Chapter 1 - New roommate
I grew up in a pure-blood family but at a young age I grew a strange fascination with the ocean and stars. I was an outgoing child unlike my brother Gregory Goyle. He was a year older than me and already in Hogwarts. He served as a lackey for a boy we all knew about; Draco Malfoy. Him and his best friend; Vincent Crabbe, who over the years of him coming over and being around, became like a second brother to me.
“Danyelle. Come you need to get ready for dinner, your brother and Vincent are on their way!” Lydia sighs, our house elf pops into my room and sits on my desk and I close my book on the ocean.
“Please hurry and do get some proper dressing on. Your brother and Vincent will be home any minute now and you aren't dressed properly.” The house elf jumps off my desk and starts to rummage through my closet.
“Fine, fine. I'll find something. You go back downstairs and welcome them.” I say with a big smile on my face. I take the dress out of the elf's arms and run over to my changing area. Looking in the mirror the dress is a cream strapped dress that stops at my knees. The full skirt has red and pink roses dusting the bottom edge fading up the skirt. I had short cream heels, a pearl necklace and bracelet, and my hair flowed down my back in bouncy dark blonde curls. “And the finishing touch.” I whisper to myself, placing a red rose behind my ear and doing a spin.
“Danyelle, you look lovely.” My mother says walking into my room.
“Thank you mother.” I say doing a small curtsey. “Let's go then.”
“Yes mother.”
“Good, now there's a special guest here and we mustn't keep them waiting.” She says as we walk down the hallway leading out of my room. I practically raced past her with a big smile on my face excited to see my brother after his first year of Hogwarts.
Going down the first flight of stairs I stand on the top of the grand staircase of marbled white stone. I hear the voices of my brother and Vincent but there's another voice in the midst of the other two.
“Ah Danny, so good to see you.” I look down at where the voice came from.
“As with you Malfoy.” I say in a deadpan tone. He always has to bring back that silly nickname. I think slowly descending the stairs. My face lightens up when I see Vincent and Gregory standing there. I ran up to them, embracing them both (which was rather difficult considering both their rather large frames). “It's so good to see you. How was your first year? Did anything exciting happen? Why didn't you come home for Christmas? Did you get my presents? How many classes have you taken?” I asked firing each question after the other.
“Wow, calm down. We shall discuss this after we eat.” Vincent says with a look astonished that I could have so much to say. I hum in response ignoring Malfoy's existence all together. I led them out to the garden where a picnic was set up for us bouncing in excitement. Mother and father were already there talking quietly when we came over and sat down. Mother next to father, Gregory next to Vincent, and me next to Malfoy who was next to mother. The conversation flowed nicely, I spoke a little bit of my year and the things I had received. I ate and the boys gorged as if they hadn't been fed for weeks. On my other side Malfoy who just sat and listened and only spoke when spoken to. Curious indeed, not like I care anyways. And why is he here anyway?
“Dear, why don't you show Malfoy up to the room he will be staying in for the summer.” My mother snapped me out of my thoughts.
“I'm sorry, do what now? No way! He's not staying with us is he!?” I raise my voice.
“Yes dear he will be staying with us this summer. His parents are out on… businesses this summer so we are housing him this year. That's final.” Mother responds firmly yet calm.
“Yes mother. Come on Malfoy.” I hang my head in defeat and stand knowing I can't do anything about this. I look over at the platinum blonde standing next to me, a sly smirk never leaving his face. I walk inside mumbling myself about Lydia being able to do this.
“So this will be an interesting summer for you won't it.” I hear Malfoy's sneering voice behind me. “What's it to you Malfoy?” I sneer back keeping my head up and eyes forward starting up the stairs.
“Oh nothing. I assume your parents haven't told you yet.” He follows me up the stairs and over past Gregory's room.
“Told me what? You staying here the whole summer to torment me and my brother like we're some kind of house elf to do your bidding?” I spin on my heel glaring up at him.
“If that's how you feel. Now where's my room? Your mother said all my belongings would already be there.” He smirked and strides past me looking into my room. Dang it I forgot to close the door.
“That room is not yours, get out!” I spin around Malfoy and close the door in his face. I step to the room next to mine to open the door. I know mother said close but this is way too close to me. I think remembering the words she had spoken to me earlier, my hand still on the door handle.
“This one is for you.” I mentally kick myself for having to be near him. It's not like I had a choice. He's invading my space if anything. He surveyed the room looking up at the high ceilings and large bed. Malfoy's belongings were sitting at the foot of his bed in large suitcases. “That's your washroom and if you need anything don't bother me about it.” I say pointing to a door in the corner. With that I walked out before he could respond and into my room. Ugh why do we have to have him here and in that room out of any other room in the entire manor. I flop onto my bed and grab the stars novel I've been reading.
Chapter Text
Knock knock knock. Knock knock knock. Ugh who is banging on my door at such an hour?
“Danyelle. Danny! Hello?” The person on the other side of my door opened it causing me to jump out of bed and step into my slippers still in my nightgown.
“What do you want?” I ask rubbing sleep out of my eyes. Lone behold it was Draco Malfoy who woke me and opened the door. “Ugh didn't I tell you to not bother me if you needed something?” I roll my eyes. See he is invading my space!
“Whatever brat, I'm here because your bloody bird was making too much noise.” Malfoy says, obviously annoyed.
“My bad. Oh wait it's not.” I plaster a fake smile onto my face and turn on my heel and sit at my vanity. “So if you're done complaining about the family bird that we so graciously are letting you use you may leave.” I say, false kindness dripping from my voice. Picking up my brush I wave him off.
“Fine whatever.” He leaves for his room to do whatever spoiled brats do.
Later that day I went downstairs to get something to eat. When I made it to the kitchen the boys were all down already talking excitedly about something.
“Hey guys what's up?” I ask, grabbing one of Gregory's crisps off his plate.
“Hey I was going to eat that! But Draco's dad got the whole quidditch team nimbus 2000’s and we get to try them out and keep them here all summer!” He was practically bouncing off walls.
“That sounds cool, when do they get here?” I ask, taking another crisp.
“The delivery owl is supposed to be here soon!” Vincent responds enthusiastically.
“Interesting, don't fall off though, I know you boys can't use magic outside of school and I don't think mother wants to fix any bones after work.” I grab a strawberry from the bowl in the middle of the table and pop it in my mouth.
“Yeah okay mom.” Gregory laughs and elbows Draco who laughs with him.
“Yeah yeah whatever if anything Malfoy should fall off.” I say walking over to the fridge to grab a sandwich wrapped in green and white paper then I set off to the more wooded areas of our land. I stop by the old wooden swing and sit down, swinging gently as I pull out my book.
Hours pass, I eat my sandwich and I don't realize till I finish my book, so I follow the path of magic lanterns that leads to the manor. The closer I got the louder the boys were. I guess they got their broomsticks. I walk past them, book in hand. When I get inside I head to my room to wash up from being outside for so long.
“Danyelle love can I come in?” My mother asks, walking in any way.
“Of course, how was work?” I ask looking up from my notebook of constellations and different drawings.
“Work was good. Your father got two tickets to Which Wizard. He doesn't want to go. Shall we have a ladies day tomorrow? We can go see it.” She crossed over to sit on the edge of my bed.
“Wait really? That sounds amazing! Yes I would love to.” I don't remember the last time I spent time with only me and my mother. She knew I was dying to see Which Wizard and now we could together.
“So it's settled then. Tomorrow, dress accordingly and I will see you in the morning.” She stands and walks out light brown hair swaying behind her.
The next morning I awoke early with no interruptions from that bratty wizard that invaded the room next to me. I snapped and Lydia materialized in front of me.
“So I'm going to a play tonight and I need an outfit. Care to help?” I ask with a smirk. Her eyes light up and we run to my closet to find something suitable for walking around town in. We ended on a high - V-neck emerald green dress with a knee slit cinched waist and low black Mary Janes. We added a cream jacket over my shoulders and cream low socks. “What if we add this and these?” Lydia asks, holding up a chain to hold the jacket on and earrings with a cuff on the end.
“Yes, that sounds fabulous.” I squeal while putting them on.
“I must return to some other responsibilities around the house but have lots of fun today.” Lydia says before disappearing to some other room in the manor. Knock knock.
“Yes? Who is it?” I ask, walking over to my door and opening it praying that it was not Malfoy.
“Oh my glory you look gorgeous. Now let's go. We have a show to catch but I have made reservations at a restaurant so I have flew powder set up downstairs.” Mother says with a smile. “The boys have some plans of their own today. They're going to be shopping for school things over at Diagon alley with Draco's father.” She added leading me to the main living room where the boys were chatting on the sofa. When I stepped into the room all eyes fell on me and Mother.
“You two look dazzling.” My father turned to kiss his wife. Turning to me he leaned over and gave me the tickets saying “Now don't you lose these. These tickets are premium tickets.” He chuckled and the boys bid us farewell and Mother called out Theater Lovely with me stepping into the fireplace after her. I grabbed a handful of powder and called out Theater Lovely, throwing the powder at my feet. Green flames envelope my figure and when they die down I open my eyes to my mother standing in a stunning theater.

I hope you like it. Idk how offen I'll update but I'll try!!

I open my eyes as the last of the green flames dissipate and see beautiful black marble floors with a red carpet and white pillars up to a high ceiling and candles hanging magically from the walls. Mother was checking all the pockets of her jacket and her purse when I walked up to her and held up the tickets.
“Perhaps you are looking for these?” I ask, handing her one.
“Oh thank goodness I have you with me. I almost had myself believe I had forgotten them.” She chuckled at herself, taking one ticket for herself. “Why yes I suppose it is.” Mother leads me over to the boy checking tickets and leans towards me. “Isn’t that boy so cute?” She whispers near my ear, holding her hand up to her mouth, chuckling.
“Mother, that is not something to be said in public!” I say, shocked at my mother's words. She just flashes me a bright smile before walking up to the poor boy just doing his job.
“My I see your tickets please ma'am.” The ticket boy asks, giving me a forced smile.
“Of course. Dear?” She holds her hand out for me to hand over my ticket which I do so gladly. As she hands over the 2 tickets. As soon as the ticket boy sees the tickets his whole demeanor changes into a more respectful one.
“Yes of course.” He clears his throat and hands the tickets to one of the workers standing to the side.
“Of course. Right this way Ms. and Mrs. Goyle” The man led us to a door. He opens it and motions up the stairs. “Your seats are the first ones in the booth.” I start up the stairs marveling at the red velvet seats and the golden guard railing. As I sit down I look at the stage in awe as the lights begin to dim. The spotlight flickered on to reveal the beginning of the stunning musical.
The first act began telling stories of a far off land called Magica where a grand wizard lived. The protagonist went to a school similar to Hogwarts to learn magic from this great Magica wizard. The whole time I was clapping loudly at the end of each song and watching on in awe as each scene continued. The second act was even more marvelous then the first one, as the protagonist fell in love and he loved her back. How I wish love was that easy but alas. The final song was mind blowing and during bows I nearly toppled over the edge of our booth when standing to cheer as loud as I could. “That was wonderful!” I exclaim over the noise of the slowly emptying theater. “I know, wasn't it?” Mother smiles pleasantly. Clasping her hands together she says “Well shall we be off? I believe we are due for a trip to the boutique.” I snicker at her remark. “If you believe so, furthermore we have meetings to attend with Father so I must look presentable.” I say checking my nails for any impurities in which there are none. “Now that you mention it your father told me that we will not be needed at his meetings for a while. Although there is one in the middle of the summer for all ministry families to attend.” She cheerfully added while walking down the stairs to exit the booth we were assigned. “Mother, that is amazing! We will have so much more time to ourselves.” I happily remark following her down the steps. Reaching the exit of the theater the workers bow slightly bidding us adieu. Stepping out of the building into the late afternoon sunlight I recognize the shopping district bustling with witches and wizards in more professional and formal wear. “There’s a nail salon and we can gather some new quill sets at that shop there!” I proclaim pointing out the different shops. “Then shall we get our nails done first? After that it may be a bit late but I will get you an ink and quill set.” Mother responds. Hand in hand we cross to the nail salon. This particular boutique is one that Mother and I have gone to so many times that the staff is now our good friends, my personal favorite being Lucenda. The bell over the door rang out as we entered with the typical following: “Hello welcome to rosies bows and nails.” from whoever was at the front desk. This time it happened to be Lucenda. “Danyelle, it's been too long, how are you dear?” She asks me while leading me over to do my nails. “Oh and what are we doing today?” She adds as an afterthought. After a bit of thought I speak up. “Let's do these teal ones with the silver stripe down the middle!” I say getting excited about my hails being done. “I would love that for you and for the summer too, yes!” Lucenda matches my excitement and starts on my nails.
We chatted for basically forever talking about everything that occured since my previous visit a few weeks ago on my last day of primary school.
“So have you gotten your letter from Hogwarts yet?” Lucenda asks with excitement. I sigh in disappointment. “No, I am still waiting.” A frown adorns my face. “But I'm sure it'll come soon enough. Besides, it's only been a few weeks since the beginning of the summer.” I say feeling better about my lack of an invitation to the school of magic. “I'm sure it will come soon dear.” Lucenda comforts me seeing the disappointed look on my face. “Yes, until then I have to deal with… well you know.”
“Danyelle. Dear, I think you should give this boy a chance. Has he done anything majorly invasive?”
“Well he has woken me up on multiple occasions and is always around, and he treats me-” I start to rant. Lucenda holds up her hand stopping me. “I mean intrusive. As in not a good thing. I believe he just wants another friend in this new environment.” I open my mouth to shoot back a response then I close it. “Perhaps you have a point.” I say simply. “Perhaps I do, and I believe your nails are completed.” She laughs. I look down forgetting all about Draco for the moment. “Oh Lucenda! You did a wonderful job! These look beautiful.” I thank her again and again till my mother comes over. “Wow, Danyelle, those are beautiful.” Mother looks over at my nails. Directing her attention to Lucenda she speaks. “I hope she didn't give you too much trouble. And thank you again for this. We needed a girls' weekend.” She looks down at me and smiles. “Ready darling?”
“Of course Mother. See you later Lucenda.”
“Goodbye Mrs. and Ms. Goyle.” Once outside the nail salon my mother checks the time. “Oh look at the time. We have to go meet up with your father and the boys for dinner within the hour.” She speaks with a hint of fear. “Well let us not be late then.” I attempt to ease her nerves.
“Well alright then let's get going.” Mother walks over to the fireplaces and grabs a handful of flew power. “Diagon Alley” she speaks clearly and disappears into a green flame. I follow soon after with my flew power and disappearing into a plume of green flame.

Chapter 4: Meeting the Malfoy's
Summary:
Meeting up with Draco's parents and having a chat with his father is petrifying.
Chapter Text
As I step out of the fireplace into a bustling street full of witches, wizards, and warlocks alike. This is not a new sight for but it is nevertheless astonishing. I peek over people's heads and spot my mother, speaking to a rather tall man with long blonde hair that I assume was Mr. Malfoy. Mrs. Malfoy was standing next to him. When Draco would come over in past years his mother was always to be the one to pick him up. Over the years I grew fond of Mrs. Malfoy but I had never met her husband. He looked intimidating to say the least but I push aside any lingering fear as I approach my mother and the Malfoy's.
“Ah and here she is the only daughter of the Goyle house.” Mother says putting a firm yet comforting hand on my shoulder. I put on a professional smile and greet Draco's parents, shaking their hands.
“Ah Ms. Danyelle, it is a pleasure. Truly. Your parents have told me so much about you.” Mr. Malfoy regards my father (who showed up some time earlier) at the end of his statement. Looking back at me his jaw tightens and his eyes squint. He's judging how I might respond.
“A please to you as well Mr. Malfoy.” I respond with a pleasing smile. Please let that be the last of this conversation.
“Dear, please join the rest of the children for a moment. The adults need to speak.” Mother speaks sensing my discomfort and effectively cutting me out of the conversation. She could have been a bit kinder… I think while excusing myself to go find my brother.
After a while of wandering in the general direction of Gregory I find him in a candy shop with Malfoy looking at sugar quills. “Don't you already have twenty in your stash in your room?” I ask walking up behind him.
“Yeah but Draco has never had one before so I'm trying to change that!” Gregory responds by turning to me with six different colors of sugar quills. “I’m thinking either, green apple or cotton candy!” He says shoving a green and pink quill in my hand and returning the rest into one container.
“Why not both?” I ask handing the two quills back and organizing the now messed up containers. “You got some spare money right?”
“Yup got it right here!” He responds with pure joy.
“I hate to interrupt but my fathe-” Malfoy starts
“Nope you are living with us for the summer so you get to do all of the fun things!” the Goyle brother interrupts. “You're with us now.” I chuckle at my brother's antics and start walking towards the counter to pay, Malfoy and Gregory following behind. Greg pays for the sugar quills as well as a few other snacks before giving everything to me so that I can hold it in my bag till we get home. I smile at this old sibling tradition we started when we were much younger. We start on our way back to our parents when I ask “Hey Greg… when did Vince leave?”
“Oh his dad came right after Draco's did. I don't know why but they got into a small quarrel before he left with Vince.” Draco winced at Greg's words about his father. “Something about not wanting his son to be involved is this stuff yet.” Draco mumbles too quietly for any one to really hear him.
“What was that Malfoy?” I mock interest.
“Nothing woman.” He spits.
“Yeah sure.” I spit back. Finally we reach our parents. When we do I move next to my mother and Mrs. Malfoy.
“Now that the children have returned shall we go?” Mrs. Malfoy asks, bringing the previous conversation to an end.
“I suppose that would be best, yes.” Mr. Malfoy responds simply. He abruptly turns to me and speaks to me in that chilling tone. “Come. Let's have a chat.” I feel a shiver run down my spine but I comply regardless. Stealing one last glance at Mother. He turns to Mother. “We shall meet back at the restaurant. I shall return her there.” And with that we walk off leaving my mother and everyone else.
“So my dear how have you been doing?” Mr. Malfoy asks, totally unprompted.
“I'm doing good sir.” I try to keep my voice from showing fear.
“That's wonderful. And have you received your letter to Hogwarts yet? My dear.” He says in a chilling tone, dragging out My Dear like sludge.
“N- no sir.” My voice trembles.
“Why not.” He speaks with a hasher tone than before.
“I- I don't know sir.” My voice feels small compared to his influential one.
“Well you will be in Slitherin won't you.” He poses the question like a demand and I feel small like I can't do anything about anything.
“Yes sir.” I respond simply so that I don't say anything wrong in caution, that I dare not anger him.
“Well then. How is Draco acting at your residence? I was very cautious of sending him there but alas we had no choice.” As he speaks he drags out Draco's name like his son's name is poison on his tongue.
“He is acting very well sir.” For some reason I feel it wrong to speak ill of Draco to his father.
“As he should.” He speaks quietly. “How is he treating you then? My dear.” He drags out each word and I find it getting increasingly difficult to process what he is saying. Before I respond I take a moment to think of a kind response to Mr. Malfoy. He starts to look impatient when he glares down at me.
“He is treating me well. Sir.”
“Ah, I have raised him well. You know…” My mind goes into hyperdrive. What if he kills me behind this store. Or what if he tells me that he hates me and is taking Draco out of our house for the rest of the summer. I mean it wouldn't be such a bad thing. So..? “I always wanted a daughter of my own. I believe they are much more submissive than sons. But if I had a daughter then there would be no one to carry on the name of the Malfoy's.” He speaks slowly and turns towards me. He grabs a lock of my hair with his gloved hand. I flinch away.
“I- is that so.” I stutter, taking a step back. Submissive! What does he want with a submissive woman?! He has a wife. I am 10. I don't need to understand these things yet I do! Because I'm a pure-blood. My mind goes feral thinking of all the crazy endings of this interaction. Hoping that it will all be over soon.
“Well we should be off Dear. Your father should be wanting you back by now.” He holds out his arm for me to take. I am confused for a moment then I slowly reach for his arm. The second I make contact with his arm I feel my body being torn from the inside out and the ground beneath me vanishes. I try to close my eyes but my eyelids feel like they are gone. My insides feel like they have been removed. Like I never had them in the first place. I feel hunger though I have no stomach, I feel a headache though I have no head. I try to breathe but I have no lungs. All I see is the dimming sky and the setting sun fading the world from blues to pinks and oranges. The only feeling I can point out is at my fingertips. They feel glued on to Mr. Malfoy's suit jacket. I am without form everywhere else. For hours I feel nothing but my fingertips. I want to scream but I have no mouth. I can not move. Then all at once everything returns. I no longer feel hungry though I now feel my stomach, my headache is as if it was never there though I now have a head, I can breathe because my lungs have returned, I close my eyes for their lids have returned. I remove my fingers from Mr. Malfoy's suit jacket and look down at them. I take a step but I am dizzy and I almost lose my balance with my newfound weight.
“What is Gandalf's name, was that?” I whip my head towards Malfoy's father.
“No need for hostility. We were merely apparating.” He says it like it's the most obvious thing in the world. Oh yeah, apparition, a totally normal thing to do just out of nowhere. WHERE DID HE LEARN TO DO THAT!? WHERE! Mr. Malfoy offers me his arm again and this time I do not take it. I simply put my hands in front of me and follow after him. His cane in hand he strides into a restaurant. I follow after him.
