Getting Mistaken for Luke

Summary:

One-shot story. While investigating Jigsaw alongside his partner Perez, Agent Peter Strahm encounters Lorelai Gilmore, who believes him to be Luke Danes, due to Strahm's strange resemblance to him, and Strahm ends up deeming her crazy, since he has never met her in his life.

Notes:

Happy birthday, Scott Patterson! What better way to celebrate his birthday than by making a weird Saw/Gilmore Girls crossover! Since I learned that Scott had portrayed Luke Danes and Peter Strahm, I had pictured a scenario where Lorelai mistakens Strahm for Luke, due to him playing both characters. I had planned on watching "Gilmore Girls" since last years and I learned a bit about the show from Scott's podcast, "I Am All In with Scott Patterson". If you're a Gilmore Girls fan and want to know more about the series, this is a pretty solid podcast and I highly recommend it.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Saw franchise or Gilmore Girls. They belong to Lionsgate Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Work Text:

Inside the Metropolitan Police station during the night, FBI agents Peter Strahm and Lindsey Perez were looking through the history of the John Kramer, the man behind the identity of the serial killer named Jigsaw. During their research, Perez came across an old newspaper that shed light on John Kramer's past as a civil engineer and owning a company called Urban Renewal Group alongside his partner Art Blank while Strahm sat on the desk and closely observed an old interrogation tape between Jon Kramer's ex, Jill Tuck, and Detective Mark Hoffman. Both agents knew it was going to be a long night, as they were assigned in helping Hoffman search for Kramer and find the true identity behind the secret assistant helping Jigsaw and Amanda Young

"John Kramer owned a company called The Urban Renewal Group," Perez told Strahm as she grabbed the newspaper and reached her partner. "No irony in that, huh?"

"What was Rigg watching?" Strahm asked.

"Jill Tuck's interrogation," Perez responded. "She was Jigsaw's ex. It's old."

"Why is a SWAT guy watching that?" Strahm pondered as he kept looking at the interrogation tape.

"Strahm, I really think we should tell Hoffman what Detective Kerry said in her last message," Perez suggested.

Strahm sighed. "She said two officers might be in danger, but until we know who, we're not causing a panic."

"If Detective Hoffman or anyone else in this precinct is in danger, I think they should know it," Perez told Strahm.

"Not your call," Strahm advised Perez, who got up from the table and left him to watch the tape alone.

"Luke?" A mysterious voice erupted outside the office's door, catching Strahm's attention.

Upon hearing the mysterious voice, Strahm turned around and noticed a woman with black hair and blue eyes standing at the entrance. Though she was in her mid-30s, the woman maintained a pretty youthful shape, making it less noticeable that she was reaching her early 40s. The woman had noticed Strahm sitting on his desk and resting his legs on the table and was baffled in seeing him in the station, as if she was familiar to him or at least had known him.

"What are you doing here?" The woman asked Strahm. "You were supposed to be at the diner!"

"Strahm, who is she?" Perez asked Strahm, curious to know who was the woman talking to him. "Is that your wife?"

"Uh, no," Strahm denied. "I have never seen this woman before."

"Wait, what do you mean you've never seen me before?" The woman protested. "It's me, Lorelai. The girl who always shows up to drink coffee. Don't do you dare to pretend that you don't know me!"

"I'm sure Strahm had never heard of you," Perez told Lorelai.

"Just let me talk to her," Strahm told Perez as he lowered his legs on the floor and got up from his seat, walking his way towards Lorelai, who had mistook him as this "Luke" guy.

"You've got a lot to explain to me, Luke," Lorelai demanded. "First off, why are you dressed up as a cop? I never knew you were into acting. Second, who is this young lady that's much hotter than I am? And lastly, why do you look like Patrick Dempsey with this clean-shaven face? You don't look like yourself." Lorelai then pulled out a blue baseball cap out of her jacket. "But luckily, I got your favorite baseball cap with me, so..." She then placed the baseball cap in a backwards position, just like the "Luke" guy would wear. "...Here you go."

Strahm let out an exasperated gasp, being uncomfortable of looking like a high school jock with that backwards cap, while Perez laughed at seeing Strahm looking like this, causing Strahm to glance at her in annoyance and Perez keeping her laughter down.

Strahm sighed as he took out the cap out of his head. "Look, Ms..."

"Gilmore," Lorelai told Strahm.

"Ms. Gilmore. I'm in the middle of investigation here and you just humiliated me in front my partner, so it would be better for you to leave the station before things get worse," Strahm trailed off, clearly not familiar with Lorelai.

"Oh, no, no, no, mister," Lorelari protested. "I am not leaving until you go back home with me. You've got a whole diner to run!"

"What?" Strahm asked, confusion wearing his voice.

"You diner. Luke's diner. The place you built from your father's hardware store. You always keep it open every day until 10 am. The place where Rory and I always come there for coffee," Lorelai said rapidly, leaving Strahm even more confused. "God, why am I talking so fast?"

"Ok, you're crazy. Let me take you outside," Strahm told Lorelai, brushing off her comments as he took her arm and began walking her away. "C'mon."

"Hey, what are you doing, Luke?" Lorelai insisted Strahm, who was accompanying her to the exit. "Look, if you wanna keep ignoring me and calling me crazy, fine, but don't you ever dare try and kick me out of your life! Now's who's gonna be managing of the diner without you around? Who's gonna be feeding me and Rory?"

Perez heard Lorelai's yelling from outside the office door while in her seat, before the sound of the door closing down, indicating that Strahm had just took Lorelai outside the police station. Perez had a plenty of questions surrounding Lorelai and the "Luke" guy she kept mistaking Strahm for, but she knew that Strahm would get annoyed about it. Having just walked Lorelari outside the station, Strahm headed back to the office and saw Perez raising her eyebrow in surprise.

"What?" Strahm asked as Perez kept glancing at him.

"You know, that was..." Perez told Strahm. "...really weird."

Strahm let out a exhausted sigh. "Tell me about it."

Notes:

And that's the end of the story. I hope I really tried my best with the story, but Strahm would definitely be confused by Lorelai mistaking him for Luke Danes and not understanding what she was saying. I'll be honest, I never had the idea of having Strahm wearing a backwards cap for this fic, but I thought it was humorous and Perez would clearly laugh at her partner wearing a backwards baseball cap like a teenager, since Strahm is usually a more serious person.

Let me know your thoughts on this chapter and I hope you want to see more. Until then, stay safe and take care.
