“Come on, Nagi! Let’s go home!” Reo said after they were done changing their sweaty tracksuits to their uniforms.
A sleepy Seishiro nodded, and he let himself be dragged by Reo towards the parking lot where Reo parked his bike. He unchained the bike from the bar and wheeled it out of the parking lot. “The sunset’s pretty today, so let’s walk for a bit,” Reo said. Seishiro just nodded and followed him.
It became a habit of theirs.
Reo would wait for Seishiro every morning in front of Seishiro’s apartment so that they could go to school together, but after practice, Baya no longer waits for Reo with their limousine outside the school campus. Instead, Reo rode his bike with Seishiro to bring him home.
Seishiro doesn’t even know why Reo would even bother riding a bike when their long, spacious, and very comfortable limousine is much more convenient for the both of them, as it is less tiring for Reo. It was even illegal to ride a bike with two people. But Reo assured him that they would never be arrested, as his father was associated with the Chief of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.
Seishiro doesn’t dare comment on anything because, deep inside of him, he likes their little bike ride too.
Riding together with Reo towards his apartment with the wind blowing his hair and the sunset painting the sky with hues of purple, orange, and yellow was much better than riding inside the limousine and looking outside the tinted windows when everything he saw was darkness.
With this, Seishiro feels free. He’s not restricted by car walls. And he likes the short moment of just him and Reo on his little bike.
And today will definitely not be different from yesterday or the days before that.
Or so he thought.
“You did great on practice today,” Reo said as he casually started a conversation while they walked. “The trap you did against Miyano was amazing! As expected of my treasure.”
Seishiro hummed as he recalled their 5v5 match earlier against their own teammates. The trap he made wasn’t as amazing as Reo thought it was because he just reacted to the ball Reo passed to him like usual. If he was asked, he'd say that the pass Reo made was the amazing one. He was marked by two people, yet he still managed to get through them and make a pinpoint pass to where Seishiro was.
It was amazing. Reo was amazing. He had always been.
“Do that again tomorrow, okay?” He heard what Reo told him.
“It’s tiring…”
Reo chuckled, and Seishiro thought he heard something twinkling in his ears. “You said that, but you’re still coming to practice.”
“‘Cause you told me too,” Seishiro confessed, and he meant it. If Reo didn’t ask him to come to practice, he probably wouldn’t show up at all.
“Well, I appreciate you for that,” Reo replied.
Seishiro yawned. He was so tired. His legs would give up on him if he took another step. He just wants to go home. Why are they even walking?
Ah, because Reo wants to see the sunset.
If Reo wants to see the sunset, they could just stop—
A light bulb lit up in Seishiro’s head. He walked towards the grass on the riverbank and plopped down on the ground. This way, Reo could admire the sunset more, and Seishiro could rest.
“Nagi?” Reo called for him. He heard the bike stop behind him. “Don’t you want to go home?”
“Let’s stay here for a while,” he answered, and he grabbed his phone out of his pants pocket.
“Okay, give me your bag. I’m going to put it aside.” Seishiro let Reo take his bag from him and put their bags to the side.
Seishiro opened the new game he downloaded on his phone. Ironically, it was a volleyball game. He was going to search for soccer games so he could learn the sport better, but the game got recommended to him while he was scrolling through the App Store. He doesn’t even know the rules, yet he keeps on playing it because he likes the visuals.
“Is that a volleyball game?” Reo asked, almost offended.
“Hm, wanna try?” Seishiro offered without looking up from the screen. If it were a different person, he wouldn’t dare say such things. No one dares touch his phone except for him. But this was Reo, and Reo... well, it’s Reo, so it’s fine.
“I can’t believe you played a volleyball game before a soccer game.”
Seishiro lost grip on his phone when he heard Reo suddenly speaking so close behind him. Fortunately, Reo caught it in time before it hit Seishiro in the legs. Unfortunately, Reo’s arms were suddenly wrapped around him. Like he was giving him a back hug.
"Hey, be careful there,” Reo uttered, and Seishiro tensed when he heard Reo speaking next to his ears.
No one ever gave him a back hug (even though it was probably unintentional). Seishiro could feel Reo’s breath in his ears. He could feel Reo’s hair on his temples. He could feel Reo’s whole presence behind him.
“What’s so fun about playing volleyball? You should’ve been playing soccer.” Seishiro could almost hear the pout in his voice.
“I was just curious,” he replied, but it was almost like a whisper.
Reo hummed and tapped on his screen. He found the ‘Tutorial’ button, and he began playing while still hugging Seishiro.
Seishiro was tense at first. His senses were flooded with Reo Reo Reo. But as soon as his mind registered that the one hugging him was just Reo, his body instantly relaxed. He even closed his eyes and leaned back a little bit, which made Reo pause before continuing back to his game.
It felt…nice.
Seishiro felt like he was cocooned in a warm blanket on a cold winter morning. No, scratch that. Seishiro felt like he was being cuddled under a warm blanket on a cold winter morning. It’s the type of morning where Seishiro doesn’t want to get out of bed; he just wants to laze around the whole morning, play games, and cuddle with whoever is in his bed.
But who the hell was he even kidding?
He knew who was in his bed. He could picture it perfectly. It was someone with purple hair, paired with amethyst eyes, that he swears sparkles every time it is directed at him. It was someone who smells like expensive perfume; he doesn’t know the name yet still loves anyway. It was someone who never fails to praise him and dote on him. It was the person who found him, even though he was practically invisible to the world.
It was Reo.
And somehow, Seishiro isn’t against it because he wants it.
He wants it to be true. He wants it to become his reality in five or ten years. He would do everything to get to that point in their lives where he would wake up beside him.
Seishiro wants it.
Seishiro wants him.
Seishiro wants Reo to be his.
That realization made him open his eyes. Right in front of him was the sunset Reo wanted to admire earlier. It was pretty. But nothing can compare to the beauty of the man who is currently hugging him from behind.
“Reo? ”He whispered. He doesn’t want to be loud. He doesn’t want to break the peaceful atmosphere they both created together.
Reo seemed to think what he was thinking as he whispered back, “What is it, Nagi?”
“Let's stay together until the end.”
“‘til the end of what?” Reo asked and propped his chin on Seishiro’s shoulders, still playing the game. “You have to be clear, Nagi.”
Seishiro paused. He doesn’t know either. He doesn’t know if his mind went blank because Reo was all over him or if he just truly doesn’t know.
All he knows is that he just wants Reo to be by his side. Forever.
“I dunno,” Seishiro answered honestly. “Just stay with me, Reo.”
“You’re still not satisfied with me being all over you every single day?”
“No.”
I want more.
Seishiro turned to his side to look Reo in the eyes. “Promise me?”
Reo probably doesn’t get what he means, but he smiled—the smile that made Seishiro weak on his knees. If he wasn’t sitting, Seishiro would have been on the floor.
Seishiro wants to lean in. He wants those lips on him. He wants to know what it feels like against his own.
Before he knew it, Seishiro closed the distance between them and kissed him. It was over before Reo even registered it. He just widened his eyes in shock, his jaw on the floor.
“Oh,” Reo whispered. “You mean that.”
“Yeah.” Whatever that was.
Reo visibly turned red and tucked his face on Seishiro’s shoulders. He tightened his arms around him, game completely forgotten, and said, “Okay.”
“Okay what?” Seishiro asked in confusion.
“I promise.” Reo looked up from his shoulders, a blush still on his cheeks. “I’ll stay with you forever, Nagi.”
“Seishiro.”
It was time for Reo to be confused. So he cleared it up. “Call me by name.”
For some reason, that made Reo even redder than when they kissed. Was there something in his name?
Reo looked away and mumbled something out of his breath, but he couldn’t hear it, even though they were so close together. Like, Reo was doing it on purpose so that he wouldn’t get to hear.
He has an idea of what it could be, though.
“Let me hear you, Reo,” he said, tucking Reo’s hair behind his ears as it was starting to cover his face. “I want to hear you say my name.”
“Fuck,” Reo cursed, then looked back at him. “I do hope you know what you’re doing, Seishiro.”
Seishiro exe stopped working, and he cursed just like he did. “Fuck.”
Reo laughed and unwrapped his arms around him before standing up. Seishiro almost whined when he did. Keyword, almost.
“Come on, Sei. Let’s go home,” Reo said as he patted his pants to get rid of some dirt. He offered his hand out for Seishiro to help him stand. Seishiro took Reo’s hand and stood up.
Without removing their intertwined hands, Reo took their bags with one hand and put them into the basket in front of the bike. Reo let go of his hand to ride the bike, making Seishiro say something he didn’t get to think about. “Can I be on the pedal?”
Reo looked at him so fast that he was worried that his neck would snap in half. “Do you even know how to?”
Seishiro shrugged. “I saw you do it.” It seemed easy when Reo was doing it, so he knew he could pull it off.
Reo observed him for a few seconds before sighing in defeat. “Fine. I trust you.”
He immediately rode the bike before Reo could change his mind. Seishiro pulled back the stand as he saw Reo do it before pedaling and looked at his Reo. “Hop on, Reo.”
When he made sure that Reo was sitting comfortably behind him, Seishiro started pedaling. It was wobbly at first, and Reo was giving him instructions from behind. Riding a bike was such a hassle; no wonder he never learned.
Minutes later, Seishiro was riding the bike like Reo does. He kept the speed in mind, careful not to get into an accident with Reo behind him, and just rode the bike at a speed that he knew Reo liked.
Suddenly, there were arms around his waist, and Reo leaned on him as they rode through the street towards his apartment. “Good job, Sei. I knew you could do it.”
For the first time since he could remember, Seishiro smiled.
