Summary
Sonic grunted as he was pushed to the ground, a hand on his head forcing him to the ground. Great, Knuckles woke up didn’t he. He heard the person huff above him and release his grip. Sonic pushed himself up and tried to stand but stumbled backward. A hand supported him, so, so gently.
“Are you alright?” A deep voice spoke, firm, yet so soft and caring. Sonic blinked a few times and looked at who he assumed was Knuckles yet he was met with a pair of red eyes watching him closely.
“Shadow…?” Sonic breathed out so quietly Shadow could barely hear it. Sonic was shaking, his eyes darting from the others arm to his face to the rest of his body, observing all the cuts and scars on his body that weren’t there before. His breathing got faster, his eye finally meeting Shadow’s. He blinked a few times really fast before moving his hand to hold Shadow’s arm. “You’re…alive? This isn’t a dream?”
Shadow shook his head. “This is real.”
They were in a field of grass and flowers. The forest surrounded them, close enough that leaves would drift over from the wind and land in the grass while the moon shone bright illuminating their faces and the stars watched over them.
