Work Text:

Although they're in hell, it doesn't mean they can't get sick, and Vox was no exception. For weeks, he had been suffering from migraines due to work stress; this month had been a disaster. Several of his devices, supposed to be ready for sale, were delayed, and his clientele was furious about the delay. "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself," he thought. His program overheated to such temperatures because he hadn't recharged his system for almost a full week, and that definitely affected its configuration.

Thank Lucifer, he managed to solve the problem and successfully deliver the orders. He longed with all his being for the end of the month to rest, even if just a little. However, the sudden rest from hard work would bring grave consequences...

The next morning, Vox woke up with tremendous tremors and a severe headache that left him immobile for an hour. He sent a message to Velvette, letting her know he wouldn't be able to come to work and that he just wanted to sleep for a long time. He desperately wanted to shut down his system, but he knew that would only make things worse. His vision began to blur, and finally, he passed out.

As he regained consciousness six hours later, the headaches had lessened in intensity, and for the moment, he could bear the slight pain that lingered. The sound of his doorbell's melody echoed throughout the apartment. Who the hell was looking for him? He wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone. He got out of bed and began walking towards the door. His astonishment was such that he let out a muffled scream upon seeing the radio demon in front of him.

Alastor was surprised to see the current state of his lover; he hadn't expected to see him so... disheveled.

"Darling, you look rather disheveled. Haven't you forgotten that we have a date today, or have you?" Alastor said with a smug smile.

So that's what it was. Vox felt embarrassed to have the elegant radio demon in front of him while he was a mess.

"A-Alastor..."

He quickly straightened up, trying not to look so dejected. As best as he could, he forced a smile.

"Of course not. How could I forget such an important event?"

"Are you going out with me in pajamas?"

"Eh?" Right, he was still wearing his sleepwear.

"Yes, well. Regarding that, I was just about to get ready, hehe... Let me get dressed."

Just as he turned to go back to his room, he felt a painful stab in his head. His screen filled with restart warning messages as he staggered backwards. Quickly, he felt hands holding him around the waist. He turned his head and saw Alastor, who had a genuinely concerned look.

"Darling, what's wrong? Are you okay?"

"I-I..." He felt a lump in his throat that prevented him from speaking; he was panicking.

What was happening to him? Suddenly, his legs felt weak, and he felt weak himself. An instant shiver ran down his spine at the mere question. Alastor helped him to the sofa; every movement he made was painful. Undoubtedly, he was in a fateful state. Alastor looked at him with pity, drew him to his chest, and hugged him. Vox felt damn vulnerable, ashamed that he had ruined his date and worried his partner.

He lost the ability to hold back his sobs, gasping in short breaths as he sank into Alastor's chest. A delicate hand comforted him with words of relief.

He cried until all his frustrations dissolved. He couldn't quite feel his limbs. But despite everything, Alastor stayed with him, waiting for him to calm down.

"It's okay, love," the demon finally spoke, stroking his head.

Vox let the calm atmosphere and Alastor's company take care of him.

Minutes passed, and gradually, the pain began to diminish. As his breathing became more regular...

"You know, Alastor, I never thought I'd say this, but your chest is quite comfortable," Vox said with a weak smile.

"Ah, yes? I'm glad to be of use."

Vox laughed, feeling a little better. Alastor took his face in his hands, giving him a tender kiss on the cheek.

"What do you think if I cook something simple and then we watch a movie? It would be a home date."

Vox nodded enthusiastically as he watched Alastor head towards the kitchen. Although the date hadn't gone as planned, it turned out to be one of the most comforting and special nights he had ever had. And with Alastor by his side, he knew that the wait had been worth it.
