Henren 5+1

5, Welcome home
Hen's week had been exhausting, she had done two shifts back to back and all she wanted was to get home to her family. As much as she loved Chim and the boys, she needs rest.
She walked away from her friends, sitting near the truck as she called Karen, his wife answered on the second ring.
"Honey, is everything all right?"
"Yes, I just wanted to call to see how you were doing."
Karen smiled on the other side of the phone, moving the phone to focus on Denny, who was doing some homework in his notebook, apparently her son greeted her with a "Hi mom" when he realized Hen was on the phone.
"Hey, love, what are you doing?"
"It's a science homework, mom is helping me. Is your turn over already?"
Hen nodded, leaning her body against the truck as she sighed.
"Yes, I only have a few hours left and I'll be home."
"Okay, take care mom, see you!"
After saying goodbye to Denny, who hadn't given her time to say bye to Karen before hanging up the call, Hen sighed again and got up, already preparing for the next call.
"
A few hours later Hen finally finished her shift and changed to go home, she greeted her friends and continued walking to her car, where she put her bag in the back before getting into the driver's seat, the approximately twenty minute stretch from the station to her home this time took her almost forty minutes, not only because she was so tired that she was driving slower than usual but also because she made a quick stop at Karen's favorite café and asked her for a coffee along with her favorite chocolates to give her when she got home, a habit she could not get out of even when she was so tired that she just wanted to get home and go to sleep.
When she got home Denny was still asleep and Karen was in the kitchen preparing lunch for their son's school day, her wife smiled and walked over to Hen as soon as she saw her, Hen barely had time to drop the bags and coffee on the table before Karen jumped into her arms for a kiss.
Hen sighed in the middle of the kiss, slipping one of her arms around her wife's waist to pull her closer to Hen’s body and tangling one of her hands in her hair to tilt her head up and deepen the kiss. After a few minutes of melting into each other until they ran out of air they had to pull apart and Hen took that moment to rest her forehead against Karen's, still holding her wife close to him.
Karen found herself gently stroking Hen's back, still breathing hard, and all Hen wanted to do was keep kissing her for hours lying on her bed and telling her how much she loved her, how much she loved the quiet moments when she got home after long shifts, but exhaustion was getting the better of her and just as she was about to open her mouth to tell her she loved her there was the familiar sound of bare feet on the floor moments before they were gently tapped on their side as Denny jumped on top of them to hug them.
"Good morning, Mom.
"Hi, honey, did you sleep well?
"Mmh"
Hen chuckled, feeling Denny's body lean more towards her as he fell asleep on his feet again, smiling she turned to her wife, pouting, it only took Karen five seconds before she nodded resignedly.
"Well, let him sleep with you for a while, but if he doesn't wake up for school, it's your fault.
Dropping a kiss to her wife Hen lifted Denny in her arms and headed to their bedroom, depositing her son on the soft sheets and climbing in beside him a moment later, wrapped her arms around the almost teenager and left a kiss on the crown of his head, already drifting off to sleep.

4, Flowers
If there was one thing that continued to amaze Hen even after so many years of being with Karen, it was the way the woman still managed to make her happy with every little thing.
They had spent the entire weekend going for walks with their kids, Denny was excited to take Mara to see the planetarium so that had been their first outing as a family, neither Hen nor Karen had been able to keep the smiles off their faces all day seeing their children so happy sharing a moment together.
Of course after that beautiful weekend followed a rather complicated start to the week for Hen, having a pretty tough shift that luckily had only lasted 12 hours, when she got home the first thing Hen saw was a small ball running past her feet and Mara stopping in her tracks to chase the animal, from the kitchen she could hear the clinking of the cutlery that, Hen assumed, Karen was using to prepare dinner.
Hen leaned over, lifting Mara up and leaving a small kiss on her cheek.
"Well, little girl, what are we missing now?"
Her daughter looked at her and kept quiet, hiding her face in Hen's neck, as Hen walked the remaining stretch to the kitchen she saw Denny run past, who shouted an energetic "hi, mom" not flinching to stop her pace as he continued to chase the animal. As she entered the kitchen Karen smiled at her, letting out a sigh as she moved closer to Hen to leave a kiss on her lips.
"Hi, honey, how was your shift?"
"Mmm, hello love, there was a fire, it took up a lot of time in the field so it left us all exhausted, will someone tell me who our new friend is or will I have to guess alone?"
Her wife smiled apologetically at her, tilting her head toward Mara to indicate to Hen that it had been her idea before she began to speak.
"Well... we were downtown after picking up the kids from their cousin's house, and we came across a box full of kittens, they weren't newborns but they were small," Karen turned off the stove and then went over to pat Mara's back, "So we decided to take them to the vet, the doctor told us they were healthy, that they should have been there only minutes, and offered us to keep one of them."
"I chose it!" Mara's voice near her ear made Hen flinch a little, which she disguised by stroking her daughter's back, placing her hand on top of Karen's.
"Well, I haven't seen it yet but I'm sure it's beautiful. Now, why don't you go help Denny catch it while I talk to mom?"
"Of course." Hen lowered Mara, who in a matter of seconds disappeared behind her brother.
Sighing Hen leaned her body towards Karen, her wife gave her a kiss on the cheek and reached a little to the side to grab something, pulling apart a little and turning her eyes towards what Karen was showing her Hen couldn't help but grin from ear to ear seeing the bouquet of flowers her wife held out to her. She grabbed it, gawking at the flowers before lunging towards her wife for a kiss, Karen was trapped between Hen's body and the countertop as the two shared a slow kiss. As their lips parted Hen leaned further, if she could, into Karen's space, hugging her wife tightly as she sighed happily, wanting to tell her how much she loved every time she brought her these details she gave her without having a special occasion and how happy it made Hen, but just as she was about to tell Karen that there was a loud thump and the sound of the cat screaming.
Grimacing, Hen turned to address the children as she heard a low "I'm sorry" from her wife, which Hen was sure was not true.
3, Morning
One of Hen's favorite times of the day was when she was just waking up, the feeling of being able to enjoy her wife's body asleep next to her, or when Karen cuddled her all night was the best thing to wake up to in the mornings.
Karen was a unique beauty and Hen was very much in love with her. Moving closer to her wife and brushing her hair back from her face, Hen left her a small kiss on her forehead before reluctantly getting up to occupy the bathroom.
After she had finished washing her face Hen realized she had the day off, so she decided to lie down on the bed once again, she found that Karen had moved to lie on Hen's side of the bed, so she had no choice but to lie down on Karen's side, wrapping her arms around her wife as she settled in to continue sleeping.
"
When she woke up again Karen was still lying next to her, but this time she had a book in her hands which she seemed to enjoy quite a bit, sunlight was filtering through the blinds so Hen guessed it was almost noon.
"Good morning, honey." Hen stretched, wrapping an arm around Karen's waist again as she lifted her head slightly for a kiss.
"Good morning, the kids are still sleeping."
"Mmm, what do you read?"
Karen moved her book so Hen could see the cover, without her glasses Hen couldn't see very clearly but she was sure it was one of those romance books that were selling more and more to young people. Moving over she smiled at Karen. "Really?"
Karen pretended to be offended, holding a hand to her chest as she tried to contain her laughter:"What? It's a very good book, you should read it."
"I will read it when you finish it."
"I knew it…"
Hen pinched Karen on her side, hiding her face in her wife's stomach as she slowly fell asleep again.
"It's really been long shifts, huh, honey?"
"Mmmm" Hen wanted to answer her but sleep was overcoming her again, she leaned further down, resting her face against Karen and murmuring an I love you, although in the state she was in she wasn't sure if Karen had heard her words or even if they were just an unspoken thought out loud.

2, Slow dance
Karen had been complaining about her dress for the last half hour, some idiot had spilled his glass of wine on her white dress so Hen had to put her jacket on to cover the stain, of course Karen wouldn't let it go and was embarrassed enough by what happened that they had to walk out to the driveway to get some air while they waited for the Uber.
Absentmindedly Hen stood watching her wife, who paced back and forth gesturing too much with her hands, with a sigh Hen reached over, grabbing both of Karen's hands and pulling them down to her sides.
"Stop, baby, no one was paying attention."
"It's not that, it's not the people that bother me."
Hen frowned, not understanding what the problem was then, her gaze must have caught Karen's attention because her wife paused and let out a sigh, tilting her head up in exasperation.
"So...?"
"We didn't make it to the dance."
Oh. Hen was going to answer, but at that moment the Uber arrived and Karen was the first to get in the car without looking at Hen, not wanting to disturb Hen even more Hen got in behind her and they had a silent ride home. Buck was waiting for them awake, although the kids had been asleep for a while according to him.
"Well, my precious women, I have to go now, but I can watch the kids again anytime you want, just let me know!"" Buck left, dismissing them both with a noisy kiss on the cheek.
While the mood had improved by this time, Hen knew that Karen was still upset about what had happened, and further confirmed it when they went to sleep in silence.
Hen tried to talk to his wife but got no response, so she left the subject there so as not to end up arguing in bed.
____
It had been a few days since the incident at the party and Karen's bad mood had already disappeared along with that night, but Hen could not get out of her head the way her wife had reacted to the accident and how she kept quiet after that, it took she a while to realize what Karen had mentioned, she was not worried about the dress or the people, then, Hen realized that Karen had been waiting for weeks for that party because it was going to be the opportunity to dance slow music holding Hen's hand.
With that in mind Hen had bought the treats and Karen's favorite movie while Buck took the kids to Eddie's, a weekend with the Diaz family, Buck had said.
She finished preparing dinner at the same moment she heard the door open and Karen shout that she had arrived. Seconds later her wife's footsteps approached the dining room where Hen was with a bouquet of flowers in her hand, Karen looked at her surprised without understanding what was happening.
"It's not that I don't like the surprise, but I don't remember it being a special day."
"And it's not, I just wanted to make it up to you for the other night."
"Another night? Honey, are you talking about the party? I told you it was nothing." As she spoke Karen walked over to Hen, grabbing the flowers and smiling at her wife before giving her a kiss.
As they parted Hen grabbed the stereo remote to hit play on the music, the slow beat began to play across the room causing Karen to let out a giggle, pulling Hen close and gluing her body to her wife's as they began to sway together to the music.
"How did you figure it out? It took you a while."
Karen rested her head on Hen's shoulder, while Hen gripped her more tightly around the waist.
"I'm sorry, I didn't understand what happened that day, I forgot how excited you were about the dance."
"So you decided to make a private one, Hen Wilson, my beloved wife, are you looking to take me to bed?"
"Do I need a dance for that?"
Karen laughed, tilting her head back as she did so: "You are so special, I love you so much honey."
"I ..." The oven bell rang, startling them both, after separating to turn off the oven Hen stood watching Karen as she put the flowers in water with a smile on her face.
1, Sharing clothes
Thursdays were usually days where work was light, shifts were quiet (which was ironic) and the day ended with a feeling of tiredness even without having done anything. Also, Thursdays were Hen and Karen's days off, and they both took full advantage of that, this time they had decided to go to the park with the kids and Maddie, while Karen and Maddie got into a big talk about medical and scientific details, Hen listened to them as attentively as possible.
Of course, maybe that was because since they had left the house Hen couldn't take her eyes off Karen and how she was wearing not only Hen's joggers but also one of her t"shirts, and they fit her too well, Hen was losing it right there.
Karen didn't wear Hen's clothes very often, and when she did it was always within the walls of her house, so Hen was surprised to see her wearing her clothes.
She focused back on the conversation when Maddie called out to her.
"I'm sorry, what were you saying?"
Maddie raised an eyebrow at her, but continued talking.
"I was mentioning to Karen about a new show on Netflix, is everything okay?"
"Yes, I'm sorry, I was distracted."
Maddie let out a laugh that she tried to cover with her hand, looking directly at Karen, who was distractedly helping Denny put on a jacket.
"I can say it."
Hen quickly changes the subject.
_____
At the end of the day they were still in the park, although Mara and Jee were already asleep next to Chim who had arrived an hour earlier, and Denny was still hanging around playing with other boys, Hen walked over to Karen, wrapping her arms around her as he gave her a short kiss.
"Have I mentioned how beautiful you are when you wear my clothes?"
Karen stroked her face, making a rather amused grimace:" Yes, just a couple of times." That part she said with a smile on her face that Hen was very familiar with.
"Oh, you planned it, did you?"
Karen laughed:"Maybe yes, maybe no, maybe I just wanted to be more comfortable today.
"Mmmh, I lo…"
"Mom! Are we leaving already?"
Hen stopped dead in her tracks with the words in her mouth, looking over to where Mara had yelled at them she held back a sigh, unconsciously tightening her hand on Karen's waist before pulling away.
"All right, get your stuff together, guys. It's time to go."
+1 Pride march
Hen was finishing packing her backpack when Karen came into the room. They had left the kids at Maddie's house while they went out with Buck and Eddie to the pride march. Everyone was excited about the day. They had been planning their clothes and makeup for weeks.
Karen was wearing a dress with colored glitter that they had added to it, her hair was down and she had orange eyeliner on her eyes along with some glitter. Her wife smiled at her, approaching Hen absentmindedly with some jackets in her hands to put in backpack.
"Maddie called, they are going to spend the day at the house, the girls haven't left the room and Denny is interrogating Chim about being a firefighter, I feel very betrayed by my own son right now."
Hen knew that Karen was lying, they had been watching Denny become more and more interested in firefighters for months, which had been disconcerting since their son tended to be more interested in what Karen did in the lab than in what Hen did at the station.
Half smiling, Hen walked over and placed a chaste kiss on her wife's lips, zipping up her backpack as they heard Eddie's car honk in the driveway.
"Come on, love, the kids are in good hands, let's have some fun today. "
—
The place was amazing, Hen was delighted with the sight of so many flags together, her friends also looked just as amazed as her, Hen moved through the crowd holding her wife's hand and walking with equal smiles among everyone.
They had fun for a while, carrying a lesbian flag between them and keeping up with Buck and Eddie, who did not have a flag but both had makeup on their faces along with colors painted on their cheeks.
After walking for a while, they stopped to eat something, at which point Karen took the opportunity to approach a makeup stand on the street to ask them to put more shine on her face. Hen stayed nearby, unable to take her eyes off of her wife. Karen still had the flag in her lap, which perfectly counteracted the white dress she was wearing and also matched the shine that was now on her face. The sight of Karen like that, so happy, made a tingle rise through Hen's stomach, barely containing all the love she felt for her wife.
When Karen finished, Hen came over and gave her a big kiss while listening in the background to the crowd whistling and clapping, Hen smiled in the middle of the kiss before pulling away and resting his forehead against her wife's, absentmindedly caressing Karen's waist.
"You look beautiful today, honey."
"You look beautiful too, my love." Karen placed a small kiss on Hen's lips again, cuddling together as people distracted around them.
"I love you, honey, more than you can imagine, i'm so glad for having you in my life."
Hen leaned in again, wrapping her arms completely around Karen and kissing her again before getting a response, they stood there for a few minutes before separating completely, both breathing heavily before Karen caressed Hen's cheek and smiled at her with nothing but love in her eyes.
"I love you too, honey, you and the kids are the most important things in my life."
They stood in that same spot for a while, enjoying each other's company until Buck and Eddie called them to move on. Smiling to herself, Hen took Karen's hand as they walked towards their friends. Hen thought there was no more precious way to spend the day than with his beloved wife and two of her best friends.
