Work Text:

---

Penelope woke up and went through her morning routine: a refreshing shower, a quick breakfast, and then she waited for Eloise, who, as usual, was running late. Normally, the two would head to school alone, but today was one of those days when Eloise’s siblings joined them. When Eloise finally arrived, she brought Daphne and Colin, all of them quite late.

— Good morning, El! I was starting to think you weren’t going to make it to school today — Penelope commented with a cheerful smile.

— It’s these two’s fault! Colin took forever eating, and Daphne can’t stop fussing over her appearance! — Eloise complained, apologizing for the delay.

Penelope smiled at Daphne, while Colin approached and wished her a good morning. Penelope had harbored a crush on Colin since Eloise’s birthday party years ago. Since then, her shyness and Colin’s friendly nature had built a solid friendship. Despite her secret feelings, she managed to hide them well. On the way to school, Colin walked alongside Penelope, chatting and laughing, which made Eloise a bit frustrated as she couldn’t talk to her friend. Penelope couldn’t stop smiling; it was impossible not to melt at Colin’s bright smile. When they arrived at school, everyone went to their respective classrooms.

Penelope watched Colin enter the classroom, noting how all the girls looked at him and gave him discreet smiles. He had always been popular with the girls, and Penelope feared that because of this, he might never notice her, even though she had always been by his side while he dated others.

— So, have you talked to her yet? — Michael asked as soon as Colin sat down.

— No, Michael, I haven’t had the chance yet.

— How come? You live close by, go to school together, and she’s always at your house. How have you not had the chance?

— It’s complicated. If I tell her I like her and she doesn’t feel the same, it could ruin our friendship.

— You’re the only one who doesn’t realize that Penelope is crazy about you. If I were you, I’d ask her out before someone else does.

During the break, Colin saw Penelope sitting with her sisters and decided to approach her.

— Pen, you’re coming to the movie night at my place tonight, right?

— I’m not sure, Colin. I have a lot of studying to do and...

Before she could finish, Eloise interrupted:

— I’ve already tried to convince her to go, and I even promised there won’t be any horror films.

— Pen! You have to come. I promise you won’t regret it.

— Alright, I’ll go.

Once Penelope had walked away, Colin told Daphne about his plan for the evening.

At Colin’s movie night, Penelope was nervous. She tried to focus on the film, but her mind was occupied with what might happen afterward. When the movie ended, Colin approached her.

— Hey, Penelope, would you like to take a walk outside? — Colin suggested with an inviting smile.

Penelope agreed, and they walked through the star-lit garden. Each step seemed to echo the growing anticipation within her.

Finally, Colin stopped and looked into her eyes.

— You know, Penelope, there’s something I wanted to tell you...

Penelope held her breath, her eyes locking with his.

— I... really like you. I’ve always liked you. I know I’m not great at expressing my feelings, but you’re special to me. I admire your company, your intelligence, your kindness. I’d like to know if you’d be interested in going out with me, not just as friends, but as something more.

Penelope’s heart raced. It was as if the entire world faded away, leaving only her and Colin. She finally found the courage to speak.

— Colin, I... I also like you a lot. More than just as a friend. From the first day I met you, I’ve always felt something special for you. I’d love to go out with you.

A radiant smile spread across Colin’s face, lighting up his expression. He reached out and gently held her hand.

— So, it’s a date?

---

The moment was charged with expectation and desire. Penelope and Colin were sitting on the terrace, their hearts beating in unison. The air seemed to hum with the electricity of their connection, and each breath carried the weight of growing anticipation.

Colin leaned in a little closer, his eyes fixed on Penelope’s lips. She felt the warmth of his proximity, the familiar scent of his cologne enveloping her, making her shiver slightly with nerves and excitement.

— Penelope... — Colin whispered, his voice husky with contained emotion.

She looked up to meet his gaze, losing herself in the depth of his eyes. No words were needed; their hearts spoke the same language, echoing a shared desire that transcended any barrier.

Then, without further hesitation, Colin moved closer, his breath mingling with hers. Penelope felt the heat of his lips approaching, so close that she could feel his breath on her skin. Their lips met in a gentle kiss, a moment of pure magic and passion.

It was a tender kiss, full of warmth and promises. They gave themselves to the moment, losing themselves in each other as time seemed to slow around them. It was as if the whole world disappeared, leaving just the two of them, bound by the indissoluble tie of love.

When they finally pulled apart, Penelope’s eyes sparkled with happiness, and a shy smile played on Colin’s lips.

— Penelope, I’ve never felt as happy as I do right now — Colin murmured, his voice soft in the night’s silence.

Penelope looked at him, her eyes shining with affection. — I feel the same, Colin. Being with you feels like a dream come true.

They stayed there, soaking in the tranquility of the night and the magic of the moment, knowing that something special had begun between them. Love was in the air, wrapping them in its comforting warmth and promising a future filled with adventures, laughter, and above all, love.

As they walked back to the house, hand in hand and with radiant smiles, Penelope realized that her waiting had finally come to an end. What had started as a simple friendship had blossomed into something far more beautiful.
