Work Text:
1. The shrillness in the sound of his laugh.
2. How he spends too much money of shoes, like he’s
always looking for someone to compliment them, for
someone to tell him his worth.
3. The fact that he always wants to stay, always wants
to plant roots.
4. The fact that he does not want you to go.
5. The way that he looks at you like a god, even when
your lips are pressed against his and blood’s on the wall.
6. The way he never opens up, because to open up
is to bare himself entirely, and he will never trust you.
7. The way he likes to dance — slow, rhythmic, precise.
8. The way he makes your hand shake when you touch
him. Even though it’s beyond all rhyme and reason.
Even though he’s been touched by much more violent hands.
9. The way he speaks of the future, even though, to you,
it’s already over.
10. The way you see yourself when you look into his eyes.
