Work Text:

Today was supposed to be a normal day in the Garden. Well, as normal as it can be. The day went as it normally did. Enzo woke up(alone), did some farming, and just sat around. Not much went on that included them, so they mostly just sat around and waited for Asteria, Apollo, or maybe even their beloved, Leo, to wake up.

Judging by the fact that she had woken up without a presence beside her, Leo must be out doing their own things. Enzo was sitting on one of the benches outside of her house, deep in thought, even blocking out the sound of someone coming in through the waystone infront of her.

“Enzo?” Leo’s voice quickly brought her out of thought, “Can I take you somewhere?”

It took a second for the words to process in her head, but once they did,”Oh, I mean, sure?” confusion was evident in her reply.

“Great! Let's go!” Leo excitedly grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the waystone.

In just a moment, Enzo was surrounded by the familiar sight of a forgotten forest, except this time it was different. This place was new, and much smaller than the other forest she had built in. Taking in her surroundings, she saw a small area set up with different kinds of sushi and some tea. “What is this place for? I thought the anniversary had already passed?” Enzo asked, skeptical about what was going on. “Well, consider this a late anniversary gift,” Leo stood in front of her.

“Awh, I didn’t get you anything though. Wait, let me see if I have anything on me.”

“What- No no it's fine- and you’re looking for something you can give to me anyway,” Leo sighed and looked down in defeat.

“Here you can have these,” Enzo handed them a few totems from her bag. “I'll get you more gifts later.”

“No, I don't need anything. You've given me enough stuff already,” they tried to explain, but Enzo probably wasn't listening anyway. After that, silence fell over the two, until it was broken a short while after.

“So, uh, how’s your day been?” Leo dragged out the last word.

“Uhm, it's been fine, I guess, how has yours been?”

“It's been good, yeah, uhm,” they nervously glanced at the area beside Enzo, “I’ll just- I'm just going to get straight to the point here, so-,” they carefully stepped around the food and took a place behind Enzo.

“Woah there- you’re not gonna stab me in the back, are you?” she chuckled nervously, trying to lighten up the mood which had turned almost unbearably awkward.

“No! No- I would never,” they stuttered before continuing,”So, uh, you know that I want to make you happy because, uhm, I love you and, y’know, I hope you love me too and all that,” they took a deep breath before they attempted to continue.

“And- and I want this relationship to have more meaning. Not that it doesn't have any meaning right now-! But, I just want it to have more meaning than what it has now,” another pause.

“What do you mean by ‘more meaning’? Isn't there enough meaning to this as it is now?” Enzo genuinely didn't have a clue what Leo was saying. Was their relationship truly not enough for them?

“I mean, uhm,” Leo let out a sigh, “So, I mean that I’m asking,” they went down to rest one knee which created a bigger height difference than there already was, “Will you marry me?”

Enzo stared in shock, almost forgetting to breathe until they felt the lack of air in their lungs.

“I-” she was immediately cut off by a set of rushed words.

“You don't have to say yes, but I’d like- really appreciate if you did, you know?-” they started to ramble before cutting themselves off to look at Enzo.

“Leo, I mean- of course I would. Why would you think I'd ever say no to you?” she gave them a small smile.

“Wait, so does this mean we are, like, fiances now?” Leo asked, a hint of excitement in their voice.

“I mean, I guess so, I don't see why it wouldn't mean that, you did propose to me after all.” Enzo replied, holding out her hand as a way to help Leo stand up. Instead, they grabbed her hand and used it to pull them into a hug. Although Enzo typically didn’t enjoy most forms of affection, she still reciprocated the hug just as eagerly.

“Oh! I have something else for you as well,” Leo said before slowly backing away to reach into their bag. “Here,” they handed them a diamond and a cyan rose. Looking closer at the rose, Enzo realized there was a tag attached to the stem of the flower. “My Promise,” it read.

“Aw, Leo, this is so sweet of you. Thank you,” she reached to hug them again when she suddenly felt them reach up near their antlers and snapped something hard around the base of them.

“What did you do?” she reached up to feel the foreign object, and she quickly realized that it was a ring. Glancing at one of Leo’s antennas, she saw a seemingly matching ring on one of theirs. At this, she pulled them into another hug that lasted for what felt like hours. Eventually, they pulled away and grabbed their communicator to type something out.

She didn't make a move to look until she started to feel her own spam with incoming messages.

<Leo> “She said YES!!”

<Seiira>”FSJIDNFSD”

<Teri> ”OMGGG”

<Duke> ”LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO”

<Weydie> ”HUH?”

<Weydie>”YOO”

<Teri> ”WHAT DID I TELL YOU, SIBLING”

<Leo>”enzo marriage now”

<Perry> ”Ggs”

Seiira is bleeding. Seiira tried to swim in lava.

Enzo shut off the communicator after that, laughing at Seiira’s actions. “Poor Seiira. One day Haley will wake up for her. Although, I wasn't aware you had told anyone about this. Who all knows?”

“Uhh, I told Duke and Teri before this, but Asteria and Apollo have known about this for a while. Had to get the approval of the kids, you know?” Leo replied, still watching the chat.

“Fair, I'm sure they’ll be happy to hear about this though. Would you like to see where everyone else is?” she asked.

“Oh! Yes, let's go. Duke is with Apollo too, so we can tell them the good news!” Leo excitedly pulled out their communicator to send a message asking where they were.

While they did that, Enzo came to a very right conclusion. Today was normal. Actually, today was the best day of their life. Well, the part of their life that they could remember, at least. But still, she was sure that no experience could top this one.
