New Romantics

Summary:

Charlotte thought the hardest part about going home to Forks with her sister would be trying to get her and their father to have a normal conversation or to get her to actually make friends. She didn't think they'd get dragged into the world of the supernatural with vampires and shifters.

"Charlie, what are you doing?"

The loud clattering and banging coming from the staircase gains Renee and Phil's attention, drawing their attention away from their conversation to the brunette making her way down the stairs to see her gripping her suitcase handle.

"Bringing my suitcase down," Charlotte says, dragging it down off the last step.

"You don't leave until tomorrow." Renee reminds her.

"I know. Just making sure I'm ready." Charlotte responds.

"I'm choosing not to be offended by your eagerness to get back to Forks." Phil jokes and Charlotte rolls her eyes.

"I miss the rain. And my Dad." Charlotte says.

"You're the only person in the world who wants to go where the rain is," Phil says, ruffling his step-daughter's hair and she shrugs. "Come on. I'll help you bring the rest down before you hurt yourself." He says and she grins before running past him up the stairs.

"There's only one more suitcase. The other two are just smaller bags." She says, leaving out the fact that the suitcase was the heavier of the two and her plan to get it downstairs alone was to just kick it down the stairs and hope for the best.

Between the two of them, they bring Charlotte's other suitcase down before heading to the kitchen to find Renee stood over the stove. "Should she be doing that?" Charlotte stage-whispers.

"I am perfectly capable of making dinner," Renee says.

"Eh," Charlotte responds before looking around. "Where's Bella?" She asks.

"I think she's outside," Renee says.

Charlotte heads outside in search of her twin sister, finding her stood outside the backdoor. "What you doin'?" Charlotte asks when she reaches her sister, making the younger girl jump.

"You scared me," Bella says and Charlotte laughs.

"Sorry. What are you doing though?" Charlotte asks.

"Just enjoying Arizona before we have to go to Forks. Is it ever sunny there?" Bella asks.

Charlotte went to Forks a lot more than Bella did. Because to Charlotte, Forks was their home and it always had been. But Bella wanted to stay with their mother and Charlotte hated being apart from her twin sister.

"Like twice a year. It's perfect." Charlotte grins.

"We have very different ideas of perfect, Charlie," Bella says.

"Eh, life would be boring if we were the same," Charlotte says.

"Isn't it going to get confusing when we go back? With everyone calling you and Dad, Charlie?" Bella asks.

"It'll be fine. Besides, a lot of people in Forks call me Lottie. But s'not my fault he named me after himself. Should've thought that one through." Charlotte shrugs.

"He named you Charlotte. You're the one who chose to go by Charlie." Bella corrects.

"If Mom would have let him, he'd have called me Charlie Jr. No need to be jealous because Mom named you and gave you a boring name," Charlotte says.

"There's nothing wrong with Bella or Isabella," Bella argues and Charlotte laughs.

"We're gonna have fun in Forks. I promise. Trust me, young padawan. I know all." Charlotte jokes, slinging an arm around her sister's shoulders.

"Charlie, you barely know your own age at the best of times," Bella argues.

"Shh, don't ruin it." The older twin says. "It's gonna be great. I'm going to take photos of everything I've already taken photos of. You're going to get an actual social life. And there'll be a whole new load of girls and boys for us to kiss. It's gonna be fun." Charlotte grins.

"You mean for you to kiss. And my social life is fine." Bella defends.

"Bella, your social life is me, your books and these cacti. It sucks. You're making friends. I'll make sure of it." Charlotte says and Bella rolls her eyes. "Forks will be great. There'll be rain. It's very green. We're walking distance from a beach. Dad will be there. We're going home, Bells."
