The Overview Effect

Summary:

In her first life, she was an experienced pilot and astronaut. In this life, she controls gravity.

or, Ochako's quirk is powerful, she just lacks the knowledge on how to use it. In this fic, she has all that knowledge!

"When I looked up and saw the Earth coming up on this very stark, beat-up Moon horizon, I was immediately almost overcome with the thought, 'Here we came all this way to the Moon, and yet the most significant thing we're seeing is our own home planet, the Earth.'" -Major General Bill Anders, USAFR, Apollo 8 Astronaut, NASA Group 3

Chapter 1: Blast Off

Chapter Text

Nitrogen tetroxide is used as an oxidizing agent in one of the most important rocket propellant systems because it can be stored as a liquid at room temperature.

This didn't go through her mind when hurtling back to Earth, one unconscious crewmate, and the rest of her crew panicking. She pushes herself to grab four gas masks, putting one on herself before putting one on her unconscious crewmate. Lights were flashing, turbulence was making it hard to tighten the straps, and she could barely think straight.

She sighed in relief, everyone had their masks on and were no longer breathing in the toxic air. A switch must have been flipped in the wrong position, a button pressed, because there shouldn't have been toxic fumes being ventilated into the cabin. She jerks upward as the parachutes deploy, they are still on schedule and right where they need to be, when something falls and breaks the eye portion of her mask.

Immediately that feeling is back, eyes burning, tongue tingling, nose hurting. She scrambles to take it off and get a new one, but she feels them land in the ocean water just outside of Hawaii and she blacks out.

Her official cause of death is Nitrogen Tetroxide poisoning which led to chemical-induced pneumonia. Her lungs had edema, she had an abrasion on her forehead, and her bones had deteriorated from her time in space.

She landed back on her home planet with a final breath of toxic fumes, and the next moment she breathed sterile, but clean, air and wailed like a baby.

The Uraraka family lacked a lot of things. Money, a working dryer, nice shoes. But they never lacked love. Ochako would lay on her mothers warm chest and felt comfortable, her father would always make time for her no matter how busy he was.

Callused hands from heavy construction work, the hum of an old radio as it played soft rock in the kitchen, and staying up late to greet dad after a late shift.

Even when she was too odd to be a regular child. (The stars look different here, not the same constellations.)

Especially when her quirk came in. She had floated their dinner table to the ceiling, and she barely slept for the next week. She would float one thing, stare at it in disbelief, and then release it. Her mother had a touch activated telekinesis, she often used it to carry hot dishes to the dinner table. One touch and they followed behind her, almost like she was their center gravity and they were orbiting her. Her father had the ability to make things either very heavy, or very light, which helped him a lot when it came to construction work.

At the age of 5 she sat her parents down on the couch and talked to them with barely concealed manic glee.

"Ma, pa, I could revolutionize the air and space industry. I could reduce launch costs, deploy satellites with more precision, help with space station construction... Do you know how hard it is to transport materials in space in microgravity?"

Most toddlers wouldn't be able to pronounce half of these words, let alone understand them. The Uraraka family considered themselves blessed to have produced such a bright, brilliant, young girl. Though, that didn't stop them from being stumped at some of the things Ochako would say.

They stared at their daughter with wide eyes, unsure of what to say, so she continued herself.

"JAXA or even NASA would hire me just for my quirk alone! But if I also have the grades and brains to back it up? They will try to hire me out of high school!"

Her father sighed heavily, blinked rapidly as he tried to think about what to say. Her mom tilted her head with a frown, "What's JAXA? What's NASA?"

Ochako bursts into tears later that night when she realizes that there are no space exploration agencies, in fact space exploration and study are practically unheard of. The closest equivalent are the satellites built on I-Island.

After a quick breakdown she takes a few deep breaths, and concludes that she has a lot of work to do.

The Influence of Heroes on Society: How Power and Fame Shape Our World
The Japan Times
Rita Kenta

As someone living in a society built around heroes, it's easy to forget how much influence they wield beyond their Quirks. Heroes aren’t just out there saving the day from villains — they’re everywhere. They’re in the news, on billboards, and even running businesses and nonprofits. You can’t go anywhere without seeing a hero's face, whether it’s promoting a new product or hosting a charity event. They’ve become more than symbols of justice; they’re powerful public figures, and that comes with its own set of benefits.

Heroes and Publicity
The truth is, being a hero automatically gives you a platform. The top-ranked heroes, like Endeavor, Hawks, and of course, All Might, have massive followings. All it takes is for them to put their name on something, and people will flock to it. Heroes are idolized. Their actions and endorsements carry so much weight that they can launch a product or a movement with just a word. In fact, most heroes don’t even have to try that hard to get attention — society gravitates toward them.

It makes sense. They risk their lives to keep us safe, so people want to support them. But it’s more than that. Heroes inspire hope. And when someone like All Might opens a foundation to help children, or a hero like Best Jeanist launches a fashion brand, people aren’t just buying a product or donating to a cause — they’re buying into an ideal. Heroes stand for something bigger than themselves, and that’s something people want to be a part of.

Hero-Owned Businesses and Nonprofits
Because of this fame, it’s no surprise that many heroes have started their own businesses and organizations. For example, you’ve got Ryukyu, who runs a nonprofit focused on disaster relief. With her Quirk and team, she’s uniquely equipped to handle large-scale emergencies, so naturally, people trust her organization to get the job done. Her name alone gives the nonprofit credibility, and donations pour in without her having to market herself like a regular company.

The "Endeavor Agency" pulls in some of the best and brightest every year. His success as a hero directly translates into his business because, honestly, who wouldn’t want to be trained by the top pro?

We’ve also seen heroes like Hawks, who’s turned his reputation for speed and efficiency into a highly successful agency that works with companies on everything from logistics to security consulting. Again, the power of his name gives him a leg up that ordinary businesses just don’t have. He can build a team, open a new branch, and attract investors faster than anyone else because he’s Hawks — people trust him.

A Society Built Around Heroes
At the end of the day, our society revolves around heroes. They’re more than protectors; they’re icons, business owners, and leaders. Their power extends far beyond their Quirks. And while that can be a good thing — after all, who better to lead initiatives than those who have proven their dedication to justice? — it also comes with challenges.

We need to ask ourselves whether it’s fair for heroes to wield so much influence in every aspect of life. Does their fame give them too much power? Or is it natural for people to look up to those who save us daily? Maybe it’s both. Maybe heroes, with all their abilities and publicity, are the best people to lead us, but only as long as they never forget why they became heroes in the first place.

In this hero-driven world, it’s up to us to keep watching — not just to see what villains they’ll take down next, but how they’ll use their power to shape the world outside of battle.

New Satellites Launched to Orbit Earth: What You Need to Know
Fuji News Network
Toujou Soma

Recently, a new batch of satellites was successfully launched into Earth’s orbit, marking another important step in the advancement of global communication, environmental monitoring, and scientific research. Satellites play a critical role in various sectors, from providing internet coverage to remote areas to tracking climate changes and improving weather forecasting. Here’s a breakdown of the latest satellite launches, their missions, and the impact they’ll have on our daily lives.

What Are These Satellites?
The recent satellite launches involve a mix of commercial, scientific, and governmental missions. Some are small, cube-shaped satellites known as CubeSats, while others are large, more sophisticated models with specialized purposes. Each satellite has its own mission, but they generally fall into a few key categories:

Communication Satellites: These are designed to improve internet access and data connectivity across the globe. Some of the satellites belong to mega-constellations like SpaceX’s Starlink or Amazon’s Project Kuiper, which aim to provide fast, affordable internet access to underserved areas. With these new additions, coverage gaps in rural and remote regions will shrink, and overall internet speeds could improve.

Earth Observation Satellites: Many of the satellites launched are tasked with monitoring Earth’s environmental conditions. They carry sensors and cameras capable of capturing high-resolution images of the planet’s surface. These satellites will be critical for tracking deforestation, monitoring glaciers, studying ocean temperatures, and detecting natural disasters like wildfires and hurricanes in real-time. Their data will provide crucial insights for climate scientists, policymakers, and disaster response teams.

What Will Be the Impact of These Satellites?
Improved Global Internet Coverage: With more communication satellites in LEO, internet access will expand to even the most remote areas of the world. This can bridge the digital divide, giving more people access to information, online education, and economic opportunities.

Enhanced Climate and Environmental Monitoring: The Earth observation satellites will provide updated, real-time data about our planet’s health. This is critical for understanding and combating climate change, as well as responding quickly to natural disasters.

Better Disaster Response: With improved satellite imagery, emergency teams can respond faster and more effectively to events like hurricanes, floods, or forest fires. Real-time updates on the location and severity of disasters can save lives and reduce damage.

Looking Ahead
The recent satellite launch is just one part of a larger wave of space activity that’s reshaping our relationship with the cosmos. With satellite technology advancing at a rapid pace, we can expect more launches in the near future, including satellites capable of improving communication, gathering critical climate data, and exploring space in ways we never imagined.

These advancements open new opportunities for business, science, and environmental protection, giving us better tools to understand and care for our planet. As more satellites fill Earth’s orbit, the possibilities for growth and discovery continue to expand. Whether it’s improving internet access, responding to natural disasters, or unlocking the mysteries of space, satellites are at the heart of modern progress, and their role will only grow more important in the years to come.

Ochako spends half her time at the local library, and half her time helping out around the house. Books such as 'Solar Systems: What We Know' and 'The History of Quirks and their Development'

One article that stuck out to her that she read on an old computer with a loud tower, was 'The Influence of Heroes on Society: How Power and Fame Shape Our World'

"Heroes stand for something bigger than themselves, and that’s something people want to be a part of." Ochako whispers to herself, eyes wide as the dim lighting reflects stars in her pupils.

She can already picture it. A ship gliding through the atmosphere, breaking the boundary between Earth and the void. Making history, pushing past the limits of our planet. Not in a race, but in a collective effort to understand and explore. She can skip sending dogs up to space, never to return home again, she can skip stranded astronauts and failed launches.

But, none of that happens without support. And in this world, that means fame. It means becoming someone people know, trust, and look up to. That's why Ochako has to be a hero. It's not enough to just be smart, have big dreams, and go to a fancy college anymore. People need to see you. They need to believe in you. And the only way they will do that? She has to prove she is someone worth following.

It's not like she doesn't care about saving people, she does, she wants to help! Being a hero is hard work, and very important in this world, but it is also the fastest way to get the kind of attention that she needs. She needs the influence to do so much more than just fight villains. She can build something real, a foundation for the future. Something that lasts longer than just a few battles.

'I don't care if people think it's selfish. This is bigger than just me. It's bigger than hero work. We are not meant to stay on planet Earth forever. There's a whole universe out there waiting to be explored. I just need to become the kind of person people believe can make that happen.'

With that, Ochako shuts the computer off and heads home with her mom to help make dinner, a determined grin on her face.

---------

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* Time Skip*:・゚✧*:・゚✧

The Present Mic hologram informed her that yes, she was accepted into the hero course! Her mom screamed with happiness, jumping up and down, and Ochako knew that the neighbors would complain.

Her dad smiled with tears in his eyes, placing a hand on his daughters shoulder proudly.

"Oh my gosh, my wonderful daughter, a hero! Oh my lord, thank the heavens!" Mama Uraraka fell to her knees in front of her daughter and hugged Ochako tightly.

That night the three sat around the table and filled out paperwork. Her father filing for the free lunch program for her, funded by Lunch Rush himself, and her mother filing for free or reduced school supplies, uniform, and textbooks. But Ochako was doing something all little kids dreamed of, she was creating her hero costume!

Many possibilities raced through her mind, colors, design, logos, the likes. She took a deep breath and focused on the basics first, the rest could come later. Operation, durability, safety before fashion!

While she takes some inspiration from both Hawks and No. 13, she also knows very intimately what she will need for her quirk.

She has flown planes, jets, and helicopters. She has freefallen, been caught by parachutes, been to space! She did the astronaut training, experienced G-Force, all kinds of different altitudes.

Humans have many air spaces: sinuses, middle ears, gas in our bowels, cavities in our teeth, and largest of all, our lungs. On land in our daily lives, the pressure in our air spaces is usually exactly the same as the pressure outside, because our air spaces are connected to the outside world.

But above ground? The pressure changes dramatically, and she has to be able to counter that. Luckily, most of that technology already exists.

She would hope that one of the best support departments in the world, excluding I-Island of course, would know how to design a suit like the one she is asking for. But, to be safe, she includes her own knowledge and notes.

First of all, a flight suit. Breathable but warm enough to keep her safe while in flight, fire retardant, and very durable. The jumpsuit would be base one.

Then, the G-Suit. The pants will go over the flight suit, with inflatable bladders which, when pressurized through a g-sensitive valve in the aircraft or spacecraft, press firmly on the abdomen and legs, thus restricting the draining of blood away from the brain during periods of high acceleration. In addition, in some modern very high-g aircraft, the Anti-g suit effect is augmented by a small amount of pressure applied to the lungs (positive pressure breathing), which also enhances resistance to high G.

She'll need a helmet similar to a fighter-pilots, but one that can also convert into a space helmet. Nothing that limits visibility, but something that could enhance it would be nice.

As long as she can be at least to the Armstrong Limit without feeling the repercussions, she will be happy.

The Armstrong limit or Armstrong's line is a measure of altitude above which atmospheric pressure is sufficiently low that water boils at the normal temperature of the human body. Exposure to pressure below this limit results in a rapid loss of consciousness, followed by a series of changes to cardiovascular and neurological functions, and eventually death, unless pressure is restored within 60–90 seconds. Which means that if they fuck this suit up, the consequence is her possibly boiling alive.

She underlines the need for her suit to be pressurized five times for good measure.

The next thing she asks for will be vital to actually letting her fly, instead of just controlled falling. Boosters on the feet, and smaller ones on her back. With her anti-gravity she can maneuver well enough, though really only when streamlining or with force. But it's like a gentle push on a swing, eventually you will come to a stop and it's not easy to control how fast or slow you're going.

So, boosters. And if she took inspiration from Iron Man, well, no one will know because he doesn't exist here.

Something she thought of last minute, was a grappling hook, really for a 'just in case' scenario if she can't use her boosters.

Now that she had most of the practical parts of her suit filled out, now came the hard part. Well, hard for her, rocket science is easier to her than fashion.

The color of the stars is determined by their temperature, with the coolest stars glowing red — similarly to lava — and the hottest stars shining in blue light. Hot blue stars are much brighter than their cool red cousins but live for only a few million years before exploding as supernova, compared to a lifetime of many billions of years for red stars. Therefore, in places where many stars have been born within the last few million years the galaxy will be blue, and in older regions the galaxy will appear red.

And just because she doesn't know fashion trends, doesn't mean she doesn't know the color wheel.

She grabs a purple highlighter with a bright smile.

---------

Ochako has experienced more 'first day jitters' than most people have. Living two lifetimes will do that to you. But nothing quite compares to when she walked through the front entrance at NASA, even if the UA building is beautiful. It reminds her of the Air Force Academy in Colorado. The sleek, modern, tech and the glass windows. She smiles and scans her ID card at the front gate before making her way to her new classroom.

The doors are large, probably to accommodate a wide variety of quirks, or just to show off. Either way, nothing is too heavy for her to lift.

She pushes it open and lets out a nervous breath. 'Just some normal interaction, nothing to be scared about, just... make friends.'

She finds her assigned desk and puts her backpack on her chair and her water bottle to the side. She adjusts her star clips in her hair, and turns to the people in front of her. "Hi! I'm Ochako Uraraka!"

'God this is more nerve-racking than I remember.' A pink skinned girl smiles brightly at her, and Ochako notes her beautiful golden eyes and cute horns. "Hey! I'm Mina Ashido, and this is Tsuyu Asui, who I just met!"

The girl with long green hair and amphibian like features looks at her with wide eyes, but Ochako guesses that is just what her normal resting face it. "Hello, call me Tsu, kero."

"Wow! I'm so glad that that there are so many girls in our class! I was scared it was going to be male dominated." Mina sighed in relief, and both girls nodded in agreement.

"I hope all of us will get along, though I don't hold hope." Ochako mutters, looking to wear an angry blonde boy is arguing with a blue haired boy with glasses.

"Well, if not them, then us girls will pick up the slack!" Mina smiled, already pulling out her phone to get their numbers.

Mina didn't make a single comment about Ochako's older model phone, or the busted case, just sent a text that said, 'It's Mina!!!!'

Ochako smiled, this was just the start of her journey. Because she isn't just fighting for today, she is building the future.

Chapter 2: Planetary Alignments

Summary:

First week or two of UA, friends, costumes, and hi All Might! Hi Present Mic!

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Modesty and shyness were two things that the military had forced out of her in her first life. Once you go into battle with someone, shower with them, share a bunk with them... there is not much else you can do that is more intimate.

So she smiles and talks freely in the locker rooms, tying up her hair tightly and putting on a little more deodorant. "I'm kinda glad we don't have to sit through the introduction, no offense to the principle, but it would probably be boring."

The invisible girl, Hagakure, hums in agreement. "I'm also nervous though! Our teacher seems scary."

Ochako thinks about their homeroom teacher. Long hair, scruffy, yellow sleeping bag. Definitely an underground hero. But his eyes were kind. Far kinder than her drill sergeant at least. "I think he's cool."

The girls shrugged and hustled out of the locker rooms quickly and jogged to the field where their teacher was waiting.

Ochako stood tall, back straight, feet shoulder width apart, hands behind her lower back. She didn't notice, but the girls looked at her and followed her lead too. Aizawa raised an impressed eyebrow, maybe this years class will last longer than his last...

Then the boys ran out, laughing and pushing each other, joking around. They stood around and chatted around the girls, and Aizawa sighed. Maybe not everyone..

"Bakugou. You scored the highest in the exams. Throw this ball, using your quirk. Don't hold back."

The class, minus most of the girls, broke out into excited whispers. Ochako cringed when she heard one boy say how fun and exciting this was going to be.

Aizawa whipped his head around and glared at whoever said it, and the class went silent at his red-tinted stare. "Fun? You think you're here to have fun? The hero course is preparing you for the most dangerous career in our society, and you think it's going to be fun. Okay then, to show you how serious this is, the person who scores the lowest will be expelled. Got that?"

"Yes sir!" Ochako said automatically, the rest of the class following her lead. The boys even stopped goofing around to stare at their teacher, heads bowed in embarrassment.

By the time it was Ochako's turn to throw the ball, she already knew she wouldn't be at the bottom. Not only can her quirk help her physically, but even if she didn't use it she would be fine. She was top of her class without a quirk in her first life anyhow.

She activated her quirk, touching the ball and as it floated up she gave it a good flick and it went bounding into the sky. More than likely lost in space forever.

The class all stared in awe as the tablet read infinity.

---------

She was lucky to be paired against Iida and others in the race. Most people would look at Iida and complain about their luck. Someone with a speed enhancing quirk in a race? Seems unfair.

But, well, Ochako knows how she can at least get second place. She lightens herself, and when Aizawa says start she waits half a second. Then once Iida had got going, she slid behind him and ran in his slipstream. His air current from his speed carried her along behind him, giving her a good speed boost against their classmates. Her legs pumped hard so that she could stay behind him. Close enough to get the benefits, but far enough away to not be burned by his legs.

She crossed the finish line right behind him and wiped the sweat from her face with the bottom of her shirt. Aizawa took down a note, 'Creative with her quirk.'

---------

She scored pretty high, definitely above average. She winced at the poor green haired kid that had gotten chewed out before his ball throw, as he had also scored last place. Oh well, the hero course isn't for everyb- "Oh and no one is expelled. It was a logical ruse to get you all to work harder."

She raised an eyebrow at him. That was definitely not a ruse, but she would go along with it.

In the locker rooms she complimented Mina on her scores and learned that the girl does a lot of dancing, and that's how she is so fit. "Hi, Uraraka right? I'm Yaoyorozu, it's a pleasure to meet you."

Rich, definitely have heard of that family before, strong quirk. Kind eyes. Ochako smiled and replied, "Hi! You did excellent today, your quirk is so versatile. Very cool! I was actually wondering if you could create things like chemicals or gas, like Midnight?"

The girl looked at her in surprise, definitely not used to getting complimented which is insane considering how beautiful and powerful the girl is, "Well, I can practically make anything that is non-living. I can't make things like viruses, but I haven't tried making a gas either..."

Ochako nodded, noting that down in her head. What a powerful quirk. Definitely the most powerful she has seen in this world. "Something to look into while at UA then! Especially considering Midnight is one of our teachers, she would probably help you out with that."

---------

The next school day they had to pick their class officers. They concluded to vote for who they think the Class President and Vice President should be. She put in a slot for Yaoyorozu after taking a second to think about it. She didn't know most of the boys in this class, and out of the girls she seemed the most responsible. Plus, she had an excited gleam in her eye when Aizawa brought it up. The results came out with Ochako as President and Yaoyorozu as Vice President.

Ochako smiled brightly and bowed to the class, thanking them for trusting her with this, even though she knew that all the girls probably voted for her and the boys voted for themselves.

"Wait, led by two girls? Is that okay?" The grape head boy said with a confused look.

"Why wouldn't it be, man?" The red headed boy, Kirishima if she remembers correctly, asked.

"Well, like, there are more boys in the class, so we outnumber them, and also like they won't be respected as leaders because they are females."

The class kind of just stared at him, waiting for him to laugh and say he was joking. But he just stared back. Uraraka blinked and cleared her throat. "Gender doesn't determine someone's ability to be a leader or earn respect. Leadership is about qualities like intelligence, empathy, decision-making, and communication skills. Anyone, regardless of gender, can have these traits. It's important to treat everyone equally and recognize their abilities, rather than assuming someone will be less respected because they're female. People are respected for what they do, not just who they are."

The girls in class cheer, and she smiles at them. Mina even hollers a "Heck yeah! Girl power!"

Even Kirishima and Sero clap along, earning shoulder pats from Hagakure.

"As President I will remain committed to setting goals and agendas, and making sure we fulfill them. Please come to me with questions and concerns, and I will do my best to help." Ochako smiles and looks to Yaoyorozu who stares at her in awe.

"And as Vice President, I will fulfill her duties when requested, and generally be her second in command. I will strive to be a good leader, thank you all for entrusting me with this responsibility." She bows politely and blushes.

"I think my first order of business is to introduce some other roles I would like to see added. A secretary, someone to make sure we are on time, within budget, and in order with everything we do. And a historian, someone to document our class for the UA yearbook. If you're not aware, there is a yearbook class and they are asking everyone to submit photos, videos, and interviews that they can include."

Aizawa huffs a quiet laugh under his sleeping bag, she is a very thorough girl. She must come from a military family, or even a prestigious family.

"...Me and Yaoyorozu will announce the two picks at the end of the week, so be on your best behavior if you're wanting to be chosen!"

---------

While meeting All Might was awesome, it didn't even come close to the feeling she got when putting on her costume for the first time.

It fit perfectly, and memories came rushing back to her. Looking at the Earth from the ship window, floating around with her crewmates, flying with her fellow pilots and pulling crazy maneuvers in the clouds. It was, in one word, perfect.

The purple was a dark, deep, purple that circled her waist and legs. It reminded her of the inky night sky, and it blended into a lilac purple as it went up her chest and neck. White material and silver straps made her look a bit like a stormtrooper, but in good taste. She did some high knees to make sure she wouldn't chafe or be hindered.

She fit the helmet over her head securely, the mouth peace suctioning in place exactly like a fighter pilots. She clicked a side button and pieces whirred and very quickly assembled more of an astronaut helmet around her head.

Her palms were bare but you couldn't tell from the hand guards over her knuckles. She wanted to keep the fact her palms were uncovered for her quirk subtle, and made sure that there was a way to cover them as well for if she needs a pressure suit.

"Wow, Uraraka! You look like a real pro! Wow, did you design this yourself?" Mina bounded over to her, circling her to check out the full suit.

"Yeah, most of it! They had a little creative freedom with placements, but most of the components I designed." She made sure all clips were in place and straps were tightened.

"Your mask helmet thing is a little scary, but it would sure give villains a scare!" Hagakure mentioned, and Ochako turned to inspect it in the mirror.

"It is a little scary, huh? I'll talk to the support course. Honestly, I plan to mainly be a rescue hero, so being scary isn't my goal. I would much rather be approachable!"

Mina nodded in agreement as they all walked to the gym together. "Well, we could always put like a smiley face on the front!"

The girls giggled and quieted down as they made it to the training grounds with All Might. But that did give her an idea...

She did a quick check to make sure everyone was here, and subtly pushed everyone to line up in front of All Might to await instruction.

---------

Battle Trials being their first training experience seemed... not smart at all.

The first year should be primarily building up strength, agility, and team based exercises. Things like scenarios and simulations should be a bit later, after they learn theory first. They needed clear expectations before essentially hitting each other at full strength, because that's all these kids know for now. They can aim their quirk and unleash it, but that doesn't work in the real world.

She wonders if All Might got a teaching degree or if he was just hired because he... asked. Aizawa seemed like a competent teacher, besides his napping habits.

---------

"Okay guys, before we start. We don't have any formal training yet. Some of us are more experienced than others, please keep that in mind. While this is a measure of our abilities, it is still important to note that things can get dangerous. We can't afford too many accidents or injuries. Stay calm, don't let emotions drive your actions. Always think before you move. If you're unsure about something, hold back and observe. I would also like to keep the comms open so that All Might can instruct you if needed, or you can ask for advice if you need it. This is a learning experience, not a competition."

Ochako grinned when most of the class nodded, but she would still have to work on them. By the end of the month they would be shouting 'Yes Ma'am' or 'Yes Sir'

Good memories, good memories.

All Might sweatdropped at the little girl who basically commanded more respect than him, the number one hero. Then again, she sounded right, and talked like she knew what she was doing. Maybe Battle Trials isn't a good idea for the first day... But no, he has to see Midoriya's potential. That is more important than anything else, including training these students.

---------

"That is a terrible idea." Ochako crossed her arms and glared at the green haired boy.

"Whaa!?" Izuku choked on his spit, his first time talking to a girl and she already hated him, dang it!

"You came into this with bad blood with an opponent? You should have said something and you would have been switched. And, we all know you can't use your quirk without hurting yourself yet. You want to risk breaking both your arms during our first heroics class? That is idiotic." She paused and took a deep breath, collecting herself, "At this rate your arms will be useless with chronic pain by the end of this year, which would be the end of your hero career. So no, you're not going to 'lure' whoever Kacchan is away to fight him and bring down the roof over both of you. That is dangerous, and stupid."

He could probably kneel over and die right now, honestly, the heat of her gaze made him feel like he was pressing his face onto a lit stove.

"Besides, if this was a real scenario, doing that would set the bomb off and kill everyone inside. We should be prioritizing stealth first and foremost, and only fight if we absolutely need to."

"B-but.."

"We'll go in through the roof. They probably took it to the top floor, the furthest wall from us to buy time. They don't know that I can fly, so they are expecting us to come up the stairs. If Kacchan is as explosive as you say, he'll be searching top to bottom, so Iida will be alone. If it comes down to it, and we need to fight, let me do it."

She gave him no room to argue before she whipped out her grappling hook and fired it to the roof, it hooked securely onto the concrete and Ochako grabbed Izuku by his waist and hauled them both up after lightening their weight.

He squeaked dramatically and she rolled her eyes, but he couldn't see that behind her fighter pilot mask. She fastened her mouth piece just in case, and quietly moved across the building. When she did things like this in the military, usually she had a gun, or she was just in a plane. This was odd, being empty handed. Maybe she should carry a weapon... hm.

She attaches her grappling hook to the edge and walks down the side of the building quietly, using her quirk to make her lighter. She peeks into a window subtly and sees Iida on the other side of the floor, standing protectively in front of the bomb. No Kacchan in sight.

She moves back up and relays the information to Midoriya, who nods nervously. She grabs him by his waist again and they move further down the wall right behind where the bomb is.

She gently sets Midoriya down on the window sill and he crouches lowly, and she unhooks her hook with a quiet fwip. Iida still hasn't noticed them, and seems to be loudly talking to Kacchan over their comms.

Ochako rolls her eyes and simply touches the bomb through the open window, ensuring their victory.

---------

Bakugou, she finally learned his real name, was pretty much spitting fury when they got back to the observation room. Yelling at Midoriya, or 'Deku', about not fighting him and being a coward.

Ochako immediately stood up to the overgrown toddler. "Your strategy was wrong and dangerous. Someone would have seriously gotten hurt. It is always better to stay cautious than to get hurt. If you can take the chance to not fight, take it. Always. Humans are fragile, do you understand that Bakugou? One wrong move with your quirk and someone is dead. That is very serious. I am very disappointed in both of your actions, and I hope that you learn to correct them in the future."

He at least had the decency to look scolded, mumbling curses and sitting down, clearly not used to being told off. She casted a glance over to Midoriya who muttered an apology and bowed his head.

She looks over to All Might. "I think we should postpone these trials, we clearly aren't ready for something like this. Respectfully, we should learn theory before actually fighting each other."

The pro hero surprisingly looked chastised and leaned away from her. The class stared at her in awe, she could command even the top heroes into submission, wow!

Yaoyorozu, though more subdued, stood to her side with her back straight to show her support.

---------

All Might took at least fifteen minutes setting up the projector and hooking it up to his laptop, to which Kaminari helped him quickly.

"-listeners! Welcome to Crash Course Hero Training! Today we're tackling one of the most important things you'll need to know before you even think about jumping into physical drills: the difference between rescue and combat, and why understanding both is essential. Let's get right into it, ya dig?"

A Present Mic info-video, things that he posted onto Crash Course sponsored by UA, played on the screen. All Might awkwardly cleared his throat and shut the overhead lights off.

[The host walks toward an on-screen diagram that shows two paths—Rescue and Combat. The Rescue path has icons like a life preserver, a stretcher, and a shield, while the Combat path shows fists, explosions, and barriers.]

"When you think about being a hero, your mind might immediately go to combat. Punching bad guys, taking down villains, and looking cool while doing it, right? But here's the thing—being a hero is just as much about rescuing people as it is about fighting. In fact, it’s often more about saving lives than throwing punches. So, before you get into any physical drills, you need to understand these two core elements: rescue and combat, ya dig?"

[Animated scene comes on the screen, where a hero is navigating a collapsing building. Civilians are trapped, and the hero is helping them escape.]

"First up, rescue. When in any dangerous situation, your first priority is always going to be getting civilians to safety. And this doesn't mean just brute strength - it means being smart, calm, and efficient. Here's what you need to know.

[Bullet points with text shows up as the host explains each one]

- Assess the Situation

"Before you leap in, take a second to figure out what's happening. Is the building about to collapse? Are there people trapped? Get the big picture.

- Stay Calm Under Pressure

"Panic spreads like a wildfire, and if you're panicking, so will the civilians. Keep your cool, and they will listen, ya dig?"

- Use Your Quirk Wisely [Video shows No. 13 using their quirk to remove debris]

"Rescue situations require control. Even if you have a powerful quirk, using it without thinking can make things worse. Focus on precision rather than power. For example, in a situation where there is a building on fire, Endeavor isn't expected to use is quirk to make it worse! His focus is on getting people out. Sometimes, your quirk should be put to the side and you need to focus on what you can do without using it. Like I can't scream away every problem, right?"

- Communication is Key

"Coordinate with your team and, if you can, with the civilians. Give clear instructions to keep them safe. A well-timed 'stay low' or 'follow me' can be the difference between life and death."

"Rescue isn't about being the strongest person in the room. It's about keeping everyone alive. That's why, in real hero work, rescue always comes first."

[Cut to an animation of a hero in combat, clearly designed after All Might. He is squaring off against a villain. Combat moves are controlled, tactical, and strategic.]

"Alllllright! Let's talk about combat. Combat is a big part of hero work, but it's not about showing off - it's about protecting others and neutralizing threats. Here's what you listeners need to focus on before starting physical drills."

[On screen text with bullet points as the host explains each one.]

- Don't Rush In

"Your first instinct might be to jump into battle, but good combat is all about strategy. Look at what the opponent is doing before you act."

- Prioritize Defense

"Your goal isn't to deal the most damage, your goal is to protect yourself and others. Don't forget to block and dodge, y'all! Staying on your feet keeps you in the fight."

- Quirk Control [Video of Endeavor avoiding burning a high profile villain to a crisp, and instead just heating up the surroundings so they get tired quicker]

"In combat, just like in rescue, quirk control is everything. Going all out without thinking can hurt innocent people. Practice precision and restraint before thinking about big, flashy moves."

- Teamwork Over Individuality [Video of pro hero Midnight working with Edgeshot to apprehend a villain]

"Hero work isn't about being a lone wolf. Combat situations often require you to work with your teammates to take down a threat efficiently. Learn how to communicate and coordinate during battle."

"The goal isn't just to win, it's to win smartly. That means keeping civilians safe and neutralizing threats without causing unnecessary destruction."

[The scene changes and the host is standing between the two animated scenarios, one side rescue and the other combat.]

"So, how do you balance rescue and combat? The truth is, as a hero, you need to be able to switch between these modes quickly. One minute you're rescuing civilians from a burning building, and the next, you're fighting a villain in the middle of that fire. It's all about awareness and adaptability."

[Bullet points with text shows up as the host explains each one]

- Switching Gears [Video plays of pro hero Ingenium moving civilians to safety, a villain in the background getting up after Ingenium knocked them down to rescue the innocents]

"You need to be ready to pivot at any moment. Stay alert for any changes in the situation. Is a villain coming your way while you're in the middle of a rescue? Are civilians nearby while you're fighting? Knowing when to change your approach is critical."

- Rescue During Combat [Video of pro hero Ryukyu covering civilians with a massive wing, and using her other to create wind to blow a villain further away so that they could get to safety.]

"Sometimes, combat and rescue overlap. You might be fighting while also trying to evacuate civilians. In these situation, it's vital to protect those around you, using your surroundings to create safe zones while you deal with threats."

"Listeners, being a hero means knowing when to fight and when to focus on saving lives. And sometimes, you'll need to do both at once."

[A video shows a group of UA students going through basic exercises in a controlled environment. They're learning to dodge obstacles, lift debris, and make quick combat decisions.]

"Before you jump into the full physical drills, remember this: rescue and combat are skills you need to practice. It’s not about getting it right the first time—it’s about improving with every situation you face. In the next phase of your training, you’ll learn to combine physical conditioning with these core principles, so you’re prepared for whatever comes your way."

The bell rings and All Might awkwardly bids them all goodbye before rushing off.

---------

Aizawa found it very suspicious when All Might didn't give him any reports on what happened the first day of heroics. The hero had been adamant and excited about the first lesson, which was supposed to be an interactive lesson on quirk use restraint during combat and rescue scenarios.

The next day after their first class, he pulled Uraraka to the side. He could understand why she was chosen to be president, she was responsible and well spoken.

"All Might forgot to tell me how yesterday went. How was the lesson?" He rubbed his left eye tiredly, leaning back against his desk.

"He started us off with putting our hero costumes on. Then separated us into pairs to go against each other in Battle Trials. A simulated environment where two heroes had to get a bomb from the villains. However, after the first teams went, it was clear that we were underexperienced so I convinced All Might to take us back to the classroom, where he played the first video of Present Mic's Crash Course series."

She relayed the information calmly and efficiently, and Aizawa resisted the urge to either bash his head into the wall or slap All Might silly.

"Thank you for telling me, you did good kid. Anything else you think I should know?"

"I have seen some pretty serious arguments and tension between Bakugou and Midoriya, I would advise to not pair them together until they can work together, at least somewhat. They were ready to maim each other before I stepped in. As in, collapse an entire building on top of each other. My suit has body cam footage, if you would like me to forward it to you."

Aizawa sighed and put his head into his hands. "Yes.. thank you. Go to class, I'll write you a note."

---------

During lunch an alarm went off and people quickly went into a panic. Her class immediately looked to her for guidance and she relayed what the school protocol for the alarm is. "Single file line, calmly make your way to the fire exit, stay with your class."

She yelled over the chaos, making sure that Yaoyorozu had a hand on both Hagakure and Mineta, one being invisible and the other being tiny would make it easy for them to get trampled.

Ochako growled under her breath when she realizes that the other classes were all going crazy, and there wasn't a sign of a single teacher or class president besides her that she could see.

She grabbed the tallest guy near her, Iida, and told him her plan. She floated him up above the exit where a possible dangerous stampede was starting to form.

"Everyone! We need to stay calm, form two single file lines. Stick with your classmates and gather outside by the gate, where the fire exit is marked! Take a breath, everything is okay! Class Presidents, lead your class and do a headcount to make sure you have everyone!"

His deep voice was loud enough to cut through the yelling, and people somewhat listened to what he said. They weren't very calm, but they all made it outside.

She did a headcount, satisfied that everyone was here. She then went to all the Class Presidents who did their headcounts and wrote down who was missing a person, and who had everyone.

When a teacher finally came around, and handed the note to him. Present Mic smiled and thanked her loudly, commending the students for acting responsibly and calmly. The kids who were screaming and causing a panic awkwardly laughed.

"Nice job listeners! Thankfully, it was only the media who accidentally breached the gate!"

Ochako lined her class up and they all went back to class, but she stopped to ask Present Mic. "Hey, if the media accidentally breached the gate.. why did the fire alarm go off instead of the intruder alert?"

He paused, brows furrowed as he thought about it for a second. "You make a good point! I'll bring it up to the principle, who will make sure something like that won't happen again!"

---------

The rest of the school week was them learning rescue. They did discussions where they talked about how their individual quirks could be used to help. They each were assigned short essays to explain how they would use their quirk in any rescue scenario. Then each of them had to make presentations on a rescue hero of their choice, and present it to the class. Of course, Ochako chose No. 13 as her choice, and didn't notice the small smile Aizawa had in the back of the classroom as they presented.

At the end of the week Aizawa announced that on Monday they would be taking a trip to the USJ, where they would be working on rescue techniques and exercises. Everyone was excited, and he let Uraraka explain what to bring, and if they wanted anything of their costume changed beforehand to go to the support course and put in a request.

She even recommended changes based on what she saw. "Iida, you should probably get a helmet change so that you can hear better. Yaoyorozu, I know you need skin showing for your quirk to work efficiently, but you are leaving your most vital organs on display to be harmed. For now, maybe an armored cape, I suggest working with Power Loader to think of something!"

She went down her list, and even Todoroki was told that his costume was not something that would do well in a fight.

For herself, she thought about what Hagakure had said about her being a bit scary. So she had put in a request that someone named Hatsume thought was a little boring because it wasn't something that could explode.

But, it is a facial recognition holo-transmitter. She could have cute hologram emoticons on the outside of her helmet, so that her face didn't look like an endless void.

All in all, the class was excited for the USJ.

Chapter Text

Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable! Being at least 15 minutes early to anything was something that was crucial to surviving in the military, and was something that greatly helped in all aspects of life.

Ochako made sure that both her and Yaoyorozu were both 15 minutes early and making sure the bus was prepped for the field trip. While they waited for the rest of the class to show up, they discussed their picks for secretary and historian.

"I think we picked two good people for the roles. I know Iida really wanted to be president, so I think he'll be happy to have a job." Yaoyorozu said absentmindedly as she made sure all the emergency exits in the bus worked well.

"Yeah, and Mina gets along with everyone, so she'll make a great historian. Plus, her Instagram is beautiful, and she takes the photos herself! So creative." Ochako turned her head and saw Aizawa walking up to them with some of the class following behind.

"Good morning! Let's form a line along the bus please, choose who you want to sit with and make sure you are standing near them guys, let's go!" Ochako said as she flipped to a page on her clipboard.

"Okay, when I say your name you reply with, 'here ma'am!'" Ochako started going down the list and marking down who was here.

The only person they were missing was Mineta. "Has anyone seen Mineta or know of his whereabouts?"

A chorus of 'no ma'ams' echoed and she sighed while checking her watch. He was officially late by her standards, and she would give him five more minutes before taking off without him.

"Okay, let's discuss expectations. One, when you are on the bus please remain seated. Please do not walk around while the bus is moving. Two, respect others, be considerate to your classmates and the driver. Use quiet voices and no shouting!" She looked pointedly to Bakugou, who huffs irritably and crosses his arms, but doesn't say anything.

"Keep the bus clean too, your lunches should remain in your backpack until we are ready to eat. Your backpacks will remain in the bus and I've been assured that it will be locked up, so don't worry about that. And also, be courteous, we are representing our school today. Be polite, listen to instructions, and show respect to everyone we meet. Okay, load up!"

The all walked onto the bus, thanking the driver as they took their seats. Once everyone sat down she gave a nod to Yaoyorozu, who stood up at the front of the bus.

"Quick announcement before we take off, I want to announce who we chose as the secretary and who we chose as the historian based on what we saw this week!"

The class cheered and waited for the results excitedly, "For secretary, we chose someone who we think will be responsible, and who has shown to have great organizational skills. Iida, congratulations!"

The class clapped for him, and he stood up with tears in his eyes. A little dramatic, even Aizawa sweatdropped at the sight. "THANK YOU for this HONOR!"

Yaoyorozu laughed awkwardly and nodded, "And for our historian, we wanted to pick someone kind and outgoing, someone who we trust to pick what we show the rest of the school in terms of our class! Mina, congratulations, this week you really impressed us!"

The girl laughed and nodded, high fiving Hagakure. "Thanks guys! I'll do my best."

Ochako handed her a camera bag, "This is on loan from the school, and for the rest of the year it's yours! If you need help operating it, go to the computer room sometime after school and they'll get you sorted. Congrats!"

The girl squealed and started to inspect the camera. "I will take SUCH good care of this beauty, don't even fret."

---------

Ochako grinned brightly at the sight of one of her favorite heroes, No.13! Hopefully by the end of today she can ask the hero about their quirk, and their suit, and the likes!

She distracted herself from fangirling to making sure that everyone, minus Mineta who wasn't here because they left him behind, was in the group wearing their costumes. She even grinned at the sight of Yaoyorozu' s new suit design, and the simple design of Todoroki's.

"Your powers are not meant to harm or damage. They can be easily used to kill and maim. I hope that you leave here today with the understanding that you're meant to help people." No.13 said, the hero surprised when the class echoed back a 'yes ma'am' and a few 'yes sirs', Aizawa must have a tight reign on his class this year!

Ochako stepped up to address the class as well, "Okay, the entrance is our meeting spot for if you get separated! The USJ is a large facility, and we are going to try to stick together! Let's all-"

She is cut off by an intake of breath from her teacher, and she turns to see him looking at the center plaza. A portal has opened and... a few figures step out. Ochako notices the confusion and tenseness from both the pro heroes, and knows that this is not planned.

She whips around to her class, "Okay, someone contact the school to send reinforcements. This is not a drill. Remain quiet, and stay together."

There is a moment of hesitation from her classmates but they quickly react to what she said, looking between the plaza and their two teachers. Aizawa pulls down his goggles and jumps down when more people start pouring out of portals in the plaza.

No.13 Takes a protective stance in front of the students. "There's no signal! Something must be blocking it." Kaminari panics, typing frantically on his phone.

Ochako swallows, "Okay Iida, I need you to run as fast as you can to bring pro heroes here and to lockdown the school, got that? If there are intruders here, there may be some at the school as well. Go!"

The boy runs out the door quickly, and Ochako gathers her classmates together. "Okay, we need to evacuate now, we-"

"I don't think so. We came for All Might, but since he isn't here, maybe he'll show up if we start maiming a few of his precious students.." A misty portal guy blocks the exit, and she immediately eyes all the other exits in the building.

Kirishima and Bakugou look ready to charge and she holds them back, whispering, "Don't try anything. We don't know what he is capable of, and you're not trained."

Bakugou rips his arm from her grip but stays by her side anyways. No.13 goes to use their quirk on the villain, their fingers letting out a little of their black hole, but he simply redirects it to the hero via a portal. No.13 is injured gravely before each of the students are pushed into their own portals. Ochako grabs those closest to her and floats them away from the portals and behind a few rocks.

Shit, this is definitely not good. The villains said they were going to maim them? That means that their quirk use will be considered self-defense. She risks a quick glance around the facility and sees Midoriya and Asui drop into the shipwreck zone, and knows they will be fine. Hopefully everyone else is at least with one other classmate.

Eraserhead is still going strong against the large group of villains, but he is slowing down. He isn't used to fighting large groups like this.

The proper thing to do, and what protocol says to do, is evacuate. But, No.13 needs medical attention, the students are separated, and she is class president. She is class president and she has more experience than the rest of her class. She... would feel responsible if something were to happen to any of them.

The mist villain leaves to join the main villain in the plaza, and she immediately rushes over to No.13.

Ochako checks the airways first, clear. Pulse fast and weak, bleeding from multiple areas. "Bakugou, put pressure here. Press hard,"

She guides his hands so that he is pressing on the wound as much as he can, and she listens to the heroes breathing. She curses when she hears what sounds like a collapsed or punctured lung.

"Kirishima, give me your skirt cape thing, now!" Kirishima blinks, face pale at the sight of so much blood, and give it to her with shaking hands.

She rips it quickly and wraps it around the wound tightly. It immediately soaks with blood. "Shit, okay, we need to get 13 out of here, and fast. The mist villain isn't blocking the main exit. We aren't supposed to move someone but I'm confident they don't have a head or back injury.. I have a plan.."

She ends up floating 13 out of the front doors and safely in the grass. With Bakugou holding the heroes head and Kirishima holding their feet, making sure not to jostle them too much.

"Kirishima, I need you to stay here and keep pressure on the wound. When the pros come, tell them multiple intruders, multiple injuries, okay?" The red haired boy nods as he focuses on the injured hero, practically holding their insides together.

"Bakugou, we have to go get our classmates." She turns to the explosive boy, who nods with a violent grimace on his face.

His hands are clenched tightly and covered in blood, his quirk making little pops on his palms.

---------

They find Todoroki and Hagakure first. "They're plan is to kill All Might, but all of these villains are just low-level thugs. The strong ones are likely down there with Aizawa.."

The dual toned boy spoke as soon as he saw them, clenching his jaw at the sight of them covered in blood.

They make their way around, looking for other students. They pick up the emergency first aid kit they find on a wall. Right now, she is trying to focus on finding everyone and getting them out. But Hagakure whimpers and she glances to the plaza and sees a hulking figure smashing Aizawa's head into the ground.

She swallows down her anger and disgust, and breaths out through her mouth. "Hagakure.. keep walking around the plaza to get students out of the exits. Stay silent."

The girl lets out a shaky breath before disappearing from their senses completely.

"Todoroki, Bakugou... our sensei is in trouble.. I am going to do my best to help him, but if you want to leave I will not blame you." She doesn't even look at them, keeping one eye on Aizawa's bleeding body and the other on Midoriya and Asui being pushed away by an invisible force, likely Hagakure.

"Like you could take these losers alone." Bakugou huffs, his voice gravely and lacking its usual heat. That must be Bakugou speech for 'I'm with you.'

Todoroki nods, "What's the plan?"

---------

"The fucker has regen!" Bakugou growled from where he was holding the mist villain down with sparking palms.

The hulking figure that the guy with hands called 'Nomu' looked at Todoroki with emotionless, beady eyes after being pierced with ice and healing. The boy quickly overloaded the figure with even more ice, whipping his arm out for more force.

Bakugou yells curses that didn't even sound like words as he threatened the mist villain loudly, "And don't move hand fucker, or this guy gets it! They'll be piecing together his body for weeks!"

"That's not very heroic.." The hand villain mutters, and Ochako took the distraction the two flashy boys were making to very carefully float Aizawa to safety. They make it practically to the entrance when she hears the hand villain scream.

"UGH! The NPC's took Eraserhead! Nomu, stop playing around." The figure immediately breaks from Todoroki's ice kingdom and hits the boy away, he goes flying and lands a few feet away from Ochako.

She bites her tongue as she tries to focus on practically tying Aizawa together with the gauze from the first aid kit.

Ochako wipes away the blood on his face to assess the damage, and has to breath in her emotions and only look at the injuries clinically. If she were to look at this man as her teacher, she would probably throw up.

But this was just another patient. Another injury. She wasn't a MD, but she knows quite a bit of first aid. And she knows that this is not good.

His eyes have extensive damage, possibly even gouged completely. Blood, ash, and dirt cake his jaw and neck. His torso is shredded and he definitely has broken ribs. His elbow is broken and Ochako can see bone.

She wraps what she can, stuffing gauze in holes and cleaning what she can. At one point she wraps his hair up and out of his face, the long strands caked in blood and tangled beyond belief.

She uses his own capture weapon to securely wrap his stomach, tying it off. Todoroki groans and stands shakily with a pop in his back, but he looks relatively unhurt. Probably just winded.

He eyes her and Aizawa, his face turning a little green before he snaps out of it and rushes to help her. "Hold this, don't move his head, if it soaks through apply pressure."

She can hear a fight happening and glances over. She curses when she sees Midoriya break his arm to punch the Nomu, just for it to have barely any effect.

Bakugou is growling on the ground, clearly having been pushed off of the mist guy.

Ochako gets up. The white on her costume is tinged red and brown with blood, her knees and palms dripping. She presses her helmet and it rounds her head with a quiet whir, and her determined face is covered by her astronaut helmet.

She takes away her gravity and activates her jetpack and boots. She crouches for a second and leaps into the air, speeding toward the Nomu quickly. "Stand down!"

She yells at the thing, not even sure if it could comprehend that. The hand man chuckles, "It only listens to its master, like a good little object,"

Well, that settles that, this thing can't be human. Her mask hologram just has two red eyes on it, unblinkingly staring at the hand villain for a moment before she activates her quirk on the Nomu.

Before anyone can blink, her and the thing are in the air and zooming to the glass dome. She shoots her grappling hook up and shatters the glass above them, soaring into the sky.

The thing doesn't even struggle, and by the time the hand villain even knows what is going on, they are out of hearing range. She pressurizes her suit, her hands being covered as they continue up.

She grins something feral as they climb above the clouds, the stars coming closer and closer. They glow on her helmet, and the Nomu doesn't even react. That's how she knows this thing isn't human. To see something as beautiful as the nothingness of space and not react? Impossible.

She looks down toward her planet and grips the nomu by its back. "I could let you go and you would float in space forever. Well, if your regen could keep you alive in space. But, I think that the heroes will want to question you. Or figure out what you are, how you were made."

The thing doesn't even twitch, just is limp in the hands of her quirk. She floats over him, pressing her hands on his chest and turning her boot boosters on full blast, and they make their way down to the ground. Fire burns around them at the compression of the air in front of them, the thing doesn't even scream as its back is incinerated, its healing keeping it sustained as she punches it into the ground. A crater forms under it, in the forested area outside of the USJ, and Ochako mutters a quick apology to the poor trees she destroyed.

---------

"I AM HER-" All Might pauses after he burst inside the door at the sight before him. A group of villains tied up by tape in the center of the plaza, one teacher outside in critical condition yet stabilized, and another inside surrounded by a protective barrier by students.

Their eyes were wild, not registering that All Might wasn't a threat for a few seconds before they gasped. "All Might! We need an ambulance!"

A pink skinned girl exclaimed, moving out of the way so that he could see the Todoroki boy putting pressure on Aizawa's stomach. He was drenched in blood up to his elbows.

He heard a 'Stay still or I'll float you and you'll be my balloons!'

He looked toward the plaza to see the class president girl yelling at some thugs with the boy with tape elbows standing next to her.

He was too late... it was his fault. He felt numb as medics and the rest of the pro heroes rushed pass him. He overused his quirk this morning, he should have been here. He swallows down the sickening feeling of defeat when the class president walks up to him.

She is covered in blood, though she pushes a medic toward a bruised Todoroki and tells them its not her blood.

"All Might, there is a villain in the forest, immobilized for now but maybe not for long. Regen quirk, very strong. It was made to take you out... I don't believe it's human." Her voice barely shakes as she reports to him, back straight, and All Might sees that this young lady will make a great future hero.

"Thank you my girl! Let the pros handle the rest now! You did good, please rest!" With that, he bounded off to the forest where he finds a huge crater. A black figure is barely struggling under the weight of a large piece of earth holding it down. Probably put there by the gravity girl. He really needs to learn his students' names...

---------

"...don't have to take off work, dad, I'm fine. I barely have bruises." Ochako insists over the phone.

Faint talking can be heard on the other side, "No I know, yes sir. I'll be careful. I have to stay at the hospital with my classmates who are injured. Okay, yeah. Yeah, I love you too. Bye."

Ochako sighs and leans back into the waiting room chair. Yaoyorozu had gone home, as had most of her uninjured classmates. The only ones hospitalized are Midoriya, Todoroki, and Bakugou. Luckily.

Broken arm, bruised ribs, and minor concussion, respectively.

Aizawa and No13 were both in surgery, and Midoriya was still under anesthesia. Todoroki's father had very rudely said that he would not be accepting visitors, so really Ochako was waiting to be let into Bakugou's room. His parents were already in there when she knocked.

"Oh hello, are you a classmate?" His mother asks, and Ochako pauses at the sight of her. Clearly he got his looks from his mom, they could be twins!

"Yes ma'am, I apologize for letting your son get hurt today," She bows low, bent at the waist in an eighty degree angle.

"Hah?! You didn't LET me do anything, space cadet! Shut up!" The boy himself growled, his father pushing his shoulder so that he would remain laying down.

Ochako straightens and smiles at Bakugou, his rough exterior was clearly a front to make him seem cool. She could translate his words, he doesn't blame her.

"I'm Mitsuki Bakugou, his mother. There's no need to apologize dear, it was the villains fault, not yours." The woman held out her hand and Ochako smiled as she gave it a firm shake, something that people in Japan don't do a lot compared to her old life in America.

"Ochako Uraraka, it's nice to meet you Mrs Bakugou. I'm Class President for 1-A."

"Ah! What manners! You could learn a thing or two, brat!"

"HAH?! MY MANNERS ARE GREAT FUCK YOU!"

---------

Ochako bows to the green haired woman, she looked so much like Izuku it was startling. "Miss Midoriya, I'm sorry that your son was injured under my watch."

She stayed bowing in silence, waiting for the mother to respond. She heard a sniffle, and warm hands were placed on her shoulders and she was pulled into a hug.

"Honey, I don't blame you at all. My son is a trouble magnet, even if you weren't there he would've been hurt. A heart of a hero, this one." She pats Ochako on the back gently and smiled with tear filled eyes.

"It's nice to know that he has other people that care for him, however." The mother wipes her face with her handkerchief.

---------

Outside of Aizawa's room a blonde man with long hair stood, taking deep breaths. She spotted hearing aids and a denim jacket. He turns when he hears her footsteps and she realizes that it's Present Mic!

"Hey sensei.. is.. is he.." She pauses, swallowing the lump in her throat.

"Hey listener.. what are you doing here? You should be home kiddo.." He says gently, his tired eyes crinkling with a forced smile.

"I um.. I'm class president. I felt like it's my duty to stay until everyone is discharged, Bakugou and Todoroki are out, and Midoriya will stay the night.." She whispers, biting her lip as she breaths out a long breath.

Present Mic presses his lips into a straight line. He wasn't happy that one of his students was putting this much blame on her shoulders, but knew that it was something that all heroes deal with. No matter how many people tell her that it isn't her fault, she will always feel the same.

Present Mic lays a hand on her shoulder gently, "He's doing good. You probably saved his life, thank you for what you did for him."

She let out a shuddering breath and nodded, subtly wiping her eye as her shoulders relaxed in relief. Present Mic nudges her shoulder and they sit down outside of the teachers room, and only then does she see the wedding band on Present Mics finger. She knows he doesn't wear it at school, never having seen it before, and smiles knowingly at him.

He catches what she is looking at and smiles, "We try to keep that on the down low, yadig?" He whispers like he was telling a juicy secret.

She nods, and mimes zipping her mouth shut and throwing away the key. He chuckles and ruffles her hair. "Well kiddo, you can sit with me, but they say he probably won't wake until the morning. Are your parents okay with you staying here?"
