It was Jim who awoke first that morning, the glow from the sun that they were orbiting illuminating their room in a brush of soft blue hues. Spock lay still beside him, and Jim could tell by the soft, even breathing that expressed itself within his shoulders that he was still asleep.
Jim smiled, leaning in and gently pressing a kiss to the visible flesh of his shoulder before pulling the blanket tighter around them and burrowing himself deeper into the cool skin of Spock’s exposed back.
They would rise once more, hours later, and Jim would kiss him; properly.
