Prologue
Many ships come to the Duskgloom Sea hungry for adventure, riches, and a challenge, yet none ever return. The only thing that remains is a skeleton of a ship at the ocean floor, joining her collection of crushed dreams and solemn memories. Her domain of sorrow and pain with no stop to the storms, a domain no sea creature or gem mermaid dare go. The Duskgloom sea that with which belongs to Black Pearl Cookie.
Black Pearl Cookie derives joy from the suffering and terror of others, especially land cookie sailors with a bright future and hunger for adventure like him. Black Pearl Cookie despises him with all her wicked dough, for he brought so much pain and suffering to her kind, and even more so to her. He had tricked her into giving away her precious pearl, he betrayed her by selling it away, and he stole something that he can never give back… her heart. Her heart once full of joy, kindness, curiosity, and purity that brightened the whole sea with just a smile turned ruthless, cold, hateful, and black.
Black Pearl Cookie still sometimes thinks of the days before she became corrupted, her days on the surface looking at the moon surrounded by its own sea of stars. She still wonders if maybe, just maybe, it was all a misunderstanding.
Alas, those thoughts only last a moment as the hatred boils in her chest, a fiery hatred for all of the land cookies and their selfish ways that she had lost everything to. This time, however, instead of boiling over she felt an ache of melancholy of what might have been. She sat alone on her throne at the bottom of the dark sea, wondering if there even was a chance at such a future. A future with him, with Lord Oyster.
