Summary:

Fazbear Entertainment is set to open a smaller version of the giant pizzaplex that burned to ruins years ago.

For you, securing a job before opening turned out to be a pretty great gig, all things considered. You get along fairly well with your coworkers. Though one of the animatronics, the daycare attendant, becomes rather touchy-feely around you, after meeting them during your very first shift. It was likely just due to being alone for so long in those ruins.

Nothing more to it than that, right?

Chapter 1: Welcome, new employee, meet your main animatronic coworker

Notes:

This fic is mainly for me to get back into the swing of writing Sun and Moon again while also having some self-indulgent fun (which is why, when Sun and Moon are Eclipse, Eclipse gets its own chapter).
Each chapter is loosely connected, and there’s low conflict for the most part. Fic is mainly just Sun, Moon, and the MC getting closer to one another without realizing it.

Chapter Text

One would think, with this new building being a fraction of the size the Freddy Fazbear mega pizzaplex had been (which had since burned to ruins), that it would be much easier to navigate.

It wasn’t.

Despite being slightly bigger than a regular sized city mall, with two floors and a basement maintenance area, you got lost and turned around several times throughout your first day on the job. So much for orientation being useful; the map layout was terribly labeled and near-unreadable.

Halfway through the day, you were prepared to tear out your hair in utter frustration, unable to find the elusive theatre to take inventory.

“Hello, new friend!” A loud, cheery voice suddenly called out. “It’s great you’re excited to visit, but we’re not quite open for business yet!”

You swiftly turned, hearing equally cheery bells jingling before you were face to torso with an animatronic. Tilting your head back, you assumed that this must be the daycare attendant, based off the previous building’s occupants.

Amazing, that the animatronic hadn’t been completely destroyed in the fire.

Its faceplate was mostly restored to its former glory, or rather, uncanniness, what with that wide toothed grin stretching unnaturally wide. It looked like there was still more to be done.  The optic lenses made the ‘eyes’ set into the faceplate glow a soft golden, instead of what was rumored to have been an eerie white.

The animatronic’s faceplate swiveled to and fro while fluttering its sun ‘rays’. It rocked from side to side to some internal song, presumably waiting for an answer.

“I work here.” You eventually said. “First day, with a basic orientation last week.”

“Oh!” The animatronic leaned over to be practically face to face with you. Those golden eyes stared a moment before the animatronic  reared back to clap its hands comically over its head. This flattened some rays back into the faceplate as distress entered its voicebox. “Oh no no no! Moon, you told me that the employee list had been updated last night!”

You didn’t see anyone nearby, but that was a moot point when the animatronic was suddenly in your space again. The animatronic have your hands an enthusiastic shake by very much larger hands as the daycare attendant greeted you by name.

“Sorry about that! Moon forgot to slip me the updated employee list!” The sun rays shrank down, the glow of the optic lenses dimming as the animatronic looked off to the side, muttering theatrically. “A little joke, he says. Don’t be so upset, Sun, just some fun.”

The animatronic, Sun (on the nose, there, did to the sun motif you now noticed on the button up that the lanky animatronic looked have jammed on recently). Only one arm was through a sleeve, however, as the left arm was bare, showing off a gradient of yellow and hints of orange.

“…well guess what? ‘He’ is upset over that joke of yours!” Sun jabbed the air next to him sharply with a finger, as if someone was standing there.

You didn’t see anyone, nor did you hear more of the animatronic’s lively tirade. Instead, you were distracted by watching those large hands and ridiculously long, articulated fingers flash through the air as Sun punctuated his words.

Amazing.

There were so many questions you had over an animatronic needing to have such grasp and flexibility for the hands. Even Freddy and the others didn’t have nearly as much articulation as the daycare attendant did.

One of those hands suddenly landed onto your head to ruffle your hair.

“We’re going to have so, so, so much fun with our new friends here! So many more human employees to work with us! Right, Moon?” Sun appeared more eager now that he knew you were an employee who was actually supposed to be here. “Rude!” Sun suddenly gasped comically covering his static mouth. “We don’t use that language here! No, Moon, I’m sure there’s a reason there’s more human employees. We’ll make sure everything is great for everyone!” Sun proceeded to land a hand onto your head again. “Like you, new friend! Moon says you’re lost.”

Waving the animatronic hand off, you are about to ask how this Moon knew that, when Sun leaned right back over to give your hair another playful ruffle. You showed him away again, but Sun merely danced out of swatting range, cheerfully evading you with ease. The distance revealed that the animatronic was wearing a pair of shorts that showed off thin metal legs, the right one looking to be in the middle of being repaired.

“We may have left the repair early to see who was sneaking about.” Sun said, as if noticing what you were looking at.  “But since you’re an employee, we’ll show you where to go!”

You weren’t sure where Sun was going to lead you, but you hadn’t expected that it would be the theatre.

Sun seemed proud to present theatre and its small stage as he gestured to it with a grandiose swing of his arms and just had to add jazz hands to it, ringing the bells that around his wrists, secured by ribbons.

Oh.

So that was where it was; behind the daycare, in the back right corner of the first floor of the building.

Well, time to get back to work then.

As you took inventory, Sun decided to follow you closely in his ridiculous shorts and button-up combo as he jingled along with each step. You suspected that he made the sound on purpose (even the jester-looking shoes had bells on them), with how quiet Sun had been when sneaking up on you earlier. But it was hard to tell with the fixed smile on the animatronic’s face. Interestingly, Sun’s company and antics helped lower the stress and general chaos that had been the first half of your shift on day one working at the new, yet to be opened pizzaria aka mall.

Once you’re home for the evening, you realize that you never got the chance to ask Sun who Moon was.

~

It was a mistake to have not found out about Moon sooner.

Rather, you should’ve asked Sun, as you hadn’t received much information other than which animatronics were being repaired and refurbished. You’d basically been told via email to focus on your work; that you’d meet more animatronics soon enough.

That was a laugh, because you sure as hell were going to be meeting someone tonight, being chased around by something in the dark. You really, really hoped that it wasn’t someone who’d help you learn whether or not the rumored dark past of Fazbear Entertainment Co was true.

Whoever it was that was chasing you was enjoying the pursuit far too much, based off the unnerving laughter and gleeful giggling going on somewhere behind you.

The darkness wasn’t a mistake.

It was a scheduled power-off for maintenance being checked on throughout the entire building.

You may have only skimmed an email about the scheduled maintenance without taking notice the approximate time of the power shut down.

Just your luck.

It had turned your relatively straightforward shift into a horror movie.

“Running, running, running away.” A voice crooned in a jarring, off-putting way, tone light and playful yet creepy as hell at the same time. “Wherever are you running to?”

You end up stumbling around in the dark of the building’s basement, cursing the fact that one of your lists to finish was to make sure someone else’s supplies (i.e. one of the mechanics) was in place and not backordered. Reaching out, your hands hit the wall. Following it along with brushes of one of your hands, you jumped when something lightly played with the ends of your hair with all too-human like minute movements.

”Farther away from the stairs.” The voice sing-songed to you. There was a glow coming from somewhere behind you, indicating your pursuer was an animatronic. You’d assumed as much but the confirmation was nice to have. The hand from before brushed your shoulder this time, the fingertips tapping one by one.

It spurred you blindly away from the wall as you changed directions and ran faster.

“Wrong way.”

The hand, a large one, wrapped around your entire arm and part of your shoulder to bring you to an abrupt stop. Heart hammering in surprise, you end up stumbling backward into a taller body to avoid your arm being yanked on too harshly.

”Clumsy, careless.” The voice grumbled, the red glow right over your head now as you heard a clicking sound. The hand loosened around your arm and shoulder, yet didn’t let go quite yet. “Watch your step.”

The red glow brightened as a large, yet articulated hand just like Sun’s reached past your head to point down.

Squinting, can see your barely make out your immediate surroundings. At a jingle from around the wrist of the the animatronic hand pointing, you look down, and blanch at the sight of the open hatch. The opening in the floor was a mere foot or so away from where you had been stopped.

Someone had forgotten to close the hatch.

You could have accidentally fallen into it if the animatronic behind you hadn’t stopped you in your tracks. Even if you hadn’t been chased around, you might not have known of the danger without a light. You didn’t even have a phone to light your way.

The panic set in as you flinched away from the open hatch, making you press further into whoever was still holding your arm. The one who’d prevented you from taking a nasty, painful tumble down the maintenance hatch. The fingers slowly release you, giving you a chance to turn and catch a glimpse of who’d been chasing you around in the dark.

In the light of the eerie red glow, you could just barely make out a similar faceplate to Sun’s. This animatronic was without the sun rays, and instead was wearing what seemed to be a large sleeping cap covered in stars. Though the animatronic wore the same sun decorated button up you’d seen Sun wear before. But instead of the shorts, there were star covered pants that were puffy from the knees down. It was hard to tell for sure, with it still being so dark, but the pants gave you the impression of a jester. The image was reinforced with the jingling of bells that sounded as the animatronic made the head swivel back and forth.

”So, you must be Moon?” The answer you received was a flashlight being pressed into your hand, and one of those slender, (articulated, so ridiculously articulated) fingers tapping it in a pointed manner.

You flash Moon in the face in revenge for the scare. In doing so, you learned exactly why Sun had acted like he was talking to someone. Those sun rays poked out of Moon’s faceplate and threatened to upend the sleeping cap as a golden glow appeared in one of the optic lenses.

Ah.

That…explained a lot.

The daycare attendant, Sun and Moon, were one animatronic.

Did they have two AI, or one?

You decided you’d ask later, when Moon shoved the flashlight to the side with a jerky motion, and pointed to the left. Turning the flashlight to the indicated direction, you took off running without a word.

Moon pursued, making jarring guttural rasps, presumably from having a bright light being shined directly in his face.

At the very least, the flashlight allowed you to see where you were going this time, but you did not expect was to be yanked up off your feet once you ran up the stairs from the basement and all the way to the second floor of the new, yet-to-be-opened pizzeria/mall.

Moon sniggered at the sight of your flailing as he secured his arms around you while he glided around via a cable from somewhere overhead. He gave no signs or any indication of letting you down any time soon.

This was your life now, you guessed. Dangling from an animatronic jester’s arms as he gleefully ‘flew’ you around the upper floors in a twisted sort of tour around the pizzeria. Resigned, you glumly waved to coworkers who obviously weren’t sure whether to feel bad for you or to laugh at your plight.

Moon’s faceplate spun slowly around as if pleased with himself, but did not let you go free to solid ground, even when the lights turned on.

You clung to Sun as he did to you, the two of you panicking over being suspended in midair.

”Moon! No no no! This isn’t funny! What were you thinking?”

You suspected Sun was merely jesting and playing up his own fear of the height to distract you while he worked on lowering the two of you to the floor below.

In what would soon become a familiar pattern, Moon was entirely unhelpful, in this instance by apparently narrating the scene, according to Sun.

You couldn’t help but smile when Sun let out a despairing noise over something that Moon must have said, going prone on the floor in a dramatic fashion. Silently, you crouched alongside the animatronic and pat the covering now over the back of his faceplate.

When Sun got back up and saw you awkwardly offering a hug with your arms spread out, the animatronic jester playfully pretended to be serious and solemn as he accepted the hug from you.

A trap, cleverly disguised, as you were scooped up in said hug and easily carried to help sort things in the daycare, despite Sun being more than capable of doing so himself.

The power got cut not ten minutes later, leading to you hiding in one corner of the daycare as Moon crouched in place, teasingly waiting with arms spread open for a hug like you’d offered Sun.

You weren’t ready for another flying tour; you certainly weren’t prepared for Moon to suddenly drop down in an unnatural position to creepily spider crawl at you. Moon proceeded to loom, hands on either side of your head as the animatronic jester crouched to box you in against the wall.

“Caught you.” Moon’s head slowly spun in circles with clicks, low laughter growing into cackles when you finally reached out to pull the oversized nightcap down over his faceplate.

”Ah, blinded.” Moon intoned as he somehow managed to make his body collapse backward in a boneless manner, despite having a metal endoskeleton. As he lie supine, one of Moon’s hands twitched up to flick the sleeping cap off one optic lens to presumably gauge your reaction.

You toss your flashlight at him, but without much force behind it.

A graceful motion of the long-fingered hand caught it with ease.

”Mine now.” Moon stated, wiggling the flashlight with forefinger and thumb.

You think that working in this weird hybrid pizzeria/mall was going to be all right, if you were able to get along with the animatronics and at least most of the other human employees.

Chapter 2: Guided Tours and Chases in the Dark

Chapter Text

During the course of your second shift, you learned that the daycare attendant boasted two separate AI chips.

Like the other animatronics currently being restored, Sun and Moon were incredibly sentient, and with two AI communicating between one another...

It likely meant they were very aware of the fact that they’d been practically abandoned, before Fazco decided to give things another go at a smaller scale years later. You’ve no idea if there was any resentment or not over this happening, since Sun appeared, at least on the outside, ecstatic over being able to see children again in the new daycare.

Moon?

You couldn’t get a good read on him yet, but it had only been three shifts, as of today. There was plenty of time to get to know the nighttime daycare attendant.  And to find out if the whole stalking someone around the dark thing was for all adult employees, or if it was just reserved for you. So, while Moon was a mystery (and Sun, to be honest, with how little time you'd spent around the daycare animatronic thus far) you’d been able to question Sun about why he and Moon didn’t have their own separate bodies instead of a shared one.

It had been quiet, after you'd asked the question-

"How come you and Moon don't have separate bodies? " You ask, as you toss a colorful plastic ball from the small ball pit nearby up and down.  "Wouldn't that make things easier on the both of you, especially if Moon is expected to do security patrol in addition to naptime, while you handle the daycare and the theatre? The level of cleanliness that will be required once this place is open for business?"

"A separate body not affected by the changing of the lights would makes things easier." Sun absently rearranges supplies.  He twitches, then pauses, as if he is listening to Moon.  Sun resumes his work a moment later.  "It would be much much much too expensive to maintain two separate animatronics. Especially with the specifications, dexterity and material needed compared to the band members. Why use extra money, time and effort, when one animatronic can do the job well enough?"

"That...seems unfair." You comment, when the daycare attendant remains quiet.  "To expect you both to do equal amounts of work for two animatronics."

"Perhaps back in the mega pizzaplex, where there was more to do!"  Sun finishes his current task (organizing a box of hand puppets) before he quietly speaks again.  "But with this smaller space, it's much more manageable.  Besides, Moon and I are not interested in being separated from one other. Not after we've shared one body for so long.  Even if there happened to be money to allow for the possibility, we wouldn't take it." Sun taps his fingertips lightly on the box.  "But we did allow for some…other upgrades, since there were some extra funds set aside for us."  Sun distracts from the topic swiftly as he stands.  "But let's not talk about depressing or distressing thoughts like what it would mean to go to parts and service to do such intense things as separating the two of us!"  Sun's voice is high, if a little faltering, but switches to cheerful in a flash as he filches the plastic ball from you, tosses it into the ball pit, then skips off in the direction of the theatre.  "Come help me arrange the stage curtains for the theatre!"

No other topics involving parts and service is brought up the rest of the day.

-it had been a brief, if informative conversation, and all Sun had chattered about for the rest of the day was how nice it was to have company again, after being unable (or, perhaps, unwilling?) to get out of the daycare in the mega pizzaplex after the fire.

On your next shift, as well as the previous ones, you'd learned another thing about the daycare attendant.

Sun appeared to have no concept of personal space, nor did Moon, for that matter.

You had a sense that the animatronic jester was aware of the closeness, but Sun was perhaps oblivious to it at times?

Sun certainly seems to be overly enthusiastic over being able to interact with human employees and the other animatronics. But Sun also seemed to be particularly thrilled to see you, as he was always quick to greet you with a massive wave with one or both hands, and even a little dance of happiness before Sun would sweep you up into a hug as if he hadn’t seen you for years.

Four shifts!

Four, and Sun had already taken to you like you were old friends and not strangers just three days ago.

Then again, Sun was the most open to meeting the human employees while Moon apparently could do without the interactions and instead stalked technicians to watch them.

Sun loudly called out your name, drawing your attention to the fact that you likely weren’t going to make it to the gift shop to introduce yourself to another employee. Sun was by your side in a flash as he linked arms with one of yours. “We’ve decided that I'm going to be your designated guide to show you around the entire premises!” Sun proclaimed in a dramatic fashion, as he turned you about to lead you back the way you’d come.

The first stop, of course, was the smaller daycare area, as well as a mini theatre nearby.

“It’s so so so fantastic that we have some control over what products and supplies!" Sun gushed excitedly. "That makes it so much easier to plan ahead for activities!” Sun waved his free hand around through the air with twitchy motions like he could barely contain the enthusiasm. “I can’t wait for all the children to experience a proper puppet show with how much more I have to work with now.”

You’d relaxed while walking along, and just allowed yourself to be led around by the cheerful daycare attendant. It amused you more than you thought it would to see the way Sun had to hunch over.  After all, Sun's arm lanky arm was still linked around one of yours, so he leaned over in order to lead you around. It was obvious that the daycare attendant was doing his absolute best to not yank you up while he spoke and pointed things out.

Eventually, your arm gets sore, and you have to free it, which Sun does once he notices the strain.  You wave off the incoming apology.  "I should probably get back to work..."

"-and we have a lot of ideas!" Sun apparently didn't hear you, as he had alread y begun to skip off to the next place, as if expecting you to follow after him on your own. Instead, the animatronic jester half-turned to find you headed in the direction of the dining hall. “Friend, wait! We’re not finished giving the tour!” Sun corralled you by the nearest wall. “Moon is strongly insisting that you know your way around the floors of the building before opening or he’ll have to do it himself.” Sun’s rays fluttered a little, head titled, before he let out a gasp of mock offense. “Moonlight, you will do no such thing! No, you can’t do that either or dangle them over the others. Again! What would management say if they'd seen that?”

“To let Moon have his fun, since I had already finished my tasks that day?” You wryly commented, before adding with some poorly hidden bitterness. “Because I was otherwise distracting Moon in order to allow other employees to finish their more ‘important’ work.”

"What do you mean by that?" Sun somehow managed to replicate a tutting noise. "All work here is very important! Do you think that, once this place is open, deep cleaning the daycare and theatre, as well as coming up with ways to entertain the children isn’t as important as whatever other people are doing?  Does it matter if they’re elbows deep in the wiring and such in that dreary basement, or keeping an eye out on the guests that will be here?  People working in the dining hall cooking or helping serve food and drink with some of the refurbished Staff Bots, while you and I do our own tasks?”

“When you put it that way..." You began, abruptly cutting yourself off when the daycare animatronic was suddenly half-crouched next to you as he slipped an arm around your back.  "Sun?"

“I do say!” The same arm behind your back was suddenly firm around your waist as Sun easily rose up, half-hoisting you up in order to brace against his taller frame. Sun spun on his heel and made a beeline for the dining area. “It’s been made know to me that you haven’t eaten lunch yet, so once you’ve eaten, we’ll continue showing you around!"

You let a halfhearted ‘yay' as you sagged against the animatronic.

“We’ll show you some shortcuts.” Sun mock-whispered with a whirling noise as his head craned toward you, as if to entice you into continuing the tour willingly.

“Shortcuts would be nice.” You replied, slightly distracted over the way Sun’s larger hand was holding you gently at his side, despite the clear strength you’ve seen Sun and Moon had shown themselves to have the past few shifts.

“Being able to evade the demands of parents would be ideal, wouldn’t it?” Sun asked lightly, clearly struggling to not skip with you propped up against him.

You groaned, forgetting about the possibility, and rather grateful that you had more time to get to know the building better (and to find the best place to hide out if need be).

“Would a secret spot make up for that?” Sun questioned slyly, as if guessing your train of thought.

“Depends on where it is and if it’s somewhere I’m supposed to be able to get to.” You said, one of your hands grasping a ruffle around Sun's thin metal neck when he made a sharp turn around a corner.

“I guess you’ll just have to wait and see until we show you it!” Sun teased, as if it were a big secret.

It wasn't.

But it sure was a convenient hiding place, and it was one you'd be sure to utilize if need be. After all, who would think to look behind one of the two photobooths where there was a convenient hole in the wall that was a convenient place to duck in to for a brief time?

You highly suspected that Moon made the 'hiding spot' himself during one of the nights you didn't come in for work.

~

This evening was your night shift for the week.

The building had been open to employees for a week and a half at this point, and it was day seven that you were on the job.

You should have anticipated being spooked in the dark areas of the strip-mall like area.  Specifically, you were in one of the larger stores, and currently fumbling around in said darkness for a light switch while being chased by someone.

Someone that you now kind of knew.

Very familiar, that.

At the very least, you’re not in the basement this time around.

There was a leap of panic as you heard someone close in. The jingling of bells altered you swiftly to who exactly was chasing you, and before you knew it, you were cornered against the wall.  Mechanical whirring and clicking sounded as Moon leaned over you, faceplate righting itself to look you directly in the eyes.  There was almost what seemed to be a sly expression in the glowing red light of Moon's eyes, which cast a glow over the uncanny smile.  Moon's fingers flex on each hand as they are carefully placed on the side of your neck as well as one of your wrists.  In stark contrast to his nightmarish, unnerving actions, Moon spoke solemnly. "You're going the wrong way."

"It’s dark and I can’t see." You deadpanned to the daycare attendant.

"Hm, too bad." Moon's face moved back, head turning around before he gently bonked the front of his faceplate onto the top of your head. down onto the top of their head. "Ask for light, don’t run."

"You were chasing and grasping at me." You retorted while reaching up to prod the side of Moon's head where the sleeping cap rested, causing a jingle from the bell.

"Test." Moon replied, head lifting then spinning idly around mechanical, metal clicking.

"What kind of test involves chasing someone around in the dark?!"  You exclaimed.  "Isn't that dangerous?"

Won't let you get hurt.  But you need to be alert." Muffled laughter tumbled out of animatronic at the sound of your shaky sigh. A spindly finger prodded one of your shoulders. "No mistakes this time."

"Wha-"

"Time's up." Moon smoothly yet eerily stepped back.  "Run."

"You are the worst!"  You complained as Moon's head tilted while he began to hop from foot to foot.  The glow of his eyes grew brighter, which caused you to try to run to one side.  "I'll tell Sun!"

"Sun can’t help you right now." Moon trapped you again in a corner by some large cardboard boxes. "Too slow. Again."

"I can’t see in the dark." You told the animatronic again.

A flashlight was pressed into your hand.

"Head start." Moon stated simply, before pressing his hands over his faceplate, fingertips curved in an unnervingly spidery way again with the way he tapped each of the fingers down. "Ten, nine, eight..."

You fled guided by the flashlight, swiftly ducking behind a crate as you just as quickly turned the light off.  And just in time, too.

"Ready or not, here I come!"  Moon raised his voice only the slightest bit before it dropped to just a bare murmur.  "If they can't play along or pay attention, they can't stay, Sunshine."

Moon was talking to Sun, but you could hear the way that Moon began to tiptoe along with a jingle and a low hum.

Right past where you were hidden.

Did he know where you were, or had you somehow picked a good, if temporary, hiding spot?

An idea came to mind, and you put it into motion.  Stealthily as you could, you moved in time to the jingling of Moon's bells.

Convenient.

It was if Moon wanted you to hear him creeping about in the dark. He also muttered things like ‘hidey-hide away’ as well as letting out rather unsettling laughter as Moon stalked around in the dark looking for you.

You crouched low on the crate you'd scaled, and watched, waiting for Moon to circle back around.

"Close." Moon uttered, crouching himself as he looked down at floor level, as if expecting you to hide low.

Interesting.

Why wouldn’t he look up, as that was where he often snuck up on you from?

When Moon turned, you slowly rose up, hiding minute noises with his steps and bells, quietly thanking childhood antics for the ridiculousness of sneaking up on friends to surprise them.

Who knew that specific thing would be useful now?

When Moon was close enough, you lunged with a great big leap off the crate, hoping a moment later that Moon's body was more padded than before with the clothing he currently had on. Then you hit him from behind, just barely remembering the hook that was on Moon's upper back. After leaning forward, you clung to Moon like a limpet around his narrow waist with your legs, while one arm wrapped around his thin metal neck and the other across his chest.

"Looks like Sun helped me out after all." You observed, actually taken aback that Moon hadn’t been informed by Sun of your surprise ‘attack.’

Moon's reaction seemed less exaggerated than you would have expected.

The animatronic a near-incomprehensible noise and froze up, as if your arms wrapped around his thin metal neck and chest, and your legs around the stupidly thin waist, was somehow a way to deactivate him. Moon’s arms were slightly bent but his hands, from the sound of it, were curled into a tight ball from the creaking metal sound that resounded in the otherwise quiet store.

That didn’t seem like a good sign.

"Moon?" You hastily let go of and drop down off the animatronic, righting yourself from a stumble.  You'd forgotten that the daycare attendant was taller than you. "Moon, are you all right?"

Moon didn't respond, nor did he move, apart from a twitch here and there.

Then, an unmistakable growling noise that ended with a cross noise

Another twitch.

Then, Sun’s voice emitted in place of Moon's, garbling out to you.

"L-Light-ights on-on! Ligh-lights-s on! Be-behind-ind you, to the ri-right-ght!"

Another guttural noise, but this time, from Moon.

N-Now-ow!"  Sun insisted shrilly.

You turn in said direction to run, turning the flashlight on.  From the furious muttering behind you that were getting louder, Moon he was giving chase. You were quick to slap the light switch, not exactly wanting to be cornered when Moon was acting in such an odd manner.

The moment the lights came on, Moon let out an agonized, if dramatic, scream.

Uneasy silence reigned.

Once you got your nerve back, you turn around, only to stumble backward into the wall behind you in alarm.

The daycare attendant currently had one large hand stretched out toward you, splayed wide open with the palm up, fingertips curved slightly inward. Sun was the one now frozen in place, but the stillness lent to the knowledge that Moon had been prepared to seize you.  When Sun didn't move, and instead trembled in place, it made you notice that one of his eyes remained red, specifically on the right. A n internal struggle seemed to be taking place, and it was a few very long minutes before Sun finally was able to relax, almost instantly dropping the hand to his side in a rather exhausted kind of way.

There was another long, if rather awkward, stretch of silence.

Sun fidgeted his fingers together nervously.  His head tilted to the side as he studied you huddled against the wall.  Sighing unhappily, but somehow managing to make it not be directed toward Moon (you had no idea how the animatronic conveyed that in the moment) Sun tentatively held his arms open to offer you a hug.

You didn’t even think to hesitate to accept the offer while it was Sun, and maybe you should have given that some thought.  Who was to say that Sun might not have some sort of thing that pushed him to react in the way that Moon had? Actually, thinking back on this incident later, you ought to have been more concerned, and talked about it a little longer the brief time you did before the Fazco decided everyone, human employees and animatronics, were ready and opened the building to the public.

At the very least, whatever had happened in that mostly empty store that day didn't appear to be triggered around children; it was apparently something that lingered from the mega pizzaplex, not very long before the fire, though whatever it was no longer 'existed' in their AI.

Ominous.

For now, present you sagged into the offered embrace, eyes closing as those hands flexed in a kind of nervous twitch.  Then, Sun used his fingertips to idly rub at tensed muscles in your back and shoulders. That felt nice, especially after all of the running around being chased about in such a short span of time. Resting your head against a shoulder, you listened to the quiet mechanical noises shifting within Sun’s chassis, before hearing a barely-there, stuttering whisper from the animatronic.

“S-Sorr-rry-y. Bad mem-memories-ies.”

It wasn’t Sun’s voice.

“Maybe less chasing me around in the dark for now?” You question, patting the upper back of the animatronic, to the side of the hook.  "And no jumping onto you guys from behind, unless you know to expect it if Moon wants to play a game of hide and seek again?"

An uneasy, higher pitched laugh emitted from Sun while he hugged you closer to him in a sort of relief, followed by a low static hum of apparent weary agreement from Moon.

You didn't get back to work for at least an hour, as you and the daycare attendant appeared to be hugging out whatever it was that had happened in the dark.

Notes:

I actually have this fic fully outlined, so I just need the time and energy to type up each one into a readable chapter and edit it. Posting will be at random, and chapter length will vary (fingers crossed that this fic helps get me into working on my other wips).

Chapter 3: Jitters before the grand opening; nighty night time for you

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

In the weeks leading up to the grand opening of the newly named Freddy Fazbear’s Fantastical Pizzaria (many cringed at the name but hey, being paid quite well and accommodating made it easier to ignore) it became busier than ever.

Everyone appeared to pick up the fact that time was ticking down, and soon, it wouldn’t just be the employees and the animatronic performers who would be occupying the space.

Soon, there would be guests of all ages.

It meant that there was a lot to check on before the building was opened to the public, and some employees, as well as a few animatronics, were panicked and/or more jittery than others that everything be just right.

Which meant that, durning many of your breaks on your shift, you’d join in on the lucky details while others made certain that the band members who’d been repaired were in working order and none of them felt that their repairs had done any damage to them in the process.

That virus had been a nasty one.

But all did appear well, unless you counted Sun rushing over to you every time something seemed out of place.

Like right how, a few weeks before the grand opening, with the daycare animatronic practically sprinting at you, in clear distress as he called out your name in a dramatic fashion as he swooped down on you.

And lightly held his hands pressed to either side of your cheeks as he stooped even further, the sun rays around his head fluttering in a nervous manner.

You gave the animatronic jester a moment to calm himself (somewhat) and find his words.

“I’m so so so so excited to see the children again but what if something goes wrong? What if none of the kiddos remember us?” Sun leaned his faceplate in close to you, long hands still planted on your face but gentle. “What is we do something wrong? What if someone trips Moon’s security mode and it scares the kids or makes the parents angry at us?”

“Breathe, Sunny.” You reached your hands up to pat the large ones on either side of your face. Sun briefly paused his slightly dramatic yet genuine anxious tirade to give you a quizzical tilt of his metal head and what seemed to be an amused gleam in his optics lenses. They seemed a brighter gold/blue anyway. “Or however you can simulate that?” You added with a smile. Sometimes the animatronics did such human things that you forget they don’t actually have to breathe. But their mechanical insides could overclock with heat, so it was best to try to not have one work themselves into a frenzy. You hoped those new cooling systems installed worked. “Can you focus on my breathing?”

Sun’s eyes settled on you, or appeared to, as the animatronic mimicked your breathing.

He kept his hands squishing your cheeks in place.

You’re not sure whether he found this amusing or not, and whether Moon, who would likely have done it to annoy you, had said something to the daytime jester.

Eventually, Sun’s nervous energy appeared to calm, and he let out an unnecessary sigh. Perhaps Sun made the noise with a fan whirring for your benefit, to let you know he’d listened to your advice, as unhelpful as it may be to an animatronic.

“What did we say about unnecessary put-downs?” Sun suddenly asked with a cheerful poke to your nose with one long finger.

Oops.

You didn’t mean to say that aloud.

“Even if we don’t need to breathe like you, slowing down and focusing can do our processors some good.” Sun patted your cheek reassuringly with his hand that was still there.  Aside, Sun added. “No, Moon, I am not saying that to our human coworker.” A pause, before Sun propped his free hand on one hip. “Rude!” Circular head plate tilting, Sun made a scoffing noise the zeroed in on you again, keeping his static face level with yours.

“I may be a teensy bit more nervous than Moon is over opening day.” Sun picked at his poofy pants while he idly let your cheek, as if not noticing he was even doing it. Then, as if he received a jolt of some kind, the animatronic suddenly moved the hand away. Both arms twisted behind his back as if Sun had grasped his hands together.

You wondered if he’d have given you a sheepish look, from the way he swayed back and forth on his feet, and his rays half-retracted as Sun’s face plate turned away from you.

“Sun?” You asked curiously, when the jester didn’t do anything other than sway.

“…I wanted to apologize for Moon.” Sun suddenly said, his faceplate snapping to face you so quickly you did a little jump. “For him trying to spook you out of a job.”

“He’s going to have to try a little harder if that’s the case.” You attempted to be light hearted about it, while remembering the unnerving encounter in the dark of one of the stores on the ground level. When Sun had you turn on the light due to them having a reaction from the mega pizzaplex that had made it appear as if Moon had been about to attack after you’d ’jumped’ him in a game of the animatronic’s own making.

“D-don-on’t tem-emp-empt-t me.” Moon’s lower voice crooned.

“Moon.” Sun made a groaning noise before wagging a finger at you in a no-nonsense kind of way. “I will not be responsible for his actions if you goad him into a chase.”

“I wasn’t trying to make Moon chase me before.” You pointed out.

“Moon! Don’t you dare!” Sun went still a moment as if needing his full attention in his counterpart before he addressed you. “It is…difficult for us both to be around more adult humans, especially employees, let along parents, after not being around any humans at all for years.

“I’ll keep myself from getting lost, so Moon won’t feel the need to see if I can manage well enough if that happens.” That sobered you up quickly from the light teasing attempt. “I have been using the updated map of the layout more often.”

“Good. That’s good.” Sun agreed, though now he seemed to be distracted as his long articulated fingers fidgeted together.

“Sunny?”

“We’re not ready to open!” Sun broken down again as he began to pace around.

And that was your cue to leave Moon to attempt to calm Sun down a second time.

You’d had enough of a break from the interaction that you needed to get back to work.

“Moon! The floor of the theatre is slanting 0.1  degrees to the left. We can’t let our guests see that! We’ll be a laughing stock for not having a level stage. Oh, I can’t believe this! How could this happen?”

You sure hoped that the nap time attendant could help Sun calm, as you weren’t sure anything you said to that kind of a comment that would make Sun feel better about the grand opening steadily approaching.

~

There was only a week and a half left to go before the grand opening.

It was all hands on deck and all animatronics crosses-checking inventory with the appropriate human employees.

A week and a half to make sure everything would go as smoothly as was possible.

So far, there were only some parts and service items that still needed to received, and for DJ Music Man to be able to operate in a smaller space in a smaller body than the animatronic had been back in the old burnt down pizzaplex.

You were just relieved that you weren’t responsible for any of the mechanical deliveries due to some of the incredibly strict, ‘here’s how to accept deliveries’ and ‘here’s what to do if something powers on in said delivery.’

That last one was concerning but it wasn’t something you had to worry about.

Thankfully.

Your first task of your shift this morning was to assist some of the technicians by calling in from the main security office via radio. There were quite a lot of monitors all over the building. You were checking the feeds, and doing your upmost to call the techs to let us them know if any camera angles appeared to be off.

It was a surprise that you were able to be as accurate as you currently were, due to the exhaustion you were steeped in from lack of sleep. Not because you were wanting to come into work worn out and blinking the bleariness out of your eyes, but because you were sure it was suddenly getting to you that this was really happening.

A Freddy Fazbear establishment was opening again after so many years after the previous had closed.

It was exciting yet nerve wracking, hence your unfortunate lack of sleep.

But hey, you were doing just fine!

So far, all of the camera angles in the monitors in front of you were all looking great. There were only a few of them that would need more adjustment, which could easily be taken care of before opening.

The lights in the room suddenly shut off, and it was proof to how exhausted you truly were that it didn’t click immediately what had happened. When it did, you were then suddenly made aware of the low chuckling and the jingle of bells as the nap time daycare attendant made his entrance.

“Dark circles.” Moon uttered into the dark of the room, lit by his red optic lenses and the glow of the monitors.

You were definitely out of it if you barely reacted to Moon suddenly perching on the desk right in front of you.

“Not sleeping.” Moon observed with a displeased noise as he leaned in over the desk and into your personal space.

This got you to move, though the most you could do was to lean back in the chair you were seated.

Moon loomed closer, faceplate tilting one side to the other, as if he were inspecting you closer until he seemed to make some internal decision.

Not jumping in a startled way when Moon moved one hand to curl long fingers under your chin to tilt your head up to face him and look him in the red glow of his eyes.

Neither you nor Moon said anything.

“Need to sleep.” Moon eventually uttered, contorting his body by leaning his torso over and sliding his free hand slid over the top of your head, fingers trailing through hair slowly before cupping his hand firmly at the back of your head. “Rest.” Moon added, his glowing eyes shifting to a strange swirl of purple and blue.

Hypnosis?

You didn’t think that that was in anything you’d heard about the daycare attendant. But you didn’t get a chance to ask or clarify, finding yourself unable to resist the soothing suggestion of rest, because it did suddenly sound like a great idea.

And then, you were out like a light, until you woke up hours later, and actually felt refreshed, unlike when you first woke up that morning and felt like you were just stumbling along until you were off to work for the day.

Moon was nearby, where he’d brought you to some storage room to rest on some mats for the daycare that had yet to be moved. The animatronic jester’s head was swiveling back and forth in a rather smug way, with the squint of smaller dot of blue light from his optic lenses.

“I needed that.” You admitted of the rest you’d just had.  You noticed that blanket that had been laid over you, then back to Moon with a curious look. Since when can you do hypnosis?”

“Always have.” Moon answered simply, performing a terrifying feat of flexibility by lying on his front and flipping his legs over to land on either side of his faceplate. “I won’t use it on the children after what happened in the old pizzaplex.” Moon tapped the fingertips of one hand onto a slipper he wore, before he spun his head upside down and skittered himself over to you.

Had you been more awake you likely would have crab-walked away in the opposite direction, but instead, you stayed in place as Moon lightly prodded you with a single finger to the forehead.

“But I will use this ability in intruders, or rule breaking employees.” The daycare attendant’s head spin right side up with the large sleeping cap’s end ringing cheerily with the bell. “You’ve not been sleeping properly.”

A statement, not a question

“Kind of difficult for me to keep a regular sleeping schedule with how crazy mine has been. Everyone’s schedule is, just until everything is in place for the grand opening.” You pointed out to Moon, while the animatronic flipped his legs back into a proper looking alignment.

The animatronic encroached on your personal space again as Moon sneakily tugged the blanket back up to your neck to tuck you in snugly.

You doubted that you were going back to work any time soon with Moon insisting on you getting rest. Not without the animatronic jester chasing after you to bring you back to this storage area if you were to try to leave.

“Sleep more.” Moon moved his hand to pat your head in a somewhat teasing manner, then settled in the corner of the storage room to watch you with glowing blue eyes.

You attempted to leave just one time, but Moon merely scooped you up into his arms and deposited you back onto the mat.

You were wrapped in the blanket securely and poked in the forehead again, in an admonishing way. After that, you did end up getting another two hours of much needed sleep, with Moon keeping you company in the dark.

Chapter Text

You were woken early in the morning by your evil alarm clock, even if the inanimate thing was doing its job to make sure that you weren’t going to be late for work.

Blindly reaching over with a hand, you swatted at it, but refrained from turning it off entirely, lest you sleep in longer than you ought to have.

Hitting a snooze button a few times would be perfectly fine.

Despite the new Freddy Fazbear location not yet opening its doors to the public for full business hours, you did need to be there on time for your shift.

Now that you had to get into the habit of doing so now that you had a brand new schedule than the previous one’s seeming randomness.

Yup.

A whole new schedule.

You, as well as the other human employees, had all received notification a few days prior.

Nothing negative, thankfully.

It had been addressed plain and simple that all of the human staff’s performances prior to the limited grand opening of the new Freddy Fazbear Emporium had been evaluated, and consequently taken into consideration for a slight change.

This change?

A brief change in the human employees’ location within the building during their shifts.

Someone in upper management thought that it would be a good idea to have each human employee placed in certain sections of the new pizzaria, where they could carry out their usual tasks, while also having the time to learn something new.

This (supposedly short) change was being followed through with in order to give everyone a chance, and the time, to learn the ins and outs of the area, or areas, they were assigned to. There was an unspoken assumption that doing so would mean that, in the event a human staff member needed to be called in for backup for some reason or another in the future, it would then be more likely that there would be some cross-knowledge between all of the human employees.

This was also intended to be another opportunity for everyone to have more than enough time to be able to finalize being able to learn their way around the two-story building, before there was the anticipated ‘normal’ amount of patrons.

You can’t help but wonder if that last bit was due to you (and some other human employees continuing to get turned around in the building, even after weeks or months of being in said building.

The second floor map for visitors to read had yet to be replaced as of yesterday, and you were certain that the map bot had had a meltdown over being relieved of its maps (also to be fixed before more people ended up getting unreadable ones to make fun of).

Hopefully, this meant that the customer maps were going to be legible once the building was open fully for business, and not just a small amount being let in for a set number of hours (usually to see the newly refurbished Glamrock band).

By the time you finally showed your poor alarm clock mercy and turned it off, you were fully awake, if a little sleepy. Stifling a yawn, you staggered into the kitchen and ended up checking your company email to see where it was that you’d been assigned.

Dear valued employee,

See attached the list of anticipated duties when working in the assigned are of: the daycare, theatre area, and gift shop.

Have a faz-tastic day!

At the end of the email was a pdf that did list the ‘anticipated duties’ but thankfully, it didn’t seem like you were actually expected to do more than you were able. Reading further, you concluded that you weren’t going to have to work every single one of your shifts in the newly assigned areas. So…that hopefully meant that there would be no overtime work.

You didn’t even have to wonder for long what your shifts would look like going forward, nor how you were expected to split the time between three places, when you receive a follow-up email.

Oh.

Okay then.

Your schedule appeared to have already been set for certain days and times.

That was good, especially when you see you don’t have any late night shifts followed by an early morning one. And unless you find another email later on, you assume that for the duration of this ‘change’ you’d be using this schedule for your shifts until you and other human employees were told otherwise.

You check the time and curse under your breath.

Time to get going.

While the building open for a shorter amount of time, as a ‘test the waters’ kind of a deal, you figured getting to your shift for day one of your newly assigned location would be best.

You guessed correctly, not only to be on time, but so you could weather Sun’s visible delight by your assignment to the daycare and the two surrounding areas.

The animatronic jester practically bouncing off the walls of the daycare in his excitement. Thankfully, there were no children present to try to replicate Sun’s bouncy, leaping excitement as he cleared several feet with certain jumps.

You, in contrast, weren’t particularly as thrilled to be working in the daycare; not because of Sun’s dizzying feat of athletic enthusiasm (because that was amazing to watch) but because you’re not the best with children.

This was mainly due to never having the chance to work somewhere where kids were often present.

You knew that there had been a chance of that, when you took this job, but you weren’t expecting to be placed (even temporarily) in an area of the pizzaria with younger kids. You’d have not been surprised to have been put into a place like, say, the arcade, where you’d likely end up interacting more often with teens or young adults. There was a part of you that wondered if part of management’s decision for you in particular was due to the Daycare Attendant’s obvious enjoyment of your company.

You involuntarily grimace.

Well.

You were well aware that Sun enjoyed your company, what with the way he skipped around you with eager energy most of the time while you worked.

Moon?

The nap time attendant merely seemed to enjoy following you around in the dark, in an attempt to either sneak up on you to spook, or to give chase to you, as Moon often let out unsettling laughter before pursing.

“Friend, it will be okay!” Sun’s voice broke into your thoughts, of worry over Moon’s behavior toward you.

Turning, you see Sun had calmed down, and was currently swaying back and forth on his feet.

“The children are usually very well behaved! But our little stars may been an eensy-teensy bit overeager now that the daycare is beginning to be available.” The animatronic jester stared at you for a moment, his faceplate spikes rippling in and out before he perked up.

You didn’t realize that Sun would be so quickly able to figure out what was causing your current glum mood on day one of a new shift schedule. Sun even reached over to pat you on the shoulder gently with one large hand.

“Don’t worry! I can help make sure the kiddos don’t leave glitter glue in your hair! Or or! Moon can-“ Sun paused, faceplate tilting to the side. A brightening of his golden optic lenses, right before Sun stooped down gracefully to ‘look’ you in the eyes. His hands reached out to grasp one of yours as he spoke mock-seriously. “Moon is wondering if you’re afraid children.”

“…It’s more like I’m uncertain how to act around or deal with them.” You admit, using your free hand to pat the two animatronic ones holding onto your own. “I haven’t had much experience working around children.” You sighed, but when Sun turned and led you into the daycare, you allowed the animatronic to do so. It was empty anyway, so you didn’t have to worry about being swarmed by kids who were curious. “I have seen you work with the children and interact with them, but that doesn’t exactly translate to me for what I should be doing on shifts where I spend a lot of time here.”

“Then we can use most of your shift today to give you the information you need!” Sun answered cheerily, apparently unconcerned with your lack of experience. Still holding one of your hands practically engulfed in his own, Sun’s other hand let go to wave through the air. “I can go over what management actually expects from you in the daycare and the theatre.  The gift shop should be self explanatory with the email they’ll send you on that day.” Sun straightened up, golden optics managing to show off eagerness in his static face. “I can give you tips on how to interact with the children, even if Moon and I will be the ones who interact and take care of the children for the most part. Just like you saw before you were assigned here.”

You were relieved to hear the daycare attendant tell you this. It wouldn’t do to get into trouble if you happened to do something wrong and accidentally made a child cry; it was a great weight off your shoulders that Sun would be around to help.

Moon, too, if only he would not toy with you so much more than Sun did.

Yup.

Sun might think it had escaped your notice, since he was not as keen on a chase as Moon. But Sun was a stickler for cleanliness in the daycare, and by extension, the theatre and gift shop.

It did not escape your notice that Sun had you refold towels as a way to distract you and prevent you from moving on to the theatre, which was supposed to be the second half of your shift.

~

You were trapped in the play tunnels of the daycare during a late evening shift.

This was it.

This was either going to be your villain origin story, or you were going to be so overcome with embarrassment  you’d allow yourself to ‘drown’ in the colorful plastic balls beneath your dangling legs.

The mortification of someone finding you like this spurred you into action.

By wriggling to try and get back into the tunnel. It appeared to work, but then you realized you’d dropped the cleaning supplies into the ball pit.

Sighing, you turned back around (awkwardly) but as soon as you reached the tunnel exit to the ball-pit, you somehow managed to get yourself in a worse position than before.

By getting both of your work jacket’s sleeves caught on the plastic rim of the tunnel. You even had one hand comically stretched out over the tunnel long edge above the colorful plastic balls.

And out of reach of the cleaning supplies you’d been intending to retrieve.

Welp.

That had just happened.

You were now officially stuck in place, gazing mournfully down at the ball-pit beneath you.

This only happened because you’d stubbornly insisted upon helping Sun clean at least some of the play structures after hours in the daycare. And you’d done so, despite being well aware that Sun was more than capable of cleaning the daycare himself, especially since it was, as he put it, ‘half the size of the previous daycare.’

As if to spite you, the lights suddenly shut off, plunging you into near total darkness apart from the small, dimmer lights all around the daycare that made it dim but enough for human eyes to see by, should one get caught in the dark of after hours.

Wonderful.

This darkness would allow Moon to be out on the prowl now, including roaming the building as part of the security team.

You just knew that the animatronic jester would locate you in no time at all to-

“Stuck.” Moon’s voice suddenly crooned, the animatronic who was clearly able to contort his body small enough to squeeze into the play tunnels.

…well, if Sun could clean these tunnels, then obviously that was the case.

Moon wriggled his fingers at you in greeting once he saw you lift your head to look at him. Faceplate swiveling briefly, Moon gracefully slid from tunnel to land in the ball out from the tunnel opposite yours. “Not helping.” Moon commented, raising a hand out of the colorful plastic balls to show off the rag and cleaning spray you’d been using to clean with.

“I was nearly done.” You protested, still trapped. “I was coming back to get those to finish up.”

“Hm.” Moon reached his long arm up to set the cleaning supplies just inside the tunnel he’d been in. Satisfied, the animatronic proceeded to slump down into the colorful plastic balls around him. Moon then leaned backward, pretending to ‘swim’ with small motions of his hands as he giggled unsettlingly. Then, without warning, Moon lurched up to clap his hands’ together fingertips to fingertips near your face with a ‘chomp’ sound before the animatronic jester comically (and dramatically) fell back into the ball pit.

If he had just chose to stand up, Moon would have needed to hunch over to not upend his night cap via the ceiling overhead.

To get out of the ball put yourself, you would have had to use the hand grips to hoist yourself back into the tunnel, after stepping up onto the thin foam platform near the grips (you were not wriggling through the smaller tunnels to get out where the children would have gone to leave).

“Missed.” Moon presumably meant his hands pretending to ‘bite’ at your face. The animatronic peered up at you after he’d sunken down into the balls up to his faceplate, his night cap the only other part showing.  Moon was likely seated beneath the plastic balls now, just before he began to ‘swim’ back and forth.  After a long moment of staring unsettlingly up at you, Moon exaggeratedly shook his hat now and again when he resumed to ‘swim’ about to make it look like he was a-

Oh.

You realized that Moon was pretending to be a shark, conformed when the animatronic repeated his lunge, this time ‘biting’ your hair before landing back into the ball pit masquerading as ‘water.’

“Closer.” Moon teased lowly as he resumed ‘swimming’ around in lazy circles within the ball pit.

You decided to move things along by freeing your right arm’s sleeve to warily stick it over the edge of the play tunnel over the ball pit. Silently asking for help with your hand held out, palm up, to let Moon know you’d like some help. Though you were sure that the animatronic jester was likely to finish with the dramatic play acting first before assisting you.

Moon stood up with a hunch in his shoulders to fit the space. With a static, somehow-meet, the animatronic reached over to ‘bite’ down on your hand and wrist with both his larger hands, blue optics glowing in triumph at the capture. Moon’s faceplate swiveled back and forth as a low laugh issued out, the sleeping cap’s tail bell jingling merrily with the animatronic’s motions.

“You got me.” You dryly told Moon. “Would you please help me out now?”

Moon’s head spun in a slow circle one way, then the other, as if in thought. The faceplate snapped back to its normal  position as those glowing blue eyes remained bright. Moon managed to convey mirth with the shifting of the optic lenses as the animatronic stared at you.  Then, Moon began to ‘eat’ your arm, slowly opening and closing his hands as he moved up toward your shoulder. Once he let out a final snicker and a comment of ‘mm, tasty snack’ Moon deftly freed the trapped fabric holding your other arm captive in the play tunnels.

Your embarrassment had faded somewhat, but you were currently acutely aware of how close Moon held himself to the tunnel you were currently within.

Hopefully this didn’t lead to being chased again…

Chasing was one of Moon’s favorite activities with you, and you supposed those instances did, in some weird way, help keep you alert and on your toes.

Thankfully, all Moon had done was did free your clothing, so you would finally be able to scoot backward.

As soon as you attempted to leave, Moon’s glowing eyes flashed from blue to red.

You don’t even get the chance to blink, let alone leave, when Moon carefully, yet firmly, tugged you into the ball pit, accompanied by what you could only deem as an overdone ‘evil’ laugh.

“Got you.” Moon taunted as he slowly brought you under the colorful plastic balls, until only your head is visible.

Soon, you found your back resting against Moon’s chassis.

“No escape.” The animatronic jester’s head clicked mechanically, indicating that it was moving around in slow, likely pleased, circles. “Nighty-night.”

“I need to finish my shift up.” You countered, even as Moon’s arms wrapped around your middle.

“No.” Moon said. “Eaten by shark.” A pause, a gentle tightening of the arms around your waist as the faceplate flopped down to press against the top of your head. “Sleep.”

You didn’t think the animatronic jester was being serious until Moon managed to lull you off into slumber. This was accomplished with the soft chiming of a music box, humming from the animatronic himself, and a blanket that had inexplicably appeared from seemingly nowhere to drape around your shoulders before those arms looped right back around you.

As it turned out, the extra rest did you some good, though this made Moon insufferable for the next few week’s shifts. Whenever you showed any signs of lethargy during that time, be it a yawn, tired blinking or even a slow stretch, you somehow caught Moon watching you.

The animatronic would place his hands together in response to your attention, pretending to rest his head against his hands, glowing eyes flickering off as if asleep. Then, Moon’s optics would snap right back on with a brilliant red glow, right before the animatronic jester bolted toward you with eager laughter. Especially if you were at an appropriate stopping point for your work, and Moon believed you needed a break and/or more rest.

You sincerely hoped that once Moon was able to oversee children’s nap times in the daycare that it would fulfill get his need to get someone to sleep, as he seemed to be doing with his current chasing you down to get you to rest or sleep.

Hopefully Moon wouldn’t be chasing any of the children.

Because for you, it was already a little unsettling to you just how much Moon enjoying pursing you, his optics glowing red more often than blue.

You hoped that didn’t mean anything concerning.

Notes:

I should stop guessing when I’ll update XD it never happens quite how I think it will. Though I am having a lot of fun with it when I can sit still and type/edit. Also entertaining myself with the chapter titles.
‘Till next time!
