    “Hey, Iz,” Edward says, “Roach and them are here.”

    The bare foot remains limp and pale where it hangs. Ed notices it and reaches across the hammock to lift it and move it back inside.
    Hands doesn’t make a sound.

    “He’s not feelin’ great,” Ed says. “Tuckered himself out on deck.”

    Roach imagines Hands slamming open the brig grate with both guns blazing and his crutch barely clinging to his armpit.

    Yeah, he supposes a mutiny’s a big day for most people.
