A Faknax's Legacy

Summary:

In a world full of magic Türkiye is born without any, he lives alone in an isolated area and his life isn't anything special, that changes when his father comes back looking for him and a mysterious adventurer appears at his doorstep.

"We have found out that you're not the only one searching for the child of yours"

"Go on..." Ottoman said intrigued, but he could've expected the answer that the guard was about to give him, after all they had the exact same thing "The ruler of-" the guard said but was interrupted by Ottoman, who's calm expression turned into one of anger
"I should've guessed he's going to come after my son too... that bastard" Ottoman stood up and walked up to the guard "Put more work into the search, I want all guards on this case, we CANNOT let him find my son faster, if he does it'll all be over." he said "I'm joining the search myself, inform everyone, and start preparing for a potential war."

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

In the world of many vastly different magical beings and kingdoms, some stronger, some weaker there's bound to be conflicts. In fact most of them are caused by a single kingdom alone, this kingdom being the Talryka Kingdom, led by a strong man, possessing the power many wish to own, that being United States of America. Son of the famous king Great Britain who once led the strongest kingdom in the world, although currently he is no longer leading his kingdom, he is still respected by many. He had other children, but none of them gained the power their brother America has.

Despite their power, this story isn't really about them, it's about someone else, someone less known, just a guy living in a village all by himself named Türkiye.

Türkiye lived in a small village all by himself, some suspect he was so dangerous that other people ran away, some speculate this village never had any citizens to begin with. Truth is that neither of these are the case, it was Türkiyes pets that did the job, after a small incident of a giant bird attacking locals the village's number of inhabitants dropped drastically, leaving just Türkiye and his giant birds. He rebranded some of the houses as bird houses for his 2 birds called: Nazlı and Puszek, the birds very much enjoyed having their own houses now that the village was empty. Neither did anyone ever try to go to the village and live there due to the word getting out quickly that there's some terrifying birdman who kills everyone in sight, which was a quite inaccurate description of Türkiye, as neither was he a terrifying monster or a birdman, surprisingly enough unlike most Türkiye was just a simple human.

A son of a strong feared now dead king, was just a human. The son of a man who was capable of burning down entire kingdoms like it was nothing, was nothing more, than a simple human.

Not like it bothered him though, he enjoyed his simple life. He didn't have to worry about ruling over a kingdom or fighting wars, all he had to worry about was going hunting from time to time with his birds to keep them fed. Of course he had some hobbies but many would call his life boring, especially in a world where having some magical powers was a norm. Not to mention how he wasn't a big fan of socializing either, so having no friends was just the icing on the cake. He had all he ever wanted, food, no one bothering him, 2 of his beloved pets who helped him fight many types of magical creatures. What else could a man want?

Well he was missing something, that something being his family who he left behind all those years ago, the one who he missed the most was his older brother Azerbaijan, despite his brother being a Takesh they still bonded well. Azerbaijan never really had any magical abilities, he was one of those beings that didn't have any powers, instead he had much greater physical strength. His upper part was a human and the lower part of a Karabakh horse. People always wondered why the son of Ottoman Empire who was a Faknax was a human, but no one ever asked questions due to fear of being literally flamed by Ottoman. Türkiye’s life was never hard, but after his father died he too disappeared.

That's how he's here now, and he doesn't really regret his decision. He was woken up at 4am in the morning by Puszek, who wanted food again.

“Come on Puszek! We talked about this!” Türkiye yelled at his bird who was banging at his door, he got dressed and got out of the house “You can go get food yourself!” Türkiye looked at the bird who lowered his head, it looked at Türkiye's angry face and licked him “HEY!-” he yelled, this caused his other bird Nazlı to come and see what's up “Do not.” Türkiye looked at Nazlı who immediately hit behind a building, he got up and sighed “Fine, we'll go hunting again, just let me get ready”

He then came back to his house to eat something himself, he had a lot of food, probably would be enough to feed him for next few months, the birds had to eat so much that even if he kept little of what they got from hunting he would have way too much. After he finished eating he took his bow and left the house.

“Are you guys ready?” Türkiye asked as he closed the door behind him, one of the birds let out a happy noise “Great! Let's head out then”

The three of them went hunting in a nearby forest, it wasn't that far from the village so they could just walk there. In the forest they killed a few animals like always, the birds ate some of them immediately, not something Türkiye was a big fan of since it meant they needed to hunt even more but he never bothered to stop them.

“I think that's enough” Türkiye said and picked up another dead animal to put it into a bag on Nazlı’s back, he looked at Puszek who was pointing in some direction “What's going on buddy?” Türkiye asked, the bird let out a worried noise “Someone's here?-” Türkiye looked around and saw someone, it wasn't just a hunter or a traveler, no, this person was wearing a some sort of uniform, mainly blue colors, he had some kind of emblem on his shoulders, but it was weird Türkiye didn't recognize it, he could go there and see who it was but he didn't know if it was worth it, most people who saw him just run away so it would be stupid to bother even approaching the guy, but the fact that it was a guard made him want to go, guards are never in these types of forests, his village is far away from any kingdom. He took a breath and made the decision “You two stay here, I'm going to see what's going on” Türkiye said and went in the direction of the guard.

“Hello sir?” Türkiye asked

The guard jumped a little because he wasn't expecting anyone here “Oh, hello” the guard quickly became serious again

“May I ask why you're here? I mean of course it's okay if not but you don't see guards in these parts often” Türkiye said

The guard inspected him with his eyes “We're looking for the inherit of Faknax power, we're tasked with retrieving it for our master” the guard responded “I don't think you've seen anyone like this have you? I mean you're just a human, I doubt you would even survive an encounter with one!” he laughed

“Haha, yeah right” Türkiye forced a laugh, maybe he is a human but he is not defenseless, and besides his own father was a Faknax, he didn't just survive an encounter he lived with one! “But you're right, I haven't seen anyone like this, sorry”

The guard sighed “well, thank you for your help sir” the guard was about to go away when he suddenly turned back “May I know your name?”

Türkiye hesitated “It's Türkiye”

“Thanks” the guard then left, he felt like it sounded familiar but came to a conclusion his mind was just playing tricks with him

“What a weird guy” Türkiye said as he came back to his birds “Don't you guys think?” the birds both nodded “Alright let's get back” he said and they all started heading back home. When they came back he realized he could've asked the guard where he's from, maybe a new kingdom was formed nearby, would be nice to finally have some neighbors that aren't terrified of him. He spent the rest of the day like he always would, not really doing anything special, by the time he went to sleep he had already forgotten about the entire incident…

•••

“WHERE IS HE?!” someone yelled “WE SEARCHED EVERYWHERE!!”

“Calm down your majesty…” a guard said

CALM DOWN?! WE'VE LOST THE POWER OF FAKNAX YOU IDIOTS!! IT'S ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL HOW CAN I NOT BE MAD?!” the king screamed at his guards “Ever since that stupid idiot died it all went downhill…”

“Your majesty I promise you we will find him” one of the guards said

“Why not visit his old kingdom? Maybe they know something?” another one of the guards spoke up

“No… I can't show my face there… not after-” the king paused, he stayed silent for some time while no one dared to say even a word

“Your majesty?” one of the guards asked as the king stared at an empty wall, you could tell from the wall that something used to be there, something that was now just part of the past, left to be forgotten

“I'm gonna look for him myself.” the king said “... I'm going to hunt him down and make sure the power of Faknax stays mine.”

“Your majesty- isn't it dangerous? The Faknax is one of the most powerful magical beings, you can die!” one of the guards said

“Are you doubting my power?” the king turned back and looked at the guard, he went up to his guard and looked him straight in the eyes “You DARE to doubt my power?”

“N-no sir!” the guard said in fear

“Good…” the king said and went back “All of you get out of my sight, I'll make sure that whichever kid of his inherited this power they won't be alive for long…”

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Chapter Text

In a kingdom named Munis things were not going well as the supposedly dead former ruler of the kingdom appeared at the gates of the kingdom on a quiet night out of nowhere,

“FATHER?! What but how! You died, we were there!” Azerbaijan stated clearly confused and trying to get a grip on the situation.

“Oh Azerbaijan, why are you even shocked? Are you questioning my power? After all only the strongest of faknaxes comes back to life don't they?” Ottoman told Azerbaijan with a seriousness in a way it didn't reach any of his features but his voice.

“But it’s been so long. I know you are powerful but it shouldn’t have taken this long!” Azerbaijan stated once again.

“Weird isn’t it? But that doesn't matter, what matters is that we need to find your brother and kill him.”

saying they should find his younger son Türkiye and kill him so that he can gain his faknax powers back.

“So you're saying I need to find Türkiye and kill him? So you can regain your powers you lost when you died?” Azerbaijan asked, still confused on how he came back to life after so long.

“Yep! I mean how hard can it be? That good for nothing child probably doesn't even know he inherited such powerful powers as mine. It should be easy.”

‘He was right but I don't want to kill my own brother. I doubt I can do anything about it though. Ugh this is so confusing he shouldn’t even be alive, it’s been so long! But then again I can’t do anything but listen to him..’ Azerbaijan thought to himself trying to not let it show on his features as to not provoke his father, after all he was still strong even without his powers.

“So do you agree?” Ottoman said while pulling on a facade, probably making countless plans on how to kill Türkiye in his head.

“Yes, I unfortunately do.” Him saying ‘unfortunately’ was fortunately passed unheard from Ottoman’s ears.

“Then that’s great to hear isn’t it? You should send a search party to find him faster, you know?” Ottoman suggested in a way it would benefit him big time in the future.

Upon hearing his advice, the current ruler of Munis Azerbaijan, started searching for a search party that included himself and his father Ottoman to find his younger brother Türkiye so they can kill him and help his father Ottoman Empire to regain his faknax powers.

After that, the word of Ottoman coming back and them trying to find a search party was all around the kingdom. There were a lot of people not believing it was the real Ottoman Empire, after all like Azerbaijan said, it was odd for a faknax to come back to life after so long, but still a lot of people joined the search party as they were scared of what might happen if they didn’t do as they pleased.

When the search party was finally founded they immediately went off to the woods to try and find him, this party included both newbies and professionals, some not even knowing what was happening and just got drifted to the chaos.

_______

“So who are we searching for again?” Asked a newbie guard to another much more professional guard.

“Türkiye.. He is the brother of the king, though I find it odd that we are searching for him.” The guard said, while being confused on why they were even believing the man who came out of nowhere was the Ottoman Empire himself in the first place after he was thought to be dead after all these years. Even if it was not unheard of for faknaxes to come back from the dead after dying, it was still weird for them to come back to life after so long.

“Oh why is it weird exactly?” The newbie asked, after all he was still young so he didn't know much about the history of the kingdom he made an oath to protect.

“He left the kingdom long ago after his brother, now the king decided he was unfit to become the next king after he lost an important battle and well he was just a human so most voted against him being the next ruler of the kingdom.” He explained what happened in past when he was still a kid.

“It still doesn’t answer my question though.” The newbie stated, leading the other to let out a long sigh.

“What I mean is it’s weird how Ottoman came back to life and demanded to kill his own son even though he hasn’t been in the kingdom for decades and the fact that he doesn't have any magical powers doesn't help at all.” The older one among the two explained sternly.

“That’s weird..” The newbie said still not understanding what the other was trying to say but didn't want to take it further.

“Exactly now let’s get back on track, the others started moving faster.” The older one said realizing they are starting to be left behind.

________

I’ve been searching everywhere to find the one who inherited his powers but I just couldn’t find anyone resembling him in the first place! I looked everywhere starting with the Munis kingdom, even if I couldnt inspect that place from near I still watched what was going on within it from afar but I still can’t find a single kid! How hard can it be?!’ The king thought to himself not believing how he couldn't find a single kid. But while he couldn’t find the kid he found something important, Ottoman was back.

After all those years, he was back and it wasn’t good because he knew Ottoman was also in search of the kid and they actually had an advantage so he had to find the kid faster than them.

While thinking of all these the king found himself in a completely different place than he was before, he probably got lost in the woods while he was lost in his own thoughts.

“Ugh where am I now?! I couldn’t have gone so far away, have I?” The king asked himself out loud, looking around to find anything that would flicker a resemblance in his mind.

While walking through the woods he saw a village, it was small and most probably abandoned. Right when he wanted to go look somewhere else, because who would stay in an abandoned village, he saw someone appear in the clearing. The person had two big animals near him. He couldn't figure out what species they were as he was far away but he knew they were huge.

When he went closer to the person the first thing he realized was the person's features; a red country with a crescent and star like him.

Chapter Text

“There's no way-” the king said to himself, to think that he's been so close this entire time, he could go in right now and… wait no that's stupid, how does he even know it's him? There's no visible Faknax features which is how he could've gone under the radar, but this could also mean he's not the true bearer of the power. He started going away from the village and back to his kingdom, only then he realized how far he had gone, he started thinking of a plan “I'll need to investigate, but I can't send my guards- Fuck what should I do…”

•••

“Did you guys see that?” Türkiye asked, he saw someone wearing all blue, couldn't see much aside from that, has it been the guard? Maybe they just wanted to investigate some more, although it didn't really seem like it was the same guard, the outfit was different, while he was thinking about all that he noticed that the figure in the distance was gone “Huh… Looks like I was imagining things-” he laughed a little “Maybe I should really get some friends that aren't my birds!” he said and went back to his house. Although he kept thinking about it, was he really seeing things? That could've been anyone, maybe even a new friend, he couldn't see any typical animal features so what if it was another human just like him? Maybe somewhere there's a human society! Just for him and all the other people like him…

He was sitting on the grass thinking about it all when he suddenly heard a noise coming out of the bushes “WHO IS THAT?!” he yelled, he expected some small animal running out of the bushes but whatever was there didn't move, he got closer and closer when suddenly something or rather someone jumped him. He was left on the ground held down by some weird creature? It's something resembling a smojderk? Wait, no, now it's a Faknax?!

“Wait, you're not the weird rich guy” the creature said

“WHAT ARE YOU?!” Türkiye yelled, was this the Faknax they were looking for? Should he start searching for the guards to take it away? It suddenly jumped him out of nowhere and he can't do anything because he's a human.

“Me? I rob people!” the creature said in excitement then let Türkiye go and got up “Rich people to be exact, you don't really look rich” it said looking up and down at Türkiye, the creature was dressed in a similar clothing to Türkiye himself, didn't really look rich either, would explain the robing part “Who even are you? You know I basically live in this forest, I mean I don't, I move a lot, I've seen you a good couple of times!”

“Wait what-” Türkiye said finally coming back to his senses “How come I've never seen you then?”

“Oh no, you have, I just have many forms!” the creature said “I mean, most of the times I ran away because I didn't want to do anything with poor people like you-” Türkiye just stared at the creature, were half of his life's social interactions a lie and it was all a single creature, how could it even change forms?

“Wait- YOU'RE A ŞEAEELAIELZMKAREEQENMNETYEITEEPT!” Türkiye yelled

“BINGO!” the creature screamed back “You know you're not that stupid after all” it said and turned into a form resembling a human “An Oteń type to be exact! Which means I can turn into the legendary Faknax whenever I want to!” the Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept laughed

“I read about creatures like you” Türkiye said “But why did you jump me now? You said that you were avoiding me on purpose!”

“Oh, like I said, I was aiming for the rich guy! He was walking around here like an idiot, but oh well I missed him, could've gotten rich” the creature said and made a sad expression

“You know now that you revealed yourself can you at least tell me your name?” Türkiye said, he was honestly hoping to finally have a friend after all this time, besides the Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept already said it lived in the forest so it was a great opportunity

“Well, I go by many names…” the Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept said “I can be Ukraine, Poland, Czechia, Belarus, Jimmy, Anna, Russia, Turkmenistan, Japan, David, really anything” Türkiye just stared at the creature, that was an ass answer, cleary the parents gave it a name but it refused to say which one it was

“Whatever-” Türkiye gave up on finding out the name at this point, might just call it the Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept for the rest of its life “You know would you maybe like to be friends?...” Türkiye asked

The Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept just stared at him like if it was staring straight into his soul “Oh, oh no, no, no” it started shaking its head “I don't do that…”

“Oh…” Türkiye said disappointed and made a face of a sad puppy, he was about to leave when the creature spoke up

“HEY- I- I CAN BRING YOU A FRIEND THOUGH!-” it yelled “Just give me some time…” Türkiye didn't know why the Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept did it, did it feel bad for him or something but the hope of gaining a new friend made him happy. Before Türkiye could say anything the creature turned into a fox and ran off, he didn't know what to do next but the more he thought about having a friend the happier he became, he ran to his birds to tell them what happened.

“I'M GONNA HAVE A FRIEND!” Türkiye screamed, his eyes lit up like a little kid who just got their dream gift, he started talking about all the things he and his new friend could do, maybe his new friend would be a human just like him, or maybe they would have magic like that creature. Surprisingly Türkiye didn't even consider that the Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept could be lying, but that's just how he was, clueless to everything in the outside world. Days passed without anyone coming, but that wasn't a problem for Türkiye, he just had more time for preparation, he cleaned his house up some more to make it perfect for whoever was going to come. He made sure to teach his birds how to behave so that they wouldn't scare off the newcomer, he hasn't had neighbors or friends in forever so he thought that the birds needed an update on their manners.

That day he was sitting next to the well that was in his village, he was playing with grass waiting for anything or anyone, when he looked up he saw someone in the distance, the person looked a little lost, but Türkiye knew it was his chance, it had to be a person sent by that creature! He got up and ran up to the guy, he was taller, had feathers on his cheeks, pointy ears and most importantly… two pairs of wings. Türkiye has never seen anyone like this before! Well he hasn't seen much of anyone but he always read books about the species in the world and he has never read about something like this. The taller one had a simple white shirt, gold necklace and golden earrings, Türkiye was starting to wonder if it wasn't the rich guy that Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept was talking about, not like he cared either way. The guy also had a bag and something that Türkiye noticed only now, blue scars all over his face and hands, but those weren't normal scars those more of resembled cracks.

“Hello?” said the guy, Türkiye didn't realize but he has been standing next to him for like a solid minute by now

“Oh- sorry!” Türkiye backed off a little “What's your name?”

“It's, Russia” said the tall guy, or well Russia, Türkiye immediately recognized the name, this clearly meant that it's someone that the creature sent! It probably stole his identity, but this doesn't look like an Oteń type creature which means it can't be that Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept!

“You were sent by a Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept weren't you!” Türkiye asked all excited about a new friend

“Y-yeah!” Russia responded and smiled “You're Türkiye aren't you?” he asked, Türkiye was a little surprised how did he know his name but guessed that the Şeaeelaielzmkareeqenmnetyeiteept just told Russia his name that it found out during one of their encounters

“That's right!” Türkiye said “Come on! I'll show you around!” he then grabbed Russia's hand and ran off with him

First Türkiye showed him around the houses and told him where everyone lived and how the village was before everyone well… abandoned it. He showed Russia the well and how it works, for some reason he came to a conclusion Russia wouldn't know what a well is but it was probably just his excitement. He also told Russia all about his hunting stories, surprisingly Russia didn't fall asleep while listening to Türkiye talking about some of the most boring stuff ever. Clearly Russia was a great listener. When it got late Türkiye made a campfire so he and Russia could talk some more but also eat.

“Hey, I wanted to ask, what exactly do you do?” Türkiye asked while cooking up some meat “All day I've been talking about myself but I never asked about how you feel!”

“Me? Oh I'm just a simple adventurer from the north, you know, the places where snow falls?” Russia said and looked at Türkiye

“That's so cool! I've never been to those regions, father said it's too dangerous for humans like me” Türkiye said and started eating

“It kinda is, it's very cold out there you know?” Russia said “I lived there with my many siblings”

“You have siblings? I have a sibling too!” Türkiye said “His name is Azerbaijan and… he's a Takesh… unlike me who's just a stupid human” he saddened

“Hey, don't say that, life isn't all about magic” Russia said

“It is though! If I wasn't a human maybe my father would still be alive and my brother wouldn't have to rule a kingdom all by himself… and even if my father was dead it would be me who carries the burden… but I can't because I'm a human” Türkiye said, he didn't really liked talking about the past but it somehow felt comforting to finally let it out “You probably have some type of magic too, so you can't be talking!”

Russia got closer to Türkiye and placed a hand on his shoulder “Actually, I don't, other than being a hybrid I don't have any magic… unlike, all of my siblings…” he said “I'm the only child in my family without any magical powers”

Türkiye looked at Russia surprised “Really?” he said

“Yeah, imagine that!” Russia said “All of your siblings being born with magical abilities and you're the only exception, all of them could rule their kingdoms while you…” he paused and stayed silent for a second “...while you can't” he finished the sentence after few seconds of silence

“I guess we're somewhat in the same situation then?” Türkiye said

“Yeah, seems like it” Russia responded “Well, why don't we eat now? It would be a shame if all this food went to waste!” Türkiye nodded and they started eating. Occasionally they talked about some more, like some of Russia's adventures.

After they finished eating there was one more thing Türkiye wanted to show Russia one last thing, in fact during this entire hang out he told Puszek and Nazlı to hide in the forest and not show up, it was finally the time for the grand reveal.

“I'm gonna need you to keep your eyes closed for this one” Türkiye said and took Russia's hand “I'll lead you where we need to be” Russia nodded and closed his eyes, they walked for few minutes and stopped “You guys can come out now” the birds then came out of their hiding “Open your eyes Russia!”

When Russia opened his eyes they immediately lit up from excitement “IS THAT A ÜGI AND GSURBYIF?!” he yelled

“Wait- YOU'RE NOT SCARED?!” Türkiye was honestly surprised by this as so far anyone who has seen his birds ran away screaming or hid

“Of course not!” Russia said proudly “I have a Gsurbyif myself!’ he said

“Oh my god…” Türkiye mumbled, he knew by that moment that Russia is the perfect friend and he never could've imagined something better. After playing with the birds a little both of them went to Türkiyes house and went to sleep.

•••

On the other hand Ottoman just received not so happy news, he was sitting in his old throne room, seemed like Azerbaijan changed it a little but kept the core aspects, the banners having the kingdom’s emblem: a beautiful flaming bird, they were still in the same place as Ottoman remembered them to be. The golds and reds being primary colors of the entire room, but you could see that Azerbaijan added some things, some of them were in the memory of Ottoman himself who was thought to be long gone after he hadn't come back to life for such a long time. Ottoman didn't show it but he was wondering why that was, did something special happened that caused this, or was this just a mere coincidence and exception in the Faknax species. He didn't put much mind to it nor did he have time to think because a guard ran into the room searching for Ottoman.

“Are you here to update me on the search?” Ottoman asked the guard, he stopped admiring the room and sat down on his rightful throne

“It's an update, but not a happy one your majesty” the guard said and lowered his head “We have found out that you're not the only one searching for the child of yours”

“Go on…” Ottoman said intrigued, but he could've expected the answer that the guard was about to give him, after all they had the exact same thing

“The ruler of-” the guard said but was interrupted by Ottoman, who's calm expression turned into one of anger

“I should've guessed he's going to come after my son too… that bastard” Ottoman stood up and walked up to the guard “Put more work into the search, I want all guards on this case, we CANNOT let him find my son faster, if he does it'll all be over.” he said “I'm joining the search myself, inform everyone, and start preparing for a potential war.

Chapter Text

As the preparations for the potential war Ottoman warned was continuing, the search for his son was continuing at full force, but it wasn’t enough for Ottoman, he might find Türkiye faster than him and he won’t see that happen or everything could go downhill, not only for his kingdom but for all.

“So how are the preparations going?” Ottoman asked a guard with a serious face, after all it could cost millions of lives if they don’t take it seriously.

“It’s all going good your majesty but we got word from other kingdoms saying they haven’t seen him anywhere, so he either isn’t moving fast which is quite unlikely or he found a trail of him and is going after it.” The guard told Ottoman with all seriousness.

“That isn’t good, we need to fasten our search as soon as possible.” Ottoman said even though they were already going so fast trying to find any trail leading to Türkiye.

The guard looked at him in a way of saying that it was impossible to go faster because they were practically in their limit; they pulled all their soldiers doesn't matter the age to the search, they were already so fast they weren’t looking for him that careful just to be fast and at the last, they had to hunt for hours because there were so many people, it was either be hungry or hunt for hours. Of course they usually told themselves they would hunt later and that they weren’t hungry and searching was more important but it was a long search, so some days they physically couldn’t tell each other that and had to take massive breaks just for hunting.

Ottoman looked at the guard knowing full well he was right. “I know, I know it’s practically impossible but we need to do something before it’s so late!” Ottoman sternly told the guard before taking a long sigh.

“So what should we do, your majesty?” The guard asked both concern and worry for the future flashing across his features.

“I.. I don't know…” Ottoman said in defeat because even though he- no they had to defeat him and had to find Türkiye before him. “But if I know something it’s that we need to do something as soon as possible.” Ottoman told the guard in a stern, angry voice.

The guard looked at Ottoman fear in his eyes, even if the anger wasn’t directed at him, he could feel it was something much deeper than just anger, something that didn’t include just this situation, but he knew better than to dwell into it.

“We shall discuss this in a due date when we have some idea on what we can do.” Ottoman told the guard while sighing, probably tired from thinking of all the chaos that is gonna happen if they don’t act up.

“Understood, your majesty.” The guard told Ottoman in a serious way, he could also understand the seriousness of the situation like most guards did.

“You are excused from my presence for now.” Ottoman told the guard with a smile, a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

The guard looked at Ottoman and not even a second after bowed to him and quickly went to join the other guards.

‘What am I gonna do? He is right, we can't go any faster but we need to go faster.' Ottoman thought to himself, beating himself up for being unable to do anything.

It was early in the morning, Türkiye was still sleeping while Russia was awake trying to gather his thoughts on what to do now; he was on a mission and what is he doing now? Befriending some weird guy living alone all by himself with big birds, this isn't a part of it, he should've been gone ages ago and get done with his mission, but instead he's staying here completely abandoning what he set out to do.

Russia sighned and looked at the still sleeping Türkiye, trying to collect his thoughts but deciding to set them aside for a moment to try and wake him up, to wake him up he decided to open the curtains but to his disappointment Türkiye just looked bothered for a second and then brushed it off in his sleep and continued to sleep.

Seeing it not working, Russia decided to just leave for a while and walk around the village to take up on his surroundings, after a while of going around the village he decided to go to the nearby forest to learn his surroundings further but when he went deeper through the forest he saw people, multiple people searching for someone, someone that he couldn’t let them find.

Seeing them he immediately went back to the village, trying to make near to no sound so they can’t hear him and check what was going on but still trying to go at maximum speed, when he reached his destination he saw Türkiye awake looking around the place worried while trying to communicate with Puszek and Nazlı, probably looking for him as he didn’t know Russia went to look around the place.

“Um Türkiye..?” Russia said as he went further to the human, when Türkiye saw the Orztal he lit up immediately and quickly went up to him, all worry setting aside for a moment on Türkiye’s face but reappearing not long after seeing Russia’s face

“Where were you?!” Türkiye shouted with worry evident in his face and voice, the orztel probably should have left a note or something.

“I decided to take a look at our surroundings as I am not very familiar with this place.” Russia said quickly, maybe too quickly as both Türkiye and the birds realized something was off.

“But?” Türkiye asked, predicting what he was gonna say next.

“But I saw some people I cannot say I’m very familiar with, but I think they are searching for me or maybe you I don’t know but they were searching for someone we need to leave! Quickly!” Russia told Türkiye with a hurry Türkiye couldn't comprehend but if he understood anything from his shouting it was that they should leave quickly from there.

“Okay. Nazlı, Puszek let's go, we need to leave immediately.” Hearing Türkiye’s words both Nazlı and Puszek’s attention returned to him. “So where did you see them?” Türkiye asked Russia, so they could go in the opposite direction they were coming from.

“The east part of the forest.” Russia told Türkiye in all seriousness before going in the opposite direction, indicating Türkiye to follow him. Türkiye, seeing what he was doing, quickly went on top of Nazlı to go quicker. Russia seeing it also went off from the ground and they quickly left the village to the far corners of the forest where they couldn’t be found unless someone came really close which was unlikely. They found a cave while looking around the place and quickly settled in trusting that the cave would help them go unnoticed.

After a while Türkiye started asking questions about ‘how many of them were there’ or ‘what their intention was’ etc. Of course Russia didn’t had many answers to that and even if he did he couldn’t tell Türkiye.

...

After probably two hours they decided to go back to the village thinking it would be enough time for them to go away, when they came back to the village they saw that they were right and it was safe to come out. Upon seeing it the first thing Türkiye did was feeding Puszek and Nazlı as they looked hungry.

“So… Do you think we’ll encounter them again?” Russia asked, possibly hinting at something, though Türkiye didn’t seem to catch it.

“I don’t know, hopefully not, it was tiring.” Türkiye said, whining a bit.

“I think we should do something in case something like this happens again.” Russia told Tuürkiye in an excited voice, probably didn’t suit the situation they were in right now but it made Türkiye think on what to do.

“What do you suggest doing?” Türkiye asked, looking intrigued by his request as he didn’t want to go across the forest just to avoid a bunch of people.

“Well.. I didn’t really think about it much.” Russia said, sweat dripping from his forehead.

“... Really?” Türkiye asked while trying to think on what to do as the one who suggested it didn’t have anything in mind but he also couldn’t find anything yet to their disappointment.

Upon seeing none of them had any ideas on what to do Türkiye decided to ask the ügi and gsurbyif that was on their side. “So what do you two think we should do??” Türkiye asked the two birds, hearing the question they both perked at it and made some noises which they could interpret as them thinking. After a while Puszek made some noises that roughly translated to suggesting they should do some training.

Hearing Puszek, Türkiye told Russia what the Ügi told him and Russia agreed with him in a quick motion so they began to train, train to learn how to fight and defeat enemies Türkiye didn’t know he had.

Chapter Text

Never did Türkiye think he would ever start to train, after all it was always his birds fighting the stronger creatures not him, all he did was just take care of something smaller if he felt like it, but most of the time he didn't since his birds would kill everything faster than him, but this time it was different, this time he would fight on his own. Even his opponent would be much harder to handle, it wouldn't just be a big bird or anything like that, it would be a humanoid. Something that's much smarter than an average creature living in the forest, not to mention how he got defeated in a span of a few seconds the last time he encountered anything like that. He clearly wasn't ready in the slightest, he agreed but at the same time he wasn't sure how it would even go or if he was ready at all.

He didn't sleep all night thinking about this, is he going to be good enough? How can a human defeat a magical being? Does he even stand a chance? The thoughts were haunting him for hours and hours making him unable to sleep at all. He was just laying in bed staring at the ceiling, sometimes looking over to see how Russia was doing, of course he was sleeping but for some reason he thought that maybe he didn't, but he was wrong every time. He looked over at the wall he was sleeping next to, after doing so he started playing with the wood that the wall was made out of. After a while he stopped and the cycle repeated, it went on until the morning.

“Are you alright?” Russia looked at tired Türkiye “You look like you didn't sleep the whole night!”

Türkiye just stared at his friend in shock, he didn't know what to answer his brain wasn't even properly working by that point, he just stared at Russia dumbfounded “...Yes?” he finally said a word, did it make sense? Absolutely not, but his brain wasn't capable of coming up with something else.

What.” Türkiye's response just made Russia confused, what was this guy talking about? He never asked a yes or not question so what was he on about, but it told him one thing, Türkiye isn't ready for any type of training, probably can't even be let outside in this state “Did you actually?-” Russia said to himself, absolutely disappointed “You want to train like THIS?”

“Uhh… yeah?” Türkiye responded slowly starting to think straight

Absolutely not.” Russia said “You need to go to sleep right now, seriously why didn't you-” he sighed, having absolutely no words for Türkiye's behavior

“I tried but it didn't work out” Türkiye said, he wanted to say why at first but decided to not to

“Well, try your best to and I'll prepare everything for your training, or at least try” Russia said and was about to leave the room when he turned back to Türkiye “If you're stressed about this just try thinking of something else, trust me it'll work” then he left. Türkiye stared at the ceiling again and decided to listen to Russia's advice, maybe he was right. After some more trying Türkiye finally fell asleep.

Meanwhile Russia headed over to his bag, he thought he might find some useful stuff there. He opened it and started searching, he found a blade, a blade he was supposed to use in his mission… Instead he is wasting his time on this, he sighed as he started thinking about the mission again. He took out the blade and started looking at it, a sharp silver blade, reminding him of his kingdom and mission. He started thinking if he should get this over with and finish his mission, after all he's so close to his end goal, if he didn't get distracted with Türkiye and all he would be back at his kingdom celebrating their victory. After all this mission was important, the kingdom depended on it. He put down the blade and closed the bag “Fuck this shit” he mumbled and left the house.

He went outside for a breath of fresh air, he was already thinking about the mission yesterday, already wasted another day, might as well abandon the entire mission in the first place!... He sighed again, seems like really everything was against him.

He decided to ignore that and just start preparing stuff. He would most likely need at least two sticks, would be nice if it was more but two is more than enough. Türkiye needed to learn close combat, when walking around the house he saw a bow, which meant that this is most likely the weapon he's most skilled in. While a bow is still a good weapon it simply wouldn't do in most combat scenarios, when attacked head on there isn't much he can do with a bow. Russia walked around the village to see if anything was left behind, any weapons or something that would be useful. He found one house that had those things, some spears, swords. It seemed like this house belonged to the village's blacksmith or something like that. Although those things weren't the best for the first day of training it would be useful to keep them in mind for later stages of the training. He took 2 of the spears and took off their end to make it dull so that no one could get hurt during the training.

“This should do” Russia said to himself and took the now sticks because you definitely couldn't call it a spear at that point, he then came back to the house and waited for Türkiye to wake up.

It took about 6 hours for Türkiye to finally wake up, he honestly forgot he was even supposed to be training today, but that was for the better since he didn't have to start stressing again which would end up with the same thing happening as last night. He went out of his room to see Russia waiting for him

“Finally someone decided to wake up” he said walking up to Türkiye

“Hey! You're the one who told me I have to go to sleep so don't complain now!” Türkiye said while Russia started laughing “WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING ABOUT?!” he said absolutely offended

“Nothing, nothing” Russia said “Just get ready, you almost wasted our entire day and we don't have much time to train anyway”

“Why? I’m sure we have plenty of time” Türkiye said

“Debatable, after all we have people on our tail, or more like your tail” Russia said not really thinking “I mean-” he tried to say but Türkiye cut him off

“Wait, why me?” Türkiye said

“Because well why would they look for me? I'm no one special really!” Russia said, he started to look nervous which caused Türkiye to be somewhat suspicious but decided to brush it off, besides Russia could be right, what if they're searching for him because of all the rumors

“Guess you're right” Türkiye then went to get ready while Russia stood in the same place for a few minutes, finally he left the house to wait for Türkiye so they could start training.

Türkiye put on his usual clothes, ate breakfast or I guess dinner and left the house “I'm ready” he said to Russia who was waiting outside

“Great” Russia said and threw Türkiye the stick he got earlier “We'll use this to fight”

“Fight?” Türkiye said barely catching the stick “Wait, I'm supposed to be fighting you?...”

“Of course! What did you think we would do? I have more than enough combat experience to train you and with the little time we got this is going to be the fastest way” Russia said

“But I don't know how to f!-” Türkiye said when Russia already landed a hit on him knocking him on the ground “WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!” he yelled

“Reflex, you don't get to talk on the battlefield, or even if you want you have to fight while talking” Russia gave Türkiye his hand and helped him get up “This is your first lesson, now try landing a hit on me” of course when Russia said it he tried, but failed, Russia countered the attack with ease “Try harder you know” Russia said once again attacking Türkiye, once again making him fall on the ground.

And so the fighting continued, Türkiye tried attacking Russia which he failed every time while Russia easily got him down in one strike. Russia was faster and more skilled which made it even harder for Türkiye but he was determined. He analyzed Russia's moves, looked at how he held the weapon and tried to mimic it. One time after another again, and again, and again he was defeated and couldn't counter a single attack, until… he finally did it.

Türkiye at this point learned most of Russia's moves, most likely because Russia didn't really do anything special, probably to go easy on Türkiye, but when he saw Russia move he knew exactly where he'll strike. He took the stick into both of his hands and turned back to counter the attack, he wasn't sure if he'll do it, he closed his eyes when Russia was about to strike when he suddenly heard a noise of their weapons hitting each other. When he heard it he let off one of his hands and striked, Russia of course dodged the attack but he finally did it!

“Good job” Russia said “Thought you'd never make it at this rate” he laughed a little

“Hey! Not my fault you didn't go easy on me!” Türkiye said, although he was a little mad at Russia for that but it didn't matter since he did it

“... Who told you that?” Russia asked

What.” Türkiye's dreams were shattered, that was going easy? He was getting beat up for hours and RUSSIA WAS GOING EASY?!

“Oh come on don't be so sad, you'll get on my level someday” Russia said and went up to Türkiye “Don't get too bothered, where I come from battling is one of the most important things, your status is pretty much determined by how good of a warrior you are, it's only natural for me to be a little better than average”

“I'LL NEVER MAKE IT AT THIS RATE!!” Türkiye started crying and laid at the floor

Russia just stared at him “Okay I think we need a break…” he picked up Türkiye from the ground and headed to their house

And so for the next 2 days the both of them have been working hard, Türkiye was a fast learner, despite training for such a short time he was getting better and better. Russia was slowly starting to go less and less easy on Türkiye without him noticing. Everyday they spent fighting till morning to the dawn, which really showed because Türkiye was always tired, unlike Russia who wasn't really moved by it. Today was the day that Russia decided they will use real weapons, of course he wouldn't hurt Türkiye on purpose but when there's actual risk it should motivate Türkiye to act quicker and more naturally instead of thinking about every move for too long.

“So, are you ready for today's training?” Russia asked

“Of course I am! I keep getting better!” Türkiye said, he had gained a lot of confidence since the first time they trained, which was a good thing, the more confident he is the bigger chance he'll win

“That's great, because today we're changing weapons” Russia said and handed Türkiye an actual spear

Türkiye looked at Russia quite surprised “What? But we've been training for only 3 days!” he said nervously, yet trying to not show his stress “You surely don't want to fight with real weapons?!”

“Türkiye do you want to get better or not?” Russia looked at him fully serious, Türkiye nodded “Then we have to, let me remind you we don't have much time, the time is ticking” Türkiye was still nervous but Russia was right, they didn't have much time and in the end whoever was looking would come back here and find them.

They started, it took about an hour for Türkiye to get used to it, he was nervous which wasn't how Russia planned it out to be. It was harder to fight Türkiye as his stress wasn't helping, Russia even accidentally hit Türkiye a bunch of times and made him have a bunch of scratches, which once again wasn't how Russia imagined it going, but that didn't matter as they had to keep going no matter what. It almost felt as if they were back at the start but the more it went on the more confident Türkiye got once again, it finally started to look like how Russia was imagining it.

“You’re finally doing better” Russia said striking Türkiye again

“Thanks” Türkiye countering the attack and instead attacking Russia

“I guess I could raise the difficulty then?” Russia asked and kept attacking

Türkiye wasn't sure at first but in the end gave Russia an answer “Go for it” as Russia heard the confidence in Türkiye's words he knew it was time. The fight went on, Türkiye could feel the rise in difficulty but he wasn't scared. Maybe Russia was doing better now but so was he, he was sure he could still do it. The fight went on pretty well, like all the previous ones, until Türkiye lost his weapon, in a swift attack Russia knocked the weapon out of Türkiye's hands, he was practically defendless now, one more attack and it's over for him. He looked away closing his eyes, when Russia was about to strike he used his hand as a last ditch effort of defending himself, he didn't even think about it really, it was more of a natural reaction. He was sure he was done for, but then he was fine, he heard the sound of something burning, what happened? He opened his eyes to see Russia's weapon on the ground burning while Russia was backed off, blood dripping out of his nose, despite that he was smiling, Türkiye didn't know why.

“I did that?” Türkiye mumbled and looked at his hand, still bits of fire left on it. Turns out he never was just a simple human after

Chapter Text

After what felt like hours Russia was still smiling while looking, or at least that's what Türkiye thought, as surprised as him. He was looking at his hand, his ears ringing from the unexpected turn of events and the panic that surpassed him, what was he supposed to do now? Surprise and a bit of dread found its place in him, forcing a knot to find itself a house in his throat, after another good minute of taking everything in what just happened, he didn’t know what to do with this new information.

He thought he was just a human, even though his father was a faknax and his brother was a takesh, he knew that but apparently not everything he knew was true. He was a human for his birds sake! What could’ve even changed this fact or was he even a human in the beginning or was it a not so new development that wasn't there in the beginning but was still there for the majority of his life and did he just figure it out because of training…

Türkiye shaked his head to try to calm all of his racing thoughts, after a few seconds of trying he accepted his fate and realized he couldn’t get rid of them this easily, instead he turned towards where Russia was still standing this time talking instead of outright smiling at his horror. Türkiye tried to focus and understand Russia’s words but there was only so much he could do with the constant ringing in his ears.

He tried to focus on lip reading, really he did, but, again, there was only so much he could do at this moment and he wasn’t even good at lip reading! Especially if we consider the fact that he hadn’t had much, or any, human interaction for a good few years, so yes Türkiye didn’t know what he was expecting but he still tried, only to find his vision blurring, probably from the stress the situation brought or something else he couldn’t think of at the moment.

Before he knew it the shock and horror on his face got washed away only to be replaced by closed eyes and pitched brows, seemingly fallen asleep to a person that wasn’t present here earlier or wasn’t briefed of the situation.

...

Russia smiled down at Türkiye and the seemingly absurd situation he was in right now, looking at the scene unfolding before him as Türkiye looked on the verge of a panic attack. He was smiling, like a scientist that proved something that they were trying to prove for years.

He just watched, and watched, and watched until Türkiye was practically sweating through every inch of his body, his eyes darting through the entire area searching for something that wasn’t there in panic trying to grasp the situation he was in, until his eyes landed on Russia, probably overwhelmed by everything and trying to understand what was happening if the confused look on his face and the panic was anything to go by, but upon realising that Türkiye didn’t have any reaction to Russia smiling he realized that Türkiye already realized his absurd facial expression to the situation they were in, even if he didn’t know the reason, probably overwhelming him more than he already was. Upon realizing that he quickly changed his expression to get rid of the smile.

After a few minutes of him not doing anything but watching the scene with a calculated gaze, with an emotionless facade presenting itself on his face and leaving Türkiye to his own fate, he finally took action and started to come closer to him, to act like he was trying to understand the situation or to comfort him by telling him that he was okay and such, not that Türkiye would learn that it was all fake any time soon, if he even hears or even remembers the words Russia will say in this moment with the panic he was in right now, that is, Russia didn’t know yet, but instead of trying to convey his thoughts he ended up adopting a concerned expression and started saying whatever came to mind.

“Türkiye are you okay?!” He started with a manic and horrified tone behind his words, seemingly concerned and horrified at the turn of events. “You just- you just created fire from your bare hands alone! Is your hand okay? Are you okay?! You don't look fine, we should probably go to your house and make you lay down for a bit..” Russia quickly continued his rambling knowing that Türkiye wouldn’t be able to hear him in that state, seemingly concerned but there was still a weird look in his eyes that didn’t fit the situation or the expression on the rest of his face while talking, no matter how small it was, this situation was merely.. amusing to him to say the least.

When he stopped his sentences from becoming any longer, he finally looked at Türkiye with a more searching gaze then he did before only to find him staring back at him but with unfocused, teary eyes and after a second or two he seemingly fainted out of nowhere even if it was expected, so Russia took it in his own hands to carry him back to the village, to his house, the swords and everything else be damned, Türkiye was more important in this situation whether or not he was excited that it was finally confirmed that he got the faknax powers didn’t matter right now.

As he reached the village and finally to Türkiye’s house, he laid the shorter man on the couch in the living room and went to find a blanket to cover him up with. After a short search through the house for a blanket he came back and covered the still ‘sleeping’ man, keeping an eye on him, wondering when he’ll wake up from his unwilling sleep.

After waiting a while, approximately half an hour, and not seeing any signs of waking up, Russia stood up and made his way to the outside.

Even if he planned this out he still had to think through everything again based on reactions and interactions. One could call it paranoia but if one asked him he would reply with a, ‘Every detail could destroy planning if you don't adjust it based on the other people every once in a while, especially after a big step of the plan or if you don't know the person well.’ of course he hardly ever said this to anyone, barely hinting it at best, keeping this information to himself as an advantage while planning against people he thought might be a complicated game to play in the long run, and of course Türkiye was one of them.

With how there were a bunch of people after Türkiye, especially Ottoman, and how his actions could change a lot of things.

With how he didn’t know Türkiye would act in a situation faced with people let alone those he knew in the past.

Türkiye was a tricky person because of not having human interactions, latching onto people like a limpet and calling them friends the instant meeting them, if it goes like that it wouldn’t be good for neither Türkiye nor him.

Türkiye was a tricky person he didn’t know and it could change a lot of things in the long run and in his point of view, the consequences of this trait of his only lead to bad things.

While Russia was still thinking about everything else that he laid out to happen, adjusting them based on the reactions Türkiye gave and making a mental note of his personality a bit more to finally get rid of his tricky behavior that was all caused by his stupidness or his amount of human interactions, he heard a sound coming through inside the house and quickly figured that Türkiye was probably awake and realized he was planning for a lot longer than he originally thought.

Upon entering through the door he laid eyes on the man that was now sitting on the couch, still curled up in the blanket he had covered him with a few hours ago. When Russia took a better look at the now awake man he found Türkiye staring at him owlishly. He was gonna ask what was wrong but before he could form any kind of sound Türkiye beat him to it, talking in a panic but with slow words as his brain still didn’t function properly.

“Russia..? What happened?! Last I remember we were training.. and-and I did something and there was fire.. then I was here! Did I fall asleep? Or did something happen.?” As Türkiye was asking all these questions in a slow manner, Russia was thinking about how he could explain the situation to the man in front of him while making sense as the man in question still didn’t look like he was in his right mind, just waking up from fainting his reaction was justified enough.

“You fainted..” Russia started, “before that.. you shot fire from your hands, did you know you could do that? I thought you said you were human..?” Russia asked with worry painting his expression but there was also a hint of hurt.

Türkiye looked at him for a moment, seemingly registering the information he was just told, he also thought he was human. How could he not? Everyone did, from people back in the kingdom to his family and everyone that knew his existence. “No.. I-I didn’t know. I thought, everyone thought, I was human. I.. I don't know what changed it..” Türkiye began to explain, stuttering through words and trying to make his brain understand the situation but to no avail. A sad look adorned his face, his eyes not facing the other. When he looked back he could finally see the hurt expression on Russia’s face, he was confused for a second wondering what could’ve caused it then it hit him. Their conversation from a while back, how they both were the only human in their family. Russia was probably happy that he met someone like him for the first time, only to find it could’ve just been lies.

“Hey don’t be sad.. I didn’t know about it either.. now I might know that I’m not a human” Türkiye started once again, “But my experiences were real! It’s a new development to me so it’s impossible for them to not be.” He finished averting his eyes only to direct them back to the others eyes once again after a few seconds. Russia looked shocked but the hurt expression no more in the view, his words probably worked then.

“I-” started Russia but quickly decided against what he was going to say. “Thank you..” He said instead of whatever he was going to say, in a small whisper but audible to the both men present.

Russia started walking towards the couch the red haired man was still sitting and sat beside him with a thoughtful look, his previous expression totally gone. “Are you okay?” Russia said after a few seconds of thinking and looking at the others face, he couldn’t simply act like everything was fine after what happened. He fainted for god’s sake!

After a few seconds of thinking, “I’m fine.. or I will be, it’s just.. it’s just unexpectant you know? I never thought something like this was possible.. it was not even a possibility in my eyes and it just happened and now what? This isn’t right.. I’m a human.. I always was, well, until today I guess.” Türkiye huffed a breath, thinking about what he should say next. “I just was in a panic realizing a fact I knew about myself crumble before my eyes.” He finished, he didn’t actually remember why he reacted that way but he knew himself well enough to guess.

“I get it,” Russia said, looking ahead not exactly facing Türkiye but a small smile on his face.

“You do, don’t you?” Türkiye said with a small smile similar to Russia’s but instead of averting his gaze like he did he looked at Russia.

“Hey,” said Russia, finally turning back to the man beside him, “why don't we train with your powers?”

“Huh? What do you mean?” Türkiye asked. Before a look of realization found its place. “Oh.. OH” He exclaimed with glee, seemingly not thinking about what he will do with his powers while too busy thinking about what it meant for him.

“So? What do you say?” Asked Russia this time, knowing the answer.

Chapter Text

Training magical powers and normal combat are two vastly different things, while simple hand-to-hand combat is mainly about skills and pure trial and error until you perfect it, magic also requires the knowledge and understanding of it, not understanding your own powers while using them can cause unwanted results and maybe even harm to another party. Which is why this time instead of immediately going to training they had to take a different approach to things, unfortunately for them, studying magic and spells can take weeks if not months… these two had 2 days, maybe 3 at best, learning anything in such short amount of time would be near impossible, almost seems like there's no point in even trying and perfecting Türkiye’s fighting skills is much better idea if anything, despite that Russia had hope, it was worth a shot, besides he knew how powerful the power that country possesses is, he felt that on his own skin, Türkiye had potential and trying to get anything out of it was the top priority.

“Alright, then” Russia sat at a wooden table “First of all do you have any books?” he asked

“Of course I do! If I didn't I wouldn't have survived all alone this long you know!” Türkiye said “I’ve got guide to wildlife, countless of books about magical creatures and their characterist-” suddenly he was interrupted by Russia “But do any of these talk about magic and spells?” Türkiye looked at Russia in silence for a few seconds before letting out a nervous laugh “Well no… at most it mentions what type of magic the species uses but not any spells…”

Russia sighed “Well this will be harder than I thought…” he leaned back in his chair and looked over at Türkiye “Can you get me a pen and paper?”

“On it!” Türkiye said and ran to get some for his friend, after he came back he placed them on the table right next to Russia

“Sit down” Russia said as he took the pen “So…” he started as the red country sat down “As we all know different types of magic let you use different types of spells, of course there are also spells unique so some species but first we need to get the basics done, you learn that in school so you should know the basic spells”

Türkiye looked at Russia as if this man told him he has been Azerbaijan in disguise this entire time and their entire friendship arc was a lie “I should?” he said confused, he started at his friend as he mumbled something, the only words he could make out were son of a bitch and homeschooling, he couldn't exactly piece together what Russia was trying to say but he came to conclusion that his friend must be insulting him over being homeschooled since it must be a negative thing.

“Okay, different approach, your father was a Faknax, do you recall anything, any spells or anything like that from your childhood years?” Russia asked

Türkiye sat there thinking and trying to remember anything for answers, suddenly a memory came to him.

It was when he was still little, he wasn't even a teen back then, just a small kid not knowing what fate would have in hands for him, back when he still played with his brother all day and had no worries in this world, when he still lived there… That day he was searching for his father, from what he could remember him and Azerbaijan needed him to help them do something and well this time it was Türkiye’s turn to search for him, he ran through the long castle calls to reach his father's bedroom. When he arrived he didn't find his father, instead he was met with an empty bedroom, he walked inside to make sure Ottoman wasn't hiding anywhere, he called his father's name multiple times, he searched the bed, the other rooms connected to his father's room but it was to no avail. He decided to see one final place, his father always told him to not touch anything in there as it was a bunch of important stuff. Going there he saw documents, maps, even countless books, finally he saw a wooden desk, on it was a candle lit up and a book. Türkiye got up on the little chair next to it, since his father wasn't here surely there was no harm in seeing what's inside right?

He looked inside the book only to see a bunch of words he didn't even understand, but he knew enough to be able to tell it's a book about magic, the words like oteń, Faknax and his father's notes made it clear enough what the spells were about, he looked at what his father had underlined in the book and read it.

Kuatrafbik” Türkiye mumbled to himself trying to remember more “Wait, right! Kuatrafbik is a spell, right?” he asked enthusiastically

“It is!” Russia responded “In fact it’s one of the advanced spells… his favorite one at that” he said the last part quiet enough so that Türkiye couldn't hear

YES!” Türkiye almost jumped out of the chair out of excitement that he actually managed to remember anything, but in this moment of joy something hit him, he looked over at Russia “Wait, you know advanced spells?...” he asked, after all Russia mentioned only basic spells being taught in school and why would he know any if he doesn’t even have magic?

“Ah… Well…” Russia looked away. “I do… back home when me and my siblings used to go to school together they all took advanced magic classes… of course they did that because well they had magic!” Türkiye could hear his friend's tone become more sad “I didn’t want to feel left out so I always came with them, even if… I got absolutely nothing out of it…” he sighed “but see? I can finally use what I learnt!” his tone immediately shifted to a more positive and upbeat one.

Türkiye nodded “Yeah” he didn’t want to start saying how bad he feels for Russia and stuff like that but it really sounded like he had it rough, especially how he was the odd one out…

“Now, enough backstory, we need to teach you the basics, here I'll write spells down for you so you can have it for later” Russia said and started writing down something on the paper, every spell name was accompanied with some kind of sketch demonstrating what it does and how to perform it. Türkiye watched closely as Russia continued, he read everything he wrote… Aula Otnia, the most basic of spells and easiest to preform, then Ścivar Otnia, another one of basic spells, so called wall of flames, finally the last one Levomień Ciuł- as Türkiye was about to read that one Russia started crossing it out “Wait why are you?-” Türkiye asked but was interrupted by Russia “I made a mistake, it's a basic spell for a Faknax”

Türkiye looked at his friend surprised. “You know spells for Faknaxes?...”

Russia stopped writing and stared at the paper for a few seconds before looking over at Türkiye “I know a few” he said as he realized he might've said too much at this point, but there was no going back now “You know my grandfather - Russian Empire, he was a Faknax too”

Türkiye once again looked at Russia as if he just revealed some fucked-up mystery or an evil mastermind plan how to take over the world in a grand war “What…” he was speechless, truly the more he finds out about Russia the more questions he has…

“Yeah, the weird thing is the power was never passed down, many theories were made, some saying that just maybe his father - a Faknax who went missing never actually died… but oh well, either way the Faknax bloodline in this family is longgg gone” Russia said “still had a chance to learn a thing or two about the magic they use though” he looked over at Türkiye to see him staring at Russia as if he was staring right into his soul with those green eyes “Türkiye?...” he said genuinely confused

Finally the red country spoke up “Can we try that one?”

YOU want to try a spell made for FAKNAXES?” Russia asked, making sure Türkiye understood every word, his friends just nodded in response “Are you aware this could be extremely dangerous?” he got another nod in response. Russia got up and placed his hands on Türkiye’s shoulders looking him right into the eyes “Let me get this straight, you want to skip all the basics and try a spell that only pure-blooded Faknaxes are able to perform without any harm?”

“Well… yes” Türkiye responded “I know this may sound crazy but listen” he took Russia's hands off his shoulders “If my father is a Faknax then surely it can work right? I mean come on one miracle of me having powers already happened, we can have a second one right?” Russia stayed quiet, he stared at Türkiye occasionally looking away thinking about the potential consequences, but the light in Türkiye’s eyes, he was determined to make this happen, he had hopes and dreams like never before “Fine…” Russia said reluctantly.

And so the two came back to their original training spot, this time Türkiye was excited as ever, this new power, new possibilities, new everything, it filled him with determination. Truly ever since he met Russia everything changed, he found out so many things about himself, if not for Russia, everything that happened so far, he would still be the same as he was in the beginning, he would have the same routine, he would still be… alone. Yet now his life had a new purpose, a new goal.

“Alright Türkiye, before we start anything I need to know if you’re capable of manifesting a flame on your own” Russia said “Last time it was out of self-defense, pure instinct, this time you need to show me you know what you’re doing” Türkiye nodded, he took a deep breath and tried his best, yet he failed, he felt like he was losing hope right this instant, but no, he knew he couldn’t give up easily. Russia looked at him, seeing the determination the red country has, you could see it in his eyes, seeing this almost made him proud “Stop for a second, let me tell you something” he said and walked up to his friend “You’ll never do it like this, how about you try to concentrate and imagine the flame”

“Noted” Türkiye said, he once again took a deep breath and closed his eyes, like Russia said he imagined a flame, a warm scarlet flame burning brightly. Suddenly he felt something warm in his hand, when he opened his eyes and saw it, he did it “I did it!” Türkiye lit up, burning as bright as the fire which manifested in his hand.

“Congratulations” Russia said while Türkiye closed his hand putting out the fire “Now, you want to learn the Levomień Ciułavot” the red country nodded “Let me tell you more about it then, it’s a defensive spell which has been passed down for ages from one Faknax to another. It lets you engulf your body in flames, normally this would cause death but due to Faknax’s characteristics it doesn’t harm them at all… which is why I wasn’t sure if you really want to do this but if you say so…”

“Wait, what about my clothes…” Türkiye asked, slightly worried if he tries it his clothes may be gone too

“Don’t worry, it’s magic, they’ll be just fine… well maybe not entirely… but if everything goes well they shouldn’t be affected” Russia responded “Now, to perform this spell you must do something similar as before, concentrate and imagine, if you train long enough you’ll be able to perform these spells in an instant”

“That’s gonna be our goal then!” Türkiye said enthusiastically

“Indeed” Russia nodded “Now” he walked away from Türkiye to a safe distance from which he wouldn’t accidentally be hit if anything went wrong “Try performing the spell.”

Türkiye once again closed his eyes, he made sure to take calm and slow breaths, he had to be fully concentrated to do anything, he knew the risks, but he thought of all he could do with this new found power, he thought of his life before, the boring and mundane routing, living alone in the abandoned village, then he thought of his own brother, the kingdom in which he once lived… maybe one day the two could reunite, he could show Azerbaijan all that he had learnt. All these thoughts, these possibilities, the dreams, it made him hope that it would work, no, he knew it would work. He tried to picture the spell in his mind, it was hard, seeing yourself in flames it was almost as if he could feel the pain it would cause, but if it was that he had to endure to make it work he would do it. He took one more deep breath, the image in his mind was almost clear now, it would be seconds before…

He heard the sound of fire, it surrounded him, he opened his eyes, he did it but… why was everything else on fire - and most importantly Russia! He shaked the flame off himself but it didn’t seem to work, at least mostly it was gone, some of his clothes were in terrible shape too but… he felt different, he could still feel the fire on his back, when he looked back his eyes widened, he had… wings?

Wings made of fire, burning constantly, yet even so, it didn’t hurt, his skin wasn’t burning, they just felt warm… he was staring at them as if he was hypnotised by them suddenly he was snapped out of it when he heard Russia coughing “Russia!” he yelled and frantically looked for his friend

“No need to worry about me-” Russia said as he got up from the ground, blood was dripping from his mouth and when Türkiye looked at the ground he could see a pool of blood, not to mention the face, he couldn’t remember if he was remembering something wrong or if another crack appeared on Russia’s face

“But you’re-” Türkiye started but didn’t get to finish

“If I was you I’d worry about a potential forest fire so you better get your pets here and take care of this.” Russia said which made Türkiye how big the area of range was “Right!-” he responded and got to work, meanwhile Russia stayed in the house taking a rest.
