Soulmates are linked by colorful threads from red to green. Romantic soulmates are linked by red threads and have each other's names on their wrists. Said names are written in the soulmate's home country native language.

South America' primary language was Spanish. Antarctica had no human inhabitants. Soulmates always found their way to each other.
Jack Zimmermann and Eric 'Bitty' Bittle were surprised to discover their soulmates' names written in english and french respectively. Their parents were bewildered but managed to help them discover the language their names were written in. They wouldn't be meeting him just yet. But someday they would find them...

Chapter Text
Zimmermann residence, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, North America;
Jack had a happy childhood growing up in Montreal, Quebec with his parents Bob and Alicia. One day, he gained a new brother in Kent. Kent played with him on the junior team, and he easily became part of the family. Jack was happy to finally have another kid he could play with. His soulmark was in English, but it was clearly regional dialect.
As he grew up, he wanted to realize his NHL dreams. However, he struggled with anxiety and pressure of maintaining his grades, training, and networking with different feeder teams in the AHL.
Bittle household, Madison, Georgia, United States of America;
Eric was born to Rick and Suzanne Bittle in Madison, Georgia. He had a fairly normal childhood. His soulmark was written in French. Eric was close to his grandma; he affectionately called her MooMaw. Bitty loved baking pies and cookies with MooMaw. It was the way he bonded with her, and soon, baking was a major part of his life.
general hospital, Montreal, 2009;
One day, the stress got the best of Jack and he took one too many pills. Kent discovered him nearly dead on the floor of his bedroom. Jack woke up in the hospital. Because of the nature of his hospitalization, he was placed in the mental hospital. He would miss the Draft.
Jack was devastated, but he knew he couldn't go right back down the path that led him here. He decided to go to college and at least hope he could get a spot in a decent feeder team and then the NHL.
Samwell University Campus, Samwell, Massachusetts, United States of America, 2011;
Jack and Shitty met at Samwell. They hit it off right away, becoming best friends. He moved in with Shitty when he was invited to the team house. They were inseparable, often sneaking out together or training together.
the freshmen dorms, Samwell University Campus, 2013;
Two years later in 2013, Eric started his freshman year at Samwell. He was on a hockey scholarship. Like many of the freshmen, he was naive, but he was eager. He was excited to see what he could accomplish.
Chapter 3: First Impressions
Summary:
Eric moves in the frat house with the team.

Chapter Text
Samwell-Haus frat house, Samwell College Campus;
Eric met some of his teammates when he took a pecan pie to Samwell-Haus frat house. Shitty, Jack, Holster, Ransom, and the goalie John Johnston were living there. Ransom and Holster practically pounced on the pie.
He easily became a favorite freshman with his baking skills and his friendliness. Still, he wasn't able to really get to know his captain.
the cafeteria, Samwell College Campus;
The next morning, Eric met the captain of Samwell Men Hockey team and his soulmate Jack Zimmermann.
"You need to eat more protein." Jack said.
'He did not just say that!' Eric was miffed.
"I know I'm short, but you didn't need to remind me!" the freshman huffed.
"No, kid. I mean you need more protein or you'll be ready to eat a horse after practice," Jack replied.
Eric's eyebrows furrowed. "What?"
"Coach is doing endurance drills, and we're running plays. Eat now or forever hold your peace," Shitty replied. "Come on, Jack. Let's get a other bite to eat."
Eric stared after his captain and his friend. What an impression.
Faber ice skating rink, Samwell College Campus;
Coach Murray and Coach Hall went over the rules and policies with the team.
Murray started, "No harassment. For anything. We find you harassing teammates, peers, professors, and random animal, you're out!"
Hall added, "In addition, too many penalty minutes gets you a suspension not only from the division but also the team. Play hard but be fair."
"We are here to play and win, but never at the expense of our standards," Murray stated. "You show up, you're on time, you give it your all. If you get injured, you are benched immediately. No argument."
"Okay, on the ice, let's go!"
Faber ice skating rink;
Jack helped Bitty overcome his phobia of checking. They got up at 5AM in the morning and went to the ice rink to practice. Coach Murray pointed out how gun shy the kid was, so Jack stepped up. He didn't go easy, but he didn't hound Bitty either. He just needed him to get confident, otherwise he wouldn't last in the college level.
Chapter 4: In Town

a local bar, Samwell, Massachusetts, 2013-2014;
Time marched by, and 2013 turned into 2014. Bitty confided in Shitty that he was gay. Holster and Ransom set Bitty up with someone. Sadly, the date didn't go as planned. Bitty and the others caught Jack watching an Aces game. They walked up to him at the bar, startling him.
"Okay, you two need to talk," Holster said, taking the Shirley Temple he was sipping on. "Ransom and I are going home. Get home safe."
"Wait!" Bitty said but the pair were already in the wind.
Samwell College Campus;
Jack and Bitty cleared up all misunderstandings between them. They were working on getting to know each other. They knew they couldn't keep bickering with each other if they wanted the team to get stronger.
Time flew by, before they knew it, the 2013 - 2014 year ended, and a new year began. Johnson graduated and gave Bitty his room. Bitty moved in and was driving Jack up the wall with his daily singing in the shower. Shitty and Jack were planning for the future. Shitty was trying to get into Harvard, while NHL teams were trying to recruit Jack. Jack was trying to decide which team to sign with.
He talked with his parents and Kent frequently, and Kent found him a good agent to review his options. Bitty just hung around less in the room while Jack threw himself into deciding his professional future.
off campus of Samwell;
Shitty and Lardo hung out. The pair got some ice cream before going to a record store. They picked out music for each other and enjoyed the afternoon away from the locker room and campus.
first floor of Samwell-Haus frat house, Samwell College Campus, Dec 2014;
In December, a couple of days before winter break; Holster and Ransom decided to throw an Epikegester. Kent arrived, looking for Jack.
"Jackie! Missed me?" Kent chirped as he arrived. Jack groaned and face palmed.
"Don't call me that, Kenny!" Jack hissed as he eyed the evilly grinning duo of Holster and Ransom.
"You call me Jackie, and I will make sure Coach not only makes you run drills but also makes you clean the jockstraps."
Holster gasped, "You -"
"Absolutely would," Ransom said. "Okay, Cap."
"Good talk, boys," Jack grinned before turning and stopping. "But feel free to call my brother Kenny. He hates it."
"On it, Cap!" came the reply.

Chapter Text
Samwell College, Samwell, Massachusetts;
Time flew by with 2014 turned into 2015. Graduation finally arrived. Holster, Ransom, Bitty, and Lardo watched as Shitty and Jack walked across the stage and were given their diplomas. They cheered them on with the crowd and took unflattering pictures. Still, they would print these out and stick them into the scrapbooks they made.
the campus, Samwell College;
After caps were thrown and cheers filled the stadium, they rushed down to the meeting spot designated for visitors and graduates. They hugged each other and shed some tears.
"You did it!" Bitty cheered, throwing his arms around Jack and hugging him.
Shitty pretended to gag, "PDA still on restriction, Bits. We're still on campus."
Bitty put up his middle finger and blew a kiss. Shitty, still pretending, grabbed it and press it to his chest.
"Come on," Holster said. "I got us a table at that buffet. If we aren't there in thirty minutes, they'll make us wait again."
"Cheap food. Just like college," Ransom chuckled while they all piled into two cars.
Bitty's bedroom, Samwell-Hau frat house;
Jack and Bitty met in Bitty's dorm room. Bitty had been packing when Jack took him by surprise by kissing him. Bitty easily kissed him back and rocked him slowly.
"Oh, yeah. Our agreement," Bitty happily sighed when Jack pulled him away.
"Yes, our agreement. Bittle, would you like to me my boyfriend?" Jack sighed happily.
Bitty leaned in, his own smile large. "Absolutely."
the family room area, Alexei's place, Providence, Rhode Island;
Alexei and Kent had some alone time. Kent had come to Providence to visit Alexei with Kit in tow. The mates introduced their pets to each other.
"Meet Katya, Kit." Kent smiled. Kit and Katya sniffed at each other with Katya sneezing a few times. She patted away and walked down to her stack of toys and brought one to the cat. Kit batted a few times before rolling it. Katya, repeating before, grabbed it and brought it back for the cat to swat down the hall in a little game.
"I think they like each other," Kent smiled happily.
the family room;
Alexei and Kent had some alone time. The pets were down for their nap in the sun, leaving their parents to cuddle. Kent was tired from the travel, so he laid on Alexei. Alexei rubbed his back as he napped. This was pure domestic bliss.
Bittle homestead, Madison, Georgia;
Jack visited Bitty in Madison. He introduced himself to Bitty's mom, Suzanne, with his nerves threatening to choke him.
"You're too polite, darling. Is a hug okay?" she beamed. Jack released a sigh of relief and fell into her arms. She laughed and patted his back.
"Come in before the mosquitoes chew us up," she said. "I just made some Arnold Palmers. I haven't made lunch yet."
"Let Jack pick, Ma," Bitty suggested.
"We've got chicken, ham, turkey, and pimento cheese if you want a sandwich. I do think your father finished up the brisket and we have barbecue sauce if that is more your speed," she offered. "There are also fresh tomatos for other sandwiches. Goodness gracious, I think we only have sandwich things."
Jack chuckled, "A turkey sandwich sounds good."
"I'll take the brisket. Let me help you get the stuff together," Bitty offered. Jack followed smiling and noticeably more relaxed.
Chapter 6: Media Days

Chapter Text
the first floor of Samwell-Haus frat house, Samwell College Campus, Samwell, Massachusetts;
Three months later, the 2015 - 2016 school year began. Bitty was a junior, while Lardo, Holster, and Ransom were seniors. Nursey, Dex, and Chowder were sophomores. They came back to campus early for training camp and had settled right back into the house easily. They also planned the first weekend party of the year.
the weights room, Providence Falconers training arena facility, Providence, Rhode Island;
Alexei starred in a video for the Providence Falconers. He went around and filmed the new training facility. He spotted Jack and went over to him.
"Zimmboni!" Tater greeted.
"Oh, hi, Tater." Jack smiled. They bumped fists before Jack took off his wrist guards. They were in the weight room with Jack doing some warm ups before going to the deadlift bar.
"Need a spot?" Tater offered. Jack shook his head.
"Nothing heavy. Just doing some warm ups," he replied.
"Alright. See you later?"
"Later, Tater. Bye, guys," Jack smiled at the camera and waved.
Providence Falconers training arena facility, Providence;
Tater walked around the facility, taking videos on his phone. The camera panned over to show Guy, Thirdy, and Marty eating in the nook. A video showed Poots and Snowy in the training rooms with the surprised trainer. Poots was seated next to an annoyed Snowy.
"And this is our resident ghost goalie Snowy and our Rookie Poots in the trainer's office. When will you be getting that plaque with your name on it, Snowy?" Alexei teased.
"Haha, Tater Tot," Snowy replied. "What brings you to my humble abode?"
"Video for the new season. Smile," Alexei laughed before continuing the tour.
Bitty's bedroom, second floor of Samwell-Haus frat house, Samwell, Massachusetts;
Jack and Bitty talked over Skype. The pair each had their dinner with Jack eating pasta, and Bitty eating wings from a nearby shop. Bitty described the new training center and all of its perks to Jack. Jack pretended to be jealous, but he knew it took a lot to get the center built and that meant a lot of university videos.
While he liked his alma mater, he was not cut out for nonstop media days.
a local diner, off campus, Samwell, Massachusetts;
A few months later, Jack and Bitty met with Shitty, Lardo, Holster, and Ransom at a diner. Jack and Bitty dropped their bombshell.
"We're dating." Jack said. When their friends didn't react, Jack sighed.
"You knew already."
"Well," Lardo began, putting down her shake, "you aren't terribly careful with the PDA."
Bitty replied, "PDA?"
"Y'know? The hugs and kisses?" Holster replied.
"When did you see us kiss?" Jack said. "Are you spying on us?"
Ransom shook his head, "No. We saw you kiss outside the buffet. When we left to pay the check after you did, we came out and there you were, just smooching."
"We didn't get together until that night though," Bitty added. Shitty spoke up.
"It was inevitable, buddy. We're just happy for you," he reassured. Jack took his boyfriend's hand and squeezed.
Everything is all good.
Chapter 7: Not Surprising

the living room, Samwell-Haus frat house, Samwell College Campus, Samwell, Massachusetts;
Jack and Bitty sat the frogs, Dex, Nursey, and Chowder, down to break the news to them.
"What?! You two are dating?!" Dex was shocked.
"Cool!" Chowder chirped. Nursey was unphrased.
Bitty asked, "Nursey?"
"I'm not surprised," the frog admitted.
"What?!" his fellow rookies said.
Nursey explained, "I just had a feeling. Nothing specifically gave you away to me."
"You're going off vibes?" Jack chuckled.
"I usually do." Nursey replied.
Bitty's bedroom, the second floor of the Samwell-Haus frat house;
Jack and Bitty had some alone time. Bitty rested after taking some loaves of banana bread out. He'd spent most of the weekend making jams and jarring them, so Jack insisted he sit until the bread was cooled. It was nice to rest and get some time back. The new season would be hectic as the school wants returns for the investment of the new facility. Bitty was going to enjoy every bit of this moment.
the nook, Providence Falconers training arena, Providence, Rhode Island;
Jack met with George and the other Falconers. Jack brought in three loaves of the bread to the locker room.
"Zimmboni, what you got there?" Tater asked.
"Banana bread. My, uh, boyfriend made it for the team," he answered, waiting for a response. Instead, his teammates rushed up to wash their hands and get a slice. They all took a bite of their slices.
"Oh, my goodness," their goalkeeper trainer moaned. "Your boyfriend is better than Betty Crocker."
Jack smiled, "Yeah, he learned it from his grandma."
"Oh, we can tell. Only a grandma can make something this good," George replied.
"So... you don't care I am with a guy?" Jack wanted to know.
"What? Zimmerman, that doesn't matter here," Guy reassured, dusting the crumbs from his fingers before patting his rookie's back. "We're here to play a game together and support each other. No one has time for that shit."
"Besides soulmates comes in all forms. Tater here has a male soulmate." Snowy added.
"And you'll tell us if anyone gives you shit for it, right? Fan, foe, or teammate," his captain Sebastien 'Marty' St. Martin approached. Jack nodded. "Good kid. Tell your boyfriend we said thank you. He made our day."
Jack smiled and took his own slice. It was a relief.
the locker rooms, ice rink, Samwell College Campus, Samwell, Massachusetts;
Nursey and Dex were fighting again. They hurled angry accusations at each other ranging from sabotaging each other's gear or a snide comment. Ollie and Wicky dragged them away, both visibly annoyed with their latest fight. It was starting to become a regular occurrence. Like clockwork, they would find a reason to jump down each other's throats.
the living room, first floor of Samwell-Haus frat house, Samwell College Campus;
Chowder met with Bitty and Tango. Chowder was visibly annoyed.
"If Nursey and Dex doesn't get their acts together, I'm locking them in a closet!" Chowder vowed. Tango rubbed his eyes.
"What was it this time?" Bitty asked.
"Please tell me it isn't about hogging grip tape," Tango added.
"That was last week," Chowder groaned. "I don't even know this time. I leave to go meet with the PT and next thing I know, Ollie and Wicky are pissed and threatening to quit the team."
"Shit, is it that bad?" Bitty said. "Maybe we can't wait anymore if people are going to quit."
Chowder nodded, "I guess so."

Chapter Text
the grounds of Samwell College Campus, Samwell, Massachusetts;
In May of 2017, Bitty graduated from Samwell. His parents, Holster, Ransom, Jack, Shitty, and Lardo attended the ceremony. Bitty gave a speech.
"I am thankful for your support as I worked my way through Samwell. I will not pretend it was easy, but y'all being there made the difference," he beamed. Jack kissed his hand and his parents smiled up at him.
"We're proud of you, Eric," his mother smiled. She finished paying for the check for their lunch before turning back to him. "Where are you boys off to?"
Jack answered, "One last skate. You okay with that?" His eyes didn't leave Bitty.
"Of course. Have fun!" Eric's father Rick Bittle smiled.
Faber ice skating rink, Samwell College Campus;
Jack and Bitty took one final skate. As they circled the ice, Jack pretended to hang back to tie his skate.
"Go around. I'll meet you when you get back to this side," he reassured Bitty. Bitty kissed his cheek before speeding away. As his boyfriend made it directly across from him, he had the box out. When his boyfriend slowed down at his side, still on his knee, he proposed.
"Jack," Bitty softly sighed, his eyes already full of tears.
"Eric Bittle, you are remarkable. You are smart, athletic, a star baker, and a loving man. I would be a fool if I didn't solidify what I already knew." Jack began.
"And that's what?" the other man answered, his voice cracking.
"I want to spend my every breath for the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" he finished.
Bitty promptly fainted with Jack catching him under his arms.
"So, is that a yes? I can't tell," Jack nervously laughed as Bitty came to. With his cheeks burning bright, Bitty replied.
"Of course. Yes!" The ring on his finger, he pulled him into his arms and cried.
Faber ice skating rink;
Holster, Ransom, Shitty, Chowder, Nursey, Dex, Tater, and Kent had front row seats to Jack's proposal and Bitty accepted his proposal. They hopped up and cheered with Holster and Dex wiping their faces.
"Are you okay?" Jack asked them. They nodded but kept crying.
"That's their way of saying they are happy for you," Chowder answered, pulling out tissues. "I came prepared for this."
a local restaurant, downtown Boston;
Shitty and Lardo went on a date. As they waited for their dim sum order, Shitty showed Lardo the many pictures he took of the engagement.
"Bitty fainted?" Lardo asked, pointing at a picture of a folded over Eric on the camera. Her boyfriend stifled a laugh and nodded.
"That's not even the first time he'd done that. When he found out his honor's thesis was accepted, we had to get the smelling salts."
Lardo laughed and moved the camera as the egg tart cart came around. "Our friends are so odd."
"But we love them." came the reply.
"Yes, we do." Lardo smiled.
a local restaurant, Providence, Rhode Island;
Jack and Bitty met Bob, Alicia, and Kent for dinner. Jack and Bitty announced their engagement and Kent sheepishly confessed that he was married. Bob and Alicia were shocked at the news and happy. Alicia was also unamused with Kent. She had been looking fowards to planning her children's respective weddings.
"Who's the groom?" Bob wanted to know.
"My soulmate Alexei Mashkov." Kent answered.
Alicia replied, "And let me guess? Your brother and Eric were there." Jack stared ahead as her eyes burned into the side of his head. If he didn't look at her, she couldn't scold him. That's what he told himself.
Kent spoke up, "Sorry, Mom. If it helps, Alexei and I want an actual wedding when we are able to get his parents into the States."
Alicia seemed to relax. "Okay. That I will accept. I'm just glad you're happy."
Kent smiled at his family. "I am."
Chapter 9: Planning

Here's Ch 8, the epi will be posted next.
Chapter Text
a local coffee shop, Providence, Rhode Island;
A few days later, Bitty met with Alicia and Suzanne at a coffee shop to plan their wedding. They knew they wanted the wedding in 2019, but Jack and Bitty were oscillating between different times of the year. They knew the season dates, but there was still four months in the year available to them.
"Do you have a theme?" Suzanne asked.
"We are thinking a flower garden theme. Like at Grandma's house," Bitty answered. Alicia patted his hand.
"That sounds beautiful. At least one of you is up to plan." she replied.
Bitty chuckled, "I think Jack is afraid of Alicia after Kent decided to elope."
Alicia nodded, "He should be. There will be a wedding this time."
a local cafe;
Alexei and Kent went on a date. The couple spent the afternoon working out and now they needed to refuel. After showering, they walked to their favorite cafe and ordered the sandwich meal with house made chips and delicious cake. They enjoyed the meal before Kent kissed Alexei goodbye.
"I'm going to see Jack and hopefully start planning the groomsmen suits," he told Alexei. "Give the pets a kiss for me?"
"Of course." Alexei replied.
the family room, Shitty and Lardo's place, Boston, Massachusetts;
Jack hung out with Shitty and Kent at Shitty's place. Lardo was at her studio. Jack was also hiding from their mothers. Shitty was slightly amused.
"I eloped, maybe you could do the same?" Kent suggested it to his brother.
"Nice idea, but our moms will kill us. Plus you're still in trouble with Maman." Jack pointed out.
Shitty snorted, "You set one hell of an example, Kent."
"And now she is taking out all that missed energy on your wedding on me." Jack complained.
Kent chuckled, "She is out with Bitty, but you can't run away from her forever." Jack glared.
"Oh, I can't wait for your wedding party planning. Maybe she will bring out that giant binder."
"Binder?" Shitty asked.
"Yeah, a massive binder full of ideas and suits and dinner courses with sections for me and you," Jack smirked. Kent started to sweat.
"Maybe you're right to be afraid." he had to admit.
the family room, Jack and Bitty's place, Providence, Rhode Island;
Jack and Bitty had some alone time. The couple cuddled up once Bitty was back home.
"Did my mom terrify you?" Jack said. Bitty shook his head.
"She was really nice. She was really excited about the theme we picked."
"She didn't bring the binder?" Jack said.
Bitty looked at him, "You know that was a joke right?" Jack shook his head.
"The next time we have dinner with my folks, I'll ask her to share the binder. She made it when we both got our soulmark."
a local restaurant;
That evening, Jack and Bitty met Holster, Ransom, Shitty, Lardo, Kent, and the Falcs. They announced their engagement and were swarmed with congratulations. Then Tater and Kent announced that they had eloped.
"There's going to be a press conference about it soon." Kent explained to the others.
Lardo nodded, "So a full social media lockdown is in order?"
"Yeah. We won't talk to the press without you there. They asked some weird questions when you and Alexei came out," Ransom said.
Coach nodded, "You got it, kid. No posts or you ride the bench for the first half of the season."
Chapter 10: Epilogue
Summary:
Jack and Bitty finally say "I do."

Here's the epi and the last update for this series for now. I'm switching to TNG next.
Chapter Text
a room at Moomaw's cottage, Madison, Georgia, 2019;
2019 arrived and with it, Jack and Bitty's wedding day. Bitty got ready with Lardo and Suzanne's help. Bitty's grandmother's backyard was decorated with many flowers and decor. Lardo was his best woman, her dress matching the suits of the rest of the groomsmen. He was smiling, his eyes misting as he got overwhelmed.
"Are you okay, dear?" Suzanne asked.
"I'm marrying my best friend," he sighed happily before flinching. He turned to Lardo.
"Ow!" he protested.
"I don't see a ring on my finger, so you can't be marrying your best friend," she playfully glared. Bitty rolled his eyes and hugged her.
"I'm seriously glad you're happy," Lardo smiled.
*****
Jack and Kent were getting ready on the other side of the house. They had on tuxedos.
"You look good, kid," Kent smiled as he fixed Jack's collar.
"I feel good," Jack smiled. "I'm getting married today."
Kent fixed his hair and hugged him. "I'm so proud of you. You really have something special."
the backyard of Moomaw's place;
Jack and Bitty were married. Shitty performed the ceremony his hair perfectly groomed. It took a couple weeks of work, but he was able to get his license to officiate a year ago. He kept things short as he knew his friends were just so excited to be married.
Kent and Lardo handed them the rings and Shitty had them sign the license right away.
"I now pronounce you both man and husband. You may kiss," he beamed. Claps erupted as Jack and Bitty rushed into each other's arms for sweet kisses.
wedding reception, a building in downtown Madison;
The wedding reception took place in a room that Bob and Alicia rented for the venue. They were scared of breaking the different precious pictures that were in their grandmother's house, so they outsourced the party. There was a dance floor and a deejay played music.
The wedding party sat at a table overlooking the room. Jack and Bitty were seated side by side. Shitty, Kent, and Lardo all had seats up there. Alexei has been permitted to sit at the head table. They smiled as they talked over their dinner.
The menu consisted of ribs, potato salad, grilled corn, mac and cheese, grilled chicken, and hot dogs. It was all summer fare that Bitty grew up with. There also options set aside for people that couldn't eat meat or pork.
The cake was 6 layers with different flavors; vanilla, chocolate, strawberries & cream, raspberry lemon, red velvet and funfetti. There was even peach & cream macarons to go with the cake. The desserts flew off the table and the cake cutting was a small, personalized cake that Bitty insisted on baking just for him and his husband.
Jack and Bitty's wedding reception;
The guests laughed as they either mingled or danced. After the first dance, the club playlist Dex and Holster put together played. They had all the party classics from their Samwell days at the ready. There were drinks and bad dance moves galore.
Jack and Bitty couldn't ask for anything better.
Jack and Bitty's hotel suite, a local hotel in Madison;
Later that night, in their hotel room, Jack and Bitty had some alone time.
The soulmates had come a long way since their first meeting six years ago. From strangers to friends to soulmates. Now they was married and looking to spending the rest of their lives together.
