Summary:

So I looked into your eyes and I saw the reflection
Of a coward you and I both hate very much
And then I grabbed the knife
And I let the blood out of your throat
And I smashed those tiny mirrors inside of your skull

Let’s see how this works out!

Chapter Text

“No no, I’ll be fine, I can take them if you need, Roier!” Charlie insisted.

This’ll be easy, just an outing with the kids! A nice playdate!

“Are you sure? You gave them a bomb earlier!”

Whoops, yeah that wasn’t the best idea on his part, but hey, it's fine!

“Just let them have fun!” Charlie looked over at the kids playing, they were crouching behind a fence while a bomb ticked down close by. “I’ll take them back to my place for a sleepover, and nothing will go wrong! It's fine!”

Roier gave him a look that said it all, “Okay, but if I catch you- If Tilin gets hurt, I’m-”

“Yeah yeah, We’ll be fine!” Charlie cut Roier off and turned around just in time to see the bomb go off.

Red and yellow... Blood and yolk…

He shook his head, clearing his thoughts. “Come on kids, We’re having a sleepover!” Charlie called to the eggs, and they immediately jumped up and ran over to him.

“We’re gonna go to my place and play over there for a bit, okay?” Charlie smiled down at the two eggs at his feet, He was glad to have Flippa back.

It was like nothing had ever happened.

←-→

“So, what do you like to play, Tilin?” Charlie asked the bouncing egg next to him.

Tilin placed down a sign and Charlie waited for them to finish writing.

‘Bombs’

“Oh, great! I have a bunch of those!” Charlie reached into his backpack and pulled out at least thirty bombs. He also pulled out Flippa’s gun and handed it to her.

“Now, don't hurt yourself, kids! I’m supposed to be the safe tio today, so I need to keep you alive!” he laughed

The eggs nodded and Tilin immediately placed down a bomb.

This was nice! Charlie was glad he had left his old home. It’s much better here. Everyone was nicer, too.

The bomb went off.

Red and yellow... Blood and yolk… A curled-up figure…

Charlie shook his head again. Why did he keep seeing that vision, Flippa was okay!

Right..?

The sun was setting, so Charlie called out to the eggs again. “Alright, kids! We should probably head home now! It’s getting dark.”

Charlie felt a sharp pain in his arm. A skeleton had stepped out from behind a tree and began shooting at him and the eggs.

Just a few mobs, nothing too hard for him to handle.

He pulled out his iron sword. It stung his hand. Damn slime biology, that decision aged poorly–Though it was funny at the time.

Charlie swung at the mobs, and Flippa shot at them with her gun. Wait… this doesn’t have any enchantments on it? Why did it hurt…

A flash of white jumped across Charlie’s vision.

Tilin had moved in front of his sword.

Red and Yellow.

Blood and yolk.

The curled-up figure of a small dragon, not ready to hatch yet, covered in the yolk that had spilled out of the shell along with it.

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

They’re dead.

“What..?” Charlie dropped his sword

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Flippa looked up at him, shaking in horror.

Her writing was shaky and uneven.

‘You killed them.’

“Flippa I-” He stopped when Flippa placed down another sign

‘I HATE YOU’

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Charlie could barely hear Roier yell as he ran up to the murder scene.

Charlie could already feel the magic inside of him flaring up, scorching his already melting form.

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

“I- I gotta go, man,” Charlie choked out, putting his sword back into his backpack. His hand brushed against the flower that Flippa gave him…

“Flippa i…” He pulled out the flower and handed it to his daughter “I'm sorry, JuanaFlippa… I’ll make it up to you”

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Charlie left his Sword behind, it was still covered in blood and yolk.

Roier stared at him as he left. “You are just going to leave? I’m telling Quackity! Everyone will know!”

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Charlie had to get away. He had to leave. An angel will be here soon to take Tilin away. He had to leave before it came... He had to leave before she… Before Juanaflippa…

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

Red and Yellow

Blood and Yolk

He had to get them back…

Chapter Text

The soft light from the glow-berries illuminated just enough for Charlie to see as he sang to himself – Though he didn’t need his sight right now. Alone in the caves under his house.

He was pretty sure they were filled with gas… He probably shouldn’t be down here.

“Oh, hello little buddy!” He smiled down at a slime that had slid up to him. “Are you lost?”

It shook its face – for lack of a head – and chirped up at him.

“do you need someone to stay with?”

It nodded.

“What's your name, or, Do you even have one?”

It shook its head and slid up against Charlie’s leg, some of its slime mixing with his own.

Charlie had subconsciously been half-melted for a while, looking like his dormant state ever since he…

“Well, I’ll name you!” Charlie sat down, his slime sliding down into a shorter position, “Hmm, what if I just…”

He could spare a bit of magic for this guy…

Charlie reformed his hands and picked up the slime at his feet, “Now, I'm going to alter your form, is that okay? I’m just gonna add some wings and antenna!”

The little guy nodded and bounced a bit in Charlie’s palms, “Okay! Here we go”

Charlie felt the stinging of his magic coursing through his hands and into the slime he held.

He felt the magical static rebound back out of Glooby and saw him grimace…

“I'm sorry little guy, this hurts me too, but it’ll be better in the end!” Charlie winced.

After a minute, the magic slowed to a stop and Charlie let the newly formed slime float off his hand.

He watched from the floor as Glooby bounced around with his newly formed wings, the light in his center flickering on and off.

“Glooby!” Charlie laughed as the purple slime perched on his head, then rolled off onto where his shoulder would be.

The slime chirped happily, and Charlie stood up, grabbing his pickaxe.

“What are you doing?”

“OH FUCK-” Charlie fell backward as he turned around to face Cucurucho, who had appeared out of nowhere.

He barely missed falling into lava, catching himself on a glow-berry vine, and he watched Glooby chirp angrily at the white bear.

Mother fucker… what do you want?” Charlie growled rebalancing himself in front of the bear who was laughing at him.

“Hahaha” Cucurucho motioned for him to follow.

Charlie waited for Glooby to re-perch, then followed the bear into a room with a video projected onto the wall.

Cucurucho handed Charlie a book

‘WHAT HAPPENED WITH MARIANA?’

“I… I dunno, I haven't seen her since the trial, I guess. Is she okay?”

“I don’t know” The bear didn’t turn around but swept some of the dirt off of the ground, then pulled out another book.

‘HOW IS JUANAFLIPPA?’

“Well. I- I hope she’s doing good! I… I kinda left her alone back there… Do you know how she’s doing?”

Cucurucho pulled out one last book and threw it at Charlie.

‘WHAT IF I TOLD YOU SHE’S DEAD. WHAT WOULD YOU DO THEN?’

Charlie stared at the words on the page for a moment, not believing what he saw.

“Now what's that supposed to mean..?”

“I don't know.”

Charlie felt his slime instincts acting up, warning him of danger, “Why the fuck are you here? Are you just here to fuck with me?”

“Classified”

“Well, you better Un-classify it, and tell me what is happening, or… I don't feel threatened by you!”

“Why?”

“Because I've lost everything before. And I don't think you would do that, I don't think you're here to kill me, so why the fuck are you asking about Juanaflippa?”

The bear pulled out another book

“If something happened… I need you to tell me.” Charlie growled, his slime bubbling up angrily. He could feel Glooby float off his shoulder. Good… he wouldn't want his friend to get hurt if he…

‘FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF…’

“So something did happen…”

‘I don't know.’

“Yes, you do…”

The bear turned around, only to put a giant painting of a skull of fire on the projection.

Charlie felt himself begin to tear up, “She can't be dead. I've been gone for a couple days... WE JUST GOT HER BACK!”

“Yes.”

“You know what, You know what! I don’t know what kind of bullshit trick you're trying to pull, but- What are you doing?”

Cucurucho pulled out two chairs and sat facing the screen.

“What is this? Are you bringing someone else here?”

“No.”

“Then why are you here?”

‘DO YOU LOVE YOUR DAUGHTER?’

“Yes! Yes, of course! I fought for her in court, I’m here for her. To bring her best friend back. I love Flippa with all my heart, and I’d do anything for her…”

‘THERE’S SOMETHING YOU NEED TO SEE.’

Cucurucho played the video.

His daughter,

His wife.

A few other people that weren’t important.

They were in a dungeon.

An iron sword swung.

A shell cracked in half.

JuanaFlippa fell.

“No… No, no, no, no, no no… That… That can’t be her…” Charlie whispered.

Cucurucho just looked at him, holding a bowl of…

“Fucking popcorn? What the fuck? You’re- You're sick! You are sick!” Charlie threw the book he was holding at the bear. He can’t even eat it! He doesn’t have a mouth!

“You… You-” Charlie stammered, grief overtaking his senses. He vaguely sensed the bear leave, and Glooby followed, hissing at the bear, but Charlie blacked out, magic consuming his slime.

She can't be dead…

Right?

Chapter Text

Shits n’ giggles.

That's all this was.

Charlie was having fun! It’s his time to have fun, he deserves it.

No, this is not an unhealthy coping mechanism, no way!

“Gegg, what are you doing?”

Oh, shit-

Gegg went limp as Phil picked him up, his slime dripping over Phil’s arms.

“Oh, Gegg… Come on-” Phil dropped the puddle of an egg into the river that Gegg had been staring into just moments ago and shook the droplets of slime off of his arms.

“Why are you over here? It’s been an hour since the others went to sleep.”

Gegg sank to the bottom of the river. He really didn’t want to talk to Phil right now. He knows too much already. And he’s too reminiscent of home Molympus for Charlie to ignore…

“Gegg! Gegg don't drown yourself.” Phil caught Gegg’s attention again and Gegg pulled himself to the top, using the side to help him.

“What is this..?” Gegg could see Philza’s eyes had turned yellow, allowing him to see whatever aura was around someone, magic or otherwise.

Oh no, Gegg had his used magic earlier, was the aura still around him?

“Gegg, are you alright?”

Gegg nodded and placed down a sign ‘Yes. Gegg is doing geggreat!’

Phil sighed and his eyes changed back to their regular greenish-blue, “Well it’s egg bedtime, do you want to join the others for a sleepover?”

Gegg nodded and started running in circles.

He had to stop himself from playing his geggorchestra because that used magic. And he really had to stop using that.

“Okay, we’re staying at my nest, so you have the teleport?”

‘Gegg has every teleport. This is not a problem for Gegg.’

Phil walked towards the warp stone, and Gegg followed after a moment, only pausing to watch Phil’s broken wings shifting under his backpack.

What did that duck do to him..? Charlie probably shouldn't have trusted a random creature he found on the empty island,

But it’s too late for that now…

←-→

“Everyone is asleep already. Set your bed down wherever and I can tell you a story if you want.”

Gegg shook his head and pulled a bed out of his inventory. He made sure to always keep one on him after the first night’s panic.

“Alright, Goodnight Gegg,” Phil sounded kind enough, but…

Phil knew too much.

Phil smiled down at Gegg and left the room.

This was going all wrong.

But what else could he expect from this damn island…

It’s like he was a tragedy magnet. Wherever he went he was always having a bad time.

This was supposed to be a getaway from it all, with his old friends and new ones too.

But now look at him! A mess of a father, roleplaying as an egg. Why did he even do this in the first place…

A crash of something falling

A splat of a squishy shell on the mossy floor.

A yelp from…

The shuffling of a few eggs startled out of their sleep.

The silence from Phil. He didn’t care.

Gegg looked up at the blurry figures staring down at him, their gazes searing through his shell.

He scrambled to grab his glasses, which had fallen off the side of his bed.

One of the eggs… Tallulah..? Signed something to Gegg, but he was too disoriented to understand it right now.

Phil opened the door he had left from earlier, his yellow eyes immediately catching Gegg.

“Gegg? What-”

Gegg panicked. His shell had split when he fell, and he could feel his magic working to fix it. Uncontrollably. Charlie’s aura was growing steadily, and his magic stung.

It hurt.

It was hurting him and he couldn’t stop it.

It hurts

It hurts

It hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts

And it wouldn’t stop

So Gegg ran. He stumbled up to a standing position, his form already melting, and hit the door.

His acidic slime burnt a dent in the metal, and he vaguely heard Phil yell at him.

“Gegg wait-”

Gegg pushed his way through the small hole he had burned through and using his melting form, he pulled himself up the ladder.

One more iron door and he would be out. One more round of magic and he could melt it.

One more obstacle.

But it never was the end, Was it.

Charlie slid through the trap door’s new hole and ran towards the edge of the well, sliding under the fence and balancing on the edge.

A moment of hesitation.

One last look.

No... He cant… He’s gotta go-

“Slime!?”

Charlie snarled, his voice still distorted like Gegg, “GO AWAY”

And with that, he slid down the side, leaving a thin layer of mucus on the edge.

“Slime, please stay!”

Chapter Text

“Did you hear what happened with Gegg?”

“No!-” Charlie coughed. “Uh, I mean- no. What happened?”

Foolish gave Charlie a weird look but returned to building as he explained, “Well, Gegg was at Phil's place and apparently Gegg had a powerful magic aura. Kinda like.. Yours..?”

Foolish had turned around again, his paraglider in hand, but stopped when he saw Charlie’s magic flare up.

Shit shit shit-

Charlie calmed himself down, feeling his magic shrink to its regular size.

“What was that?”

“What?”

“Your magic aura, It was massive!”

“Oh, really?” Charlie felt a bit of his slime drip onto the shoulder of the Titan he was standing on, dislodging some dirt

“Aw, Fuck, man. Sorry…” Charlie softly hissed and bent down to grab the piece. “Thanks for inviting me to hang out, by the way, I needed this.”

“Yeah, It's great to see you again!” Foolish yelled as he jumped off the side, his glider keeping him up as he inspected the Titan. “You need to come to the main island more!”

Charlie couldn’t hear foolish anymore, but he saw his face drop as he got farther away.

He jumped off the side too, gliding over to Foolish just in time for him to hear a harsh wail. One that only a totem could cry.

“Woah, man, you okay?” Charlie laughed as he approached the other.

“No! The shoulders are uneven!” He cried, letting himself drop to the ground.

Charlie followed suit and chased after Foolish as he ran back toward the elevator platforms.

Charlie saw Foolish trip

Saw Foolish get up and put a hand to his face

Saw Foolish turn around, his hand still covering his gem eye.

Saw golden blood dripping from underneath his hand.

“Foolish, What happened?”

“I don’t know. I tripped and.. I shouldn’t have cracked! It’s-”

Charlie looked past the totem as Foolish removed his hand from his eye.

A rock. Nothing too strange. But… How did it…

“Oh no…” He heard Foolish gasp, but Charlie slid over to the rock.

His magic flared up, the negative aura on this rock was astonishing… It was placed here for a reason…

“Oh no…”

“Yeah oh no- my eye cracked!” Foolish hissed in pain as he watched Charlie bend down to look at the rock. “What even happened?”

Foolish stumbled forward, almost falling again if it weren't for Charlie catching him.

“Look at this… It’s covered in negative energy…”

“Woah, yeah… Wait, No way…”

Foolish reached out to pick up the stone, but Charlie stopped him “Wait! don’t. It could hurt you more.”

Foolish hissed in pain as Charlie grabbed his arm.

“We should probably get you to a hospitable, If only to rest while you heal yourself.” Charlie stood up, helping Foolish do the same.

“Yeah yeah, alright.”

←-→

“By the way Slime, how come you know so much about the gods anyway? I thought you were just a powerful follower of magic?”

“Uh, Yeah. I am… I've just studied a lot.”

Foolish was propped up on his arm, lying in the white cot in the order’s infirmary. Charlie was sitting beside him on a chair he pulled up, chatting with the wounded totem.

Foolish had a bandage wrapped around his eye, and his shark hood – which was apparently not part of his body?? – was on the nightstand beside him.

“Really? But you’re so powerful!”

“Aw, thanks!” Charlie mocked a narcissistic pose, laughing as he did. “Aren't you, like, a demi-god?”

Charlie knew very well what Foolish was. He had known him for thousands of years, but ‘Slime’ Didn’t. So he’d play dumb for now.

“Yeah! Under Biz- Uh, The god of life.”

“Wow, That explains why you have totem powers.”

“Yeah,” Foolish chuckled “Aren't you allergic to magic or something? Why do you have such a powerful connection with the god of Magic?”

“Oh, I don't know actually. I guess I was just born with it.”

“Huh, Weird. I thought you-” Foolish said, then he was interrupted by both his and Charlie’s communicators buzzing.

“Jinx!” Foolish yelled before grabbing the device.

Charlie laughed, then grabbed his own, checking the notification. But it wasn’t good.

‘Mandatory meeting at Molympus tonight. All divine beings requested by midnight.’

It was 10 pm

“Shit, that’s not good… I gotta go” Foolish tried to sit up, but he immediately fell back down on the pillow.

“Wait, where are you going? You're supposed to rest!” Charlie felt his slime bubble up in warning as he stood up to help the totem.

“I…” Foolish looked around, probably for an excuse, then sighed.

“You trusted me with your secret back then…” foolish paused. Secret? Was he talking about him being a slime? Charlie was surprised he remembered, with what the duck had done to everyone else’s memories.

“I'm a demi-god, right?” Foolish continued, “There's a mandatory meeting at Molympus tonight, in like, two hours.”

“Oh, shit… That's really not good.”

Foolish nodded, then looked down at his communicator again…

Well, this was bad. This’d be his sixth month away, and who knows if they noticed or not. Charlie wondered if the others-

“What if you came with me?” Foolish interrupted Charlie’s thoughts, startling him with the suggestion.

“What? But, I thought only high-ranking beings could visit Molympus?” Charlie stuttered,

“Well, I could bring someone to help me get around,” Foolish smiled innocently up at the slime, his sharp teeth glinting slightly green against Charlie’s steadily expanding aura. He wished he could hide it better, but it was uncontrollable, trying to protect him from whatever small inconvenience got in his way.

“I- Uh- Why not get Phil to help you! He’s heading up there too, right?”

“I mean yeah, but you’re right here! We can go now and not be late!”

“But- but-” Charlie racked his mind for an excuse, but he couldn’t find one…

He sighed, “Alright... But I’m not going in.”

“Yes!” Foolish reached up and grabbed Charlie’s hand, and without any warning, they teleported to the place Charlie had fled from. To the place he dreaded to return to.

To his old home.

Molympus.

Chapter Text

Muffled yelling.

Charlie sat just outside the Molympus gates, listening to the other gods arguing inside.

He knew what they were fighting about. He had disappeared, and they had no idea where he was.

Little did they know, he was disguised as a regular old slime, right under their noses.

Charlie wished he could leave. He could easily teleport away, get away from this gods-awful situation he was in, and run away from his problems. Just like he always did.

But he couldn’t. He was there for Foolish. He promised he would stay, and It would be more suspicious if he was gone, and a trace of magic was all that was left.

For now, he had to mingle with the other slimes, hidden in the flowers. No trace of magic in sight – he made sure of that.

“Well, what the hell are we supposed to do then!?” Charlie heard Grizzly yell from inside the building.

The door burst open and Grizz stormed out, a few dogs following him, whimpering.

One of the dogs swerved off to the side, sniffing around the poppy patch Charlie was hiding in.

He slid away from the canine, shrinking himself down, but the dog started barking at him.

“Shut up…” Charlie hissed at the dog, shooing it away.

“Poppy, get over here!” Grizzly called to the stray dog, and Poppy whimpered, but obeyed, turning away from the hidden god.

Phil and Kristin were next out, Phil sighing as they exited.

Then came foolish, his key out of here.

“Slime?” he called, and Charlie slid over to him, reforming his human-like appearance.

“We should go..” Foolish looked over his shoulder at the remaining gods, Badboyhalo right behind him.

Foolish grabbed Charlie’s hand and they teleported back to the infirmary.

Foolish instantly collapsed on the bed, head in hands.

“What happened in there? I heard a lot of yelling…” Charlie felt himself shrink slightly as he sat back in the chair.

It was nearly morning now, and he was tired as hell, but Charlie wanted to know what exactly happened.

“Well, the god of magic is missing. We have no idea where he went, and the god of nature told everyone to tell him immediately if they found him…” Foolish groaned in response, burying his bandaged face into the pillow on his cot.

Charlie felt his slime bubble up defensively at the information, and his senses screamed for him to leave.

To get away and never come back to this realm.

But he had to stay with his friend.

And honestly, Charlie didn’t think his life could get any better than this, even if it had caused him the worst grief he had ever felt.

He ran away from Molympus in search of a more exciting life, and he definitely got one.

At least he had friends here. Not many other worlds offered that for him.

The loud snoring from the totem next to him brought Charlie back from his thoughts.

He might as well return to his crack shack of an island, it was nearly sunrise anyway.

Before he left, he grabbed a poppy from his bag, laying it on Foolish’s nightstand.

“Stay safe, buddy…” Charlie whispered before grabbing his warp stone and teleporting away.

←-→

Why did he always have to run away?

It was habit, now; Running away from his problems.

He ran from his old life,

He ran from his family.

He ran from the friends he hurt,

He ran from the children he killed.

He ran away from everything.

But he couldn’t run from the growing dread, making his slime bubble up as he sensed something approaching.

It started off as a low tension in the back of his mind. Nothing too unusual for the slime. He ignored it for as long as he could, but eventually it became too strong for even him to overlook.

He got up from where he was at the back of his damp basement and climbed up the ladder.

He could sense something. He had no idea what it was, but it felt dangerous.

Charlie scanned the horizon, searching for the danger.

And then he noticed it.

Storm clouds.

What..? Quesadilla island was supposed to be sunny! Why was this storm appearing out of nowhere?

He heard thunder in the distance, and eventually, he noticed a green blob along with it. He might need some new glasses…

Charlie braced himself as the wind picked up around him, and the things approaching came close enough for the slime to tell what they were.

Code Entities. Specifically, the ones that almost killed Gegg during the elections.

“What do you want?” Charlie growled as they landed on the sand in front of him.

‘W3 w@nt t0 h3lp.’

Chapter Text

Charlie felt the static on his arms tingle as he hugged his daughter.

It's alright. Just the price to pay for Flippa. He could live through their control until it all cleared up.

‘D@d? @r3 y0u 0k@y?’ [Dad? Are you okay?] His daughter wrote in her notebook, worried about him.

“I'm okay Flippa! I’m just paying the price for your life back!” Charlie chuckled, standing back up.

His daughter looked up at him worriedly, her tail softly rattling behind her, but pulled out the task book again.

“Well, we have the last one done!” Charlie smiled as Flippa handed the book to him.

He opened the book to the first page and read it aloud to Flippa, “Egg task number one! Feed the baby food made of food and food with food and food and apples and love and food.”

Apples… Charlie could feed her apples… Everythings fine! She didn’t need to know…

“That's perfect! I can add all of those things for you, Flippa!” Charlie closed the book and held out his hand for Flippa.

But he was interrupted by his communicator buzzing. Cellbit sent a message to him. “Sorry flippa, I gotta take this…”

< Cellbit Whispered to you: Where are you? >

< You whisper to Cellbit: At my Crack Shack >

< Cellbit Whispered to you: What's the warp name? >

< You whisper to Cellbit: Eggxile >

“Flippa, we have some guests coming over, go hide…” Charlie looked up from the device in his hands and motioned for Flippa to run away.

She just made it inside the door – Or the absence of one. He really needed to get that fixed – when Cellbit and Phil appeared next to him, causing him to fall backward with the sudden burst of magical energy.

It hurt it hurt it hurt it-

“Charlie! Are you okay?” Phil reached down to help Charlie up as he spoke, but Cellbit got right to work, sliding down the sandy hill next to the others and running up to the house.

“Woah, where are you going, man?” Charlie felt his slime bubble up defensively as he watched Cellbit explore.

“Oh, sorry, Slime,” Cellbit apologized but continued inspecting the ground around his shack.

“Cellbit!” Phil cawed in his direction, causing the cat-hybrid to look up.

“Slime! Sorry, I've just been doing some investigating into-”

Charlie let out a string of stammering and slime noises, interrupting Cellbit mid-sentence, and causing Phil to burst out laughing.

Charlie felt the familiar tingling on his arm and heard his voice glitch out, and in response, Phil’s feathers fluffed up defensively and Cellbit’s ears perked.

“What was-”

“Anyway, what kind of investigations?” Charlie chirped, putting on a fake smile to divert the conversation.

“Well,” Cellbit said after a moment “Theres been this weird dice event that's been happening to everyone and-”

“Oh, yeah, I got a ticket! follow me!” Charlie silently prayed hoped that Flippa was hidden.

“Uhh, don't mind that..!” Charlie growled under his breath and ran toward the ladder to the basement, completely avoiding the open notebook on the table.

“Wow, let me take a picture of you, Phil!” He heard Cellbit call. He let them take pictures. Nothing too incriminating up there…

Charlie grabbed the notebook pages scattered around his basement before the others could come down, and covered the cockroaches-

“Uhh, What that?”

“Nothing! Nothing..!” Charlie hissed and grabbed his axe to break into his wall, revealing the hidden backpack.

“Your birthday?” Cellbit was looking at the leftover decorations when Charlie turned around.

“Yeah, it was a few months ago, I don’t get out very much.” Charlie laughed and handed the ticket to Cellbit.

They needed to get out of there so he could do his egg tasks, if-

Cellbit’s ears perked,

Phil’s feathers fluffed up,

Charlie’s heart sank.

Juanaflippa climbed down the ladder.

Notes:

WHOO BOY, THE NEXT CHAPTER IS A DOOZY!

JuanaFlippa is a snake! It just makes too much sense, think about it!
She has a soft shell, like a snake, she can’t see very well, like a snake, most house snakes are very prone to illnesses, like her allergies, and I really like reptiles!
Uhh, disregard that last one. But SnakeFlippa makes sense, doesn’t it! And she makes slime noises because why not!

Also, this is the actual JuanaFlippa. She was revived by the code, in return for his willingness to be under their control for an undisclosed amount of time.

Chapter Text

Charlie heard himself growl, his slime bubbling and writhing under his skin.

He watched as the small beginnings of an apple tree rustled in the wind, negative energy surrounding the awful thing.

He let a piece of his slime detach from his mass and slide over to the roots of the tree. He’d destroy it. No way was he going to let the person who ruined his life so many times replant himself right next to Charlie’s new house.

Charlie winced as the little blob of himself writhed in pain when it came in contact with the base of the tree.

‘D@d? Wh@t's wr0ng?’ [Dad? What's wrong?]Flippa tugged on her father’s shirt and showed him her notebook.

“Oh, don’t worry about me, Flippa! This tree is just causing me some trouble. Don't touch it for now, okay?”

‘0k@y..?’ [Okay..?]Flippa looked worried but followed Charlie back into their house.

←-→

“Here Flippa,” Charlie handed his daughter an avocado toast, her task food for the day, and turned around to grab a juice. “What kind of juice do you want?”

“W1n3?” [Wine?] Flippa had the most innocent smile on her face looking up at him. How could he resist her?

“Yeah, alright! What's wrong with giving a child some alcohol.” He laughed and reached back into the barrel, feeling around for his backup wine bottle.

“Uhh, Looks like I'm out..?” Charlie turned back around to see Flippa’s distraught face. “Why don't we go to the main island and get more?” Charlie quickly offered, closing the barrel and grabbing his backpack.

Flippa quickly nodded and jumped from her seat, grabbing her pink satchel and taking her warp stone out.

“Okay! Teleport to spawn,” Charlie smiled at his daughter and grabbed his own warp stone.

←-→

“Wine, wine…” Charlie murmured to himself as he waited for Flippa to arrive. He could probably sneak into one of the federation buildings-

He felt the familiar tug on his shirt and looked down to see Flippa holding out her notebook.

‘S0m3th1ng d0sen’t f33l r1ght…’ [Something doesn’t feel right…]

“It’s okay, Flippa, I’ll protect you. It’ll be a quick trip to the federation kitchen and steal some wine!” He smiled down at his daughter and walked out of the spawn room. There were a few faceless workers, but nothing too strange. He wondered what Flippa sensed…

He led Flippa to where the presidential dinner was held – he never bothered to learn what it was called – and into the kitchen at the back.

He immediately opened a cabinet and began searching for the wine, telling Flippa to do the same, and almost as soon as he said that, he heard a happy chirp from Flippa, who was holding two bottles in her hands.

“Great! Grab as many as you can and let’s get out of here!” Charlie ran over to the cabinet Flippa was in and stuffed several bottles into his backpack and satchel.

Footsteps. Right outside the building.

He mentally thanked his brother   Bizly for the snake-like sensing vibrations in the ground. He’d be long dead without them

“Follow me” Charlie motioned to his daughter and leaned around the door frame. Nobody outside.

He followed the edge of the circular building and made his way to the elevator, Flippa close behind.

‘D@d, 1t f33ls w0rs3…’ [Dad, it feels worse…]Flippa held up her notebook, staring at where the footsteps came from.

“Don't worry, flippa. I’ll get us out of here.” Charlie reassured his daughter and turned back to the elevator.

Charlie picked up Flippa, and stood on the elevator block, taking them up at the same time.

As soon as They got up to the top, Charlie told Flippa what he wanted do:

“Flippa, I need you to trust me. We’re going to try something that we’ve never done before,” He crouched down to meet Flippa’s level, whispering “You know how I can melt? I want you to try that too…”

Flippa looked startled for a moment but nodded determinedly.

Charlie nodded in return and let himself sink into the dirt underneath, feeling his slime shift around the big clumps.

He waited for Flippa to join him, feeling her tail brush against the ground as she looked around.

But.. She didn’t come.

He felt another set of footsteps coming around the corner, but all he could do was wait…

Footsteps, then silence.

Flippa’s tail rattled, growing in intensity as time passed.

The stranger steped forward forcefully.

Flippa stumbled back, startled.

Then a string of chirps, panicked and muffled.

“Flippa!” Charlie emerged from the ground to see a faceless worker with their hand over Flippa’s mouth, dragging her away.

Charlie saw the worker drop the egg and an inhuman smile broke across its mask. Not it’s face… This wasn’t a federation worker.

It cackled, a laugh Charlie knew very well.

And it shifted into his true form.

“JShlatt…” Charlie hissed.

The figure in front of him was barely human anymore. It had been thousands of years after all, but Charlie never expected this…

He was a black, tar-like sludge, with an animalistic demeanor, hunched over; his arms keeping him upright. His claw-like hands and feet, horns, dripping tar covering one eye, and newly formed wings had white tips, glowing with the newfound delight. The one open eye stared right into Charlie’s soul, a red, slit pupil blinking at him.

Joy emanating from the beast’s movements, the monster threw aside Flippa and galloped towards Charlie, stopping right as he was about to hit.

“Ǝ༙྇҉ ᴉ༙྇҉ ʅ༙྇҉ ɹ༙྇҉ ɐ༙྇҉ ɥ༙྇҉ ꓛ༙྇҉ ” [Charlie…] Shlatt’s voice was distorted and scratchy, almost unrecognisable.

“I thought I got rid of you…” Charlie watched Flippa get up in the corner of his eye, shifting into her egg form. She had new cracks and some were dripping blood and yolk…

Red and Yellow,

Blood and Yolk…

Charlie refocused on the eight-foot beast of a man in front of him, who chuckled.

“. ǝ༙྇҉ q༙྇҉ s༙྇҉ ʎ༙྇҉ ɐ༙྇҉ ʍ༙྇҉ ʅ༙྇҉ ɐ༙྇҉ ʅ༙྇҉ ʅ༙྇҉'༙྇҉ I༙྇҉,༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ s༙྇҉ ɐ༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ ʅ༙྇҉ d༙྇҉ ɥ༙྇҉ O༙྇҉ ” [Oh please, I’ll always be here!]

“But why are you back! What do you want with me?”

“! ʍ༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ u༙྇҉ ʎ༙྇҉ ɯ༙྇҉ ɹ༙྇҉ o༙྇҉ ɟ༙྇҉ ʇ༙྇҉ u༙྇҉ ɐ༙྇҉ ʇ༙྇҉ s༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ ʇ༙྇҉ u༙྇҉ o༙྇҉ ɔ༙྇҉ ʇ༙྇҉ s༙྇҉ ɐ༙྇҉ ʅ༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ ɥ༙྇҉ ʇ༙྇҉ ʇ༙྇҉ ɔ༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ ʅ༙྇҉ o༙྇҉ ɔ༙྇҉ o༙྇҉ ʇ༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ ɹ༙྇҉ ǝ༙྇҉ ɥ༙྇҉ ɯ༙྇҉ ༙྇҉ I༙྇҉ , ʍ༙྇҉ o༙྇҉ u༙྇҉ ʞ༙྇҉ n༙྇҉ o༙྇҉⅄༙྇҉ ” [You know me, I’m here to collect the last contestant for my new project!]

And something fell out of where the beast’s hand would be.

Something that would change his life once again.

The thing that once gave him his powers, would strip him of everything.

A purple dice hit the ground, it’s faces constantly shifting and changing.

The Demon’s voice rang out clearly, and Charlie felt magic start to bubble up inside him, causing his vision to go blurry

And then everything went dark, the only sound left was the echoing laugh of JShlatt

“Welcome to purgatory, Charlie.”

Chapter Text

Day one

Week one

“THIS IS NOT PURGATORY! THIS IS HELL!”

Charlie would know this better than anyone. He’d visited that place more than he should’ve.

This was worse than Shlatt had ever created before.

And the fact that he had the hundred-sided dice was worse than ever because most of the residents here were mortals, he had no idea what the dice would do to them.

Right now, Charlie was sitting with his found family around a campfire, watching Jaiden and Foolish Run repeatedly into the fire.

Charlie had tried many lifestyles during his godhood, but what Cellbit was suggesting, he had never thought of;

“We could use these bodies as fuel if we run out!” He sounded maniacal, but Charlie understood. Condi had almost eaten him the last time the die was used, and Cellbit himself had a track record of eating people.

Jaiden was cackling, her wings flapping behind her, and Foolish was starting to crack. Apparently another team “Found” a stack of totems. And that was taking a toll on the demigod.

“Let's all confess our sins. Maybe they’ll let us out if we atone for our sins or something!” Jaiden collapsed next to Charlie, out of breath.

“I shouldn’t have eaten all those faceless workers…” Cellbit chuckled, and Jaiden screamed

Foolish and Phil laughed at Jaiden, who was freaking out.

What a world this was…

“I WOULD KILL YOU ALL FOR CUCURUCHO!” Jaiden yelled in her panic, part of her wing catching on fire as it flapped around.

“Okay, My turn my turn!” Foolish screamed over Jaiden, “I'M A DEMIGOD!”

Baghera was collapsed on the ground next to them, her wings slowly flapping as a subconscious stim, “I’m a federation Experiment; I’m not an actual person.”

“I made a deal with essentially demons to get my daughter back. I’m definitely turning into a code.” Charlie hissed. “I should never have made this place”

“Made?” Baghera looked up from her position on the floor. She was the only one who heard him, thankfully.

“Uh- I Mean-” Charlie stammered, before getting up. Baghera would be the best person to tell if he had to. She was trustworthy, and they had shared many secrets before.

“Come over here..” Charlie motioned for the duck to follow, and then slid over to their hole in the ground, where the others couldn’t hear.

“Okay, so, you know how I'm a slime hybrid?” He spoke as soon as baghs sat down next to him.

Baghera nodded, her wings flapping again. She looked worried.

“Well…” Charlie took a breath in, and let his form relax, magic surrounding his slime. It hurts it hurts it hurts it-

The feeling was overwhelming, but soon enough his godly form was revealed, and Baghera was looking up at him in awe.

“Woah! You’re a god?” she squawked

“Shhh” Charlie hissed, shrinking his form down to mortal size again. “I haven’t told anyone else…”

“I’m supposedly missing right now, nobody knows where I am.” Baghera listened to Charlie explain his dilemma, and he was glad she did. He needed this…

“Slime, Baghera? I was told to get you!” Foolish called down the tunnel towards them

“Shit..” Charlie hissed, but couldn’t hide in time, and foolish saw everything.

“Slime..?”

Charlie turned around to face Foolish, his godly features clearly visible.

“Charlie?!” Foolish yelped when he saw Charlie, “What are you doing here?”

“Quiet, Foolish, You weren't supposed to see this..” Charlie shifted back to his Mortal form, which startled Foolish more.

“I- I gotta-” Foolish stammered before running back out into the open.

Charlie chased after him, but to his horror, Foolish was already crouched next to Phil, probably telling him everything.

When Foolish stopped talking, Phil stood up, leaving Jaiden and Cellbit looking confused.

“Slime… is what Foolish said true?”

“Yes, but please don't tell the others, I just wanted a better life” Charlie felt tears well up in the corner of his eyes. He was an emotional being, that was fact, but why now? Why’d he have to break down now?

“Hey, what's wrong?” Jaiden stood up and walked over to Charlie and held out her arms. He saw tear streaks down her face, probably a result of her own breakdown earlier.

“It's fine, I just miss my home…” Charlie sobbed, Falling into Jaiden’s hug, “It’s been too long…”

“But, I thought you arrived with the original residents?” Cellbit asked from his seat on the ground, “You shouldn’t remember any time before the island, right?”

“No, it goes much further back than that,” Phil explained for Charlie, who had his face in his hands, slime dripping over Jaiden’s shoulder. “Char- Slime should probably tell us his side of the story.”

“Uhh, guys? The timer is about to run out…” Baghera came running over from where she was left at the cave. “Oh, Slime, are you okay?”

Charlie looked up at Baghera in surprise, No way the day was already over. “Oh shit, I’ll-” Charlie wiped his melting face, only smearing it across his head “I’ll explain everything tomorrow.”

Charlie looked at the faces that surrounded him, his found family. He trusted them.

And then the collars that the Devil had put on them beeped, signaling the end of the day, and the god of Magic fell unconscious.

Who knew a god would ever fall this low?

Chapter Text

Day two.

Week one.

THIS IS HELL

Charlie was the first to awaken, and thank gods. He needed time to process everything that happened last night.

He promised he’d tell the others what he was, and he would! He just…

He wasn’t sure he wanted to put them all in danger more than they already were.

Baghera was the next to come to consciousness, covering her eyes at the red sun shining down on them. She groaned and sat up, stretching her limbs.

“Morning…” Charlie greeted, watching Baghera’s wings stretch out behind her, newly fixed after a long night’s rest. Ready to be fucked up within the next hour.

“You're already awake?”

“Yeah, I guess he just wanted to see me suffer…” Charlie chuckled

“Who?”

“JShlatt. The Devil, essentially.” Wow, Charlie really did wipe him from existence.

Until now…

“Oh…” Apparently Baghera only just remembered last night. “Wait, Are you really a god? Which one?”

“The god of magic. And smelting and ores and food and stuff, but mostly magic.”

“But, aren’t you weak to magic?”

“Yeah, kinda an oversight on my part. Slimes were a gift from Biz- Uh, The god of life, but he couldn’t think of a downside to their powers,” Charlie smiled as he remembered the first present he had ever gotten, “It's kinda come back to bite me in the ass, but we thought it was funny at the time. I suggested they be allergic to magic, just simple sneezing and stuff, but it kinda got out of hand over time, You know how evolution works”

Charlie and Baghera talked until everyone else woke up, Which took a little bit, But when everyone was awake, Charlie settled down to explain what happened.

“I was a lonely god. My powers couldn’t really do anything to make an impact on any world I visited.”

Jaiden squawked again and Cellbit’s ears folded back.

“Oh shit, yeah, I’m the god of Magic,” He chuckled, continuing with his story as soon as the others calmed down

I was always an outcast or pushed aside.

I would visit other servers to live a different lifetime, or have a fresh start

In one of the worlds I visited, I played a thousand-year-old slime mob. This character fell to the side of the plot, watching things happen over time. I watched cities rise and fall, wars being fought, and people dying. And I guess that's still what I'm doing now.

I came here for a fresh start, a new life. I created this server from the ruins of an abandoned realm that the God of Realms himself created, all so I could have a new start.

The god of Realms left this place with a bunch of Mods and new creatures, and even I don't know everything about this place. The only one who does is that duck.

Mr. Duck is a creature I found alone here, and I probably should have looked more into him, but he was the best I had at the time…

I don't know how he got everyone here, or even other languages–I guess that's because the god of Realms also controls languages–But the eggs and stuff were not my idea.

I’m supposedly missing from Molympus right now, and I do not want to go back.

I just… I guess I just wanted to live a happy life. And this is the best I got.

“But now everything is ruined again, and JShlatt is back and destroying everything, and I’m alone against him…”

Charlie finished telling his story, tears falling down his cheeks, and the others just stared at him.

Just staring.

He guessed it was fine, they had no idea what he was until recently. They should be shocked, confused, and-

“No.”

“What?”

“You’re not alone. We’ll help you”

Everyone nodded in agreement with Jaiden’s comment, smiling at Charlie

He scrubbed his eyes, wiping the tears from his face, and smiled at his friends. His family. He finally found a family. How ironic it is that to found them during the worst point in his life, though what else could he expect.

“Okay!” Charlie stood up and reformed his melting body “We’ll need a plan. We can make it through the two weeks, and plan for the final day. Don't tell Anyone, Okay? This has to be between us.”

Everyone nodded, and they went along with their day

And their week,

And their life, for now.

It turned out to be a good week with his family.

Until day eight.

Chapter Text

A red sun shining through Charlie,

Sand getting stuck in his slime as he runs toward the center hub.

How long had he been here, Eight days?

His wife must have been somewhere on the main island because she was here on Egg Island.

And now she wants to talk.

Charlie ran towards the center hub, sand getting everywhere as he kicked it up.

He had no idea how his meeting with his wife was going to go, but he was tasked with killing her.

Cellbit was originally going to go and kill her himself, but Charlie suggested he go.

If she was going to trust anyone, it would be him.

Charlie had died there earlier, to his horror. She wasn’t there when he died, but she could absolutely take all his stuff when she got there.

And she was there.

“No, no no no…” He hissed under his breath and stopped at the door. She hadn’t seen him. He still had the advantage, he could go in there and scare her. The bolas way.

“RGHGRHGRHGRGHRHHRHRHHRGGRGRGRGGGHGHGRHRGHRGHGRGHGGRHRGHRGHRGHRHRGRHG”

Charlie ran in – his voice muffled by the mask –  and screamed inhuman noises. But Mariana just stood there..? Blushing??

Mariana’s face turned red when Charlie ran in, and Charlie felt his own face grow hot under the gas mask, though it wasn’t visible.

“Slime..!” She greeted him, her face returning to a neutral feeling.

“Long time no see,” Charlie coughed, reshaping his human vocal cords, “We need to talk…”

He backtracked to the body he hopped over – his own – and grabbed his stuff. She hadn’t stolen anything..?

“What do we need to talk about?” Mariana asked, eyeing the slime pick apart his body to retrieve his items.

“It’s been six months. I thought you left me…” Charlie took off the extra gas mask, putting it back in his bag and hanging his own on his satchel. This was his first good look at Mariana since the trial, and she was…

Mariana looked almost completely different. Her hair was curlier than before, falling in short waves, and her glasses had blue frames instead of the yellow ones she usually wore. She had a red and white cloth draped around her body, tied together with a golden ribbon, and brown wings folded against her back.

“I didn’t mean to leave you… and besides, I’m doing great without you.” Mariana’s tone changed mid-sentence like he was hiding something…

“Yeah, well, me too. I’m doing better than ever without you..” Charlie immediately became defensive.

“What happened to you, Man?” Marianna asked, making charlie

Charlie was almost completely naked, the only thing he was wearing was a dark green cloth, and his satchel. His skin was almost always slime now, so he was a lime green and slid as he walked. He also sported two curved horns and a thin tail with a heart at the end, which was almost always moving.

“Uh, listen, it's been a long week for me. We live in a hole…Uh-”

Mariana laughed

“It's not so bad! Its… What happened to you?”

“Well, things changed, and I’m an Angel now…”

Huh?

“Yeah, I'm an angel, under, well, no one right now, actually.”

What?

“Slime..?”

Charlie froze. The closest person he ever got to, was now the closest to turning him in.

“Uh, wow! Good for you! If I can ask, why did the gods choose you?” Charlie coughed out, his slime writhing around and his thin tail swishing. He needed to get away He was in danger he needed to leave to go to get away

“Well, the god of magic is missing, and the other gods got a lead that he was here. But now I'm stuck here because of JShlatt, I think.”

Charlie felt himself get shorter, his slime melting underneath him. They knew... They knew and he was in danger he was-

“Slime? You okay?” Mariana was always the first to notice when Slime was freaking out. It was sweet.

“I... I don't know, man. It's just…”

“Woah, woah, what's wrong? Are you…”

Mariana’s voice began to fade out, Charlie's slime instincts taking over his body. He didn't want to hurt Mariana, but he couldn't stop himself.

His form condensed, changing into a blob with legs and his glasses; mud and sand stuck inside it.

“Gegg?” He vaguely heard Mariana before he felt himself lunge, biting down on Mariana’s arm.

Stop, please! He’s not a danger to me! He doesn’t know! He won't-

Charlie tasted golden blood. Thats it. He could explain everything when it was over.

Charlie felt his magic rise, consuming his form and he heard Gegg shriek in pain, falling to the ground.

“Slime..?”

Charlie emerged out of Gegg, his godly form quickly shrinking down to mortal size.

“What…..?”

Charlie let his gas mask drop to the ground beside him as he stared at the angel in front of him. “Please, let me explain…”

←-→

“And if you can't tell, I’m not doing great…” Charlie chuckled

“So you were here all along…” Mariana whispered, still in shock at what Charlie had told him.

“And, we’re kinda stuck here because of JShlatt. I’m getting Red team to help me fight him, and if we could get another angel on our team..?” Charlie smiled at his wife hopefully.

“Okay… I’ll help you…”

Charlie let out a sigh of relief and shifted back to ‘Slime’, grabbing his gas mask from the ground next to him.

“We have a plan”

THE NEXT CHAPTER IS BIG AHAHAHA

Chapter 11: I’ll be spending it alone

Summary:

What if I told you that the world was gonna end
And you had 15 minutes to spend with me or your friends?
I guess we don't even need to use the phone
I don't need your answer, I'll be spending it alone

The final day of purgatory
I finally make my appearance again
Isn’t that nice!
I wonder how these fucks will react to what I have planned?

I’m sorry

Chapter Text

Day 14.

The final day.

The day they took their freedom back.

Charlie had picked out all the sand and mud from his slime earlier that day – He wanted to look his best for the coming day – but apparently that didn’t matter, he had more sand and dirt in his slime, almost double the amount he had before.

Fire rained down from the skies as the final challenge came to a close.

The event had ended in a tie, and all that was left was the tiebreaker. Their plan was in motion.

Charlie worked with Maximus, and together they created a bomb that could kill even a god.

He knew what he was doing. It was all for his friends.

‘The leaders of team red and team blue, please report to the center arena.’ The MDA Message popped up almost immediately as the game officially ended.

Charlie ran towards the center. He should be there for his team. For his family.

“Phil!” Charlie called as he approached the arena. The Angel of Death was standing outside the entrance.

“Charlie!” Phil waved, his wings flapping behind him. They healed! Good for Phil. It’ll help get him out of there when the time comes.

“Good luck!” Charlie smiled as he entered the arena stands.

Keep your smile up, Charlie. They don't need to know what will happen.

Jaiden and Foolish were already inside, Jaiden’s broken wings flapping behind her excitedly, “Everything in order?” she asked,

“Yep! Maxo is setting everything up right now.” Charlie smiled at the two.

Foolish brandished his sharp teeth in a wide smile and turned back to the center, where Tubbo and Phil were walking out.

Baghera and Cellbit arrived, and sat down next to the group, ready to cheer on their dad.

Charlie was happy he had this family. It was the best he’d ever gotten as a mortal. He knew he could trust them. He knew they’d get out alive. He trusted them to help each other in their future adventures.

The starting bell rang and Phil and Tubbo drew their weapons.

The battle didn’t last long. Tubbo got in a few good hits, but the goat stood no chance against the Angel of Death. It ended almost as suddenly as it had started, with Tubbo’s corpse falling to the ground.

Phil collapsed to the ground as the Bolas members cheered. Killing his child – again. This had happened too many times for even Charlie to count. – would be a bad blow to his mindset.

The Bolas team rushed down to Phil to congratulate him, and Tubbo came running towards Phil too, probably to comfort him. He needed it. Charlie didn’t want Phil to feel like he lost anyone. Not yet.

“Congrats, Red team. The underdogs win again.” Shlatt laughed, his voice ringing out of seemingly thin air.

Then he appeared, rising from the dirt as he cackled, his tar reforming the animalistic figure.

“Though, not all of you are on the same side, are you? How will you betray each other when the egg chosen Isn’t your own?”

As the demon spoke, the eggs rose up from the ground, white cages surrounding them as they appeared. Shlatt jumped on top of one of the cages, getting the “high ground” in the situation.

Multiple of the parents yelled around Charlie, but all he could focus on was the cage underneath Shlatt.

“FLIPPA!” Charlie yelled, running up to the cage.

A wheel rose from the ground behind Charlie, and Shlatt spoke again, “This wheel will decide who gets their egg, and who’s will be left behind.”

The wheel started spinning, and Charlie slid around to see the front, keeping Flippa in his vision at all times.

The wheel stopped at VII, and Dapper’s cage opened.

The Grim Reaper BadboyHalo grabbed Dapper, clutching him close.

Flippa looked around, her tail rattling behind her.

And then it started.

The ground shifted underneath them as the bomb activated. This was it. Charlie had to do his part.

With a burst of magic, his godly form appeared, as large as it could be; As large as Schlatt.

He used his magic to trap Schlatt in the arena, a green force field appearing to block the demon.

Most mortals and demi-immortals had fled already, but a few were left behind. Tubbo and Phil flew away just as the force field had formed, but Jaiden was still there. She was clawing at Flippa’s cage, trying to break it.

And the white bear that Charlie despised so much was helping her.

“Jaiden! Leave!” Charlie yelled, but Jaiden just continued attacking the cage.

“Oh, is this your little friend, Charlie?” Shaltt asked and reached down to grab the parrot, who screeched. “Ah, and yours too!” He laughed, seeing the bear’s startled face.

“What would you do if I did this?” Shlatt laughed and squeezed his hand, crushing the bird in a puff of feathers and blood.

“NO” Charlie and the bear yelled at the same time, and Charlie pounced on the demon.

“Get out of here!” Charlie commanded the bear, before cursing out the demon under him, using his fingers to dig into the tar.

He just had to hold him here long enough for the bomb to arrive.

For the others to escape.

For his demise.

And sure enough, he felt the heat draw closer.

And an explosion of magic and fire passed over him and JShlatt.

Killing them both.

It was all for his friends.

Chapter 12: Your legacy's not yours to see, nor is your eulogy, And you'll never know what it all means

Summary:

Well, one day you’ll be not even a faint memory
No, at most a ghost or falling leaf from your family tree
Your legacy's not yours to see, nor is your eulogy
And you'll never know what it all means
But you'll be at peace before you sleep if you just keep this in mind:
That everything and everyone goes with the passage of time

Welcome home, Charlie

Chapter Text

A bright sun shone through the branches above Charlie.

He sat up and almost immediately heard a cry of shock, and saw Jaiden hugging a child. Bobby.

He saw Maximus lying next to him, his egg Trumpet with him.

He saw someone came running up to him.

Someone with a wagging tail and floppy ears.

“Charlie!” Grizzly yelled, jumping on the god and wrapping his arms around him.

Charlie smiled weakly and returned the hug.

He looked over Grizzly’s shoulder and saw Condi and Bizzly walking towards him, Condi with a relieved smile, and Bizzly with a knowing look.

“Welcome back, Charlie.” Condi greeted him when he pulled away from the hug.

“Sorry, I shouldn’t have left..” Charlie apologized, his tail swishing behind him.

“Woah, is that new?” Grizzly asked, pointing to the movement.

“Yeah, It developed recently, I think. Hell of a time I had down there…”

“Yeah, we were watching…” Bizzly finally spoke,

“You were? Wait, is that why I’m not dead?”

Bizzly nodded.

“What happened to everyone else?”

“Why don't you look for yourself?” Condi walked towards the portal to his domain, which contained a window into the mortal world.

Charlie saw the boat.

It was heading towards Quesadilla island.

His found family was on it, he knew.

They were safe.

But he’d miss them.

And Flippa needed him.

So did Mariana.

“Can I visit them?” He looked back up at Condi, who sighed,

“I thought you might ask that. I’m working on setting up a new transportation system so we can travel freely between Quesadilla Island and Molympus. But for now, I’ll let you watch from here.”

←-→

“Bobby! Bobby Chingon!” Charlie laughed as he watched the eggs run around with Grizzly’s pack of wolves.

Tilin ran up, their golden wings flapping behind them happily. No blood, no yolk anywhere. They were happy. Everything is okay.

‘Here!’ Tilin held out a red flower. A poppy. The flower of forgiveness.

“For me? Thank you…” Charlie smiled at the flower as the little dragon ran away again. They forgave him…

Charlie looked up again and saw Tilin with Grizzly, a field of poppies growing around them as they spoke. They were cared for here.

“Charlie! You have a visitor!” Condi yelled from the portal.

“What..?” Charlie stood up, pushing the puppies from his lap with a soft ‘sorry’ and walked over to his brother.

Through the portal, he could see brown wings…

“Mariana!” He cried, running through the doorway.

“Charlie!” Mariana turned around, Flippa in hand, a wide smile on his face.

“Flippa!” Charlie grabbed his daughter from his wife’s hands and Flippa chirped.

‘I didn’t know you were a god!’ Flippa signed, looking up at him with wonder

“Nobody did! Not until- Well, you know,” He laughed.

“The Doorway to Quesadilla island is almost done!” Condi smiled at the family, his purple tail swishing behind him, “Oh, and Mariana, Since you did your job, you're being promoted.”

“What? But I barely-”

Condi shushed him, “Don't worry about it… We just need another Demi-god, and you're the best for the job” he whispered.

“Anyway, Come here,” Condi motioned for the family to follow, and walked back through the portal.

←-→

Grizzly, Condi, Bizzly, and Slime stood around a stone platform, with Mariana in the middle.

The residents of Bizzly’s domain watched from the sidelines.

“Mariana, do you promise to follow our pledge and, uhh, listen to us when we tell you to do stuff? I guess?” Bizzly asked

“I promise” Mariana looked confused. And rightfully so, these ceremonies were never planned out.

“Great! You will be the Demi-god of Love!” Grizzly barked

“You’ll work under the God of Magic, and supervise the realm known as Quesadila Island.” Condi was the next to speak, his-

wait-

“What?” Charlie looked over at his brothers, causing some of the eggs to giggle,

“I thought you might like for her to be closer to you, instead of under us. And besides, we all already have Demi-gods to control.” Condi smiled

“Oh, alright,” Charlie was still surprised, but he continued, “You will be working under me, so I expect you to, uhh, Help me with stuff. I think.

“Okay,” Mariana chuckled

“Alright, this might hurt a bit, but you’ll need a new form” Charlie warned, before letting magic wash over his wife.

She screamed, startling the eggs and causing Jaiden to shriek too. Charlie always hated this part, but it was necessary. She’d be alright in the end…

When the ritual was over, Mariana looked almost the same, except that she had a lot more feathers than before; patches on her arms and face, and they were dark grey and brown instead of their former lighter brown. She was wearing her yellow jumpsuit again, and her eyes were back to their normal brown, framed with yellow glasses. She also had a splayed tail, greyish brown in color with a lighter undertone.

She stood up from her position on the floor and stretched her wings, her flight feathers reaching almost four feet out.

Charlie heard a beep from Condi’s Communicator and turned to a delighted look on his face.

“It’s finished!”

Chapter Text

Falling.

The familiar feeling of traveling from Molympus.

But it always scared Charlie.

This time, though, he had his family with him.

Mariana and Flippa were falling with him, beside him. They were there for him.

Even though the fall only took half a second, it always felt like a million years to Charlie.

“Charlie?” Phil was at spawn when they arrived, and so were Tallulah and Chayanne. They were all alright.

Chayanne drew his sword. Thats fair. He’d be the one to challenge a god.

Charlie motioned for Flippa to go play with the other eggs and turned his attention back to Phil.

“Hi, Phil. I’m back..!” Charlie smiled hopefully, then yelped as Phil punched his arm.

“You can’t scare us like that, Charlie! We thought you were dead!”

Charlie laughed “I’d never die! I’m-”

“Hold on, I'm texting foolish.” Phil interrupted him, typing something on his communicator.

Almost thirty seconds later, Foolish came running up behind Charlie, crying like only a totem could “I THOUGHT YOU DIED!”

Charlie turned around to stop the totem from bowling him over but still almost fell over with the force of the hug.

The world was alright.

JShlatt was defeated again,

And with the new transportation system to Molympus, the Immortals would be able to visit their loved ones at any time.

And even if there were still many obstacles to come, they would get through it together

Becasue everything was okay.

Everyone was okay.

The world was alright.

Charlie was with his family.

And the future looked brighter
