“For god’s sake, If only for a night I could sleep in peace…” - Isabella rambled to herself as she composed from the frightening night once more.
There they were again, the strange dreams about a woman with pointy needles as fangs chasing her, the entity’s face still was never shown, as it was briefly covered in her dense red hair.
The dreams were always silent, which made Isabella even more terrified, there was nothing in this world that she hated more than silence, logical to be since she was a musician and a woman of arts.
Isabella had spent half of her life trying to thrive by her own means, in her search for independence and freedom she endured multiple hardships: from being harassed by the drunken men in town to being almost systematically isolated from others.
All because of what? Whatever it could be, they simply didn’t wanted Isabella here.
The nightmares didn’t made it any better, of course, but whom to rely on when she was practically dead for her whole town?
Back to the dream, shall we?
She frequented the uncanny woman in her sleep so many times that Isabella stopped caring about how long she’d been living with those nightmares, at least that’s what she thought until she encountered the woman one last time.
This night was different, instead of an ominous silence there was a tune being hummed, almost lovely, suddenly there she was in all her glory, the peacefulness in her presence contrasted very well with her previous appearances, leaving Isabella strangely drawn to her.
The woman came close to her and whispered:
“When the sun gives itself to the embrace of the noon, find me in the woods if you happen to be so eager about me” with nothing else left to say, she kissed Isabella on her forehead and dispersed into the darkness.
Isabella woke up agitated trying to remember how the woman’s voice sounded like, finding it both angelical and mysterious, she made up her mind and gathered strength to face her unknown fate, ready to find the unsettling woman.
That evening was like no other, the blonde woman was keen into finding the one who haunted her in her sleep… the clues were there all along, weren’t they? She just had to look in the forest’s heart and there she’ll find her…
The minutes went by and anxiety sinked in her chest, wondering if she’ll find her anytime soon, even doubting the entity’s very existence.
It wasn’t until, after a terribly long walk, there she found her, humming in solitude that well known melody, the siren song which she fell in love with not so long ago.
“Oh, good god, but you’re real, you’re really here” - Isabella incredulously muttered when she witnessed the strange red haired woman approaching her ever so slightly, as if an angel landed on earth.
“But of course I am, in dreams I saw you and yet impotence drowned me, how every time you slipped off from me and could never reach you made me go insane” - Florence echoed as her hand rolled over Isabella’s waist slowly.
“Tell me, what have you done to me? Being so attached to someone I met in sleep it’s very impressive, don’t you think?” - Isa teased, lost in the vampire’s crystal eyes.
“I don’t think I’ve done anything to you, corresponds to other asking what have you done to me … I’m surely spellbound” - Florence brushed over Isabella’s hand, leaving a soft trace of her lipstick.
“I am no witch nor devil, darling, as there’s no way for me to bewitch you, perhaps other questions should be raised … who are you?” - Isa wondered, waiting for the woman to spill her truth.
“My name is Florence, and as of the rest of me, or where I’m from, it’s better now not to unfold, there’s abundance in rumors towards those of my kin“ - she shyly said, her eyes were now lost into the hazel landscape.
“I’m Isabella, more than pleased to meet you, my town is not so far away from here if the thought of going there ever crosses your mind” - Isabella proposed, painting a small grin on Florence’s face, disappearing just as quickly as it came.
“I fear that I may not be able to go there, so many unpleasant people … you may understand “ - Florence mumbled with certain melancholy, cupping Isabella’s cheek and giving her a disappointed look.
Isabella stared at Florence and the forest behind her, and requested:
“Could you allow me to meet you here instead? None of us will be at the stake of others if we had our encounters here, right?”
“If that means that you shall always bring nice books then I’ll be more than pleased … I hope we’ll come to a point of full understanding of each other, Isabella” - Florence queried with hope lingering in her eyes, sealing their promise under the mighty pines over them.
It was not only one or two hangouts within the forest’s walls, multiple evenings were spent in each other’s company, either it be reading or simply listening to the vampire’s heavenly singing, their feelings flowed just like a pristine lake in summer and the time to seal them had finally arrived.
“Tell me, Isabella, what hides in your heart at the moment? For as short as your existence is, you’ve seen all the faces of life, you must have something going on there” - Florence asked as she played with her hands, never daring to look up.
“An affair, you mean?” - Isabella murmured “I guess I have one, I don’t think I’ll allow myself to be this vulnerable with anyone, but you, you shall be mine”
Florence stared at Isabella with a bit of incredulity, as she never conceived the idea of her feelings to be matched with anyone, but now it seemed that it was possible.
“I must admit that I remain with guilt from scaring you, my intention was never to harm you, I just didn’t knew how to approach at all, but how pleased I’m to know that you feel the same, soon you’ll know who I really am” - Florence uttered, finally giving a tender look at Isabella, who was visibly flustered.
“I see now that we’re intertwined, aren’t we?” - Florence suggested playfully
“Indeed, and I hope to never leave your side as now you are mine, I’m yours” - Isabella shushed, cupping Florence’s cheek
“You and I will be one forever …” - Florence replied with a voice similar to a chant
They exchanged a kiss with the hopes of making it last for eternity, in the middle of the forest the promise of a genuine love was set.
Their present and its new implications seemed terribly uncertain, nevertheless they were so ready to face them all, they would die in each other if necessary.
