"Just two kids caught in a crossfire,

Close your eyes, I know you're so tired...

Just kids, You and I,

I know it's hard sometimes...

Yeah we'll be alright."

Chapter 1: "I wish I would have been stronger."

Chapter Text

"It's... It's over..."

"Yeah... We... We did it..."

The crashing silent of awareness. Just those two whispers breaking it, as tired pupils of a whole traumatised group of teenagers wandered around; looking at one another.

It was finally over. They were finally free from that hell. Well... At least from the biggest part of it, at the sight of the heavy and irreversible damages around them.

"JIROU-SAN!!!"

A yelp. A startle. Two sets of eyes meeting.

"MOMO !!"

The young girl who screamed just before started running towards her best friend, tears in the corner of her eyes. Opening her arms towards her, Jirou welcomed Momo in a tight embrace, hugging her as hard as her feeble arms allowed her to.

Such a reunion was not the only one happening. All the members of class 1-A were running and embracing one another in such relieved sighs and tears, as they finally understood that the War was over, now. And they weren't the only ones, as the other classes here as well did the same.

None of them still couldn't believe it.

Some had passed away almost immediately after the end of the fight, as others came to help. The Pro-Heroes quickly took care of the most injured ones, as those who could still stand up helped one another walking.

The purple-haired girl, noticing everyone started to move, stepped backwards to look around. That's when Yaomomo finally noticed her torn up ear. Her eyes widened as she let out a slight gasp.

"J-Ji'... Your ear..."

"I-" The rockstar girl sighed, as her body started to shake. "It's... All For One who... Um- ... I- It's okay ! I'm-"

She couldn't end her sentence, as a pair of arms suddenly wrapped themselves around her from behind. She gasped, and opened widely her eyes in surprise, quickly tilting her head just to notice some golden hairs skimming her cheek. The head of the one hugging her silently rested on her shoulder, as only his shaky breathe could be heard; the warmth of the air coming out of his mouth tickling the skin of her neck.

The blonde tightened his embrace around her in silence. Jirou felt her breathe hitching, as tears flowed down her cheeks.

No words. No yelps. None of these were necessary. Just a silent embrace. Just a silent reunion between Chargebolt, who had been horrified to lose his dearest friends; and Earphone Jack, who felt relieved to feel the warmth of her loved ones instead of the coldness of a dead body.

Jirou slowly clung onto his arms, pressing her head against him as she closed her eyes; letting a slight sob out of her throat. In front of them, the creation master girl smiled warmly, slowly stepping back to let them have their moment.

"Jirou..." Finally whispered the blonde in a shaky tone, tilting just a bit his head up to side-look at her; his gaze hazy yet tender. The purple-haired girl extended her only earphone jack left and gently brushed his cheek with a faint grin in the corner of her lips.

"Hi, Jamming-yay..." She whispered dimly, before suddenly feeling her head hurting like hell. She grunted, getting the sense that her body was as heavy as metal. She slowly lost consciousness, as her jack fell down from his cheek; her body crawling into his arms.

"Ji'?? Are you okay??" Immediately freaked out Kaminari, holding her a bit tighter against him. "Ji'!!!" He shrieked when he saw her eyes shut down slowly as he understood she was about to pass out. He also noticed her torn up ear, and noticed how much blood she probably lost. He gulped in worry.

Without further hesitation, the eletric boy slipped his hand under her legs, held her back with the other one, and carried her in his arms like a princess. He hurried towards Momo, who was talking with Kirishima and Mina.

"Oi, guys!! Jirou passed away!! We need to bring her to the hospital, quick!! Her ear is badly injured too, she might have lost a lot of blood!" Cried the blonde, his gaze filled with worry. The pink-haired girl turned around and gasped seeing the state in which her best friend was. Kirishima frowned immediately, as Momo got closer, gently brushing some hairs away from the face of the rockstar girl. She then tilted her head up to look at the blonde.

"Let's not waste any more time then, let's go !!"

The little group thus hurried towards Mister Aizawa, who stood not so far away, helping other students. Quickly, Jirou was taken care of by the Pro-Heroes, and brought to the hospital, under the dead worried glares of her best friends.

. . .

Kyouka remained unconscious for a few days. She had lost quite a lot of blood, and her ear was pretty badly injured. She also had some contusions here and there.

And during those few days, there was not a single minute when she was alone.

Someone was always standing right next to her, impatiently waiting for her to wake up.

A blonde head dumbass adamantly refused to leave her side.

He wanted to be there when she would wake up. He wanted to make sure she was going to be okay. And he wanted to make sure he would be there to tell her that everything was going to be alright.

Some other students also came to visit; their closest friends. They repeated over and over that he should go and rest, that the nurses would be there for her if anything happened, that they were there too, but... Denki utterly declined their offers, and firmly stood his ground.

He would not move until she wakes up.

He refused to leave her alone.

"Kami... You should really go and take a rest. I promise I'll stay by her side, okay...? You really look exhausted, please..." Pleaded Momo in a sigh, as she had came to visit; like she did every day for a good four, five days now. The electrifying blonde sighed loudly and leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes.

"No... I want to be there... When she wakes up..." He whispered. He knew Yaomomo was right, though. He did look like a mess.

His hair was messy, his face pale and his features heavily tired and rough; his hands were shaking randomly; and he was easily startled or alerted by any small noises or things.

The dark-haired girl gently walked towards him to rub his shoulder with her thumb.

"I know you're worried, Kami... I am too..." Softly whispered Momo, a gentle grin in the corner of her lips. "But..."

"Y-You don't get it..." Sniffled the blonde, looking away. "I... I- I couldn't even be down there back then... I- I need to be now... What kind of friend would I be if I didn't..? A-and... Geez, Yaomomo, I feel like- Seeing everyone being that much hurt... Look at Uraraka, or Bakugo, or even Midoriya, Todoroki, Iida...! They will ALL have bad damages over time on their body...! And I'm... Here, just... Not having done much..." Kaminari suddenly started to sob quietly, turning his head away as he crawled in the sofa he was sitting in.

The creation master girl opened widely her eyes listening to him. She blinked in confusion, before squeezing warmly his shoulder, and kneeling next to him.

"Listen..." She started in a soft whisper, trying to get him to look back at her. "You know that's not true... We were together, remember ? They needed us up there, we helped as much as we could, and-" She didn't have the time to end her sentence. A rough and feeble voice suddenly rose.

"If... I hear you... Saying... One more... Stupid thing... Kaminari Denki... I'll zap you... Stronger than... I've ever done... Before..."

Her tone was hazy and tired but... Firm. The blonde and dark-haired girl both started as they turned around to face the voice who had just spoken.

She was laying there, in her hospital bed, exactly like during those past few days.

The only difference is that she had her eyes opened, right now.

And she talked to them.

She talked to him.

In a loud gasp, Kaminari suddenly got up and almost jumped to the side of the bed, small tears filling the corner of his eyes.

"Jirou...! You're awake...!" He sniffled in a chuckle. "How are you feeling...?"

Noticing how much all of his members started to shake, the rockstar girl slowly extended her jack and wrapped it around his hand and his arm. She grunted, closing back her eyes.

"Like I have a heavy metal piece pushing my whole body down... I can barely talk... Or move... And my ear hurts... But... I'm fine, otherwise..." Grumbled Kyouka, as she opened her eyes again to look at him. Really noticing the state her Jamming-yay was into, she let out a pretty long sigh, reaching her hand towards him. The blonde gently held it, and she softly brushed it with her fingertips. "Dumbass... You look awful..."

"D-Don't worry about me, please- You're the one in a bad state... That's what matters most to me right now." He softly answered, tenderly holding her hand with both of his. The rockstar girl sighed loudly and rolled her eyes, grunting quietly.

"Shut up. You should look at your face. You look like a ghost." She faintly mumbled, frowning. "Have you even- Wait..." She opened widely her eyes. "For... How long was I out...?"

"A few days..." Tenderly answered Momo with a soft smile, as she tilted her head for Kyouka to see her. The purple-haired girl gasped, and gulped.

"Momo...!"

"Hi dear..."

"You were out for five days, Ji'..." Whispered Kaminari to answer her question further. The rockstar girl let out a slight moan of discomfort, and looked up at the ceiling.

"Geez... I-"

"It's okay, Jirou-san." Gently whispered Momo as she hurried towards the other side of the bed to softly take her hand with hers. "A lot of members of the class who passed out are actually still not awake either. You guys needed that rest..." She smiled softly, to which Kyouka answered also a faint yet tender smile. The dark-haired girl gently caressed her hand with hers; before stepping away slowly. "I'll go and tell the others you are awake... Kaminari, are you staying here ?" She asked, lifting her head towards the blonde with a wider smile. The later frenetically nodded.

"Y-Yes. I am."

"Good. I'll come back at bit later. Don't bother her too much and let her sleep again if she needs it, okay ?" Miss Creati winked at both of them, before getting out. The eletric boy groaned quietly in a pout, as Jirou let out a little chuckle. She then turned slowly back her head towards her favourite idiot.

"You... Stayed there... Hu...?"

"!!!!" Startled by her sudden question, Mister Chargebolt stuttered and moved away a bit to sit back down on the sofa he was sitting on earlier. He nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "W-Well... What friend would I be if I didn't, hu...?"

"Kami..." Softly whispered the earphone jack hero in a sigh. "You should have at least rested and everything... Though I'm- A bit surprised... You actually stayed the whole time..." She muttered, a bit embarassed. In response, Kaminari quickly brought his chair closer to the bed, and frowned as he leaned his hands on the side of the bed.

"From now on, I'll never ever leave anyone's side ever again. I'll do everything I can to have anyone's back. ... And especially yours." He unwaveringly claimed, looking straight into her eyes. Jirou opened slightly her mouth in shock. What the hell did he mean by that...?

"What...? What are you talking about...?" She whispered, extending once more her earphone jack towards his cheek to wipe away the tears that were falling down. "Kami...-"

"L-Look at the state you're in...!" The way his voice immediately cracked made Jirou's heart break in million pieces. She never saw him break down like this, and it immediately sticked a spear through her heart. Slowly, she reached her hand to catch his once again, solidly holding it in hers. "A-And same for so many others of the class...! And I was up there, looking at y'all getting hurt, unable to do anything...! I could have been there, I could have helped, but no ! I was stuck...! ... Am I even worth of wearing the title of a Hero with that, hu...?! Like-" The more his ramble was going on, the bigger tears were falling down his cheeks. She could feel his hand shaking against hers. His whole body was actually starting to shake like a baby. "A-And I even cried like a baby in the arms of Yaomomo because I... I was scared for Midoriya... And maybe it meant that I didn't believe in him and all, and- And-"

Without further hesitation, the purple-haired girl frowned and suddenly stretched her other arm to catch his own to slowly pull him down on her lap. Kaminari gasped as he tried to fall slowly, in order not to hurt her; but was now unable to move, as she was holding him tight against her. Slowly wrapping her earphone jack around his chest, the purple-haired girl sighed once more, and tenderly stroked his hair.

"Shut the hell up you idiot..." She muttered in a shaky voice. "Don't start thinking you could have make a change or anything. You had your own job up there, and you did it perfectly. What happened to any of us isn't either our fault, nor yours, okay...? So don't you dare say you're not worth of being a Hero. Because as I said earlier, I'll fucking zap ya like I never zapped ya before if I hear you say such a thing once again." She let out a slight hiccup of a sob. "I can guess how scared you were... I was too, you know. I was scared of losing any of you too, okay...? But don't put the whole damn weigth on your shoulders, Jamming-yay. None of this is your damn fault."

Kaminari remained silent hearing her words, and merely decided to close his eyes, nuzzling his head against her chest, and let his sorrows out. He thus sobbed in the arms of the rockstar girl, who was trying to soothe him down by gently playing with his golden hair, her jack also rubbing his back.

Jirou was sure of one thing at that exact moment.

She would have never thought Mister Jamming-yay was feeling in such a way. She would have never guessed he felt as miserable.

She would have never thought he would break down in her arms like this, one day.

... Actually, she was sure of two things, now.

She never wanted him to feel so miserable ever again. The idea litteraly made her heart squeeze. And she would do everything to help him understand he is actually way stronger and braver than he thought he was.

... She never thought such an idea would actually turn into a real nightmare for her way later in her life.
