Chapter Text

Shelly looked at the starry night through her window, her sorrow expression being very noticeable. “Am I not good enough?” she sniffed. “Vee never wants to talk with me..” She sobbed. Shelly just wanted to make new friends, and happened to fall in love with a certain someone.

Unfortunately for her, the girl of her dreams was always “busy” doing something else. Whenever she wanted to talk, she brushed it off. Shelly covered her face with her hands and hid after hearing a knock on the door. “Shelly?” The familiar voice asked. “It’s me Tisha, I thought I heard something over here. Are you okay?” She paused, knocking again. “Shelly? Are you in there?” Her voice sounded more desperate and definitely worried. Shelly was hiding in her blanket, trying not to give herself away.

She weeped quietly, hoping no one would notice. “Shelly, I’m opening the door.” Tisha said, her tone sounding concerned. “Is that you?” She whispered, seeing the prominent bump in the blanket. She gradually walked forward, hearing Shelly’s cries. A frown formed on Tisha’s face upon seeing her usually vivacious friend.

Tisha slowly lifted the blanket, seeing her dejected friend. Shelly rushed to drape it over her head but Tisha stopped her. “Shelly, it’s just me. You can tell me anything, I promise.” Tisha tried her best to offer support to her, flashing an amiable smile to show her sincerity.

Shelly looked over to one of her friends, her eyes puffy and slightly red. She hugged her tightly and the other didn’t dare to move. “I’m-I’m sorry you have to see me like this.” She choked on her sobs, clutching on Tisha’s dress. “Shhh, let it all out. This is what friends do.” She rubbed her back gently. It was a few simple words but it was enough for Shelly to feel a little better.

“So what’s wrong?” She asked, genuinely curious. Shelly’s expression changed into one of worry, shifting quickly after her response. “I-uh, It’s just…umm.. personal reasons.” She replied back nervously, an unreadable expression plastered on her face. “Please just let your feelings out. It’s not healthy to bottle them up like this, you know?” She frowned. Shelly nodded as Tisha continued ranting.

After a while, Shelly had calmed down but she didn’t want to rant to her friend because it was already midnight by the time she had finished crying. She looked at herself in the mirror, the first thing she saw was her disheveled face. “Just let me know when you need help alright?” Tisha said reassuringly, carefully closing the door. She was brought back to reality and smiled at her until her figure disappeared.

“Maybe I’ll have the courage to tell her one day.” Her smile dropped and she sighed, staring into her own reflection.
