Enough

Summary:

"Now if you don't mind, I'd like to go back to my book. Or is even that a bother to you?" Spencer asked, raising an eyebrow.

OR

Emily interrupts, and Reid snaps.

Work Text:

Emily should have just listened. Now Spencer was ignoring her, and it was worse than being yelled at.

Several moments ago

"So," Emily began as she slipped into the seat, "what you reading there?"

Spencer looked up. "Hmm? Oh, this? Um, 1984 by George Orwell. It's a dystopian novel set in, well, 1984. Essentially, it's about totalitarianism, which is basically a government that seeks to control everyone's lives. It's ruled by a single party or one person who uses media to-"

Emily yawned, out of pure drowsiness. Apparently Spencer saw it differently, because he slammed his book shut.

"What's wrong with you?" He hissed. "You ask questions, then you interrupt me. I'm sick of it, Prentiss. I'm sick of you. You, Jennifer, Morgan, you're all the same. I ramble, tell something that is relevant to the case, and you cut me off. Bad enough that you do that, but your way is what really pisses me off."

"Reid-" Emily started, then flinched as Spencer literally snarled.

"You think I don't see it?" The doctor continued. "Huh? You think I don't take into account the subtle eyerolls, the sighs, the abrupt standing, the sarcastic remarks? Well, news flash: I do. I count each offense, Prentiss. I count each offense, and remember it.

"Spence."

Emily looked up. JJ was standing behind the doctor, hand on the headrest.

"This applies to you as well, Jennifer. Sit down." Spencer snapped. The blonde did, squirming in uncharacteristic nervousness.

"I have lost count of your casual and rude dismissals. All these years you are like that. And I've had enough. So from now on, I will be direct to the point. If I say anything vague, it's now up to you to decipher."

"Spence, please-" JJ began, but a glare from the doctor cut her off.

"Now if you don't mind, I'd like to go back to my reading. Or is even that a bother to you, too?"

In answer Emily and JJ stood up. The last thing the latter heard was a muttered 'good riddance'.
