Tsukasa: All the World's a Show!

Summary:

“Kasa…Tsukasa…!”

The sudden noise made him jolt awake, alone in a dark room with nothing but a mirror, with a weird reflection at that. Was this a dream? He couldn’t tell, he looked up only to be met with a familiar pair of amber eyes. What stood before him was… a version of himself? They looked alike, aside from clothing at least, He really didn’t know what was going on, along with a killer headache to boot. He was almost scared of what was in the mirror.

“...Who are you…? wait, where even am I…?” He looked around aimlessly, nothing he recognized in sight.

“Don’t be scared Tsukasa, there’s nothing to be afraid of here, promise.”

“Nothing to be scared of?? I’m in a pitch black space with someone I don’t know, are you ‘mirror me’ or something?”

“...’Mirror you’…? You know what, sure! That’s not a bad name, you can call me that for now.”

OR, I thought that Tsukasa as Furina was a cool and fun idea lol

WARNING: uhh if you couldn't tell, huge spoilers for the fontaine archon quest

Chapter 1: Let the show begin!

Chapter Text

Day one….

That’s not a bad name, you can call me that for now.” his mirror self said, though it did nothing to help his confusion, was he a mirror version of him or not?

“Okay, ‘mirror me’, w-what do you want to say?”

The mirror had a sad look in his eyes and he went on, “The prophecy of sekai… do you know it?”

Although he had never explicitly heard it, he still somehow remembered it.

“I think so… I don’t know why but it’s in my head for some reason, ‘the people will all be dissolved by the waters, leaving only the Hydro archon, weeping on his throne. Only then will the people’s sins of sekai be washed away.’ Is that it?”

The thought of it alone made him nervous. He held his breath for what was about to come next, he had a gut feeling it wouldn’t turn out well.

“Yeah. that’s it, so you do know it well, that’s good at least. As said, tragedy will come onto Sekai sooner or later, just as the prophecy says.”

Now Tsukasa was really nervous, “wait, wait, wait, hold on! Doesn’t that mean that everyone will die!? I’m a Sekaian just like them! Won’t I dissolve as well?”

The mirror gave him a soft smile before continuing, it didn’t make him feel any better so far.

“Hehe, no worries Tsukasa! Everything can be solved, after all, magical meetings like this exist for a reason, don’t they? That’s exactly the precise reason why you’re meeting me today! Listen closely alright, I’ll tell you how to save everyone in Sekai, but you’ll have to suffer a bit for it to work…”

Tsukasa felt himself calm down a bit, he was so thankful that things could get better. “So there’s still hope? Don’t scare me like that again! You spoke with so much certainty I felt like it would actually happen!” he paused for a second, “...For the suffering… Well, to be honest the first thing that I thought of was ‘why should I have to suffer?’ But if this prophecy will come true, then I’ll dissolve as well right? I mean, everyone's lives and happiness are on the line, if you compare that to mine, I think it’s obvious where the scales should tilt here.”

“Fantastic! You really are me, the ideal ‘me,’ truly a perfect human, I guess that means this is now the justice that belongs to you now…” His mirror self looked a lot brighter now.

“What does that mean…?”

“Don’t mind it, I was just talking to myself, hehe, anyways, listen up for a minute. The people of Sekai lost their hydro archon, their god of justice, Focalors. All I need is for you to play a role, that of the new archon, think of it like a sort of… Show.”

“You want me, a human, to play as a god…?” In truth, this confused him a lot. He was a regular person, how could he ever reach the level of a god?

“Correct! You’ll have to start a never ending show for everyone of Sekai, and you mustn't let anyone suspect your identity! If you can keep it up, I’ll be able to turn this prophecy around, but if even one person figures out who you are, then everything will be lost, you got that?”

.

Although he understood everything his mirror self said, a part of him still had some doubt,  “How will I do this anyways? A human acting as a god without being exposed is…”

“You’re over worrying a little bit, you don’t need to become a real god, all you need to do is to pretend you’re the god that the humans of Sekai want, and seeing as you’re one of them as well, I think you already would know what someone like that should be, I have the utmost faith in you that you can do this, remember, you’re not pursuing divinity, your real challenge is contending against humanity.”

“I still don’t really get it… but if it’s for the sake of the people, I’ll try my very best! One last question, how long will I be doing this show for?”

The mirror thought for a second, almost seeming like they didn’t entirely know the answer. “You’re going to stay on the stage for a very, very, long time, you won’t grow old until your mission is complete.”

“But I will promise you this Tsukasa.” he went on while reaching out, “One day, everything will end in a glamorous, fantastical trial! And everyone will be saved.”

“...A Trial… huh… Alright, I’ll be looking forward to it!”

.

.

.

Practically everyone had shown up to the opera house, it wasn’t every day that a new archon just showed up after all. Seas of people were everywhere, whispering among themselves, wondering when it’ll start. Everyone was waiting for him, for Tsukasa to start.

‘How should I start this… The Maison Cardinalice has already done the job of announcing my accession, but it’s still my first time talking to a crowd such as this… I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but what should I say to appear like a god? Maybe I should just act natural, it’s better if things come from the heart.’

“Mic check… Ahem, um… Good evening everyone! Welcome to the Theater Epiclese, I hope you’ve all been having a good day so far.”

All right, not a bad start, just speak clearly.’

“I’m sure you’ve all been told about how I’ve taken up the role of the hydro archon! Indeed, My name is Tsukasa Tenma of Sekai, or Tsukasa for short, your new archon. In truth, so far, I know nothing about becoming a new god, but it will be my honor to guide you all to an era of peace and justice! As -Focalors- the god of justice, I will do everything in my power to insure that our nation is led to an age of fairness for all! Again, thank you for all coming today. If you still have any doubts or suggestions, please send them to the Maison Cardinalice. The future of Sekai will require us to work through things together, after all.

‘Okay, that should be everything, I thought I might mix up my words but I said everything I wanted to… Alright, let’s move on-’

Tsukasa’s thoughts were interrupted by the people whispering among themselves again, although it wasn’t entirely clear, the words ‘fake’ or ‘joke’ flooded the room. Some people were more… assertive of their thoughts than others though.

“Is this supposed to be a joke? He seems so… childish, like he doesn’t even know what’s going on!”

“Aren’t gods all powerful-beings? You’d think someone with that power would be a little bit more assertive about it, they’re probably a phony!”

“Did you hear what he said? Suggestions? He’s supposed to guide us! Not the other way around!”

The courtroom became louder and Tsukasa felt the pressure on him, all eyes were judging him, if this kept up, he’d have no way of saving the prophecy! ‘Okay Tsukasa, think, think! They’re all suspecting me of being a fake, what do I do now… oh! That’s right, mirror me said that I only have to act as the god they want.’

‘Let’s see, what do they want… How would a god speak and act… Assertive, powerful! With a strong presence that lights up the room! A star who can dispel all worries and troubles within a fraction of a second! That’s the character that I’m playing…

.

.

.

Silence washed over the courtroom for a quick moment.

“HAHAHAHAHA! YOU ALL ARE TRULY WORTHY OF BEING IN MY PRESENCE! Only the best of the best, like you, are graced with my performance! Only people such as you will be so deserving of my AMAZING rule!!” He shouted out, shocking the whole audience, he quickly thought of a cover story before continuing.

“As your new ruler and your new star, I had to know, if some random person walked into the opera house pretending to be the new “Archon,” would the people of Sekai follow them? Well, luckily for all of you, you saw right past it! You all are commendable for passing my test, I shall give you honor of witnessing more fantastic trials with someone as grand as I! You may consider my first performance a gift to you all! This will be the first of many of my wonderful shows! I thought that the entrance suited the atmosphere.” he said proudly, showing a smile on his face.

The whole audience was very surprised by this change of tone from Tsukasa but they were very pleased to hear it.

“The whole thing earlier was a show? Oh! Of course! How could we have forgotten that we’re in a theater!”

“He’s kinda loud… At least it’s better than before”

“So bright and confident! Our futures may have plenty of hope after all!”

The whispers of doubt turned into words of encouragement as Tsukasa finally calmed down a bit. Great, they seem to be in a better mood now, let’s start this again, I am their ‘star’ now, I should retry my accession speech.

He stood up tall to prepare himself, “My dear fans in the crowd! The people of Sekai, whether or not you accept me, I say to keep pushing towards our goal of justice! Everyone says that the sins of Sekai can’t be washed away, well I think that justice shines as stars do in the dark sky of sin!” He said, slowly walked off his pedestal to directly face the people to prove his point, “Judgment is our worship, let us light the lights to pave a way for the future of Sekai!”

“There is nothing that Justice won’t be able to fix, all that’s needed is for you, the audience, to believe in it, with all your heart! So long as I, your archon, stand here in this theater, so long as I stand within you and the Oratrice, I SHALL EVEN JUDGE THE HEAVENS OF THIS WORLD!!!”

The crowd cheered in applause and claps, yells and cheers were heard throughout the theater, and the show of Tsukasa would begin.

Chapter Text

Day two…

A brief meeting was met bright and early (who knew he’d have to wake up so early?) with someone that was named Rui, supposedly supposed to be the Iudex of Sekai, and also a dragon sovereign. Though he’d never formally invited him, but the Maison had announced his accession, and Rui said that HE had actually invited him, so he just accepted it and supposed his mirror self probably invited him.

The trials that were later in the day went pretty well, at least he thinks he did well, although he had no prior knowledge of how to be a defense attorney or a prosecutor he won all the trials that day, luckily they weren’t too complicated… yet…

It was only the second day of him doing this but it was already so exhausting, all the investigating and talking made him tired, and it was only around 4:00PM at this point.

“Sir Tsukasa? Here’s the case reports, as well as all the needed paperwork for today, and a summary of the follow up trials.”

“I was already at the Theater! I’ve seen the trials, there’s no need to go over trials I've already seen, after all, this star can memorize every trial without needing the case reports! Leave these sorts of things to Rui. Besides, none of these are the one I’m looking forward to…”

“Sir? If I may be so bold, what’s the trial you’re looking forward to?”

Tsukasa thought for a second before striking a pose, “A fantastical trial, as fantastic as I am! A wondrous, dramatic trial to end everything! How Your mortal minds would hope to comprehend…”

“I-I see, I can’t capture your amazing divine thought, your mind is unfortunately out of my league sir…”

“No need to stress out about it, my dearest fan! My trial that I await shall come one day!”

.

.

.

6PM…. Tsukasa looked over to his schedule. He had a meeting to attend with a young man, who’d been waiting in line to meet up with him. He'd already met up with people yesterday, though it was kind of a blur, just meetings, after meetings, and paperwork.

“Tsukasa! Your meeting is about to start! I’ll escort you there to the meeting spot!” A cheerful voice came out, A melusine named Saki popped from the door, Rui asked him if he could bring some of the melusines here, obviously he said yes, a star is inclusive to all species! Most of the melusine were now citizens, but with their heightened senses Tsukasa personally appointed many of them to be helpers and detectives around Sekai. He made Saki his informant and general helper, it was nice to have someone around, she almost felt like a little sister to him.

With a brief short walk to the meeting spot, he arrived at a small mansion, with people already outside there to greet him with tea.

“Sir Tsukasa! I-it’s an honor to finally meet you! I can’t believe I’m talking with an archon right now! T-thank you for agreeing to meet with me!”

“There’s no need for thanks, dear fan, I should compliment your perseverance, you stood in line for hours to have a chance to talk to me, no? I suppose it’s just a part of my brilliance as the true star of justice.” He said, putting on his most confident smile as he could. “So, Aoyagi, was it? How’s your son’s illness doing?”

“You remembered my last name? W-wow! I’m so honored! You know of my family as well…”

“HAHA! Well, I am the best archon there is! It’s only natural that I take extra good care of my citizens.”

“Thank you so much, as for my son’s illness, he’s a bit better now, he’s a much more devoted believer than I, in fact, he was the one who asked me to seek an audience with you!”

“That’s good, if this happens again in the future, don’t be afraid to ask me! As your archon it’s my sworn duty to protect you all, and I shall follow that!” He looked at Aoyagi, looking at him in admiration, sparkles in his eyes as he listened.

“You’re such a caring and devoted god, thank you so much!”

.

.

.

After the meeting was done he had a bit of free time, but despite that, he couldn’t allow himself to relax. He started preparations to start research on the prophecy with scientists all over Sekai and see if there’s anything he can do to prevent it. He can’t just rely on his mirror self to do all the work! He doesn’t even know if his mirror self could do it.

Throughout rounds of reading, Saki would every so often chat with him and give cups of tea. It helped to ease his mind, but every book he read said that the prophecy would come true, no matter what happened. Just the thought of the prophecy chilled him to the bone. Everyone that he cares for would be washed away, and he’d be all alone. Forever. He tried not to think about it too much.

Just as he was about to head out for the day, the Iudux walked in.

“Oya? Sir Tsukasa? I didn’t expect you to be here in the library at this hour, what might our archon be reading might I ask?”

“Nothing to fret over Iudux Rui! As the star of this nation, I have to give my very best efforts to make the nation of Sekai the best it can be! And give it 12,000% that I've got! I was simply reading up on some of the prophecy books to see if they held any info. Aside from that, don’t you have duties to attend to?” He tried looking as cheerful as he could, but all the reading almost made him cry in fear of what was to come.

“I see, well, I don’t have any work left for the day, that’s why I'm here, but this prophecy truly is tragic isn’t it?”

A brief moment of silence washed between the two, he tried lifting the mood a bit, “HAHAHA! It’s nothing that this star can’t handle! I’m the archon of Sekai! I know I’ll be able to solve this puzzling conundrum!”

“Fufu… Alright then, I’ll help you out then, I’m quite knowledgeable in these sorts of things, why don’t we think of a solution together?”

The two looked through the thick shelves of books, most already dusty, perhaps he should hire a cleaner as well… The two went through a bunch of the library’s stock that day, Rui suggesting ideas to the other.

“What if we modify fish to lift up everyone above the water!? I could come up with a conduction that-” He was interrupted by Tsukasa quickly shutting down the idea, “No! Uh- Ahem, sorry Rui but my goal as this nation's star is to prioritize the safety of the people of Sekai, and modifying fish could hurt ecosystems and potentially harm people if we can’t train the fish.” Though if he was being honest he would love to consider one of the many ideas the Iudex said, considering so far there weren’t any other options, but they were far too dangerous seeing as everyone didn’t have the strength to handle things like Rui could.

“Alright, alright, no modified fish then.”

Even with this, they couldn’t think of anything. All signs were still leading towards a disaster to Sekai.  It’s alright, the prophecy won’t be happening anytime soon, I still need to play my part and continue this, I just hope I can find a solution soon…

flipping through endless pages of books, Rui sighed, “There’s no loopholes or anything I can think of so far…”

“I see… all signs still lead to the prophecy happening… Well, as the archon, I simply wanted to see how far the dragon sovereign’s wisdom could go, forget it for now! The archon of Sekai shall be able to handle this from now on! It’s nothing for you to worry about Rui!”

“Fufu… Alright, if you say so.”

Rui eventually left later, leaving Tsukasa alone, still reading through weather reports, documents, the studies of primordial seawater, etc… still. Nothing. He felt almost discouraged, but it was for the sake of everyone! And Tsukasa wasn’t the type of person to back down from this. He had to try and save everyone, to matter the cost.

He hadn’t even realized how late it’d gotten at that point, it was around 11Pm at that point, his eyes started to hurt and he knew he had to get up early the next day so he headed off to bed.

The day’s finally over… I don’t think I let anything slip, hopefully, it’s only been 2 days and I already feel utterly exhausted. No! Snap out of it, I’m Sekai’s star, I have to continue this act, so I should get to bed, I can’t let everyone think their archon is tired and unrested after all. At least things are starting to get on track, no one suspects me anymore. Alright, don’t think too hard about it Tsukasa, you’ve got a new day ahead of you.

Notes:

It's my first time writing these two so please let me know if it ever feels OOC

Day 87…

A few months had gone by without him even realizing it, slowly, he started getting used to it a little bit more, it was lucky that he was a decently fast learner. Though he can’t really disagree with the fact that investigations and paperwork after trials were still a pain, still, it's all in the day of an archon, right?

He’d finally gotten hold of a research team that could check water levels around Sekai, but there were no signs of the water lowering. He’d already gone through a few shelves of books at this point, with thousands of books all around the personal library he so often went to. Every day he had more and more to do. Waking up, doing some investigating or trials, paperwork, acting, singing practice, exercise, researching, plus the piano, which he had to learn for a play he did that day, but he enjoyed it enough that he continued doing it.

Still, it wasn’t anything he couldn’t handle, even if he was dead tired at the end of each day. But that was because no problems had arisen at that point, and from the 88th day something occurred.

“Tsukasa!! We’ve got an upcoming investigation we need you to do tomorrow, it’s an assault case!” Saki came bursting through the door with no warning, making Tsukasa jump a bit, it seemed like Saki was really upset, he could see the small tear stains in her eyes.

“What happened!?! Do not fret Saki, for I am Tsukasa Tenma! And I shall make sure this evildoer doesn’t get away with it!” He smiled brightly, trying to make Saki feel better. “What is the problem!?!”

“Tsukasa… they attacked one of the melusines! Our people! W-we don’t know what to do! They threw rocks and stuff at her as well!”

“Not to worry Saki! For this great archon shall solve any problem you throw at me! I shall conduct an investigation right this instant!” he said, striking one of his many poses.

.

.

.

It wasn’t very long before he was introduced to the melusine that was attacked, greeting them with a short bow.

“HELLO THERE DEAR FAN!! Would you please update me on the situation you have placed in?”

The melusine started talking, apparently the melusine had been trying to break up a fight, which resulted in the melusine accidentally hitting the person, and causing the other to knock the melusine out.

It wasn’t long for the investigation to end though, due to the melusines heightened senses and their incredible memory, the melusine remembered everything about the assaulter, and they were brought to court.

.

.

.

Rui was standing before the Oratrice, waiting for its final judgment, and watched as it slowly brought out a small piece of paper, containing the words “guilty” on them, the trial ended and the assaulter was brought to the Fortress of Meropeide. Leaving the people of Sekai to whisper little rumors that spread across the land.

He didn’t know that this one decision would lead to this though:

“TSUKASA SIR!! PLEASE COME OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!” Saki had burst into his room, his thoughts flooded with dread, had the people figured out he was a fraud? Was he about to fail his people? What had happened might have been almost as bad as being exposed. He changed as quickly as he could only to be met with the people, signs high above their heads, screaming at him.

“NO FAVORITISM TOWARDS MELUSINES!!” the people chanted,

“Humans and melusines can’t coexist!!!”

“KICK OUT MELUSINES!!!”

His head spun for a second, I’ve never heard any complaints of melusines being there! What an archon I am, how didn’t I notice it?

He snapped himself out of his own thoughts, and composed himself, using the loudest voice he could, he made an announcement.

“EVERYONE, CALM DOWN!! ALL FURTHER DISCUSSION WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE COURTROOM AT A FURTHER DATE!!”

The whole crowd went silent.

“As your star archon it’s my duty to prevent all problems and disagreements, and to keep you all happy! However!! For the god of justice to be at their max potential and prowess I need all of you to calm down! All of this will be said in the courtroom tomorrow! I will make the best decision to make sure you’re all happy by the end!”

The people of Sekai slowly separated and followed the commands he made, as he went back inside to start on his actual work. But he couldn’t focus, he’d ordered someone to go out and ask the people of Sekai what it was and he was told,

“The people of Sekai think that it was the melusines' fault for the assault, it seems the people haven’t had the greatest reaction to them being here for quite a while now, and the recent trial agitated them more. They seem to think that humans and melusines shouldn’t be around each other.”

Hearing all this, Tsukasa felt disappointed in himself for not noticing. Was it his fault for not noticing? Should he have not let the melusines into Sekai in the first place? He kind of felt like crying, but he couldn’t, he was confused and had no idea what to do at this point. The melusines had been living in Sekai for a while, he couldn’t just kick them out! Not to mention he personally said to Rui that they’d be invited, and he couldn’t bear the fact that he could possibly lose Rui due to something like this, not to mention how disappointed Saki would be…

On the other hand, if he keeps them here, the people of Sekai would get angry at him, potentially putting the melusines at risk, or they could riot against Tsukasa, and he might be exposed as a fake archon! He can’t risk the prophecy happening, not ever. He’d already planned a meeting in the theater tomorrow, and needed to think of a solution, and fast.

But at that point, there was nothing he could think of, each idea had so many risks of something going haywire. What if the people hated him? What if they tried attacking him? The thoughts swirled around his head rapidly.

In the end, he ended not thinking about it, deciding to shove it to the back of his head until later, all the stress of everything made him dizzy just thinking about it, until he was confronted by none other than Rui at his office.

“Tsukasa… about the current situation at hand, what do you think we should do about it?”

“Hahaha! No worries Rui! I’ll have it all figured out! For I, am the greatest star-”

“...You haven’t thought of anything yet, have you?’

He couldn’t say anything to that, he truly hadn’t thought of anything. He had to keep up his act, he just had to say something and fix this quickly-

“It’s alright Rui! I will make sure everything goes perfectly and the people of Sekai will applaud-”

“You may be the people of Sekai’s star, but to me, you are no star. What’s more important to you? The lives of the melusines, or keeping your pride as the archon who keeps their ‘happiness’ alive through hatred? If you can’t even decide that then you can’t ever become a star.

And just like that, Rui left. He didn’t even have a chance to give him a proper answer. He’d have to make it up to the people, and Rui, and come up with a solution and answer.

He doesn’t want the melusines, Saki, or Rui to leave. An archon is always accepting of anyone new, and they have been nothing but good to him. He doesn’t want them to fear, he wants everyone to be smiling and happy, for the sake of the prophecy, for himself, for their smiles. While he’s doing this for the prophecy, he wants to make sure to save everyone, with a smile on their face, and that includes the melusines, even if facing this would be hard.

He’ll make it up to them, with the one thing that he knows how to do best.

“...Saki! I, the greatest star, invite you to assist me! Please come here.”

.

.

.

On the other side of a door, a purple headed man with a melusine sat side by side on a bench.

“You shouldn’t have been so harsh on him! It’s too early to assume things at this point, maybe he did actually have an answer for you…”

“He didn’t stand up for any of you during his speech, that alone tells me enough, whatever he wants to say next is for tomorrow, I promised to give you all a place where you could belong. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have invited you all here. In my opinion, he seems more focused on the happiness of the people and himself rather than the happiness of everyone.” He said, as the rain poured on outside the walls.

Day 88…

Tsukasa stepped on stage, along with Saki, and a hastily memorized script fresh in his head, as the show went on.

Notes:

Chapter Text

Day 88….

Whispers and small murmurs were swirling around the theater as Tsukasa slowly made his way up onto the stage, adorned in a new outfit, it was a sort of knight outfit, one that the audience had seen plenty of times before, a blue cape wrapped around him as he took a bow to the stage.

He projected his voice as best he could, for this to work, he wanted to reach the furthest people in the audience as he could. “WELCOME!! Dearest fans of mine, you are invited into the presence of me, Tsukasa Tenma! As you have seen by my outfit, we’ll be starting this speech with a dazzling show!” he stated, as the audience started their whispering again.

“What could it be?” or “what’s it supposed to mean?” and “what about the melusine situation?” flooded the room in small echoes, waiting to be answered as Tsukasa stood still, waiting.

“Do not fret!! All will be explained soon! I’ve decided to make a short show, with the help of some of my assistants!” he called out, a blonde melusine and a tall man walking in, bowing to the crowd. “These will be my assistants, here we have a pleasant man named Aoyagi! My ‘second biggest fan’ and a talented piano genius! Enough to rival a talented star as myself! On the other side we have only the best informant and this gracious archon’s most fantastic show assistant ‘plus my #1 fan’ there is to offer, Saki!!”

The crowd's jaw practically dropped to the floor, their precious archon was acting with a melusine? If you told the Steambird that the archon would be putting on a show with a melusine they would’ve kicked you out faster than you can say Sekai.

Saki gave a cheerful wave to the crowd who looked utterly confused. “Hello everyone! Please sit back and enjoy this short show we made! We hope you enjoy it!”

Tsukasa did a quick snap and got some quick old props out with the help of some backstage melusines. He truly did hope this would work, he pulled an all nighter along with Aoyagi and Saki to get it written and memorized before the show at 6PM. He was lucky he didn’t have any trials that day, as he couldn’t have someone do the work for him.

The lights slowly dimmed as the audience waited in worry and anticipation.

“Ahem! Once upon a time, in a world so far away, there lived a boastful prince!” the spotlight shined down on Tsukasa, “along with his friend from the village, they were great friends and lived happily, until…”

“Mr.Prince! I’ve brought a new friend!” Aoyagi said as he brought a slightly shaky Saki up on stage, though he should’ve expected this, it was their first performance after all.

“Oh? Who could this be?”

“This is my friend, part of the Sigewinne family!”

“...The Sigewinne family…? I see…” Tsukasa said, although he knew he was acting, it hurt him to be acting like this to Saki, he just hoped she thought the same. But he continued on with the play,

“Mr.Prince! It’s nice to meet you! I thi- hope we get along!” Saki said, putting on her shining smile,

“...The three friends often played together, to the prince's discomfort, despite the Sigewinne member trying to be as friendly as possible, she was always met with coldness… until an accident happened,”

“It started with a simple game of tag, until..”

Saki “accidently” (trying to look as natural as she could) Pushed Tsukasa down during their supposed game.

In this play Tsukasa was yelling at Saki for pushing him by accident, to be honest, he really didn’t like yelling at Saki. He could and would never ever do that! But for the sake of the play he hoped Saki wouldn’t take the show to heart.

“I knew we would have never gotten along…! Our families can ever be friends with each other! What was he thinking when he invited you!?” Tsukasa said, “What am I going to do with you…” he said slowly, walking up to the front of the stage,

“Well? Dear audience in the crowd? What should I do with her? How should this play end?” he said, reaching out to the huge crowd that was gathered in that theater.

The crowd was dead silent, no one dared utter a single word. Tsukasa was worried out of his mind, was the play not written correctly? Did I mess something up? What if they start accusing me of being against them..?

Meanwhile on the other side of the stage, the seats were packed to the brim with audience members, all so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Perhaps it was a slow realization of the whole situation.

An overdramatization of something just because of a small mistake. Yet no one wanted to admit it, though it was so clearly plastered right on all of their faces.

It wasn’t long for the apologies to come rolling in like wildfire, as Tsukasa held onto his mic once again.

“It seems my answer is to do nothing, as it was just an accident, wasn’t it?”

“To all the melusines who are seeing this, I’m deeply sorry, I’m your archon, and I should’ve stopped it before it got out of hand. I want this nation to be a place where all will be happy, that includes every single one of you in the crowd! But this also is a place for everyone else, including the melusines,” Tsukasa said, “No matter what happens, or about the prophecy that we dread, I will make sure every one of us will come back smiling!”

The crowd went silent for only a moment before it changed into applause, an echo of claps emerging from the crowd.

The lights slowly dimmed as Tsukasa walked offstage to greet Aoyagi and Saki, one of them being more clearly affectionate than the other. He gave his goodbyes to them and told them to get a good night's rest, they deserved it after all. It wasn’t until they were gone that a familiar mop of purple hair came out.

“...Rui…”

“...”

“Did you think you could express your feelings better in a show?”

“Yes, actually, I did.” Tsukasa said, “Doing these shows as an archon made me think about how much emotion each actor puts into the performances, and for the performances I do, I want to put my best effort into it! A star is someone who delights everyone there, from the judges, to the actors, and the audience!”

“Rui! Let’s work together again! For the sake of Sekai smiles! Please!” Tsukasa said, reaching out his hand.

“I see… Delighting everyone from the judges, to the actors and audience huh… That sounds nice.” Rui said slowly, Tsukasa hadn’t felt so nervous for an answer since he first became the new archon of Sekai.

“But a passionate speech isn’t always enough to move an audience.”

.

.

.

“Let’s see how we can work on your speeches as an archon for next time, shall we Tsukasa?” Rui said as he took Tsukasa’s hand into his, slowly guiding him back to the Palais Mermonia.

If Rui was willing to stay by his side again, then maybe, just maybe, they could save everyone from the prophecy, for everyone’s smile. Even if Tsukasa would still have to hide something from Rui.

For now, before all that happens, if even for just a second, Tsukasa could enjoy a quick moment with his dearest Iudex, as they walk hand in hand through the starry skies, Hoping that it could stay the same.

Chapter Text

Day 365…

Everything was on track….aside from his progress on the prophecy…. His people were happy, and there weren’t any big incidents aside from robberies, which had all been solved. It was only natural as he was a star!

Being both an actor on the stage plus a lawyer wasn’t easy, but it was nothing their dear archon couldn’t handle right? Even if he wasn’t an archon. Tsukasa had gotten very good at arguments and debates, and had won almost every single case he was assigned. He was basically perfect, always maintaining his good looks and polishing up on his acting skills more and more. He had started a research lab in a large area of Sekai away from the citizens, to check progress on the prophecy and ways to get rid of it, so far, it was still being constructed, but he believed that one day, along with Rui’s help, they could reverse the prophecy.

Day 388…

Tsukasa’s influence had spread to other parts of the world, with a newspaper company that started out called the “Steambird'' and as such, visitors from other nations started coming to Sekai, from the lands of the vivid, to the land of Nightcord, the huge theater being the main attraction of tourists. Of course, Tsukasa always played all his roles flawlessly, even if a character was different from him, it took him many, many late nights of practice to perfect the character Torpe.

It didn’t matter if he passed out as soon as he got to bed, or wore makeup to cover his eye bags every morning, as he always says to himself, ‘ an archon is always perfectly presentable in front of others!’ it didn’t matter whether or not he was a Sekaian or not, he would be doing this for the people's smiles! And he wouldn’t let them down.

The research lab had started conducting a few tests to see if the water levels were rising, and sure enough, they were. Each and every night was spent nose deep looking through each ancient book after another, rereading and finding new sources for potential solutions. It was kept secret from Saki and even sometimes Rui.

Day 490…

“Sir Tsukasa? Here’s the reports on the current water levels right now, we’re currently trying to counter the water levels to no avail so far.”

“Is that so? Well, this issue has reached the realm of the gods, still, your hard work and efforts are all praiseworthy, do not fret! For I am the archon of Sekai, and I will make sure this matter will be resolved!”

“We’ve been detecting higher hydrological sources from Poisson, what should be our next step sir?”

“Keep Monitoring all the areas around Sekai, make sure to make more frequent trips to Poisson!”

—-----

After another exhausting day, Tsukasa would usually be ready to flop on his bed and pass out as soon as possible, but for some reason today he was having a little bit more trouble sleeping than usual.

I didn’t let anything slip today, the increasing water levels in Poisson are concerning though… I’ll have to work extra hard as the star of Sekai! I just have to keep going… and everyone will be saved!’

‘...I just… Wonder when these days will end… No! Don’t think like that! There’s much to do tomorrow! A lack of sleep is unfitting of a star!’

Day… ???

“Sir Tsukasa? Here’s the daily reports for all the trials.”

“Thank you very much!! I’ll get through these immediately!!”

—-----

It was yet another day of research, but this time he was with Rui, something he did often whenever Rui wasn’t busy.

“Tsukasa-kun? Would you mind testing something out for me?” Rui said with a sly smile, and Tsukasa could already tell he was planning something again.

“I always end up testing it anyway, what do you have today?”

“Fufu~ I knew you’d agree! It’s this new mechanical device that some of the melusines helped me design! How it works is that you take this mechanism I have here, and if I use it on you it makes you float!” He said as the device was activated, “I tested it on some boulders earlier! It was powerful enough to fling them, so It’s safe I promise!”

“Wait-” Tsukasa tried to protest but just as he said that he was lifted into the air, and lifted above the water, working surprisingly well.

“RUI! What happens when you let go?!? I don’t want to get flung across Sekai Rui!!”

“Hehe, don’t worry Tsukasa, you won’t go super far, I’ll make sure you land safely!”

“RUI.”

—-----

Another late night at the library was starting to become even more frequent to Tsukasa.

II don’t think I’ve let anything slip today, and they all seem happy, which is great! I’ll make sure to find a solution for the people of Sekai! I have to ease their worries of the prophecy!

I am a bit tired…. I can’t sleep here though! What would the people think if the archon was sleeping in the library?! I am exhausted though…

....Maybe a quick nap wouldn’t hurt.’

—------

Day 18375….

“Sir Tsukasa! Hello! It’s… truly such an honor to meet you in person! Thank you for taking the time to meet me today!”

“HAHAHA! No worries! I’ll always make time for my fans! Your family has been nominated as my #2 fans for a long time!” Tsukasa said, remembering the time he met the Aoyagi’s for the first time. They were so warm and welcoming, it almost felt like it happened yesterday!

“Again, thank you so much Sir Tsukasa, you truly do shine so bright, it makes us happy to see you. We are truly grateful for the day our family first met you almost 20 generations ago!”

‘.......

…20… generations…?

….where’d the time go…?’

“What a fine family you all are! I’ve heard over all your generations of your piano music! It’s truly been refined to fantastic art! Practically as amazing as mine! Hahaha!” he said, swallowing the lump in his throat, “It brings me great joy to have known you all throughout the years!”

“You must be exaggerating…. Um… Sir Tsukasa?”

“What is it dear friend?”

“....You’re… crying…”

“...Really? Haha, I didn’t even notice….! It seems like the overflow of hydro from my person! Even an archon sometimes has a little too much power!”

“Ah… I see… I see! WOW! How amazing it is to see your powers in person! It’s such an honor o archon! I’m truly blessed to witness this!”

—----

As much as Tsukasa would love to hop straight into bed and go to sleep he found himself a lot more restless than usual. ‘I didn’t even realize how much time had passed… it’s been so long and I haven’t been able to tell anyone…

It’s so lonely…. Not being able to tell anyone the truth..

How much longer will I have to do this…? I- I’m Sekai’s star, but…

I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep doing this, will I ever get a break? This show has already gone on for hundreds of years at this point.’

Tsukasa was crying at this point, but he didn’t dare try making a sound,

‘I didn’t even notice my tears today.. Have I reached my limit…? I can’t though! I have to keep trying and pushing further!

I have to keep pushing onwards, but I just… I just wish I could tell someone all this, Saki, Rui… Anyone at all…! NONONO push those thoughts away Tsukasa! If I tell someone, it’d ruin all the hard work me and everyone else had put in!

There’s been so many investigations done over the years, but not a single one has had hope of breaking the prophecy….

I just have to keep up this act, I still remember what mirror me said, it’s the only way to save Sekai! I have to keep faith till the end!

So please… ‘mirror me’... you have to succeed…’

—---

Day 18376….

“Archon Tsukasa! There’s a request from Nene and Emu again! They’d like to put on a magic show in the main theatre!”

“Ah! Nene and Emu! Bring the papers here! I’ll give them the permission form!” Tsukasa had seen some of the two’s shows whenever he had free time, Nene’s singing voice and Emu’s theatrics were a true sight to behold! Not to mention the little robot that performs with them! They weren’t as popular as his shows though! He’d gotten acquainted with them, even doing a few collaborations with them at some point.

“Also, we’ve caught wind of the news that the renowned traveller is coming to Sekai! I’m sure you’ve heard of her, her name is Ichika!”

“I see! It seems they have many accomplishments… I shall give them a personal introduction then! Inform me once she gets here!”

Chapter Text

Day 18377…

Currently, Tsukasa was heading towards the main port of Sekai. According to fast gossip, the traveller Ichika was heading there to look for the legend, Miku. Not only that, but she was looking to meet Tsukasa! Of course, Tsukasa had to personally make a proper intro to them! It’s said that they had helped save many other nations beforehand, so it was only natural he made a good impression!

Over the arch of the port, he looked over to see Ichika chatting away with Nene, along with Emu who’d seemed to have already hit it off quite fast.

Nene seemed to notice him standing up there and directed the attention to him.

“Oh boy… you said you were going to find the hydro archon right? Seems like he found you.”

“TSUKASA-KUN! TSUKASA-KUN! WONDERHOY!”

Tsukasa grabbed out the small microphone he kept in his pocket, gave his most charming smile for a proper introduction.

“HELLO EVERYONE!!! As you can see, we have travellers from afar!! Let us make sure she’s welcome to Sekai! In honour of Miss Ichika who has travelled across the lands to meet me! I give you the honour of a formal introduction done by me personally!”

“I am the hydro archon, focalors, TEMNA TSUKASA!! Pegasus, protector of the land and the star of Sekai!” as he flaunted his best pose to the people near the port.

“There he goes again…” Nene mumbled.

“Ah… Um.. Tsukasa..? How’d you know I was coming to Sekai?”

“I’m the archon of Sekai! I always take great care of my precious nation, after all, with just a flick of my fingers, I can get all the information I need to know about you in seconds!” He boasted, reaching out a hand. “I welcome you to Sekai!”

At this point, other people at the parts of the port had diverted their attention over to Ichika and Tsukasa, along with a Nene that was trying her very best to partially hide behind Emu.

“Since I’m so generous, I offer you a front row ticket to my next show! I hope you’ll enjoy the spectacle that is Sekai!” He said with a light bow, as he slowly walked off the port, hearing the murmurs of Nene, Emu, and Ichika talking in the background, seemingly about their own show.

Of course, he’s the star here, but he’s also looking forward to seeing Nene and Emu in action again.

As the curtains fell once Tsukasa’s small monthly play was put on, he took a bow to the crowd as it exploded with claps from the audience. Another successful show.

Now that his show is done, it’s time for Emu’s and Nene’s to start soon, so he should get to his seat. His seat is high above the audience, and also where he goes to act as a lawyer. Despite the seat being so high, it was truly the perfect spot to watch shows, being close but not too close to the stage, and a beautiful height for both above shots of the actors and front view shots.

Just a few moments later, he watched as a crowd of people came in and filled up the theatre seats, along with Ichika sitting in the front row, probably getting some tickets from Emu as a welcome gift.

Already there from Tsukasa’s show was Rui, also right up in the front row. It's surprising he made it considering all the work he does, but then again Nene and Emu are some of their greatest friends, and they don’t miss each other's shows for the world. (except for Tsukasa, his constant shows are exactly good for their wallets.)

The lights slowly dimmed as Tsukasa watched Emu skip onto the stage taking a huge bow to the audience along with a loud “WELCOME TO EMU AND NENE-CHAN’S WONDERHOY WONDER SHOW!!!” as she suddenly seemingly popped out a large hat from thin air along with a half distraught Nene stepping out of it before Emu chucked it backstage.

“Over here we have Nene-chan! The most wonderhoy assistant!!”

Just then, a masked man appeared on the stage, before Nene and Emu gave their visions to him.

Nene speaks to clear the confusion in the audience, “...a-all our magic shows are done by ourselves, so we’d like to showcase that by not using our visions this time around.” and after that, quickly hopping off stage to prepare for their next part.

“That’s right!! We hope you have a super sparkly magical WONDERHOY time today! Sit back and enjoy the show!” Emu said, as the lights quickly flashed for just a moment before Nene appeared, sitting above a water tank that was hanging high and slowly making its way down onto the safe stage floor.

“You’ve all already seen the kira-kira card tricks so we’re trying a new one! Today… I’ll make Nene-chan disappear from the water tank!” she excitedly said, waving her arms around and jumping around the water tank.

The water tank landed with a large bang as Nene dived into the water and the lid closed in on her.

“Nene-chan is now trapped inside the tank! Oh no! And we don’t have the usual props to get her out!!”

“However! Nene-chan is the best assistant and I'm the magician of smiles! With a wonderhoy of my hat…” Emu mumbled as she started digging around her huge hat that she somehow got back on stage after she threw it.

“With a wonderhoy, and the power of the hat…!” Nene seemed to dissolve from the water, only leaving behind her clothes, as Nene casually walked back up onto the stage with a light bow.

Tsukasa watched all of this from his seat up high, observing and looking into each detail and part of their performance. Clapping and smiling along with the audience down below.

“We’re done with the warmups now! Let’s continue on and make this a wonderhoy show! We’ll take one super duper lucky person today to help out for my next trick! NENE!! BRING OUT THE WONDERSHOW KIRA KIRA MAGIC BOXES!!” She yelled out, as a decently tired Nene started dragging along a big box onto the stage, along with another one with the help of some of the staff that was near the seats.

“We’ll be performing a swap today! With the help of Mr. Box 1 and 2, we’ll have an audience member and I enter the boxes and after a minute, we’ll be swapped! Don’t blink or you might miss it~★” The pink-haired said as she quickly hopped off stage and zipped back to place down a huge clunk of machinery.

She held it up, doing some spins to show it off with all its glitter decor and glory.

“Right here is my trusty number generator! It’ll choose which wonderhoy person shall be part of the magic trick!”

The so-called ‘number generator’ in all honesty, looked more like one of those large casino machines. It was surprising how she managed to carry it, let alone spin it, but it seemed to excite the audience, with each of them excitedly waiting and hoping to go up there.

“Here…we…GOOOOOO!!” as Emu jumped up and pushed down the lever at max power, eventually stopping and landing on the two numbers:

“Row 8, seat 8! Wow! 88! Congrats! You can be part of the magic show!!”

Upon seeing the slightly nervous reaction of the participant, she decided to try soothing her nerves. “Don’t worry! We’ve made sure it’s a wonderhoy and comfortable place! Just don’t come out of the box, ok?” She said smiling, beaming so bright it seemed that the lady just decided to go along with it and smiled back at her before entering.

“Alright everyone! Do a countdown from 60 for me! I’m going in!” She waved before hopping right into the box as the crowd, seemingly on cue, started counting down from 60. Despite the slight rushed paces of the crowd, they all waited in anticipation.

“35…! 34…!” The crowd cheered, as slight little rumbles and stumbles came from Emu inside the box.

“UWEHHHH!! I KNOCKED SOMETHING OVER!!”

“Miss Otori! It’s alright! Just focus on the magic show!”

“23…! 22…!” They continued as an Emu that seemed just a bit too jumpy burst through the door for a split second before she went back in.

“Uuuu…. That one doesn’t count! Even me messes up sometimes!”

The crowd slightly picked up the pace for counting, “3! 2! 1!”

“I know this hasn’t gone perfectly but…! It’s my job to make sure everyone leaves….”

“WITH A SUPER WONDERHOY SMILE!!” right on cue, Emu jumped out of the back audience box with a smile so bright it could rival a sun.

Everyone turned around to see Emu standing proud and tall before she directed their attention to the stage, little flares flared all around, even Tsukasa was captured in the moment, the magic seeming so real.

As all the flares rose up high up to that box on the stage, the little drumroll sound playing on the speakers-

A large water tank crashed right onto it.

Chapter Text

As water slowly dripped out of the now shattered glass box, audience members and the like stood up, facing towards Emu, hoping for her next line. This was only part of the show right? Surely Emu and Nene were just planning this to hype up the crowd like before, but none of that happened.

Tsukasa looked down to see Emu, seemingly frozen in place. Her expression was a mix of horror, shock, and guilt all at once.

Seeing Emu so horrified had everyone else do the same, for a moment no one had any clue what to do. Trying to compose himself, Rui took it upon himself to control the situation.

“The show is over! Medical staff please come with me! Gardes! Seal the exits, bring Miss Otori and Kusanagi back for detainment and secure the scene!” He commanded, as the Gardes came rushing from backstage.

After hearing Rui, Tsukasa finally snapped back to reality, going over to the edge of his spot to try and ease the people in the theatre a little bit. “O-Of course! Do not fret everyone! We will get to the bottom of this incident! The culprit will not get away, as I, the god of justice, will make sure they’re held accountable for their actions!!”

Since the exits were sealed at the time, the people in the crowds sitting back down for investigation at the Gardes orders, with tension hanging in the air.

A while later, Rui announced that the investigation was over, “Sadly to say, the once pronounced dead is one of the assistants in Miss Otori’s Magic troupe, named Phenny.”

“According to the records, some of the fireworks that were off onstage ignited the ropes that were holding up the water tank, causing it to fall straight on top of the stage. Unfortunately we’re still unsure of why Phenny was in the box instead of the participant though.”

The crowd seemed a bit more relaxed now, but Rui wasn’t done yet.

“We’ve searched the whole place extensively, but currently there’s no trace of the girl who was on stage, due to all of this, we’ve determined this wasn’t just a stage mishap, and that this case may have a connection to the serial disappearances of women.”

Tsukasa perked up at the mention of that case, he’s been a prosecutor of some of the cases for a while now, doing some of his own investigations when he’s had more free time on his hands, but ended up usually not turning up with any new info.

He looked over at Emu and Nene, up and front near the stage with Gardes around them. From the limited amount of info he’s gotten so far, it seems to point to Emu, as much as he’d really not like to say it.

At most, she’s the actual murderer (which he HIGHLY doubts) and at least, she’s a suspect. He’s not about to press charges yet but he feels the need to get some more info out of Emu right now if he’s going to figure out this case.

Putting on his best brave face, he speaks out to the crowd. “HAHAHA! I see now! We’ve got a special mystery as Miss Otori’s finale! It seems she’s underestimated the hydro archon this time around!”

“I suspect our Magician here is a prime suspect for part of this case! Along with the serial disappearances!”

Emu looked back at him with a face with betrayal written all over it, “EHHH?? B-but it was an accident Tsukasa-kun!”

“It happened during your magic show, Miss Otori! The missing girl was gone after she was chosen! Not only that, but the one deceased is one of your assistants, no?”

He looked down to see Ichika mumbling something to herself, as Emu, Nene, and Rui all shot him a short glare that sent a shiver down his spine, though he didn’t dare show it.

Rui looked up at him in slight confusion, “...Well, I can assume that your comments are pointing towards you pressing charges against Otori and her troupe for this case?”

Upon hearing that, Tsukasa took a step back, only just realising what he said “Huh? U-um… Well, it’s obviously too early to press formal charges now is it…?” He just had to do it again! He didn’t mean for it to go this far…! He truly doesn’t really think Emu did it, which now that he thinks about it, he doesn’t even think Emu has a true motive! But just as he was thinking of a way to retract his statement the people in the theatre seemed to hype up at his words. Damn it.

“Lord Tsukasa makes a lot of sense! The God of justice will bring the truth to light!”

“A murder and kidnapping under the guise of a magic show! Sir Tsukasa is truly amazing at deduction! He’s said it all!”

He’s done it now. He doesn’t have a way back out now, he’ll just go along with it and formally apologise to Emu later, For now, he’ll have to improvise.

He gives a small signal to Emu, who seems to understand with a sad smile and slight nod of her head before he continues on. “...Ahem! Of course my dearest audience! But what’s even more exciting than the light of the truth is the opponent I’ll be facing for this very special case!” He said, hand reaching out to the crowd as their eyes looked around, seeing if there was maybe someone who was going to take up the case.

Just then, his eyes wandered to Ichika, who was nervously going closer to Tsukasa's seat.

“I’d…I’d like to take up this case sir Tsukasa!!” She shouted out, looking at Tsukasa with determined eyes.

“Paying back Emu and Nene for introducing you to Sekai? HAHAHAHA! Alright then! It seems we’ve reached an agreement! You’ll be having a duel in the Grand theatre with the Hydro archon himself! My dazzling performance will blow you away at our showdown, Miss Ichika!”

“I understand, Sir Tsukasa!”

Rui brought the attention back to him to finish up, “I understand now, charges are now pressed. A trial will now be ordered now, the trial will be held a day from now, you may both investigate the scene. Otori and her troupe will be staying in the theatre, everyone else will be excused.”

The Gardes started escorting the crowd back outside as Tsukasa started heading offstage, setting his sights on Emu.

Before he could reach her though, he saw Ichika heading towards them as well, he didn’t want to disturb them, luckily Emu and Nene noticed him, sending him a hand signal that everything was alright, before he headed back to his office, as to not disrupt Ichika and her investigation.

Rui didn’t really talk with him much that night. It kinda stung, but he understood. He did accuse Emu after all, and they’d been friends for a while now.

There was no point dwelling on it now though, he started with looking through files and prepping for the trial day. Along with later on, doing his own investigation, thoroughly searching around for evidence, Emu and Nene were still there, so he ended up apologising, which was surprisingly forgiven. Along with a small warning from Nene, saying she’d bring Robo-Nene next time.

After all this, he still was thinking about something. ‘ Should I try and prove Emu guilty…? I don’t think she’d be the killer… No! I can’t let my emotions control the case, but… nevermind, shake it off Tsukasa! You’ve got a job to do, even if it means… saying Emu’s a killer….?’

He decided not to think about it. He’s got a job, he’ll make preparations for the trial, and he won’t let his people down. If it’s for their smiles, then he’s got to figure out the truth, even if Emu was the culprit.

He didn’t end up getting much sleep that night.

Notes:

Next chapter will be in Ichika's POV cus I need a proper introduction to navia (take a guess to who she'll be)

I think the writing might be a bit awkward here, so sorry about that, it's kinda weird trying to write this because the relationship dynamics are different in genshin than in pjsk but hopefully it doesn't feel too weird 😅

Kudos and feedback are always appreciated! (I'll try to actually respond to comments now also thanks for all the support you all are amazing <333)

Notes:

Fun fact: I was actually considering to do this but with Mafuyu instead, I honestly think that could've been really cool someone plz do that

all kudos and comments are appreciated :)
(if you have any writing tips or suggestions that'd be great I'm still kinda new to writing)
