Chapter 1 The new kits

I don't own Pokemon or Warriors. This is just a crazy idea I had.

"Professor Oak, we can't seem to find Delia or her son Ash anywhere." said the Officer Jenny to the wise Pokemon professor. Professor Oak slumped in his chair next to his computer. His friend and neighbor, Delia, had gone missing a week ago, along with her son Ash.

"Ash Ketchum" thought Professor Oak "So young, and just about to start his Pokemon journey." he sighed as he looked over to a desk with a photo of Ash and Delia. The circumstances of their disappearance where baffling. No sign of human or Pokemon attack, no sign of a break in, nothing. They seemingly just...vanished. "Thank you, Officer Jenny. I'll tell Gary."

"Lionheart, I can feel the kit coming!" said Dapplenose, a brown cat with brown eyes, as Whitestorm watched. The white tom was swelling with pride as he watched his mate Dapplenose give birth to their fine kit. A kit! His own kit. He purred with joy as the top of the kit came, then the paws, then the rest. Spottedleaf cut the membrane, and she and Dapplenose started to clean the kit as Whitestorm placed his tail on Dapplenose's back.

"What should we name him?" asked Whitestorm to Dapplenose.

"His fur is dark grey. " she replied. "How about...Ashpaw?"

"It's perfect." said Whitestorm as he rubbed against his mate.

Pictures of Ash Ketchum and his mom, Misty Waterflower of the Cerulen Gym, and Brock Harrison of the Pewter City Gym's flashed across Oak's TV screen. It had been three weeks since the four had gone missing. Nothing made since. These four had, as far as Oak had known, never met each other. They where strangers, and that made it all the more terrifying to the Kanto population. Talks of a serial kidnapper, or worse, a serial murderer, had gripped the region. The League had even announced that all Pokemon Trainers out and about on journeys must report in daily, either in person or by the phone app on their Pokedex, to the nearest city. Oak himself had made a radio announcemnt on WPOK that he would make sure that the upcoming Trainers he would send out, Gary, Leaf, and Blue, would be properly warned about potential danger.
"This sort of thing has never happen. Not even during the last war." Oak mused as he fed the new starters. A Bulbasaur, a Charmender, and a Squirtle, all cute and young. He couldn't help think of what Pokemon Ash would have gotten. That boy sure had loved Pokemon. Both he and his grandson Gary had been ecstatic to start their journeys. Now Ash was gone, and Gary (who had recently been getting a snobby streak) was nearly inconsolable. He would hardly eat and talk now. Even though he had become meaner to Ash ("That is what rivals do, Grandpa!"), the Professor knew his grandson really was best friends with Ash.

"Oh where could the be?"

"Ashkit, Badgerkit, Mistkit, Greykit, Sandkit, Ravenkit, and Dustkit, you have all reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you seven will be known as, Ashpaw, Badgerpaw, Mistpaw, Greypaw, Sandpaw, Ravenpaw, and Dustpaw." mewed Bluestar from her place on top Highrock, her blue-grey fur moving a little in the slight breeze.

"Ashpaw, Badgerpaw, Mistpaw, Greypaw, Sandpaw, Ravenpaw, Dustpaw!" their names being said in chorus by the clan. Ashpaw was excited. Finally, after a whole twelve moons, he and the rest of the kits his age where becoming apprentices. Now they could learn to hunt and how to protect the clan. This though alone made Ashpaw puff out his chest as he sat their listening to Bluestar as she started to name to Warriors who would be the mentors.

"Whitestorm, you are ready to take on an apprentice." said Bluestar to the snowy white tom cat. "You have received excellent training from Patchpelt, and you have shown yourself to be wise and kind. You will be the mentor of Sandpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Sandpaw." Whitstorm dipped his head to his leader, and then turned to pale-ginger cat and touched his nose to hers. Then Bluestar turned to Runningwind.

"Runningwind, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Bluestar, and you have shown yourself to be swiftness and bravery. You will be the mentor of Ashpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Ashpaw." said Bluestar.
Runningwind dipped his head, then turned to Ashpaw and touched his nose. Ashpaw looked up to his new mentor is excitement. "I'm an official Thunderclan apprentice!" he though with glee.

The ceremony continued, with Badgerpaw getting Willowpelt, Mistpaw getting Mousefur, Greypaw getting Ashpaw's father Lionheart, and Dustpaw getting Redtail, the deputy. "May Starclan guide the paths of these new apprentices." finished Bluestar. Then she jumped down off of Highrock.
"Ashpaw, comeover here!" purred Greypaw. Ashpaw looked to his right to see they other grey furred apprentice standing next to Badgerpaw, as dark bown furred kitten with white stripe running down the middle of his face. Ashpaw padded over as the other apprentices came too.

"We did it! We are apprentices." said Ashpaw excitedly, his dark grey tail quivering.

"Of course we are! Well, maybe not of course for you" snickered Sandpaw. "After your little travel out of the camp last moon, I'm surprised you still where made one."

"Hey, I was excited!" replied Ashpaw.

"Too excited sometimes" mewed the other female kitten, Mistpaw. She was an solid orange cat with greenish eyes. Said eyes were looking at Ashpaw with amusement.

"What else would I feel?" asked Ashpaw.

"Oh Ashpaw." sighed Mistpaw as she flicked her solid orange tail. She worried about Ashpaw."You can be such a fuzz-brain sometimes."

"Hey, I least I don't like water like a Riverclan cat!" replied Ashpaw.

"Calm down, you two." mewed Badgerpaw.  "Anyways, want to go eat something?"

"Sure! I see some mice" said Greypaw as he headed over to the freshkill pile, the other apprentices following suit. Soon the seven young cats where eating and talking, happy as could be.

Later in the night, Runningwing and Lionheart decided to take Ashpaw and Greypaw out for their first night patrol of the territory. With them was also Bluestar, as she wanted to check on the borders. Ashpaw and Greypaw followed their mentors as they headed in the way of the human town, the last bit of sun shining in the distance as the moon shown bright in the sky.

"What if we see a kittypet, or a twoleg?" Greypaw asked Ashpaw

"If we meet kittypet, we fight." Said Ashpaw."As for stinking Twolegs, they won't be out I bet. I heard from Smallear that thy have terrible night vision."

"That is correct Ashpaw." said Lionheart as he came to a stop next to a log. "Alright you two you smell that? That is our Thunderclan scent markers. They make up our border between the other clans and the town. Your first experience as apprentices is to see how well you can follow the border."

"By ourselves?" ask Greypaw.

"Yep! Don't worry, we well be watching you from a distance. Alright, go ahead." said Runningwind. The two kittens looked at each other, then headed off, following the scent of the border as they headed south from the Snakerocks through the Tallpines. After awhile, Greypaw and Ashpaw split up, still headed south. Ashpaw was full of energy, ready to make a good impression for Runningwind. He stopped and sat down on his haunches to take in the scents, his grey ears flicking as he listened to the sounds of the forest. He was just about to keep moving when he heard a cat's yowl from his left. Turning sharply, he leaped to his paws and raced to see what was going on. "That sounded like Grewpaw!" When he found the young kitten in a small clearing with short grass, he noticed that Greypaw was facing an orange cat with tabby stripes and green eyes. Then Ashpaw noticed a blue collar around his neck with a bell that was reflecting the moon light. "A kittypet!" he thought.

"Oh, hello Ashpaw!"said Greypaw as he turned around. "I just met this kittypet named Rusty. He fights pretty well, for a kittypet. Rusty, this is Ashpaw, another Thunderclan apprentice."

"Um, hello!" said Ashpaw.

"Hello Ashpaw" replied the orange cat. He was breathing heavily, along with Greypaw. Both must have fought well.

"Nice to meet you. But Greypaw, he better go, right?" asked Ashpaw.

"Oh, you're right Ashpaw. Rusty, you need to go before our mentors and leaders come. They are much stronger than us, and they won't like haveing a kittypet here taking our prey."

"Its too late for that" came a voice from behind Ashpaw. Spinning around, the young grey cat saw the Runningwind, Lionheart, and Bluestar coming out from behind a tree and padding toward them. Bluestar continued "Well, young Rusty, was it? You fight well a kittypet. And well down Greypaw for your first fight."

"Thanks Bluestar." replied Greypaw, beaming.

Turing back to the kittypet, Bluestar continued as Ashpaw watched. "However, coming into our territory and stealing our prey is no allowed."

"Why not?" asked Firepaw "It's just one little mouse."

Bluestar's eyes narrow fiercely. "ONE MOUSE?" she hissed. "One mouse might be all that the clan gets in one day while your Twolegs feed you from bowls without fail. You get fat and lazy while we fight for our food."

Bowing his head is in an apology, Rusty replied, "I'm sorry, I did now know." Then lifting his head and giving Bluestar a puzzled look, he asked "Twolegs?"

"It is an insult we give to humans, the vile things." She replied "And your apology is accepted. What is your name?"

"My name is Rusty."

"Thunderclan could use a good apprentice like you." mused Bluestar "In fact...how would you like to join Thunderclan?"

"Bluestar! Kittypets can't be warriors!" Greypaw exclaimed.

"That's just cause he beat you." Ashpaw snickered.

"He did not! You didn't even see!" hissed Greypaw.

"Quite you two." Bluestar flicked her tail as she continued to stare at Rusty. "Rusty, if you join, you will have to leave your soft life, but you will learn to fight for yourself, you will learn be apart of something bigger than you, you will learn to be a warrior. You will be free."

Ashpaw felt that word, freedom. He could not imagine being controlled by someone else. He was free.

Ashpaw was excited but tired as he carried Cinderkit in his mouth. He, Firepaw, Greypaw, and Mistpaw had been in the Shadowclan camp rescuing the kits from claws of Brokenstar. It had been a hard fought battle, and as soon as he got back to camp, he returned Cinderkit to the nursery and joined the apprentices in the apprentice den, ready to sleep. As he fell asleep, Ashpaw thought of all that had happened, such as his first gathering, Ravenpaw telling them that Tigerclaw was evil, and the battle to save the kits. He and the other apprentices had become fast friend with Firepaw, even though Sandpaw and Dustpaw started out being hostile (and Sandpaw was still snarky to him) He was glad to have so many friend among his clan mates. But something just felt off. He could not quite put a paw on it, but recently he had been having strange dreams. Dreams of fleeting images of a creature covered in pink fur flying by quickly. It looked kinda like a cat, but it was flying. Ashpaw had no idea what of make of these images, and he wondered if he would see them again in tonight's dreams

The dream started again. He was in a forest, and above him was both the sun and moon. Looking around for the pink cat, he caught a glimpse of it as it raced trough the trees. "Wait!" he called "Who are you?"

Suddenly, the pink cat stopped, the disappeared, only to reappear right in front of Ashpaw, floating is the air. Ashpaw eyes widened in shock and he instinctively arched his back.

"Hey, now need for that, my young Ashpaw! Or should I say, Ash Ketchum!" said the pink cat Ash hissed. "I'm Mew, and I'm here to fix things."

Professor Oak was not happy. The lights is part of his house had gone out and he didn't know why, plus he had been right in the middle of feeding some of the trainers Pokemon. Opening the white door to his basement, he turned on his flashlight and headed down the steps to see if the circuit breaker had blown. When he got to the bottom of the stairs, however, he heard a noise. It sound like...chewing. Yes, that was is chewing from above. Swinging his flashlight up to the floor joists, he saw a Pikachu chewing at some wires for electricity. Recognizing it was not one of his or other trainers, he pulled out a Pokeball out of his pocket, aimed, and threw the ball before the Pikachu realized what happed. The ball hit true, opened, and the Pikachu was caught.

"Well, now I'm going to have to call the electrician!"

"Now to get everyone here." said the cat creature call Mew. With a wave of it's right paw, Ashpaw was suddenly joined by Badgerpaw, Mistpaw, Greypaw, Dustpaw, Sandpaw, and the recently rescued Cinderkit.

"What the...am I dreaming? asked Mistpaw. "Where are we?"

"Ashpaw, have I've been kitnapped again?" asked a scared Cinderkit as she crouched down and wrapped her tail around her paws.

"Don't worry Cinderkit, I'm here." said Badgerpaw as he rushed over to the kit and licked her.

"Hello Thunderclan apprentices and kit!" said Mew with a giggle. All six cats who were not Ashpaw turned to look up at the pink cat, who was waving a paw at them. "I am Mew, and I have an announcement!"

"Announcement? What do you mean, announcement, and what in the name of Star Clan are you?" asked Sandpaw, squinting her eyes.

"Good question! Drum roll please!" said Mew, who then went to the nearest tree and started knocking on it. Coming back, it continued "I'm a Pokemon!"

"A...pokmon?" asked Greypaw, who looked very confused.

"No silly. A Pokemon!" said the Mew as it did a loop in the air. "I'm from another world!"

"What's a world?" asked Ashpaw as he tiled his head.

"You don't know what a world is? Well, let me show you!" said the Mew again, giggling. With another wave of its paw, the forest the where in vanished, and instead they where surrounded by blackness with their paws no longer touching the ground.

"Help, I'm going to fall!" yelled Greypaw, kicking his four legs.

"Don't worry, you're fine! Anyways, look down!" Said Mew. The seven kittens looked down and 14 eyes went wide. There below them was a big round object. It was blue and brown, and had white stuff covering parts of it. The white stuff looked familiar...

"Hey, are those clouds?" asked Badgerpaw.

"You got it! Those are indeed clouds. What you are looking at is the world you live on. It is a big ball of rock and water floating in space with everything else."

"What's space?" asked Ashpaw

"And how big is big?" asked the now curious Dustpaw.

"To answer the first question, space is where all the stars and sun are that you see at night. As for how big, many, many times bigger then your territory." said Mew, spreading out it's small arms to convey big. "Anyways, now down to the matter at hand. This is your world. I am from a different world. A world inhabited by creatures called Pokemon. We come in many shapes and sizes and colors. And humans, or Twolegs as you call them as an insult,  and Pokemon travel and train to become the very best. Ashpaw, Mistpaw, and Badgerpaw? You three" said Mew as it pointed to the three named young cats. "are from my world. And you are human"

Mistpaw immediately let out a yowl of annoyance. "What kind of mousebrain talk is this? I got to sleep, wake up in dream with a weird pink cat, and now it tells me I'm a Twoleg from another so called world?"

"Yup!" replied the Mew, accompanied with excited nodding of it's head up and down.

"Foxdung!" said Mistpaw and Sandpaw at the same time.

"Hey, no need for that kind of language." replied Mew as he stuck out his tongue and crossed his arms.

"There is no way I would be a stupid twoleg!" exclaimed Ash. "It's a load of foxdung!"

"Looks like I will have to help you remember your past!" with that, the Mew flew over to the three cats and touched them on the head, accompanied by a pink glow. As soon as it was done, the three cats fell over on their sides, and fell onto the ground as the view of the world was replaced with the forest again.

"You, you killed them!" yelled Firepaw. He arched his back, unsheathed his claws, and was about to pounce when the Mew spoke again.

"Calm down, Firepaw! But I commend you on your loyalty to your clan. Don't worry, they are not dead, just getting some of their memories back. Oh, here they are waking up now." Firepaw looked over to the three cats, and saw them slowly stir. Ashpaw then opened his eyes and said in a hushed voice. "Ash, Ketchum? It that supposed to be a name?"

"You have them too?" asked Badgerpaw as he also slowly got up. "I'm Brock, but I'm also Badgerpaw. My father is... supposedly named Flint, but also Fuzzypelt."

"Mew, what did you do to us?" yowled Mistpaw as she sat up, glaring at the pink cat. "Why do I have the name Violet, Daisy, and Lily in my head?"

"I've unlocked your human memories. All three of you, plus your mom, Ashpaw, where humans in my world. However, in a brief moment of crazy, something happened, and your souls left my world into this new one you inhabit. For another unknown reason, you four where turned into cats, and the three of you where even born as cats."

"Wait, you where really Twolegs?" asked Dustpaw sounding a little perturbed.

"I, I don't know. It's so weird. I can remember my life as a Thunderclan cat, but now there are some memories this world with creatures named Pokemon. I think they came in all shapes and sizes." said Ashpaw as he shook his head. "But that's all."

"It's lies!" Mistpaw hissed. "You want us to believe that we used to be twolegs when all you did was make us remember some random names and what Pokemon are?"

All the cats turned to look at Mew. "You know, she has a point. Are the names supposed to be our names? Because if that's it, that is now proof that we were twolegs." mewed Badgerpaw.

"You don't have any memories of you being human? Darn. Well, memories were always a Uxie thing" muttered Mew. "They should come eventually. But Ash..."

"My name is Ashpaw"

"Ashpaw, in my world you are still needed. What happened here was not supposed to happen, and if you, Mistpaw, and Badgerpaw don't come back to your world, terrible calamities will happen."

"What, and leave my clan!?" asked Ashpaw, startled. "I'm a Thunderclan apprentice!!!!"

"You are not of this world" said the Mew.

"You keep saying that, but the only 'proof' you have is some names and so called memories of what Pokemon are." hissed Mistpaw.

"Yeah, what she said" Ashpaw growled.

"Everyone, let's go. This Mew is crazy." exclaimed Badgerpaw as he turned and padded over to his brother, giving him a lick. "Flint indeed."

"Wait, I'm telling the truth!" said the Mew, panic rising in his voice.

"Goodbye, you mouse-brained flying cat." yelled Greypaw over his shoulder as the apprentices and one kit walked away.

"You can't go! Here, I'll prove it. I'll take you there now." The clan cats turned back to the floating Mew.

"Take us were?" asked Firepaw.

"To my world, the one that needs saving."

"How?"

"Like this." and with a that Mew made a noise with two of his stubby fingers, and a bright white light enveloped the cats. "Also, look for Professor Oak......"

Ashpaw had closed his eyes at the blinding light. After a while, he opened them again to find himself outside a white human nest bathed in the light of a full moon. "or...house?" he though as a so called memory came to him. It was a nice place, he thought. Maybe, he really didn't look at twoleg or "human" nests much. He turned his head he saw that he was standing on grass, which for some reason was up to his chest. The grass he had seen around twoleg "houses" was always short. Also with him was Badgerpaw, Mistpaw, Firepaw, Greypaw, Sandpaw, Dustpaw, Cinderkit, and surprisingly, his mother, Dapplenose. "Mom" he called as he bounded over to her.

"Ashpaw? Oh Ashpaw it's you!" the auburn cat mewed as she rubbed her head on his shoulder. "I had this unusual dream, and a pink cat called Mew said I was from it's world, and a human! It sound so mousebrained!" she mewed in amazement as she turned to look at the white house.

"Yeah mom, and I'm supposedly going on a Pokemon journey!" replied Ashpaw. "Not even sure what that is."

"Ashpaw, this is just so weird." said Mistpaw as she padded over to them with the other cats. "We are really in another, what did that Mew call it? World?"

"Yeah, something like that." Firepaw stretched as he replied.

"Looks more open than the twoleg place near the clan boundaries" said Badgerpaw contemplatively.

"So, this is your world?" asked Greypaw looking around.

"Who knows? I Ashpaw.

"I know what you mean. I, I still don't believe it myself." said his mom, licking him on the ear.

"What do we do now that we are here?" asked Dustpaw, narrowing his eyes as he looked around distrustfully.

"What was the last think the floating cat told us to do?" asked Mistpaw.

"Look for Professor Oak." repplied Greypaw as he tilted his head. "What's a Professor?"

"I guess some kind of oak tree." mused Badgerpaw.

"Well, I'm still tired, so let's look for the special tree after I sleep!" and with that Ashpaw spread out on the ground and instantly was fast asleep.

It was nearly Sunhigh when the cats woke up and stretched. Hungry, they found some bugs near a rock next to a white fence, then headed out of the area in front of the twoleg house and down the wide path.

"So, which of these trees is the "professor" oak?" Ashpaw looked from side to side as he sniffed the air after they had walked a ways away.

"I don't even know what a professor is." replied Duspaw. "Have any of your fake memories told you yet?"

"No." grumbled Mistpaw. "This is stupid. Where in all of Silverpelt would we even start?"

"Maybe......"

"Wait" Dapplenose quietly hissed suddenly. "We are being watched." The muddy colored warrior immediately opened her mouth to check the scent. "There is something in the medium sized bush to our right, about two fox-lengths away." She then licked her right front paw a few times, and walked a fox length away in the general direction of the bush along the dirt path, though not directly toward it. Then, with out warning, the experienced warrior got into a battle crouch and lept into the bush with a snarl.

"Augh!" came a voice as the bush shook violently. The apprentices and one kit watched as a huge bird tumbled out of the bush with Dapplenose jaw clamped down on it's tail feathers. "Let go of me!" it yelled.

"Is...is that talking bird?" asked Firepaw.

"Yup." replied Greypaw. "A big taking bird."

"I said let go of me!" said bird yelled again as it thrashed. Yet Dapplenose held firm until the bird stopped. "Find, fine, I surrender!"

"Mom, are you Okay?" asked Ashpaw.

"Of course! Wouldn't be much of a warrior if a bird could overpower me." Daplenose then turned back to the bird as it remained still there on the path. She walked over and leaned over its face. "Why were you spying on us from a bush?"

"I'm sorry! I just had never see a group of Pokemon like you before, so I curious." the bird said.

"Pokemon? We aren't Pokemon." sniffed Dapplenose.

"You.....are not Pokemon?" the bird turned it's head in the dirt. "But you have to be! You certainly aren't human!"

"Are you a Pokemon?" asked Cinderkit as she walked up besides Daplenose.

"Well, duh! Of course I am!" said the bird. "You look young, but surly you have seen a Pidgey before."

"No."

"What, just got off the boat from Galar or something?"asked the Pidgey.

"No, we are just....from another world." Dapplenose said with a slight hesitation.

"....huh?"

"Yes, we are from another world and we are looking for a thing named Prof. Oak."

"Well, that seems unlikely." the Pidgey looked at them in disbelief.

"We really are!" exclaimed Sandpaw. The bird gave them a hard look.

"Alright, I'll humor you 'alien creatures.'  Professor Oak is that way," the bird pointed in the direction they were headed. "Follow this path till you come to a hill that has a house with a windmill on top. That's his place."

"What's a windmill?" asked Cinderkit.

"You don't.....well, it's a big still with blades on top that spin. You'll know it when you see it."

"Thanks!" mewed the kit as Dapplenose finally let go of the bird. Said bird got up on his claws and shook his tail to get any dirt out.

"Well, you are tough, I'll give you that. Goodbye" with that he flew up into the air, the circles around as he yelled "One more thing, the Professor is human!"

"Wait, what?" asked Ashpaw, but the bird had flown away.

"He is a stupid human?" asked Greypaw.

"Mousedung, I hate Twolegs." grumbled Dustpaw.

The cats then headed down the right path till them came to a grass covered hill with a human building on top and what everyone assumed was the windmill, it's 'blades' spinning around. The cats slipped through the holes in the gate, and climbed some hard stones. Once the reached the top, the looked around and were lost at what to do.

"How does a cat get the attention of a stupid twoleg in their nest?" asked Dustpaw as he motioned with his tail to the door in front of them.

"Well, I would scratch on the door." said Firepaw. The orange cat walked to the door and scratched. Nothing happened.

"Maybe he can't here us?" mused Mistpaw. "What if we yowled?"

"Sound like a plan!" The group of Thunderclan cats then yolwed and hissed as loud as the could.

Oak was starting to have a lunch spaghetti. After the busy morning sending Gary and the other trainers off on their journeys (with a lengthy discussion about how not to be kidnapped), he was looking forward to a quite afternoon. As he made his lunch, he could not help thinking about Ash and Delia. Ash would have gone today with the others, but the police still had no leads on what happened to the four missing humans. "It's just too bad" he thought as he plated his spaghetti on to a white plate. Suddenly, he heard a noise outside, seemingly from the front of his lab. It didn't sound like Pokemon or humans. It almost sounded like...cats? Animals where extremely rare in the Pokemon world. Oak had only seen cats twice before, and the thought of seen actual cats again intrigued him. Putting the spaghetti down, he walked trough the living room to his front door to open it. As the door swung open, he was greeted by an odd sight. Eight cats of different colors and sizes where on his porch looking up at him.

"Hello there! What are you eight cats doing on my porch, and why are you making such a ruckus?" he asked. Of course, they would not respond, everyone knew that animals where not as intelligent as humans and Pokemon.

"Hello, are you Professor Oak?" asked the dark grey cat that was sitting at the front of the group.

It was all Professor Oak could do to not fall down in shock.
