Chapter 1: The Dragonet Prophecy
Chapter Text
When the war has lasted twenty years...
the dragonets will come.
When the land is soaked in blood and tears...
the dragonets will come.
Find the SeaWing egg of deepest blue.
Wings of night shall come to you.
The largest egg in the mountain high
will give to you the wings of sky.
For wings of earth search through the mud
for an egg the color of dragon blood.
And hidden alone from the rival queens,
the SandWing egg awaits unseen.
Of three queens who blister and blaze and burn,
two shall die and one shall learn
if she bows to a fate that is stronger and higher,
she'll have the power of wings of fire.
Five eggs to hatch on the brightest night,
five dragons born to end the fight.
Darkness will rise to bring the light.
The dragonets are coming....
(This came from the Wings Of Fire series, by Tui T. Sutherland.)

Chapter Text
A sudden flame of fire lit the room enough for a dragon to even see, the sizzling of the torch was the only thing that could be heard at that moment though. A ruby red SkyWing stared coldly down at the 5 eggs, waiting for them to hatch. A SeaWing of a light blue color, and eyes greener than seaweed couldn't even bother to think about the 5 dragonet eggs. "We have much time to spare." A very dark, tan SandWing chimed. "Penguin got the SkyWing egg very quickly, so I guess all we have to do is wait." Penguin perked her head up as she heard her name. Penguin was an odd dragon. She was a very muscley dragon, with long spikes mostly on her head, a black scales with a very white underbelly, and long wings colored like the stars. Her claws were sharper than a hawk's talon, which mindlessly scraped on the rocks. "These eggs won't be hatching anytime soon!" Penguin snarled.
"Are they even going to hatch tonight?" The SeaWing groaned, but before he could even finish his sentence, Penguin lashed forward toward the eggs, her tail flicking back and forth.
"What are you doing?!" The SeaWing roared, dashing towards Penguin. "I can do this on my own, Eel!" Penguin growled back, shoving Eel down to the ground.
"Hatch already you stupid eggs!" Penguin snarled, rocking them side to side. "Penguin, stop this!" The SkyWing hissed. Penguin didn't seem to care about what they said, as if she could only hear her own thoughts and words. As penguin rocked the eggs side to side, she had quite a lot of force on the SkyWing egg, and without warning, her talon pierced through the SkyWing eggshell!
"Get away from the eggs!" The SkyWing guardian blew a flame at Penguin, Penguin dodged quickly, yet her tail still got burned at the tip. The SkyWing lashed, and pounced on Penguin with great force, her talons clawing under the scales. "Ah!" Penguin roared. "Get off me Finch!" Penguin roared once again, sliding under Finch. The SandWing guardian growled and stepped forward between them. "Stop this fighting and Penguin, are you out of your mind?!" Penguin didn't even dare to look at Thorn, she just snarled and said, "They probably wouldn't have hatched without my help." Penguin mumbled under her breath.
The cave was still mostly dim, with only a small flame torch lighting some of it up. Finch and Penguin barely made eye contact, only staring down at the eggs. The small SkyWing hatchling was slowly crawling out of its shell, even opening its eyes. His scales were like a bright orange flame, and his eyes as blue as the sky. "I'll name him, I am the only SkyWing here." Finch said, picking up the small SkyWing. She thought about his eyes, how not only did they look like the sky, they were also the same color as a bluejays feathers... She hesitated, and then finally spoke. "His name will be Jay." Finch said, roars of agreement throughout the cave. "He has a fiery spark within him, he'll do just fine."
Notes:
Tried to get this out quick, sorry it might be a bit short. I took a break after writing down the prophecy, and now I'm here. I'll try to write another chapter tomorrow if I can. Many of these characters are very new, and in development. I hope you enjoy!
