Summary:

Kamika after seeing Abigail and Sebastian dance at the flower dance gets stuck in her head. This is a total distraction to what is a normal fun hangout between her and her new friends. Her actions have started to make Sebastian worry about her despite what Sam tells him.

Work Text:

Today was the day, Kamika had been trying to get the courage to ask Sebastian. Here he stood in front of her dressed in a suit. Her heart couldn’t help but thumb at how nice he looked. She talked to everyone else in town to push off asking him. He looks over at her and smiles.

“You look beautiful Mika,” he tells.

“Thank you. You do too. Handsome I mean well you could be beautiful too if you want,” Mika rabbles on.

She curses herself looking down at her shoes. but Sebastian just chuckles and smiles more.

“I’ll take both,” He chuckles.

She looks back up getting ready to ask but stops when she sees him looking over at Abigail. Abigail looks up and waves at him as Mika’s courage deflates right there.

“Is there something else you need?” He asks his attention back on the girl in front of him.

“Ah. No just saying hi to everyone. I should go talk to Mayor Lewis. Um. Later,” She smiles at him.

The smile turns into a slight frown as she turns away from him. She walks away as Sebastian watches after her with worry. Kamika’s mind couldn’t help but be filled with what he and Abby could be. They liked each other at the very least that was sure. Kamika stood with the others as the younger adults danced, she could not help but look off towards the woods instead of where everyone else was looking. Sebastian looked through the crowd spotting Kamika standing off a bit by herself. He wondered and worried why she had a sad look on her face.

“Sebastian you stepped on my foot,” Abigail complains.

“Oh. Sorry Abby,” He laughs a little.

He looks away from his friend to bring his attention back to his dance partner.

It was a Friday night Kamika was hanging out with her new friends Sam, Abigail, and Sebastian down at the saloon. She was sitting next to Abigail, the two were waiting for both of the boys to make it to their hangout. At the moment she is closer to Sam than Sebastian and Abigail but she thinks that the friendship between them all is getting there. Her attraction to Sebastian can make her shy at times, not wanting to say the wrong thing. She was telling Abigail about how her farm when Sebastian walked up to them.

“Hey, Seb-” Mika starts.

Abigail jumped up meeting Sebastian halfway, the two were talking about something but Kamika couldn't hear it. She was too much into her head, it seemed like what she thought at the flower dance was right. Those two liked each other. It makes sense they have known each other all their lives while she was a new person just barging in. She felt her heart tighten and her might couldn’t stop picturing the two together. Sebastian looks over at Mika as she stares off into space just as Sam walks up towards them.

“What’s wrong with her?” He asks.

“Mika? Oh, not again,” Sam sighs.

“Again,” Abigail asks.

“She’s stuck overthinking again,” Sam explains.

Sam walks up to Kamika poking her in the cheek.

“Hello Earth to Mika,” Sam says loudly.

When she doesn’t snap out of it he smirks at the idea he just had. He leans down so he can whisper in her ear not wanting anyone else to hear.

“Dear Mika. Your cutest emo boy Sebastian is looking at you with worry,” He whispers.

Kamika snaps out of it turning a huge shade of her. She looks over to Sebastian to meet her eyes looking at her with pure confusion in his face. She looks back over at Sam and starts smacking his arm lightly.

“Y-You said you wouldn’t tell anyone you overheard that,” She hisses.

Sam can’t stop chuckling as he tries to get her to stop hitting him. Sebastian looks from the two to Abigail who looks as confused as him.

“When did they get so close?” Sebastian asks.

“I don’t know. But honestly, Aren’t they kinda cute? Don’t you think?” Abigail asks.

“Um… I don’t know. I thought Sam liked someone else.”

Sebastian looks back at the two who are both sitting on the couch together. Sam seemed to be begging for forgiveness while Kamika turned away from the blonde boy. Aren’t they cute? Aren’t they cute? Aren’t they cute? Abigail’s words echoed in his mind not leaving at all. Getting louder and louder, he wanted it to quit.

“Come on. I’m sorry I’ll buy you a-,” Sam starts.

“Sam,” Sebastian shouts.

Everyone looks over at him a bit of shock and confusion on their face. Sebastian smiles cheekily at his best friend.

“Are you ready to lose again tonight?” He chuckles.

“That’s what you think,” Sam laughs.

The two boys played pool together while the girls were watching. Abigail was asking Mika about the mines since she wanted to always try going in there. But Kamika’s thoughts were too loud.

“Sorry, Abby. I’m going to go get a drink,” Mika tells.

“No problem. I’ll just watch the boys,” Abigail hums.

Kamika walks over to the bar sitting down. Emily walked up to her to get her order which was a beer. She thanks Emily putting the bottle up to her lips. Taking a sip she scrunches up her nose and then downs the whole thing. She calls for another one as she looks over at Sebastian leaning over to make his shot. He makes one in and smiles proudly to himself. Sam complains as Abigail laughs at the two. Mika looks away as her second round gets here. Sebastian looks over at the bar as he waits for his turn. He watches as Mika is downing another drink.

“Um. Sam,” He starts.

“If you’re trying to distract me. It won’t work buddy,” Sam chuckles.

The two keep playing but Sebastian can’t help but worry about his friend who seems to be drinking more than she can handle. He wondered why she was going so hard, she normally couldn’t finish one.

“I did it! I finally won,” Sam Cheers.

His attention pops back onto Sam.

“What,” He asks.

“Don’t be so distracted next time,” Sam jokes.

“I wasn’t,” Sebastian argues.

“Saaaaam.”

All three of them turned to their friend who was clearly drunk. Kamika walks up to Sam and starts hugging him around his shoulders leaning on him.

“You promise you won’t tell anyone right,” She asks.

“Yeah, dude. I was just teasing you. I thought you didn’t like alcohol what happened,” He asks.

“You promise,” She whines.

“Yeah yeah. Ugh why are you a clingy drunk,” He complains.

Sebastian’s stomach starts doing flips. When did those two get that close, why was she that close to him? Abigail walks over to Kamika laughing a little.

“Here let me take you home, Mika,” She giggles.

Kamika looks over to Abigail who is holding out her hand. She grabs it as Abigail starts leading her out of the building.

“I can’t blame you. You’re beautiful, did you know?” Mika tells her.

“Thank you. You’re beautiful too,” Abigail giggles.

The boys watch both the girls leave to head back to the farm before Mika can pass out.

“You two seem close,” Sebastian probes.

“Oh yeah. She has been asking for boy advice lately,” Sam explains.

“Boy trouble?” He asks.

“Yeah, she’s crazy about this guy. But it’s not something I can really share. Why do you ask?”

Sam looks at Sebastian who looks away quickly.

“No reason really. I hope we can all be good friends together,” He states.

“I’m sure she would be an amazing best friend. But is that what you want?” Sam asks.

“What. You know I like Abby. I have since we started being friends with her in high school,” He insists.

“We’re not in high school anymore. Feelings can always change. But I’m heading out don’t need Mom mad that I was out all night. Later,” Sam tells.

“Later,” He says.

Sebastian watched his best friend leave wondering if his feelings for Kamika and Abigail were changing.
