her reputation became tangled with them, but she considers them family and supports their post-reformation efforts in environmental protection. She’ll take up for their modern cause to this day without shame.
- She calls Archie her “Uncle Archie,” as a lot of Team Aqua members do.
- Despite her associations, Alola still saw fit to make her a Trial Captain for her righteous heart and harmony with nature and the seas. A job she took very seriously.
- In addition, she’s raised a variety of other Water-types, including her beloved Araquanid, who became enamored with her after mistaking her for being another Dewpider due to Popplio’s bubble. He initially lost interest in her companionship after the illusion was broken, but he found himself stranded after following her, and attempted to find a new home. She encouraged him to secure a pond near her home as his own after another Pokémon competed with him for it, forcing him to recognize that Lana was a friend, regardless of her kind or appearance. He took the pond as his new home, though he was willingly caught by Lana in a Net Ball, and became a vital member of her team.
- Lana caught Sandy, an Eevee who drifted in mysteriously from the sea. He eventually chose to evolve into a Vaporeon, maintaining his candid and friendly personality.
- She also has a Lanturn and Cloyster, who aided her during her time as Captain.
- She's close friends with two of the other Trial Captains, Kiawe and Mallow, and has been since childhood. They're quite used to her lies and pranks, so when she boasts something she's done legitimately, they're quick to doubt her.
- She sees the Kahuna, Olivia as an inspiration, despite her being only a few years older than the trio, and often takes her counsel for advice. Though, she's also quick to criticize her capricious ways.
- In her spare time, she helps out with her father's fishing business to help her parents support her two younger sisters, Sarah and Harper. During her time as Captain, she dreams to one day explore the wider seas.
